Experiencia negativa: For those looking into this academy: I found this academy through my child's school. The classroom portion was fine, and my child passed easily. However, when it came time for the Phase 2 driving instruction, the experience was very harsh. The instructor was rude and hostile toward the children in the car. She grabbed the steering wheel in the middle of traffic and frequently raised her voice—not in a corrective or informative way, but in an aggressive and degrading manner. This is not a good learning environment for any child to feel safe or confident. I withdrew my child and enrolled elsewhere, where they felt more comfortable and passed the driving test with ease. Driving schools should be encouraging and safe learning environments, not harsh and nerve-racking. I’ve heard from several others (3+) who had similar experiences with this business. I strongly advise going elsewhere. Mrs. Carmelita Carr needs to seriously rethink her teaching methods before working with any more students. If I could, I would give this school 0 out of 5 stars. I strongly recommend either going to a different school or opting for a parent-taught program.
Experiencia negativa: Called today and spoke with a woman who had a Georgia accent (she said she was from Georgia) and she was hands down one of the rudest disrespectful person I have ever spoke to. I was looking to get my sister in law (24) a driving test so we didn't have to do it at the facility. My sister in law had already taken 6 hour course and had driving experience. The woman told me that my sister in law would definitely fail but come on in anyway. She tried to tell me i was a terrible mother for putting my child on the road. Again, this is my sister in law not my child. Decided to go to a different school the same day and she passed with flying colors. This place should not be in business. What a way to tear a driver down without even knowing them. The response given from the owner is a pathetic example of unprofessionalism and lack of taking responsibility. I didn't ask for help so why would you give it? That was such a weird statement. I called to see if the facility had any availability for a road test. Nothing more nothing less
It's one thing to give an honest review that warranted, but it's something totally different when you DO NOT TELL THE ENTIRE STORY! I still don't understand why that's so hard for people to do. So, let me fill in the gaps for the public and the citizens that I want to help keep safe in our communities and on our roads. First and foremost, you NEVER mentioned that the person was your 24 year old sister in law. When you called, you were originally speaking to another instructor. Because of the information you gave her, she asked you could she put you on speaker to confirm the documents you needed to bring. The reason she even had to ask is because she wanted to make sure she was understanding correctly that you were saying that you guys were at DPS at the time getting a permit. So, then I asked the same question, "does she have a permit?' You then said, "we are here (at DPS) getting it now. So that's when I asked you were you asking for a road test, because in my mind I really thought you meant you wanted to take driving lessons. But you affirmed that you meant road test. So, that's when I asked about the individual's driving performance. You then said, that you had started driving when you were five years old on a farm. I then said, I understand, I'm from Georgia (you did not recognize the accent, I told you where I was from) and I started driving on a farm at 12 years old as well, but that alone did not make me a "safe driver." I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT YOU BEING A BAD MOM! People who know me and will read this will KNOW that statement was a flat out LIE! I simply asked you, why would you bring her to take a road test on the same day that she got her permit. You said she's been driving since she was younger (hence why would I assume it was your sister in law). As a sworn officer, who attested a render a service that would attribute to the safety of our roads and highways, why wouldn't I ask that question. You got so defensive because I was asking questions that ANYONE in my profession should have asked with the information you had given. Lastly, you said, I told you that the "individual" was more than likely to fail, again because of the difficulty of the route. You were correct with that statement, but YOU were the one who said, "I WILL BRING HER ANYWAY" and YOU JUST TEST HER, SHE'LL PASS!' Then I said, well bring her on. How can I tear someone down and I was talking to you. Besides, it was quite obvious that you were 100% confident in her driving ability if she is as good as you say she is, then the questions I was asking would have NO BEARING on how she felt as a driver. Once I hung up the phone, the 3 other instructors shook their heads and one of them said to me, "stop trying to help people who don't want your help!" I will say this a gazillion times if I need to, I'M MORE CONCERNED WITH PEOPLE'S LIVES THAN I AM ABOUT MONEY!!! I'm in business to make money but, I'm not in business to take people's money. I was simply trying to get you to think about what I was trying to convey and not possibly waste your money!
I would like to note again, just because a person passes a road test doesn't quantify them as a safe driver. DPS has a saying that if you fail their test, you have to be a horrible driver because they are so easy as well as most 3rd party routes. So, prayerfully your SIL will be a good safe driver and things will work out good for her!
Experiencia negativa: In order to help others and parents I wanted to make sure I write a review. I don’t like doing this, but I wish someone would have warned me. My kid hated this course and begged me to allow him to change agencies. I told him no, and believe that if you start something, you should finish it, however this is life and death and driving is a serious matter. My kid was threaten (similar to other complaints above) that the instructor would tell dmv he was such a poor driver and would flag him, and told him would get into an accident within a week of having his license. However they still provided his verified of completion. Long story short, save your money and go somewhere else with people that care and want your kids/family to succeed.
Mr. Hobbs,
I'm so sorry you feel the way do, However, it's very obvious that you sir unfortunately don't have your facts straight! Just as stated that you don't like to "do this," I don't like making negative PUBLIC reviews about my students. But let's talk about the facts, your son was one of the most unsafe drivers that we (all 3 instructors he drove with) have experienced who have come back for Phase III driving. We informed you guys before he started of our routes. We told you that we do things that MAJORITY of other driving schools do not do. We go places that they will NOT go. We on the other hand take pride in being able to say that our kids can drive ANYWHERE, because we take them EVERYWHERE! We ask EVERY parent, can your student drive anywhere and most importantly in rush hour traffic in the city? The response I got was yes. I can only go by what a parent tells me, so what did we do, put him in situations that he clearly was not experienced with and each time he drove we put ourselves and other drivers at risk. Each time he returned, he would be asked if he practiced the "Safe Driving Techniques" taught and during the first week, he said he DID NOT HAVE TIME ( everything is documented). My advice to him when the weekend was approaching was to come to New Braunfels and just practice driving in the city in heavy traffic. The next week when he came back, he assured me he had been practicing but his performance in rush hour city traffic had not improved. Prime example, drive #5 was the most frightening drive. He made a left turn into oncoming traffic, I reached over and corrected him. When he got to the stop sign, there was 4 cars that was exiting the highway (I-35), 3 were in the left lane and 1 changed into the right lane. We are all watching the traffic coming towards us at approximately 50 -60 miles an hour and all of sudden your son proceeded to pull out in front of the traffic. I slammed on my brake and held it, he was still pushing on the accelerator trying to make the car go. I did yell at that point, "take your foot off the gas!" It TERRIFIED EVEYONE in the vehicle. The car in the right lane swerved to the left almost hitting one of the other vehicles. It scared me so bad, we had to pull over. I needed to take a breather. The only thing that kept replaying in my mind was the fact that at a very minimum, the two students sitting on the left ,and the driver in the right lane would have possibly been killed instantly and myself and the student behind me killed or if not, seriously injured. I asked him, why did you do that, his response was I thought I could go. So, I said, remember you have to judge the speed of those vehicles. We teach judging the speed of other vehicles EVERY SINGLE DAY, but again if a student does not practice, they cannot perfect the skills they are deficient in. ALL STUDENTS are told EVERYDAY what areas they are unsafe in and we even give them examples of how to practice just those things.
If he would have had an accident, even though it would have been his fault, even you would have questioned me as to why I didn't stop the car and you would have been correct in holding me accountable as well. So with that being said, I guess I will NEVER fully understand why I get negative reviews over something that I teach that can in a SPLIT SECOND result in a matter of LIFE or DEATH. I've asked myself several times, what makes me different than a coach that gets onto a kid that messes up a play. Do the parents right bad reviews about that coach when he/she is speaking with GREAT PASSION in their voice trying to make the student better at whatever sport, the answer would be no. But here I am getting horrible reviews because I'm trying to make sure we are putting "safe drivers," on our streets.
Lastly, make sure you get the facts, I did not threaten to contact DPS, because I already learned (from my own story) that's not possible. I simply say, if you are not a safe driver, you can't test with me!
Experiencia fantástica: As a Military family arriving in a new city and not knowing much about the area, we were happy to find All Drive Training Academy with their friendly staff to fully train our first born to survive and drive well in San Antonio traffic. Being a loving dad, I was not too excited about sending my daughter out on the road for the first time, I was nervous—probably more than my child was! But from the moment we signed up, this driving school went above and beyond to earn our trust. The instructors were patient, professional, and truly cared about helping my child become a confident, safe driver. They communicated clearly with both of us every step of the way, and I was never left wondering how things were going. What meant the most to me was the way they treated my child—not just as a student, but with real respect and encouragement. By the end of the course, my child felt ready—and I felt peace of mind. I can’t thank this team enough for making such an important milestone a positive and safe experience for our family. Highly recommend them to any parent looking for a trustworthy, caring, and effective driving school. We will be signing up our son in the future. Thank you Miss Carmelita and team!
Experiencia negativa: Instruction wasn't passionate and disrespectful, unprofessional scheduling. Not recommend.
Before I responded to your post, I wanted to pull your folder and cameras to make sure we have the right person. Thankfully we are professional enough that we don’t post client’s drives. However, the reason for your review was not based on our level/ lack of professionalism but your dishonesty about your ability to drive. I’m sorry that you feel your experience was subpar but I will never apologize for not testing/licensing a person that is very unsafe. Prayerfully if you have obtained your license, you have practiced more and you will prove to be safe for yourself as well as everyone else on our roads/highways.
