Austin Driving School

100 12th St Suite #104, 78660, Pflugerville

In order to receive your drivers license in Texas, teens must complete 24 HOURS of driving and safety theory, 7 hours of driving and 7 hours of observing other students, and lastly an additional 30 hours of driving must be completed and logged before being issued your license. Austin Driving School offers teen driving course on, and offline with 18 convenient locations throughout Texas.

Teens can enroll in a drivers ed. program as early as 14 years old. When selecting your course make sure to consider both the theory and the behind the wheel segment of the training. Our drivers education course is fully integrated, making it the most comprehensive  teen drivers ed. course around.

After the first three days of the course you will receive a certificate to apply for your learners permit. You will take this certificate to the DPS along with the other required identification documents. When completed you are ready to begin scheduling driving hours.

Before receiving your completion certificate, you will have successfully completed 24 HOURS of theory work as well as a minimum of 7 hours of driving and 7 hours of observation with a certified driving school instructor or through a registered parent-taught program. Remember that learning to drive is a learned skill that requires practice and study. National Standards recommend at least 10 hours of behind the wheel professional instruction.

The 81st legislature enacted the Less Tears More Years Act requiring teens to log an  additional 30 hours of behind the wheel driving with a certified instructor or parent/guardian. At least 10 of these hours must take place after dark, and Austin Driving School can provide some or all of these hours for you.

Avoid the hassle of taking your driving test at the DPS office. Austin Driving School is authorized to offer the official DPS Authorized Road Test at many of our 18 locations. Get your license in familiar surroundings, and in complete comfort. Whether you take your Road Test with us or choose to wait and take it with the DPS, you will first need to take the two-hour online IMPACT Texas Teen Drivers Course.

To get your license, you will need to provide a DE-964 completion certificate, your IMPACT Texas Teen Drivers completion Certificate, 30 hour driving log, and VOE. After completing all requirements, you will then take the DPS Authorized Road Test. If you choose to take the Road Test with us, we will provide you with an envelope to exchange for your license at the DPS.

All our Instructors are licensed and certified by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Third party skills instructors are licensed and certified by the DPS.

Experiencia negativa: I can vouch for the reviews. I wish I would have done my homework and looked at the reviews before I gave them my money. Parents...find a new driving school or do the full parent taught option with your child. THIS is NOT the best option. After my child letting me know how horrible it is it gives me anxiety so I can't imagine how the kids feel. I repeat...FIND A DIFFERENT DRIVING SCHOOL ( I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE RUDENESS FROM THE LADY AT PFLUGERVILLE LOCATION)

Experiencia negativa: I went here for my behind the wheel. You will get the hours necessary to get your license but you will not enjoy it. The front desk woman is extremely rude to everyone and vocally expressed her vitriol for trans people.

Experiencia negativa: What the heck is wrong with the old lady at the front desk!? She was rude and condescending and acted like my child and I were idiots for trying to book driving lessons. There are plenty of other driving schools in town. Avoid this place!!

Experiencia negativa: This place is ok. I wouldn’t recommend it if you actually want to learn, as all of the answers are just read off to you with little explanation. The front desk lady is rude and ignorant and treated me with disrespect when I did nothing. I was able to get my permit after attending, but I didn’t do any of the 14 driving/observation hours as i honestly just wanted to be done with this place the minute the 16 days ended. I attended the 11-1 morning session and my instructor was a fairly nice black man. He did put students that were obviously socially anxious in kind of awkward embarrassing situations and I felt bad. Overall there were no issues with my instructor, just the way of teaching. Answers were just read off “#1 is A, #2 is C” and so on. They definitely did have useful information. My biggest complaint was the evening instructor who I think did the 5-7 classes. This was kind of crazy. Although my class only had to deal with him once or twice, I can only imagine what the other class went through (the evening session he taught). No matter what political views or opinions you have, I’m sure it would be upsetting hearing that this is what your child was “learning” after you pay for the driving school costs. This was very disappointing having to listen to this grown man ramble on and on about political issues to teenagers- completely unrelated to driving whatsoever. He went on this rant for so long we had to stay an extra 5 or so minutes after the class time ended to fill in the answers on our answer sheets. To give an idea on how unrelated this was- he furiously talked about some sort of law or something in which people are trying to remove playgrounds from fast food places (like McDonalds play places) because the play area will draw in children’s attention which is bad because McDonalds will make them fat? These were his words, and personally I have heard nothing about this. He then went on to talk about any political figures voting for this law deserve to “sit on a bus with crying and screaming children for hours until they change their mind”. Many other controversial topics were brought up, while all students were just sitting quietly. Honestly being in that room felt like you were the first people he got to express his opinions to in a very long time. At the end of the day I finished and got my permit, so whatever. But like I said I can only imagine what that evening class dealt with because honestly at the end of this guys rant my ears were about ready to bleed. There’s probably better options out there for a driving school for you or your child and I would definitely recommend trying to find something better. Thanks for reading.

Experiencia negativa: I'm U.S. Marine Corps veteran. I'm a licensed firearms instructor. Tonight, my kid came home with a 50-minute recording of his instructor. Not only did the instructor not cover relevant information, but he also talked at great length about erroneous stories that appear to have very little fact to them. He also bragged about and encouraged committing stolen valor. He wears an Army Camo blouse and tells the class to follow his lead even though he's never served. He bragged about brandishing an AR15 at various homeless people and political protestors. He encouraged the class to bring weapons to school. This is all on recording. As a veteran, I am incensed. As a firearms instructor, I fear for these kids because this is not a safe or responsible man.
