Experiencia fantástica: 1. The school does administer drivingbtest, a state trooper does. He passes or fails. They are in the business to keep drivers off the road if they are a safety hazard. 2. The price is comparable to other schools. I would recommended paying in full for the discount. 3. The school respects ALL student drivers. With all the stories I've been hearing of children failing their driving test, with terrible instruction from other driving schools in the area, I am so glad we went with Chelmsford Auto. My son took the classroom instruction in Dracut, for an entire week during the early summer. I attended the parent class in Billerica. The driving instructors drilled every aspect of rules of the road inti my son. Theybpicked up on when he was not comfortable and worked on it. Up through the week before his exam, his instructor(s) were very thorough. He did not stick with a particular driver, rather whoever was available. I also paid extra to use the driving school vehicle along with the test on a Saturday. Up through the time my son stepped in for the exam, they were there to answer any and all concerns. The multiple locations make it very convenient. They pick you up at school, work or home. Thank you!

Experiencia negativa: Almost got hit by one of your student drivers that came barreling through a red light this afternoon on Boston Road in Billerica. Didn't remotely look like the kid or instructor tried to stop for the light. Definitely won't even consider sending my son here. No wonder there are so many bad drivers on the road if the instructors don't even make them follow the most basic rules. I wouldn't send your kid here unless you want them to end up dead or in jail for killing someone else. License plate was V73 990 I believe.

Experiencia negativa: Hey y'all! Scott here. Now, what's something you would hear before you wanna start driving? That's right. You have to go to driving school. Which driving school did I get pulled into? The depths of Chelmsford Auto School. The 8 lessons I pulled? Easy, peace of cake. At that point, I just knew I was a good driver. Barely a stop from the instructor's side. I guess a few methods were doo-doo fart, such as some dude's weird parallel parking method. At that point, you might as well learn the method off Tik-Tok. The road test? Yikes. More stricter than an average Hong Kong High School. Failed twice, once for some idiotic driver on the road, not even my fault. Second time for selective racism. I'm not even making this up. Like, am I not allowed to drive? Dude marked me for not signalling, when a BUNCH of my other friends, standing in different parts of the route to look at my driving, investigate to see if I did everything correctly. You know what? I did. I did do everything correctly. I signalled Every. Single. Turn. My friend literally saw me look over my shoulder through the window. What did this test reviewer do? Mark me as not looking over the shoulder, and not checking my blind spots. Basically, if you're a Non-American, good luck trying to pass. If you are? You've got yourself the cheapest deal on passing the test. Honestly, waste of my time, made me depressed and unmotivated. In fact, this school ruined my life, and I do not expect to have an appearance in Cars 4.

Experiencia negativa: I only give this school one star because firstly yes the instructor I had was great, he’s someone you want teaching you how to drive. Now the road test yes I’m fine with the $125 with the obvious $85 for the dmv the first but, if you fail like I did because I was over the stop line but not on the crosswalk I have to pay another $125 and $35 for dmv. I’ve almost spent a thousand dollars on this school after all those lesson fees. Ridiculous. You guys were late, backed up, and not prepared for the Saturday road tests. Making these people wait for 2 other tests to finish. Unorganized and honestly just a scam what a shame. But I gotta go back for round two at this place so let’s see what happens. PS. If you fail 20 day wait. Good luck to the rest of you going to this place smh.

Your paying to have an instructor go (who benefits from them failing) complete scam, watched so many kids fail today and was disgusted. Experiencia fantástica: Genuine motor school around 25 miles Radius, my wife had a bad experience with Westford, Lawrence , Wilmington, lowell auto school. They pin down the real problems candidates are having on the road and focus on those areas. Worth spending money instead of chasing those fake five start motor schools. Really professional staff who understand that people comes to them to learn the driving, makes candidate comfortable on road by being clam while she makes mistakes. Thanks for providing correct lesson on parallel parking and helping clear the road test!

Experiencia negativa: The service was slow when your taking your license test and the only reason is because the instructor wanted to smoke his cegar so badly he didn’t care if other people trying to take their test in line waiting patiently so it took longer I waited a whole 2 hours just to take my test when it should’ve happened around the time I scheduled my appointment and it’s like you have to hope to get a good test instructor who isn’t passively aggressive towards you like rushing you when your trying to parallel park like you didn’t hold up the line mid test just to smoke your cegar wasting everyone time just to fail them and point out things they did wrong even though you did them right it’s like taking a gamble with this place but most of the time you lose.

Experiencia negativa: Terrible front desk staff. Very expensive. Only some instructors are good. Driving tests often have two graders and they are super strict. It’s waste of time and money! It’s impossible to pass the driving test with them.

Experiencia negativa: Don't waste your money here. The instructor didn't show up at pickup location nor did they contact you at scheduled time. No one answers their office number. Their staff were super rude when you complained about instructor no show, they switched the blame on you. And when you asked for a refund, they insisted on charging you for lessons not taken, asked you to leave and threatened you to call the police.

Experiencia positiva: I did not take formal lessons but I did take my exam and one pre-test lesson before my exam and passed!!! The exam instructor was extremely understanding of my nerves and made the test less intimidating. My instructor for my pre-test lesson (different instructor) made passive aggressive comments but overall gave me good advice about the exam which helped me feel more prepared. Take your exam here if you don’t want to deal with the Lowell RMV.

Experiencia fantástica: I had my road test today with Chelmsford Auto, and the amount of joy felt when I passed was immeasurable. I had been discouraged from my previous failures at the Lowell RMV (I took lessons from a different school), but CAS is so well-organized and friendly. My driving proctor was extremely kind and cognizant of performance anxiety, as were the instructors. I had been terrified and discouraged up until today. It was made so much more calming and pleasant. Please go here!

Experiencia negativa: All I have to say is if you get Darlene for your driving instructor on your road test it’s an automatic fail. She has failed my son and 2 of his friends in a matter of a 2 months and all for the same reasons. She was very rude and made my son come home crying because she made him more nervous than he already was…. He took the practice test on his last lesson and passed with no mistakes, but once he gets in the car with her it was an automatic fail. She didn’t even give him a chance to pass he stepped in the car and knew what was going to happen. I’m sorry to any kids who have to experience a road lesson from her in the future.

Experiencia negativa: I regret not reading reviews prior to this appointment. This business is a complete scam. The staff is rude, unethical and should be discredited. After the fact, from what I have heard, you only get passed if you are their student/paid for lessons. How biased and unfair is that?! Essentially, you have to “buy” a license through them. It doesn’t matter how good of a driver you are. I only paid for the road test, $120. Assuming there would be a refresher lesson and that the school would be driving me to the RMV. Nope. There is no refresher lesson (like I was told on the phone) and the lesson happens in the school parking lot. I was completely blindsided. I was then failed over a technicality before I even took the test. What did I pay $120 for?! Complete scammers and waste of time, do not recommend

Experiencia negativa: Overpriced and awful scheduling. I spent over 600 bucks getting lessons on basic things that I could have asked my grandparents or even simply learned from a handbook. The online courses were unintuitive and the in car lessons were rushed and spread too thinly, and with a new hire who got lost on the road multiple times. Nothing they taught was common sense and I failed my driver's exam twice in a row due to a lack of confidence. You'd be saving the road by not letting your kids come here and teaching them yourself.

Experiencia negativa: I took the test today. It was pouring out but I failed because I went too slow and Turning too slow. I read in the book that in inclement weather ,I should drive slower so I did. But I failed for that. Also, during the test, the examiner and the sponsor went on talking about their dentist’s son who had committed suicide and his absentee mother. It was so distracting.

Experiencia negativa: They are friendly and professional. However, my son did not learn well from the school. He did not learn how to adjust a driver seat properly among other things. I will say that the worst part of this school is the private examinations that they sell, implying that it is easier to pass the license test on familiar grounds etc. However, the examiners they used are tough and not nicer to the students than the RMV despite the extra money they make. We failed twice here, and were not treated nicely by the RMV examiners.

Experiencia fantástica: I took a few classes at this school and passed my license on the first try. My instructor was Alex (Peter) and he was very helpful and kind. Without him I wouldn’t have learned how to drive. I didn’t expect to learn so quickly! I took a short review class with Kevin 2 days before my road test and he was also very kind and helpful. They make you feel safe & confident while driving and that’s coming from somebody with severe anxiety. You can tell they care and want you to pass. I would recommend this place to anybody and I highly suggest you take classes with Alex you’ll learn everything you need to know and he actually made it a fun experience that I’ll never forget :) thank you for all the help

My instructor is Peter Flynn and he is AMAZING! He makes you feel comfortable, safe, and makes it a fun experience. After only a few lessons with him I’m already feeling much more confident! Highly recommend this auto school and especially Peter as an instructor!!

Experiencia negativa: The driver's ed course was more reasonably priced, but my teacher put in no effort and didn't teach well at all. She didn't give us nearly enough time to take notes and didn't go over the important details enough, so I was unprepared for my permit exam.

I called Chelmsford Auto and Kevin explained the process and was happy to take my son as a student. His instructor Marty was great and showed him how to be a good safe driver. Experiencia fantástica: My daughter's driving test was coming up, she was very nervous and her driving reflected that. We scheduled a pre-test drive a few days prior to her actual test. Afterwards, her driving instructor, Marty, very gently told her that she was a fine driver but that her lack of confidence in herself might be her downfall, and he was right. A few days later she passed her test. She said she recalled the pep talk that Marty gave her during the pre-test, as well as right before taking the actual driving test. I appreciate that he took the time to give her his professional advice. I think all of the staff at Chelmsford Auto School are good and really do want the kids to succeed.. They go out of their way for both the parents and the kids and I'd recommend them.

Experiencia negativa: Definitely over priced. They should not have to pay 120 both times and tell you instead of explaining what is wrong. For that price when coming from a less than affluent household you could at least throw in some pointers and helpful information. From what I heard they only pass students there very poor for business will not recommend to anyone unless you can afford the school.

Experiencia negativa: Get some new driving instructors who teach the students to go the speed limit. I just got stuck behind a student going 15 mph in a 40 mph zone all the way from Pepperell to Westford. Not one of the posted speeds was below 30 mph. The person held up traffic for nearly 15 miles.

Experiencia fantástica: I had driving lessons with them, and the instructors were very nice and patient. I'm thankful for the owner, Marty, because he sponsored me during my road test, which I just recently passed. Overall, they were very helpful; I am very satisfied with the service they gave me.

That is ridiculous! Worst auto school ever. I hope they see everyone’s reviews! My older daughter went to Nashoba, and it was awesome. Got her license on time. My younger one just signed up with a friend who was taking driver’s ed here, but clearly it was a BIG mistake! The rest of my kids will be going to nashoba!!

The biggest thing this auto School should do is take their kids more through the town of Chelmsford than anything else to get used to the roads. I failed for something so unbelievably stupid. If you don't know the roads of Chelmsford.. you won't pass. Period!

Experiencia negativa: I do not recommend this place. My daughter is 2 road lessons away from completing the required amount and they keep blowing her off. There has been 3 no shows where they were suppose to pick her up at the high school and they never showed. She ended up missing her bus and I had to leave work to pick her up. Another time they showed up only to give her a ride home saying they were double booked. I have asked to speak to a manager who is never there. Left messages for manager to never get a call back. I am at a complete loss since they are not showing up for appointments. My next step is to file a BBB complaint.

Experiencia negativa: Horrible experience. Was rescheduled twice due to their incapability to schedule times while the registry was open. Was told to pay a fee to get it rescheduled. Then their next available time was another month away. Will not go here or promote this place. If you want to get your license this is not the place to do it.

Experiencia negativa: Do not go here for your road test unless you are a student there. I took a road test twice there and failed both times. I am using my wife's account to write this. I am an immigrant and felt personally judged for this by the woman who was testing me. Both times I took the exam there were younger girls in front of me who failed at answering basic questions like the proper hand signals. The girl that went in front of me this time failed parallel parking, asked to do it again, and was given this, and proceeded to pass. I did everything correctly except forget to once look over my shoulder for incoming traffic and 'used my mirrors too much' but successfully did each move she asked me to do. When I went only a few inches over the line and asked for a do over I was not given one. I feel the tests were not fair whatsoever. Why the girl was given more chances and failed at knowing what the hand signals are and still passed is beyond me. If you are an immigrant I strongly recommend not going here as I feel personally targeted by this woman who clearly had something against me. When I mentioned this to the person in the office they appears surprised that I didn't pass either. But simply said 'I'm sorry it didn't work out.' I feel very defeated by this whole process and cannot believe this is the kind of business done at this school.

Experiencia negativa: Took a road test lesson and took the road test at the school. The instructor said I am comfortable with driving and OK with a road test. But when I took the test, the examiner said I was driving too slow and not look. I did look at both sides every time I took a turn. I did parelell parking well and three point turn well. It's the same with the test you took at RMV, don't spent your 100 buck here.

Experiencia negativa: Poor co-ordination with RMV and lack of communication with customer to inform changes in schedule. My road test was re-scheduled 3 times in a row and every time that happened, they failed to call up and inform me and I had to find out by calling them multiple times. They don't have a working email ID. The car that they have for road test has a spring projecting out of the break pedal for instructor control that obstructs the foot contact and makes for a uncomfortable driving experience.

Experiencia positiva: I don't have a lot of experience with them cause I just needed them for a car + sponsor for the road test. The provided car was fine, the instructor was really helpful: he briefly listed the main tasks for the road test and how to do them (I never had road lessons in Mass before). I also drove that car from my home to RMV and got some reasonable advices. This friendly, comfortable environment played a great role - approaching RMV I wasn't nervous and was able to think and remember all the hints. 4* - because they came for pick-up a little bit late than it was agreed.

Experiencia negativa: SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE BETTER!! This "business" screwed me over several times. Three of my road lesson were cancelled. it would've alright had it not been mere seconds before they were supposed to pick me up. I called 3 times a day for a week trying to confirm my road test and they never answered. When i called the day before my test was scheduled to happen they told me i wasn't on the list. The MANAGER, Jay, was no help when i called. not to mention i was told that i would be personally added to the list two week prior and now they have me scheduled for 2 months later. They are the epitome of a bad business. DONT USE THEM!!!!

Experiencia negativa: My daughter just walked in the door crying saying she never wants to drive again because the guy demeaned her so much. He was an older guy who had an accent and he was cruel and obviously is horrible at his job. My daughter has been driving for six months, this was her second to last lesson. My husband and I both feel she has good judgement and is a safe, thoughtful defensive driver. There is no excuse for people like this to be in any type of contact with our youth. We paid $595 to this school and since this guy works there, I would choose anyone but them.
