Commonwealth Driver Improvement Clinic (CDIC) is a full-fledged driving school, established in 2001. Since then, we have grown to be one of the top rated driving schools and an integral part of the Richmond community. Our pledge to you is to provide a safe, courteous service with a personal touch. We are located inside of the Dominion Village Shopping Center at the corner of Creighton Rd. and Laburnum Ave. The closest landmarks to us are: Jackie’s Soul Food Wawa (across from the 7-Eleven) Henrico Credit Union (Our door is directly in front of their drive thru aisles, stating “driving school” in red letters. Teens are able to apply for a Virginia Learner’s Permit at the age of 15 years old and six months. At age 16 years and 3 months, teens can officially become licensed through our Driver’s Education program (to include 36-hours of classroom instruction and 14 in-car sessions – 7 driving and 7 observing)

We're a part of the community, we've been here for decades and we care about our neighbors. We take driving safety seriously and go above and beyond to instill the best defensive driving habits possible within all of our students. Our school maintains high standards that will not be compromised and our instructors are there for you, not just during classes or driving lessons. All of our instructors are certified through the Virginia Department of Education as well as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and fully licensed, bonded, and insured.

Experiencia fantástica: I’m going to be writing outstanding reviews on all platforms. I finished the course and got my license today. i had a history of starting and stopping driving studies since 2019, I had no confidence in myself. After this course, I feel amazing and it‘s fantastic to finally be able to drive. Mr Tiller and Nekia are so sweet and calming, I felt very comfortable in the car and learning from them. They were also very accommodating with their hours and great getting back to me within a few days via email. The only thing to beware is some content in the drivers ed class can be frightening. Don’t speed out there! Great class otherwise, I was able to complete the course quickly on my own time. Amazing course! Amazing people and amazing results! Thank you!! I will miss the morning drives with Mr. Tiller!

Experiencia fantástica: Finally, I have got my driver license with proper guidance of Ms. Nekia and my driving instructor Mr. Tillar. Mr. Tillar is a great coach, who teach me every maneuver effortlessly and boost up my confidence level in driving. He handle every situation calmly and gently. I definitely recommend this driving school to all.

Experiencia fantástica: My driving instructor was Mr. Tillar. He was extremely patient and did a great job of coaching/teaching rather than scolding. When my driving partners or I made mistakes, he remained calm and gently corrected us. His easy-going and humorous demeanor made driving with him smooth and anxiety-free. I will recommend this driving school to my friends and younger relatives in the Richmond area!

Experiencia fantástica: I took the online class for my learnings permit which was 8 hours and very smooth & easy I went back to dmv today to take my test and I passed!!!

Experiencia fantástica: My daughters both took classes with CDIC and the experience for both children was excellent. My oldest daughter, who has autism, was especially fearful, but Ms. Williams put her completely at ease. She identified opportunities for gentle coaching, and was supportive throughout the entire course. Excellent communication, excellent instruction, and a genuine effort to teach both children to be safe, vigilant drivers. I cannot recommend CDIC highly enough.
