So, you want to obtain your driver’s license. If you are moving in from out of state or another country, you will have to pass the MI written driving test as well as the on-road Michigan driver’s license test. However, if you are from another U.S. state, Canada, South Korea, or Germany, you will be able to convert your driver’s license to a Michigan license for driving without having to take a driving test or a written road test exam. There are many options to choose from when preparing for your driver’s ed test; plenty of websites offer a driver’s ed online practice test. Once you are confident, you will want to schedule a road test. Same Day Road Test has multiple road test locations and offers a great experience for the test driver, including the option to rent a car for the road test. For new drivers attempting to obtain a driver’s license who are under 18, you will have to pass segments one and two of driver’s education before attempting a road test exam. After segment one and passing the MI written driving test, you will receive your learner’s permit. After segment two and completing 50 hours of supervised driving, including 10 at night, you will be able to sign up for driver testing. If you pass, you will receive a level two license for driving. In order to get your full driver’s license, you will have to be at least 17, hold the level two license for six months, and drive for a year without any violations or at-fault crashes. If all requirements are met and parental authorization is granted, then the level three or full driver’s license will be granted without any fees. A driving skill test is required both when applying for a level two driver’s license under Graduated Driver Licensing and when 18 or older, applying for an original driver’s license. A road test exam is also required when your last driver’s license has expired for more than four years. You will not have to worry about driver testing if you have a driver’s license from Canada, Germany, or South Korea. Prerequisites for taking a driver’s license test vary based on age. If you are under 18, you must complete segment two of driver education, with a log of 50 supervised driving hours, with at least 10 being at night. You must also hold a level one learner’s license for at least six months and not have any civil infractions, convictions, or at-fault crashes in the 90 days preceding the driving test. For those who are 18 and older, you must obtain a temporary instruction permit and it is recommended to partake in some guided state driving test practice. This can be done with a friend, family member, or a professional instructor. When you are ready to take the Michigan driver’s license test, there are plenty of resources for doing so. The driver’s license road test is administered by independent driver testing businesses approved by the Secretary of State. One great option for the road test exam is Same Day Road Test.
