Experiencia fantástica: Every place has its trouble. The instructors and staff helped us as students pull thru. It's not easy training so.eone off the streets to drive a RIG. Thank you phoenix truck driving institute
Thank you for the 5-stars Kenneth, here's to an exciting future in trucking!
Experiencia positiva: Here's my complete honest review of Phoenix Trucking school. Phoenix trucking school has great staff. Brandy is probably my favorite instructor. And before Marvin left he was probably runner-up. I took the evening class they will go above and beyond to help you get gainful employment once you obtain your CDL license through them. And they give you lifelong assistance in helping you find work which is great. They will teach you everything you need to know to drive a 8 gear manual stick shift semi truck. Be aware that you may end up with at least 12 to 20 students per class and they only have two time slots mornings and evenings. You can go full-time or part-time. I recommend going part-time if you can go in the afternoon from 2:30 to 6:30 is probably the best time because it's not overwhelmed with students later on in the day you have more people showing up. You will get less time doing maneuvers you will get less time in the truck doing stuff like the in-cab inspection which is probably one of the most important things you need to know in order to get through your tests. At this point there are four tests the pre-inspection the three maneuvers you need to know and the over the road test. You will be tested by a man named Tim there might be others coming in but before I left he was the one testing you. This guy is straight up by the book he is not nice nobody likes him but he has a wealth of knowledge. Also be advised that if he is testing you he cannot train you in any capacity it is against federal law. Also remember that testers do nothing but observe you they do not give you any feedback they just watch everything that you do until you're done with each test and then depending on how you do they either will stop you if you have made too many mistakes on one of the tests or simply give all the information to the instructor on site after your test phase. Other important things to be aware of is this is an older trucking school the trucks are old they don't keep them super clean the range aka the lot is kind of dirty there's a parking yard right next door that's a dirt lot and the truckers that pull in their trailers to park them kick up a lot of dust which will come into the range AKA lot where you are practicing your maneuvers or standing around. Their shade canopies are trash you are literally standing around in dirt so you will get dirty. It's kind of annoying but just remember that you're not there for all of that you're there to learn how to drive a stick shift semi truck. Also remember that you will not have any restrictions on your CDL license when you complete everything. They also give you progress reports (very important) if you are following behind they will sit down with you and go over where you are and the expectations they have. You will have you sign some paperwork. Most of the students are veterans and ex-cons trying to rehabilitate their life. Everyone is pretty cool I never had an issue with any other student. The number one thing I can tell people is to apply yourself. Before I left there was only two instructors in the evening and two instructors in the day they started breaking us up into groups usually foir to five people to do pre-inspection while some did maneuvers and usually one instructor takes four students over the road to show them how to shift gears and proper over the road etiquette and safety. They will expect you to do call-outs when you are on the road so when you are in the truck with other students who have been there longer pay attention to what they are doing and what they saywhen they're driving. There's a lot to learn but don't be afraid to ask questions not only to instructors but to fellow students have been there longer.
Experiencia negativa: was hesitant to enroll with little money left and prior violations on my record but they assured me it's a "case-by-case" with hiring companies. unless you already know someone, don't get your CDL. there's too much competition. federal regs say don't look past so many years but these companies hold people accountable for stuff 10+ years ago. nice know everybody...
