Well established (since 1994), multi-location, full-service driving school in Northern Virginia, is looking to continue growing by hiring a Driving School Instructor (PT or FT) for Behind-the-Wheel (on the road) training. Great opportunity for a steady, flexible, 2nd/PT job.

You should be a career-minded, self-motivated, responsible individual to work in a family-oriented environment with flexible scheduling and unlimited potential for growth. Must have good people skills and enjoy interacting, helping/guiding others while remaining patient and professional.

*20 years service either as a traffic enforcement officer with patrol experience in a local police department OR as a law enforcement officer who (i) has retired or resigned while in good standing from such department, (ii) was certified through a criminal justice training academy, and (iii) has been certified to teach driver training by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.

Since opening its doors in 1994, AA Driving Academy has had one goal: to "teach you safe, responsible, and accountable driving." To date, our driving school is responsible for training, licensing, and improving the driving of 100,000 student drivers that have graduated from our academy.

We offer several services to facilitate your driving needs. We specialize in teaching collision-free, defensive driving techniques. This, combined with a solid grounding of classroom theory, gives students the strong foundation they need to develop a thorough understanding of the roads, rules, and regulations. We offer behind-the-wheel training, driver improvement courses, reckless/aggressive courses, driver education, and reexamination courses.

Some of our instructors are active and retired police officers with numerous years of extensive training and experience in traffic law enforcement, emergency driving methods, collision investigation, and traffic court proceedings. All of our instructors have many years of driving instruction experience, are given professional training, and are educated college graduates. They have also received specialized collegiate level training in Driver’s Education. In addition, all are licensed as Driver Training Instructors by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and certified by American Automobile Association (AAA) and National Safety Council (NSC). They are subject to annual national Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) background checks and DMV driving record audits.

Thank you for your trust and business! As we continue to move into Phase 2 & 3 in the NOVA area, we are strictly following the guidelines provided to us by the VA Governors Office, VA DMV, VA Dept of Health & CDC. Here's some important updates:

#1) For Classroom Courses: Class sizes are still being limited while practicing social distancing. Also students are required to wear face masks/coverings. We are monitoring registrations DAILY and closing classes out as soon as we reach our allowed capacity. Classes are filling up daily! SIGN UP EARLY before classes fill up!

#2) For Driving Lessons & Behind the Wheel: Due to previous student backlog + OVERWHELMING new student registration during our usual 'BUSY summer rush', we are VERY backed up! Prior to registering, please be advised that there will be a considerable delay (2-3 weeks minimum) before starting your first lesson! Our instructors are driving 6-7 days a week, 10-12 hrs per day, doing their very best to accomodate this unusual demand. Please understand that we cannot start anyone 'immediately'. We appreciate your patience! Also students are required to wear face masks/coverings and encouraged to wear gloves. Our instructors have extra of all these supplies (masks, gloves, sanitizer), plus are cleaning the vehicles before & after each appointment! No more then 2 students in the vehicle at one time!

To our valued Customers, (Updated: 05/20/2020)Thank you for your trust and business, as we continue to navigate during these crazy times. Things are changing weekly, with that here are some important updates:

#1) We continue to remain OPEN while adhering to strict guidelines provided by the VA Governors Office, VA DMV, VA Dept of Health & CDC. We encourage/recommend students to wear masks when they come in! We have gloves, hand soap, sanitizers for students. We're also cleaning/disinfecting classrooms daily.

#2) Due to social distancing requirements, our Classroom courses have a MAX limit of 10 students.. Plus our 'busy summer rush' starts in May.. Also many other DIP clinic schools remain closed.. Lastly, VA DMV is NOT extending DIP compliance letter deadlines NOR are they allowing those Under 20yrs old to the do DIP course online.. Based on ALL of the above, our 8 hr DIP courses are filling up FAST! We are monitoring registrations DAILY and closing classes out as soon as we hit 10! To meet this demand, we've added extra classes. But SIGN UP EARLY before classes fill up!

#3) For Driving Lessons & Behind The Wheel, we are pending approval of the start date from the VA GOVERNOR & DMV. We anticipate this to be either May 29th (Phase 1 in NOVA area) OR June 11th (End of Exec Order 55). We are getting MANY calls daily and are encouraging everyone to register NOW! You will be assigned an instructor, who will call you SOON to discuss scheduling. Priority will be given to finishing past students, who's lessons were halted in March. So please be patient and understanding, as we cannot guarantee accommodating everyone immediately. But the instructors will be working long hours, 6 days a week, doing their best to maximize scheduling for all students. So the sooner you register, the sooner an Instructor can discuss schedule. It is expecting that all driving students must wear masks & preferably have gloves on! Instructors will also be having similar requirements and having to clean/disinfect their vehicles more often.

We at AA Driving Academy hope this message finds everyone well during these trying times. Like all businesses, we continue to monitor matters daily and follow CDC recommendations and the guidelines of the recent Executive Order from the Virginia Governors office.

We continue to remain open, but have limited some operations, reduced hours and cut back on classes. In order to comply with EO-53, we are STRICTLY adhering to absolutely NO MORE then 10 patrons for any class and increasing spacing for social distancing.

For DIP or Driver’s Ed, if eligible, you can register for online classes on our website. If you wish to reschedule to a later date, please contact us so we can accommodate you. For behind the wheel training/lessons, please directly contact your driving instructor to reschedule any upcoming appointments.

*We are strictly limiting class attendance! We encourage you to pre-register online, that way we can email & call you, should there be any additional changes.

*For anyone who is sick, please do NOT attend. Stay home! You can easily reschedule to a future class date. If we notice you are sick and not taking proper precautions, we will ask you to leave, as you may be endangering the health of others. ZERO tolerance on this!
