Experiencia fantástica: My 16 year old daughter just took her DPS road test at Travis Driving School and I cannot say enough good things about this business. They made her feel at ease even though she was extremely nervous. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and the instructor was very informative on things she needed to work on. Great place. I am so happy we came here to take the test.

Experiencia positiva: I had a decent experience, but I won't come here again. My instructor didn't explain things clearly enough and got frustrated when I repeated a mistake, even though it was my first time driving. Also, about a week before my originally scheduled appointment they pressured me into changing my appointment to a more recent date since someone had cancelled. But, the person I was in contact with was professional and changed my date back after I couldn't make the new date. The area where they teach people how to drive is not ideal, in my opinion.

She immediately sent the necessary links for my teen to watch the required videos before taking the driving test. Brandi Duke is an amazing driving instructor—my teen gained so much confidence after just his first class. It was such a relief to see him driving safely and hearing him explain what Ms. Brandi taught him during the lesson. After calling multiple driving schools and feeling like they didn’t have the time to explain the process (with some saying it would take six months for my teen to even start, his first driving lesson), I knew after speaking with Yolanda that this driving school truly cares about their clients. They understand how stressful this process can be for both teens and parents. Yolanda made it so easy. Great team!

Experiencia negativa: For context: I failed a road test because I slowed down before the right turn. (slow down, not full stop). Ok, happening, discussible, but let's say the examiner was correct. Also, for context - I have a foreign driving license and years of experience. I rented cars several times here in the USA and drove a few thousand miles but never had tickets. Let's assume I have a basic understanding of how to drive. What confused me was his advice and driving style: 1) This is literally from him: It would be best not to stop on the stop signal before the stop line. My direct question was, how is it? Is it a violation of the law? He answered that the law is not essential, and everyone with a driving license drives this way. But he is okay with me doing it during the driving test. 2) He didn't slow down before the pedestrian crossing in the resident area when he drove. Some SUV was parked right before it, blocking the view of the entrance. Any short kid could be easily hidden behind it when I asked why - you should check this upfront. Probably with my x-ray view =) 3) Before the exam, we discussed some advice from the Texas Driving Book. He said the book needed to be corrected, and what I mentioned was a good paper; in the real world, this would be incorrect. And some more frustrating facts... What was good: 1) All was on time. 2) Everyone was friendly, including the examiner.

My experience was amazing! The front desk lady was quick and test administrator Alan was incredible. At this school they genuinely care for the safety of you, staff, and others! He was also very detailed in criticism pertaining to driving skills so please do consider taking your courses or tests with Travis Driving School.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a great experience over all with Travis Driving School. I took 9 hours lesson and the road side test with them. Scheduling was pretty flexible as I had a trip in between lessons. Rick was my instructor, he helped me get comfortable on the road and told me what I need to practice on after each lesson to better myself. Most importantly, he took me to the parallel parking course early, so I managed to nail that down quickly. John was my road test examiner. He shared what he thought on my driving skills, what I need to improved on, which is welcomed even though I passed on the first try. He also asked on what I thought of the test route and what I thought I can do better. I highly recommend TDS!

Experiencia fantástica: I went to Travis driving school for a road test because i couldn’t transfer my overseas drivers licence to the U.S. and to go through the whole process again (which was pretty annoying). Luckily, Adrienne (not sure how to spell her name) at the front desk was nice and let me know the steps needed after I passed. Alan was a good instructor. He let me know how I went and what to improve on. The road test area is busy, I had a few public drivers not indicate in front of me, one ran a light. So I’d suggest finding a driving time that’s not too busy. Peak hour would be stressful. Overall I can recommend this driving school.

I have been driving in my home country for a couple of years and again learned and adopted new things to catch up here.. I followed all his instructions precisely but yet failed and got importantly got vague feedback where I was expecting constructive feedback to be able to improve where I lacked.. I believe the training program they offer might have been great which I did not enroll into but not good in terms of feedback they provide..

After practicing for good 4 weeks and again took the appointment and the examiner again failed me in my 2 attempt saying that I was +5 above the speed limit. Wow!! They will deliberately fail you and get money out your pocket. They also pitch you for taking more lessons from them. Worst Examiner at TRAVIS Driving School - AUSTIN.

Experiencia negativa: I recently had a negative experience with Travis Driving School, and I feel compelled to share my story. Despite having over 10 years of driving experience in my home country, I decided to take a two-hour driving lesson with them to familiarize myself with US roads, specifically those in Texas. After completing the lesson, the instructor assured me that I was ready to take my DPS test, which I also did with them. During my first attempt, I found the examiner's conduct unprofessional, especially when he used a timer during parallel parking. Moreover, he seemed to suggest that I needed additional lessons by mentioning his availability until 2 PM. Despite this experience, I booked another test with a different examiner, who criticized me for being too slow and recommended six hours of additional lessons. Feeling discouraged, I initially decided not to return but reconsidered when the manager offered a discounted DPS test. However, my experience repeated itself with the same examiner, who failed me for slowing down in an intersection and looking around to ensure no pedestrian was around and nobody was behind me. After this ordeal, I chose to switch to a different driving school and successfully passed my DPS test on my first attempt. My confidence was severely impacted, and I regret the time and money I invested with Travis Driving School. I share this experience solely as a cautionary tale. I urge others to thoroughly consider all factors before choosing a driving school for their test.

During the first attempt,the instructor did not even speak or make me comfortable,he focused only on instructions,and I failed …b4 second attempt surprisingly the instructor gave me some advice like we will see positioning,control and all..and during entire attempt he continuously told me I have to do this and all..Which was all distracted me a lot..at last he told I am failed ..he asked me to join some 2 hour course if I wish…..,my question is why both attempts they r not behaving same….I passed in dps office …..I request them pls consider each attempt special and each individual important…

My teacher (Patrick) was very friendly and we started from ground zero and covered all elements needed to pass an exam and to drive safely on the roads. After the exam, the examinator told me what I could've done better. I was able to pass my exam on the first try thanks to my great teacher, but I do understand that there are still some gaps in my driving skills that I will need to cover with more practice. Was super nervous.Adam sir was the examiner, i really liked how he guided me throughout the road test and at the end helped me understand my shortcomings and how i can improve that. I will keep working towards improving my shortcomings. I did pass the road test. Overall definitely recommend Travis Driving School.

Experiencia negativa: I took 6 hrs of training followed by the DPS road test 3 times. The practice sessions here were good and I improved quite a bit. During the practice session I was told clearly that I am almost ready and with a little more practice driving myself, I can pass the DPS road test. However, unfortunately I did not pass the DPS test despite 3 attempts. I was aware of the mistakes I did first time and I improved during the second attempt and I have been practising hard myself for almost 6 months now. I dont have complaints about failing the tests since the examiners have their guidelines and reasons no matter how nitpicky they seem. However more honest and friendly guidance from the instructors would have been helpful rather than telling me I was ready and then giving me pretty harsh feedback on the test. I wish the feedback after practise sessions could have been more honest. A better way would have been to judge my skills accurately and recommend me to take more training, since my anticipated performance on the test should already have been visible in my training sessions. Tl;dr In short, I felt that the school doesn't fulfil the duty of mentoring, training and encouraging candidates to ensure that they are fully prepared and ready to succeed in the DPS road test. I can't recommend the school for inexperienced drivers.

Experiencia negativa: My wife had a very bad experience with the DPS road test here. The examiner of her road test had a different set of expectations & rules than the instructor who trained her during practice sessions. And the examiners of her DPS road test were very rude and discouraging. They have the intention of failing the candidates just to make you pay a huge fee and take their lessons again. I would recommend looking at a different Driving school for anyone looking to pass the DPS road test.
