Wheelers Driving School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: So I signed my wife up for this class because of Wheelers Driving school being so close and the only 1 to take a legal immigrant. She came to America on a K1 Visa. Most schools within good driving distance would not take her for mainly 2 reasons. The first main reason was her age being over 18 or because they only took people with certain disabilities that are approved for driving (I think is what 1 said). So I found Wheelers with a google search and gave the number a call. The teacher picked up and took my wife THAT DAY! No excuses or whatever. And my wife and I were really wanting a driving school. Not just the online tests/practice. We also wanted a driving school that is affordable. The other school we found that would take her (which is also far away) was over $1000! So we chose this schools. I am VERT PLEASED I happened to miss the reviews on google as they are ALL WRONG! That is from the previous owner/teacher. Just call the number outside of class hours and she will call back if she does not pick up. The new owner is trying to salvage this company. DO NOT listen to the bad reviews! They do not apply now that Wheelers Driving school is under new ownership/management. Very good school and my wife has enjoyed her time here!
Fantastic experience: We used Wheelers years ago for our son and we were not impressed with Sam. We learned a new company was started with new instructors and we were very impressed. Our daughter had a great experience! Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Our son had a great time at Wheelers! We will be sending our other 2 children to Wheelers as well. Great experience!
Fantastic experience: My daughter absolutely loved doing her drives with Wheelers. She is thankful the instructor was nice and fun and we would recommend Wheelers to everyone!
Negative experience: Do not give your money to this place. They only answer phone if they think you are a new customer. It’s been 2 months and they haven’t called once. Called from a different number and they finally answered only to hang up and then send all calls after to voicemail. Total scam. Can’t believe they are still in business.
Negative experience: Local Parents — A Caution About Wheeler Driving School I want to share our experience with Wheeler to help other families make informed choices. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience with them. They were consistently unresponsive to messages and calls, misrepresented their availability when we signed up, saying they could schedule drives within 4-6 weeks but were much much longer. We had to contact them multiple times to schedule and they mostly offered times during the school day. They canceled scheduled drives — making the whole process stressful and frustrating. I wish we had known this before committing time and money. I would not recommend this business, and I encourage others to do their research and explore more reliable options.
Negative experience: Poor communication with this place, instructors showed up late at least twice, one day the instructor didn't show up for class at all. They gave us a $25 gift card to make up for gas expenses which extended the class by the following week. One of the owners that offered the gift card claimed they would sit in on the class to ensure there would be no further issues and they never sat in the class. Only highlight to this place was the instructor Sam. My daughter said he was a great instructor, only downfall is that Sam is retired and only fills in when needed. For the driving portion they said they were a month out for instructional driving. We have currently called every single day for the past week and left several voicemails to schedule a time for our daughter and have yet to receive a phone call back. Although the idea of getting driver's ed done in 2 weeks sounds amazing, it's not amazing to go through through this business. Lack of professionalism and communication has left us wishing we had gone somewhere else. Edit update a month from 1st post: Just received a call to set up driving hrs. Keep in mind my daughter finished class mid April and it's currently july5th. We informed them we had tried to get ahold of someone through email, phone calls, left voicemail, and even went in person and have been unable to get ahold of anyone. They claimed they were 10 weeks out for driving instructional time and then had an issue with the state and were now operational, the lady over the phone alleged they stated on their website they weren't currently open, but I checked the website frequently and never saw anything posted on their website. Google also showed them as open for business.
Negative experience: They will take your money and never call you back. We put are kid in the class after weeks of calling to get a call back. Now a month later we have called every day for two weeks to try to schedule the driving part and still no call back. At this point we have paid for something and not received everything. So the next step I guess is taking them to small claims court.
Negative experience: Have been trying to enroll my daughter for several weeks. Wheelers is horrible in communicating. Have left several messages and emails with no response from them. I have even stopped by their location multiple times. Business hour don’t exist for this company. Would never recommend this company to anyone. Trying to connect with Wheelers is a waste of time. I don’t know how they are in business.
Fantastic experience: I enjoyed my time
Fantastic experience: Tim was a great instructor and did a great job.
Negative experience: Registering for driving school is very difficult. Cindy is not helpful and unprofessional. She hung up on me when I was seeking information. The worst experience I've had with a local business in recent years. I like to support local businesses when I can, but not this one. Avoid if possible.
Fantastic experience: Sam DeBella is an excellent teacher. His instructions are crystal clear. He made me feel safe, comfortable, and confident before my exam. If he teaches you, and you practice what you’re taught, you’re totally set. Thank you Sam. We appreciate you.
Fantastic experience: Very nice people! Teachers are good with the students. Happy my kids went here.
Fantastic experience: I drive better now
Negative experience: At 5:05pm on June 21 in downtown Troy Ohio, a blonde woman in a Wheeler Driving School Ford SUV was clearly texting while driving. I wouldn't recommend this driving school to anyone simply for that reason. If they cant be disciplined to drive correctly themselves, how can they teach others to be?
