Andover Auto School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I had two terrible experiences with other driving schools, and I actually paused taking classes because I was so disappointed. I prayed and prayed for something better, and Andover Driving School truly fell right into my lap — it was the blessing I needed. Rafa is AMAZING. He takes his time, teaches everything step by step, and never makes you feel embarrassed or stupid. He supported me from start to finish, even holding my hand through the entire road-test process. Because of his patience, guidance, and the way he builds your confidence, I was able to pass my road test on my second try! I’m so grateful I found this school. It really was the best thing that could’ve happened to me.
Negative experience: We took the class and got the learning permit and my son is driving with me to get some hours done before he can drive with the school. I have called the school many times during random hours throughout the day and week, nobody ever picked up the phone. You have to leave a message and god bless you pray someone call you back. But, the time I left them a message that I need to pay to sign up, I got an invoice like in a second. Yup that was the only time they get back to you in lightning speed. Wish I didn't sign up with this school but the location was super convenient. I stopped by their office today around 1 pm, NOT a soul in the office. No wonder. I don't know why they even bother to have an office if nobody ever works. My youngest child when ready is ABSOLUTELY not signing up with them.
Negative experience: Today, around 10:30 AM, an Andover auto school vehicle ran a stop sign in my neighborhood and almost hit my vehicle. When I honked my horn, the instructor made a rude gesture. I advise everyone to avoid this auto school. Ridiculous
Fantastic experience: We were so Blessed & Fortunate to have found Andover Auto School; our shy and extremely nervous daughter found so much relief from Frank, the Auto Instructor and Owner along with Trisha. They were both so very Patient, Kind & Knowledgeable !!! It is without hesitation that we “Highly Recommend” Andover Auto School for those in pursuit of a Drivers License… They are truly “Top Notch” in the Industry !!! THANK YOU FRANK !!!
Negative experience: Not a great look when you’re driving in town and you see a teaching instructor behind the wheel, texting and driving….
Negative experience: Esa escuela es como cualquier escuela
Fantastic experience: Excelente escuela y la persona muy amable y atenta
Fantastic experience: Hi, This is directed at Kim Scott that stated the instructor was asleep during the online classes (that were held during covid only as we are back to in person instruction). My name is Linda Lavallee and I emphatically disagree with your statement as I am the driving instructor who taught the online classes and I can assure you that at NO time did I EVER fall asleep! If you see this I would appreciate it if you would call Andover Auto School so we could get some clarification as to why you are stating this as fact, because as I said I am the teacher. For anyone else reading this I 100% deny this ever happening! I love my job and take teaching students to drive very seriously so please disregard her statement as it did not happen, thank you
Fantastic experience: Great instructors!! I had both Harry and Sebastian they were both very kind and informative. I learned a lot during my classes as well. I have taken the information with me and used every time I drive. Very helpful. Would 100% recommend!!!
Negative experience: Instructor was asleep on screen during class, and we were never able to schedule road lessons. I had to get a "partial" refund and bring my daughter to Chelmsford Auto School where they are very professional and we schedule with an online portal.
Fantastic experience: Great instructors and overall great experience. Would definitely recommend!!!
Fantastic experience: Good local business that gave my boys excellent training.
Fantastic experience: My daughter went through Andover Auto 2 years ago. I have to say we were very pleased with the class and the onroads. All her friends were having trouble getting time slots for their on roads and when it came to schedule the license test her friends were getting the "run around". Have to say that wasn't our experience. This being our 1st time, and everything went smoothly. She was one of few of her friends that acutally got her license right on time. Which was perfect it was 2 weeks before her junior year. Going through the process with daughter number 2. Her first onroad is this Sunday with Henry. Thanks...
Fantastic experience: Took my driver's ed class here and also did my on roads. This Auto School goes by your schedule and it's awesome. Had Harry as my instructor and he's great. Very calm and of you're a good driver you'll earn his trust quickly. He is very reasonable and points out things that really do help. I still have his phone number and asked him If I were allowed to drive in New Hampshire with a Mass Permit and he informed me that they require a birth certificate. It was very helpful for the vacation I was going on. This place is great!
Fantastic experience: Great instructors, tailor to your schedule, do not over book. They will always find Time for you.
Fantastic experience: Don't listen to the flake that gave one star. I had a great learning experience.
Fantastic experience: I had the best auto school experience here. I went to a few others before and here I got the service and knowledge needed to be a good driver and to pass my test. I would recommend to anyone and everyone.
Negative experience: DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS SCHOOL. IT WAS A HORRIBLE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. Now I passed my driving exam yesterday. You would think I am happy right? WRONG. I am over 18 and took drivers ed voluntarily because I thought it would be a great learning experience. THE CLASS: I took the week long class and the woman instructor would show us old VHS's from the 1980's. She would be on her phone every five minutes and trashed the owner (FRANK). She would give us work sheets and never explain what anything meant. She would tell us to read the book. So I paid $650 dollars to have someone to tell me to read? yeah no thank you. THE ON ROADS: I got stuck with an 70 year old instructor named Harry who didn't care about anything. He would sit back, blare music, and was very rasist. I would asking him a question about driving and he would tell me to "shut up and stop asking questions." I thought drivers ed was a place where you ask questions about driving... THE EXAM: I passed the exam. But the man from the RMV was highly unprofessional. The examiner, another student (had austism), and the owner (frank) were all in the car with me during my exam. I chose to go first. We started my exam 15 minutes early and the man from thte RMV was still rushing me. I passed and he asked for my MASS ID. I questioned why but he said "just go get it" Once I gave it to him, he told me that I am not allowed to have two forms of ID and stated my temporary liscense will be valid on Monday morning. So I am expected to wait two weeks for my lisence to come in the mail before I have proper identification. I bought this ID for 50 dollars so I could buy simple things like cold medicine while I am away at school. Did you not know that you need an ID to buy cold medicine? After begging for it back, he threatened to rip up my permit and said I didn't deserve to pass.If I didn't deserve to pass, why did he pass me? This man conducted himself in a very unprofessional manner. Not to mention he put my MASS ID in his pocket. Why didn't he destroy it like they are supposed to? Is my ID being sold as a fake on the side? These are all questions I have that I know the RMV wont clear up. Meanwhile, the other student was taking his exam and the examiner from the RMV told him to act like a "normal person". I am not saying that this kid derserved to pass but the examiner was wrong for making fun of his disability. Frank also encoureged this act of foolishness and laughed along. The only decent employee I met at this company was Steve who does the booking. he conducted himself in a very professional manner and I have not complaints for him IF THE OWNER FRANK IS READING THIS: 1.) Do not contact me to take this down. It is the truth about your business. 2.) Most of your employees do not respect you. They do not follow the rules and are not teaching the majority of the time. 3.) SHAME ON YOUR FOR NOT STANDING UP FOR THAT STUDENT WITH AUTISM. yOU ARE THERE TO BE OUR SPONSER. THE MAN FROM THE RMV SHOULD NOT DISRESPECT STUDENTS LIKE THAT.HE WAS CLEARLY ON A POWER TRIP AND WAS WILLING TO HURT STUDENTS THAT ARE DISABLED. 4.) You will loose your business if you continue to conduct it in this manner.
I am very sorry that you feel this way. However, MASS law states that you cannot have 2 forms of ID. Therefore, you would have to turn your MASS issued ID into the RMV at some point. The RMV instructor tried doing you a favor by saying that he would take the ID from you and turn it in for you, saving you hours of waiting in line at the RMV Monday or sometime after therefore prolonging the time it would take for you to get your now issued license. The RMV instructor was very clear in this fact and then made you aware of what he was doing and how he was trying to help you. He even took the time to get out of the car to try and help calm you down after you became visibly upset over the fact that you cannot have two forms of ID per MASS law. After telling you your options, the instructor took your mass ID and placed it the cup holder in the car to be turned in with the other paperwork.
I was confused to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience taking on roads with Harry considering the fact that you told me in the car during your road test that he had nothing but nice things to say about me, never once stating that you had a problem with him. I also find it confusing that you didn't enjoy the experience considering you did in fact pass your Road Test. Making it apparent that we did in fact teach you everything you need to know to be a licensed driver in MASS. Harry has been a licensed driving instructor for over 16 years and has gotten many compliments from parents as well as recommendations for siblings to also have him as their instructor since they loved him so much. As a matter of fact, Harry takes his job so seriously that he asked me first thing Saturday morning if his students passed, especially the ones he knows really need their license cause they may be going to college.
As far as the other student that you claim has autism; I am not sure how you came to this assumption considering it was never made apparent to any of us that he did. I was in the car for the test and do not recall hearing the comment you say the RMV instructor made. I do know that we have had students in the past who have told us before taking drivers ed that they have a learning disability of some sort and they have gone on to complete the program and get their license.
As a company that has been in this industry for over 30 years we understand that we will not always be able to please everyone that comes through our program. However, we must be doing something right to be able to stay in business for all these years and be able to get kids like you their license. This makes it evident again that taking drivers ed is in fact not a waste of money, and that we taught you everything you needed to know to pass your test.
Once again, I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience with us, however I feel that we did our job by giving you the knowledge in the classroom and the skills via on road instructions to pass your road test with us. As far as the RMV instructor goes, I have dealt with this instructor many times in the past and seen him deal with many situations and feel as though he has always handled himself in a professional manner and done his job to the best of his ability.
Thank you for your time and I hope that you enjoy being a licensed driver in MASS, something you are able to be with the help of Andover Auto School.
