Fantastic experience: Michael is a great driving instructor. He is knowledgeable and patient.

Fantastic experience: Michael is a great, super nice & a very good instructor. He taught me how to drive in just 2 weeks, and now I have a license. He prepared me so well for the drive test, that I passed the test without making any mistake. I practiced in his car first and then in my own car. I recommend him to everyone especially new drivers. I was so hesitant to drive at first, but after just taking one class with him, I got so much confidence and courage. Thanks to him I know how to drive even better than some people I know.

Fantastic experience: An excellent instructor. Taught much more about driving than just simply "steering the wheel." I learned a lot and strongly recommend.

Negative experience: Don’t even know where to begin just a Terrible driving instructor. Says not to look over shoulder whilst switching lanes or merging on the freeway. I recommended one of my friends to him. He completed his course but still said he needs more practice. Goes to show how terrible this guy is. But that’s not the worst of it. He was late to several lessons. Tried to get me to drive to Portland when I barely knew how to master his stupid method of turning the wheel. He’s stated he’s had clients almost getting themselves killed because they’re not experienced enough. Portland is for good drivers not noobs. He’d also blame me for the weird sounds his rust bucket Ford Taurus made. He says he’s taught people with neurodivergence like myself and said he would get folks driver ready in time. Absolutely not. One day I told him I couldn’t make it to a lesson due to a sickness. Guess what happened after that? He never came back the following week. Took my money, and wasted my time. I didn’t drive that bad or turned the wheel incorrectly until I went to this guy. He would tell you “do less not more” well it’s pretty hard when you tell me to count while Turning or just borderline say too many things at once. I’m certain it would make anyone neurodivergent or not confused. It’s just ridiculous. He’s even stated he’s had several clients miserably fail their tests. Goes to show how poor his methods in teaching are. Absolutely nothing he says makes sense. Do not go to this guy.

Fantastic experience: Michael is the best driving instructor and I have learned a lot from him, especially defensive driving. I was not confident before in driving but now I am able to drive outside Salem, from highways to back roads. He even have a final driving session going to Portland. I am grateful that he is able to teach me and with his help I was able to pass the DMV test in one take.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Mike's services. He taught me how to drive the right way, and now I drive better than all of my friends. He also knows how to teach manual, which is a major plus.

Positive experience: The instructor, Mr. Phelps, was good and nice to get along with. We even had some fun conversations while driving. He even lent me his book and gave me chocolates!

Fantastic experience: Teacher is calm and helpful, available anytime, best prices, you don't need a car yourself. The driving/book work is the best option, the book work is definitely helpful and I recommend having you permit before starting lessons to get the full drive time you can.

Fantastic experience: Daughter just passed her test for her license after a few lessons with Mike. He taught with the patience we didnt have. Shopped around and his rates were the best. He will pick up and drop off, so that helped out with scheduling. Definitely recommend! Thanks Mike!

Fantastic experience: I just got my license through Mike, and I took his full course, and I must say not only does he have the best rates, but he is extremely accommodating to the driver and he is extremely thorough with his lessons. Not to mention in comparison to other driving courses in the Salem area, he provides the most driving hours, and includes on how to be a safe driver, and doesn't just teach you how to drive. I would highly recommend him to any aspiring drivers out there!

Fantastic experience: I’ve had my permit since I was 17 always scared to drive decided enough was enough and hired motor palm. He worked with me every day and made sure I was ready and could pass my license test, and made sure I was comfortable with all sorts of driving situations. I’m very appreciative for all his hard work.

Fantastic experience: Mike has taught both of my boys to drive. His rates are the best around, but more importantly, his goal is not just to "get them to pass," but to create SAFE drivers! As a mom, this is what matters most to me. He is also offers a lot of flexibility with scheduling. He will be the first one we call when my girls are ready to learn.

Fantastic experience: Michael has been great to work with. I've had all three of my boys receive lessons from him and so far 2 of them have successfully obtained their drivers license. I must give extra kudos as I have one child with severe driving anxiety and other child has autism. Not the easiest to teach but he has been patient throughout the entire process. He has made the lessons enjoyable and informative. As a parent, I've enjoyed the ease of communication and peace of mind in knowing Michael doesn't just want your child to pass...he wants them to be safe drivers afterwards. His availability and rates are great and I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

Fantastic experience: Michael is so caring about our daughter. She has had mental health struggles this past year and Michael has been more than willing to show forth patients, care, concern, and re-scheduling his time to help with her. She is not just a client of his but he has set his heart to become a friend of our family. His decisions are based in concern for our daughter rather than his financial benefits being a focus. It is a joy and a blessing to know Michael!
