I learned so much in those 2 sessions. Out of all of the expensive equipment I've purchased to build out my rig, the cost of this class was by far the best expense dollar for dollar. Fantastic experience: The Fundamentals Driving Course these folks host was amazing and it left my wife and I with confidence about the capabilities of our truck and even ourselves. The instructors were super knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. The obstacle course was well designed to handle much of what will be encountered on the trails.

Fantastic experience: Taking OEX's "Fundamentals Driving Course" was both extremely informative and fun. Tony Cerruto is a great instructor, and clearly knows his stuff. The Troy NC (Uwharrie) training location is large and perfect to hone your skills, knowledge and experience. I highly recommend it.

Fantastic experience: The instructors really know what they are doing. They all are great teachers. They explain the basics first, then they take us on the obstacle course. They instruct you on how to handle each element of the obstacle course building on the principles taught in the classroom. Even if you have been off-roadding for a while, you will definitely get something out of the class. Their recovery class is outstanding as well. They go over every piece of recovery gear they have, and it is very extensive. They teach you how to use all the gear safely. They also have hands on with a bunch of their recovery gear. They even end with a real life recovery situation using their progressive aggressiveness. Demonstrating a genetic recovery. Very highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Did the 1-day fundamentals off roading class today and it was excellent. Great mix of information and instruction; excellent obstacle course to demonstrate and practice real world situations; and then a lengthy ride through some beautiful countryside and trails, hills, and more trails and hills. Incredible value for your money. Thanks John, Jay and Craig - excellent job!

Fantastic experience: Great bunch of overland driving enthusiast who want to help each student understand the principals of driving in 4WD touring. I benefitted most from understanding my own vehicle and it's capabilities which was more then I thought. The conceptual approach to teaching how to drive in 4WD was very helpful during the lecturer part of the morning and then getting to put into practice the concepts the rest of the day. This this a class for those who want to learn how to 4WD that is respectfully, responsibly and safe.

Fantastic experience: I'm already ready to go back! Attended the 1-day class in NC. LOVED IT! Great instruction and practice. Got 1-on-1 help from Izzy since I was driving a old Range Rover vs. a Jeep or Forerunner. I would like to go back and do the 2-day class which would repeat a few of the things from the 1-day class plus cover recovery work. Definitely recommend this place!

Fantastic experience: I couldn't have been happier with my day of instruction and driving from Tony and Kat. They were professional, knowledgeable, patient and confident. I learned so much about what my vehicle could do, but more importantly I learned proper driving techniques that will allow me to confidently get my vehicle into the woods and back - without destroying the beauty I came to see. I can't recommend OEX more highly.

Fantastic experience: I’m a fan of Overland Experts, at Uwharrie National Park, across from Eldorado Outpost, five miles or so from Badin Lake Campground. I took the 4WD-101 one day course a couple years ago, with a Wrangler. The men told me then, come on over any time, so I recently took my Tacoma through the mogul small course, up a couple hills, checking out my approach angles, seeing if the new vehicle was up for easy trail rides. She passed the test with flying colors! :-) (3” lift on 33” tires, daily driver) it’s not old enough to tackle the toughest body-crashing rock krawler trails in the large park. Good for a family friendly trail ride down to the river & back, it’ll ford a creek...wouldn’t take it to high-level wheelin’. Would recommend this place—and a course—for those serious about learning safety, recovery techniques, driver & vehicle capabilities, and Tread Lightly wise use of our public lands.
