Fantastic experience: From the very beginning, signing up with Sam to the yard dealing with nick and bob. Annett was also great. Very professional and respectful people. Love their jobs and are willing to help you however you need it. Sam and Annett are very nice people and will help you out whenever you ask, They are on it with quick responses. On the yard, very calm and respectful. Nick and Bob are amazing teachers that have patience. They are willing to help, even when it’s outside of school they are very understanding ( in my case I injured my knee) professional, respectful and love teaching others is what your getting at 160 yard in Sacramento and 160 all together. I own my own hauling business and I recommend this school to anyone that wants to learn.

Fantastic experience: Before 160 I did hard work in the agriculture and construction industry. I needed a new career path, I was tired of being laid off and looking into CDL training, felt this could be a great career for me. I visited 160, met Sam who helped me connect with Ca Human Development who gave me the opportunity to train here. I probably wouldve given up due to costs had it not been for the resources Sam shared and CHD was very helpful. I want to thank 160 for this life changing opportunity to start a new career. I also want to thank the yard staff who gave me the training I appreciate Arturo and Rick, Blair who motivated me to not give up. They are easy going and want to see students succeed. I couldn't have asked for better instructors. I got my taskers endorsement, Sam the branch manager met with me and set me up with two jobs 1 temporary so I can earn money now and another for a longterm career opportunity using my tankers. Fantastic experience: I just graduated from 160 Driving Academy and had a great experience. Before signing up, I checked out three different schools, but 160 stood out. What sold me was meeting Sam Mendoza, the branch manager in Stockton. He explained the whole training process really well and laid out exactly what the program offered. Plus, knowing they had locations all over the country gave me confidence in the company. The training itself was solid. The instructors knew their stuff and made sure I was ready. I ended up passing my CDL on the first try, which felt amazing! After I graduated, Sam didn't just wish me luck and send me on my way-he helped with my resume and finding job opportunities too. Fantastic experience: Not all CDL schools are created equally, 160 Driving Academy provides a nationally recognized certificate and transcripts with training that uses technology to keep their students on track. The instructors genuinely care about the student's success and wellbeing, and run a safe training yard I could feel comfortable in. The Truckers Network app (swipe left to decline or right to apply directly to jobs to recruiters who are hiring) is a cool job resource/app for graduates. With financing available, it was easy for me to sign up for classes and they were the best price for a nationally leading program. Don't go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: If you plan on entering truck driving as a new career this is a great school to get your start at. From the moment I started my application to the minute I started my classes there has always been an employee available to help me with any questions or concerns that I’ve had. The classes were extremely straightforward for me and any questions that I had about the course material were very few and in between. I was ecstatic when I was finally able to get my permit and get onto the yard to practice all that I had learned online. It was a tad bit intimidating but my instructor Rick was extremely helpful in easing the overwhelming feeling that you get when stepping onto a truck for the first time. He explained the parts piece by piece showing us how they worked and the importance of them for both on our driving tests and on the road. When we finally did drive he was right next to us the entire time giving us the patience we needed and the advice that helped me to better understand the movement and weight of the truck in motion. I can now proudly say that I am confident in the truck and I cannot wait to start this new chapter of my life. Sam Mendoza has been extremely helpful in helping me to start this new chapter by helping me with my resume and giving me all the tools I need to find job opportunities that work with my life.

Fantastic experience: If you are looking to receive your cdl in automatic or manual, look no further than 160 academy. They gave the best tips on successfully passing the dmv course. I would drive over an hour on my days off from work to work on my skills to get my cdl and it was worth it. Great instructors and amazing guidance

Fantastic experience: I want to thank the all staff at 160 driving academy in Stockton CA. I entered not knowing how to operate tractor/trailer or anything about air brakes and how it works. Blair, Ruben, Rick, Mike and Luis are great instructors, easy going and understanding. They have showed me everything step by step on what to do and what not to do while operating a tractor/trailer, I have learned a lot from them. I also want to thank Sam at the office!! If your looking for a career change or even to get your class A or B license, even just to have. I highly recommend 160 Driving Acadamy out here in Stockton CA. Five starts lets goooo!!

Fantastic experience: First and foremost, I would like to highly recommend 160 driving Academy to others. Truck driving is not as easy as it sounds but with having a guide like Sam & an instructor like Rick and Blair on the yard, you can’t go wrong. Sam is in the office there to guide you and help you on your journey and answer any questions that you may have. He’s an encouragement and uplifts your spirits. Then down at the yard you have instructors Blair and Rick who are incredible instructors that put their heart into this and really divinely and genuinely care about their students. Blair and Rick went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and encourage me throughout my whole process. I struggled really bad with anxiety and being very shy. Blair and Rick helped me to push through and encouraged me. They lifted my spirits enough to believe in myself. All the instructors at 160 Driving Academy are amazing but Blair and Rick really put their heart into helping me and educating me personally and gave me the confidence that I needed to pass. I got my CDL license February 6, 2025, and I literally burst out in tears at the DMV in front of the instructor because that dedication and hard work finally paid off.

Fantastic experience: I learned a great deal at 160 Blair and Luis I just two of the trainers out there, but I learned so much from these two their style of teaching really helps things hit home easily very personable and encouraging guys if you’re looking for a place to begin learning how to operate a semi truck the school can definitely help you out I struggled with the manual transmission one day out with Blair and Luis s two different trips change my whole style and I passed my test on the first shot.

Fantastic experience: My experience in 160 driving Academy was amazing the instructors Luis, Ruben, Rick Mike even the instructor that comes from Fresno Emmanuel they all did amazing always understanding and patient and the lead instructor Blair was super helpful and will work with you no matter the situation one thing I can say they do lack on is the trucks always having issues it’s not on the instructors is corporate don’t wanna fix or buy a new truck other then that this school was amazing I’d recommend to anyone wanting to get their CDL

Fantastic experience: Got my license on the first try! Ricardo was very meticulous with helping us hone our skills, Mike and Luis gave us lots of good tips with driving, and Blair was caring and supportive of all of us. It's a good place to learn from your mistakes and improve before you proceed to your test. It was tough at times but totally worth it.

Fantastic experience: My experience @160 was nothing short of incredible. Being a newcomer to the trucking industry invited some apprehension however upon meeting my recruiter Samual Mendoza, I soon realized the folks behind this school have their hearts in every one of their students! In the Stockton campus I attended there was plentiful information and extremely talented instructors who have a burning passion for seeing students excel. Even after graduating there’s been a ton of further assistance in career growth and learning opportunities. If there was any gripes I could point out it’d be the limited and relatively older equipment that caused resistance in accelerating our learning curve. Nonetheless I’d highly recommend choosing 160 to begin your trucking career & by far was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in a very long time:)

Fantastic experience: 160 driving is a great academy, I never thought I would ever go back to school and have a great time doing it big shout out to sam he’s a very good guy always helped with his words of encouragement and motivation he always wants to see people succeed. Also a big shout out to the instructors Rick,Luis,Ruben,Mike and Ben they really know what their doing they really good teachers they show you their respect and are always trying to help they are a good team. By the time I went to take my test I felt really confident I started the course knowing nothing and I left a trucker. Overall I would recommend this academy to anyone who would like to enter the Career of a trucker.

Positive experience: I attended this school through career choice from Amazon, only attending 2 days out of the week I was alittle worried about having enough experience before taking my test at the dmv, but you get what you put into it. The trucks were old and sometimes out of service due to various reasons. I think more trucks and more instructors would benefit this school tremendously, it was alittle frustrating trying to get help when the only 2 instructors were helping other groups so you were left on your own quite a bit. Rick was a great instructor and helped alot with tightening up your skills and making sure you knew your pretrip like the back of your hand and Mike was a great instructor with the on the road training. They both seemed to care alot about the students having enough knowledge and experience and had enough patience to let you make mistakes so we can learn from them. All in all I had a great experience and learned alot. Like I said the only complaint I really had was the condition of the trucks, and maybe being in the fairgrounds with broken uneven asphalt was alittle frustrating but it only made me more confident in my abilities. Get new trucks and more instructors and this school would be top tier.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed my CDL with 160 Stockton. The coarse materials made it easy to get my license and add endorsements. I have everything but hazmat and 160 offers that coarse as well. They even sent me an email for a discount after I got my license. Blair, Rick and Mike are excellent instructors. They were also key to helping me target the right companies for employment afterwards. I start the job next week. Go get your license from these guys.

Fantastic experience: This place has its ups and down like any place should, but at the end of the day, so like as you listen to your instructors, Mike, Rick, Mel, and most importantly Blair and do your best to get better you’ll do just fine, but you have to put the work in yourself and so long as you strive to be better, you’ll get the job done.

Fantastic experience: My opinion about the program is that it has really changed a lot you can’t rely on old reviews because a lot has been improved by Blair , Rick is a good instructor I felt like I was discouraged before joining the program for being a girl but I feel like Rick understands that and keeps going over whatever you feel stuck at his teaching method makes everything really simple and easy Mike is also a good instructor they have their own ways of teaching all of them are approachable and open to talk to you about anything , we also have a lot of time to talk to each other as students and teach each other that is very useful to perfect your pre trip everyone wants to be behind the wheel all day but that’s not what it’s all about you have to learn what you verbally have to say at the dmv .

Negative experience: If you are from Amazon or career choice DON'T BOTHER! Choose a different school. There are lots to choose from. 100% take the time to visit the other schools and ask to see their trucks!!! I hope you like DIRT!! You will be training a dirt lot or broken asphalt at the fair grounds. As soon as there is a fair or event going on they kick everyone off to the side and the school has to do what they say. 160 doesn't have an office anymore. It's closed so no one cares to get a hold of you when the issues show up, and the issues WILL show up! The instructors badmouth each other. Then there is the ex cop Blair that chooses who he wants to instruct while ignoring others and only wants others to praise himself as emperor of the broken truck school. Blair is EGO driven so it's a roll of the dice depending on his mood, which swings like a barn door in a hurricane...watch out! Trucks are broke down all the time. They have several trucks there yes, but they are all broke! They lie and say "oh we are trying to find someone to fix it" its all lies my co-worker told me about this 8 months ago. When I told her i was attending 160 and told her the trucks were broke, she started laughing saying those same trucks were broke when she attended 8 months ago!!! GOOD LUCK or try another school!

Positive experience: Started this school via Amazon’s Career Choice program (separate from TOM). I attended two days out of the week. The theory portion was pretty straight forward. The first few weeks on the yard seemed a little disorganized, but it gave us time to study and memorize our pre-trip inspection and airbrakes as if it were second nature. Following that, we also got a new lead instructor that provided more structure to the program. Regarding skills and on the road driving; Mel, Ricardo, Blaire and Mike were instrumental in helping me get things down. The guys were willing to call out any of my mistakes and help me work through them, they are the instructors after all! I acquired my CDL-A on the first attempt. One thing I will add, you have to put in the effort and also be willing to work through any unforeseen circumstances.

Negative experience: My time here in the beginning was not so good, instructors only focused on Tom team people from Amazon which made you really discouraged from not getting the help you needed. And made you not wanna even bother going. Nothing was really explained you just showed up and did whatever. As another student said to me “they really didn’t teach me nothing I really had to learn from students already finishing”. They did bring another instructor in (blaire) that made everything organized and in order how it should be. I just wish they would have done that sooner. I was at the hours I needed to be and dropped days before my dmv test. If you wanna go to a school where trucks are somewhat decent,higher ups don’t care about nothing but themselves and the money you give them then this place is for you.

Negative experience: I regret wasting my time & money. Trucks are BROKE JUNK. You will wait hours or days to get behind the wheel of a broken truck. Once they get the money there is no one to talk to. The instructors have no clue. They throw up their hands and say "ohh i dunno about all that stuff thats above my pay grade". The other half of the instructors are walking off the job. They closed their office in stockton. NO ONE will return your call. I WANT MY REFUND!!!!

Fantastic experience: Got Mel as the instructor on the driving range, the experience is easy to digest and not intimidating, if you're with a large group you do get to stand for quite a bit while waiting your turn to hop on the truck, so bring clothes or gear for the season...

Fantastic experience: All of the instructors are helpful and are willing to slow down or dumb down for students new to clutching. Tony is very helpful and very spirited about trucking. Don’t take his criticism in a wrong way. He really desires you to learn skills needed to get your license. He will also help with placement or help on any contract concerns when you get hired to a company. James is very professional and down to earth. He takes ownership when it comes to instruction. Dave is the old timer that leads by example. The instructors are all seasoned and well equipped to teach. Thank you 160.

Fantastic experience: This trucking school is definitely worth the money. All of the instructors and management are very professional, caring, and truly are there to produce truck drivers. Joe, Ray, Dave, James, and Julie helped me to become a safe driver. They all know what their talking about and go above and beyond for their students .
