Ultimate Defensive Driving School

Negative experience: They’re based out of Pennsylvania but I had the misfortune of being stuck behind one of their instructors on the interstate in Chesapeake Virginia. This idiot was evidently not aware that the left lane of the interstate is for passing. In fact we have a move-over law for exactly this situation. The idiot in question rode out the left lane for 15-20 minutes, driving under the speed limit, causing traffic to pile up behind him. When I was finally able to get around him the moron driving proceeds to road rage out on me, ignoring the backup he caused behind him. Is this really the type of person or company you want to teach your children how to drive?

Fantastic experience: Excellent instruction and results for my teen daughter! I had a fantastic experience with this Jim and UDD. He was patient, knowledgeable, and made my daughter feel comfortable behind the wheel from day one. The lessons were well structured and focused on real world driving scenarios that actually prepared her for the test and beyond. The scheduling was flexible, and the staff was always professional and helpful. She passed her driving test on the first try thanks to their thorough preparation. I'd definitely recommend this school to anyone looking to learn to drive with confidence. Great value for the quality of instruction!

Going far beyond just the basic skillsets needed to pass a drivers exam, the focus on situational awareness, advanced thinking and preventative safe-driving skills puts Ultimate Defensive Driving far beyond any competitors. My daughter showed remarkable improvement in her skill sets, knowledge and confidence after every session, and the personalized, friendly service and client care by the Ultimate team made the training a pleasure. My son will definitely be signing up for Ultimate when he’s of age. I could not recommend this service more highly!

Fantastic experience: I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Ultimate Defensive Driving School. There are a few options around here and after researching for a while I decided to give them a try for my 16 year old daughter. She had very little practice and by the 4th lesson she was driving to Pittsburgh, confidently!! They not only teach our children how to drive, but how to do so safely while watching other drivers. We went from a child terrified to get behind the wheel and not wanting to drive to one that is confident and wanting to drive. I will be using them for my two younger children when they turn 16.

Fantastic experience: My 16 year old son joined Ultimate defensive driving and got his license with them. Joining it gave us a peace of mind and boosted his and our confidence when he drives alone. It was best decision that we parents made as it taught him minor to major things that makes him a safe driver.

Negative experience: Disappointed with the service. I signed my child up for driving lessons because I suffered an accident at the age of 18 that resulted in a death of one of our friends. I know all to well the dangers of teen driving and the respect teens need to have for a vehicle. The introduction was great. It’s a “scared smart” tactic that is real to life and something I think most kids need to see. After which we paid the $800 for my son’s driving sessions. The lessons themselves were well designed with good feedback…..that is when and if we got them. The communication with the instructor was TERRIBLE. She failed to tell us of appointments, would change the times last minute and canceled multiple times. Then she just stopped communicating at all! We did not receive all of the hours we paid for and was not offered any explanation. Now one could think maybe I caused this issue but this is the first and only negative feedback given mainly because we can’t even get anyone in the phone. I tried to speak to the main office and spoke to an older man and he was mean, nasty and wouldn’t even allow us to discuss the problem. In the end I think this good be a great program but their customer service is terrible and you may not get all the lessons you paid for. Sad they had an opportunity to touch the life of a child learning to drive and help heal the heart of a terrified mother and they blew it.

Brittany and the Ultimate Defensive Driving School focus on teaching our teens how to be safe on the road - NOT just how to pass their drivers' test - and I LOVE that! Fantastic experience: This is a great driving course that makes sure you’re ready for your driver’s test! I have anxiety, so I put off driving for a couple years. When I took this course, the instructor understood and took time to make me comfortable. I even passed my driver’s test on my first try! The parallel parking tips were definitely helpful for that, and I really feel like I have become a safer driver than I would be without this course.

Negative experience: First off I would like to recognize my nieces instructor Dave. Dave is amazing, he was great with my niece and very knowledgeable. But as for the process, the owner and Brittany- horrible. I am not going to rant but want to inform you all for the massive price that this instruction costs I was treated with massive disrespect when trying to schedule lessons. After emails, calls with no response Brittany finally emails me and says sorry I lost track of things juggling work and my children. Then tells me it will be over a month before they can start. Then Jim emails and says Brittany had a wrong number for you. I have a copy of the paper that was sent with the correct number on it, and an email that she says differently. Long story short he basically calls me a liar and defends Brittany. I have all texts and emails for proof. So no customer service! None! And at the orientation meeting when I asked him personally will you pick my niece up in Blawnox since I don’t live with her? He says oh yes we will pick them up take them to the lessons and the test. I asked do you go to new Kensington? Oh yes we do he says. But when I finally weeks later got to speak with Brittany she informs me that she is the only one that could pick her up at that location and take her to new ken and we had to wait a month to start. Not acceptable! Worst experience I have ever had! My advice don’t waste your money here, pick a different school that is much cheaper!

Fantastic experience: My son recently completed his driver's training with Ultimate Defensive Driving. He is our third child to go through the program, so obviously we think very highly of this training. When I initially signed him up, he was reluctant to go, but after one time in the car with Bobby, he couldn't wait for the next lesson. I could tell a difference in his driving after just one lesson. He said the corny sayings were very helpful as well as the "trick" for parallel parking. We highly recommend Ultimate Defensive Driving, and Bobby was a delight to say the least :) Thank you, Jim and Brittany, for this wonderful program!

Negative experience: They didn’t want to talk to anybody, said go to their web site. I did since I wanted to know about pricing and availability this was a useless waist of time.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was afraid to drive until we signed up with Ultimate Defensive Driving School. One lesson was all it took to remove her fear. After that, she went from being completely new at it to a competent driver in a very short time. My son also took lessons and also had a terrific experience. I would highly recommend it!

Fantastic experience: The name intrigued me so I hired them to teach my son. They did such a great job I asked them back when it was my daughter's turn. They really do teach defensive driving, that is, driving with a point of view that avoids hazardous situations. Ultimate Defensive Driving may cost a bit more, but they are well worth it, both in teen driver safety and parental peace of mind.

Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend Ultimate Defensive Driving School to anyone. The program is worth every penny and has instilled in my daughter a very cautious and careful way of driving. Denise was a fantastic instructor and gave her many tips on being a defensive driver and always being aware of what's going on around her. My son also used this program back in 2007 and has NEVER had an accident.

Fantastic experience: Both of my kids went through Ultimate Defensive Driving and received outstanding instruction from Jim Clair. He taught the kids things that I never even knew or thought of about driving. On the last class, he had them drive to downtown Pittsburgh, which is something that I never would do. Cannot say enough good things about Ultimate Defensive Driving, but one thing I can say is that I gave my kids the best possible gift to keep them safe behind the wheel.
