Harlem Driving School: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Muy agradecida con las atenciones!! En especial con el instructor que me toco OSCAR el mejor bendiciones
Fantastic experience: L'endroit idéal pour ceux qui veulent apprendre à conduire
Fantastic experience: Kensy Bonjour
Fantastic experience: Very helpful from when I first came in to the class to my last class I always felt like I was learning something and walked away better then the last time I was behind the wheel.
Fantastic experience: Is a great school! I recommend 100%. They’ll make sure you learn everything you need to pass the road test and learn how to drive.
Fantastic experience: La recomiendo la logre mi license
Fantastic experience: Very nice trainer In person of Mr Ahmed.
Negative experience: Basically they are scamming people out of their money. I have 10+ skills. My SC license expired and so I have to start over im NY. I paid for 5/hour class, 2 lessons, the car, road test. They booked my road in between my 2 lessons. Then wanted me to take 5 more lessons after saying my driving is good. Then wanted me to pay extra to scheduled the road test earlier. I didn't agree to them scheduling it early. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DRIVING SCHOOL!!
Fantastic experience: Un lugar muy acojedor
Negative experience: I will never recommend anyone to use Harlem driving school. Very good at taking your money, very lousy and unprofessional. Secretary was very confused. She told me my test drive was at 12pm. She realized she screwed up called me at 10am to meet Harlem driving instructor. He was upset and penalized me 15 minutes for being late. I spoke to the instructor and he did not care.
Fantastic experience: This is a great driving school. I had a limited amount of time to take lessons and take my road test. Mariama worked with me and scheduled as many lessons as she could before I took my road test. After driving for four days (seven lessons) I passed my road test. Juan was an excellent instructor. He made sure I was prepared and knew exactly what to expect for the road test. Roberto, the five hour teacher was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of tips for the road test! Overall I had a great experience and am very grateful.
Negative experience: This is a joke of a school. Mike was the instructor. He is a bald white middle age male. He was completely unprofessional. We spent 2 hours literally talking about "his Story". Complete waste of time. He would force us to call him "Daddy" and would get into tangents on how homosexuality is a sin and how messed up the world is today. We spent legit 30-45 minutes talking about actual driving. I learned absolutely nothing about driving. He would constantly yell out "Your story,Our Story" and then force you to give him a round of applause. He is an arrogant egotisical jerk. He would constantly preech about how he has the best driving course and how everyone elses is bad but what he dose not tell you is once you sign up it is a one shot pass or fail. Typically when you sign up with the dmv you get 2 chances to pass. Not here. Here if you fail you must pay another fee to re-take the test. Which tells you that they have more inclination to fail you so that they could make more money off of you retaking the test. It is ridiculous. The staff their is extremely rude. Beatrice takes the cake. She is the main receptionist and has a foul and disgusting attitude she would be very short with her answers which would lead to me asking follow up questions and her getting angry. She would often tap the desk or knock on the desk to get your attention eventhough she has my id which has my name on it. Very rude very disrespectful.
Positive experience: I took a package with the 5h class, one hour driving practice (since I have driven for 12 years with my foreign license all over the world and just wanted to know the U.S. road test specifics) and the road test appointment there. 5h class: Only after I paid them, I was told that the next sessions for the 5h class in Harlem are already fully booked and I'd have to go to the Bronx, which is no easy location to go by subway... Sure, Mike's 5h class was different teaching style but at least it wasn't boring. 1h drive lesson: The 1h practice was just driving around and practicing parking but I would have hoped the instructor would know more about the test itself. I think the instructors don't really know what nowadays is checked at the road test. Still the people there are very nice and trying but I think they should go on a ride with an examiner to see what is checked on the road test. Road test appointment: The driving school was able to get me an appointment within 5 weeks, which is quick and also reminded me via text of it. Unfortunately, I failed the road test on the first try, but so did everybody in the car and it seemed it's pretty common at that school that you don't pass at the first try, because if the formerly mentioned lack of knowledge of the road test itself. For my second try I'll just book a rental car, so I don't have to wait so long again (the road test examiner only takes 2 people from one school and I was third, so we had to go back in line).
Negative experience: This place is so unprofessional, I took the 5 hour class there. Mike the instructor wrote the wrong birthday on my 5 hour certificate so I had to go back for a new one. He was very irritated when I requested a new one. After making me wait 30 mins he signed a new one. Today A month later I go to take my road test and the dmv informs me that Mike didn't write the date that the certificate was issued. Now I'm sitting outside of their school hoping I can get a 3rd certificate.....and this time it better be right. PS during the 5 hour class he requires all of his students to call him Daddy.....creepy.
Positive experience: Good Price, everyone were wonderful and totally stir me into the right direction. Special Thanks to Marggie
Fantastic experience: Marggie is by far the best driving instructer ever. You learn everthing you need to know. I passed my test on the first try ! I definantly recommend this school the owner is supper cool and supportive, and Beatriz is also super sweet organized and helps you with whatever you want.
Negative experience: Hello, I would like to file/post a complaint against "Harlem Driving School" located in the Bronx. The physical location/address of the business is 499 East 168th Street, Bronx NY, 10456. I was attempting to schedule road lessons with Mike (No Last name was given). When I called "Beatrice" (No last name given) answered the phone with a nasty attitude and wasn't willing give me any information over the phone. Beatrice stated that I would need to come in to the office location if I needed any questions answered. As I tried to explain to her that I was at work and was only looking for general information. Beatrice took it upon herself to end our time on the phone by hanging up the phone on me. I called back immediately and asked how did we get disconnected? she replied by saying "I told you, you need to come in" and hung up the phone again. I am shocked that anyone is allowed to get away with this type of behavior. I think it would be fair to say that Beatrice needs to work on her customer relation skills. I am pretty sure I would be better off finding a company that would appreciate my business. I would have rated this company with "NO" stars if possible. Google has a one star minimum. Thank you, Kevin
