Carroll Lyn Driving School Llc: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Very Happy with this driving school
Negative experience: Your website is garbage. 90% ads, 5% info and 5% useless info. I just want to know the cost of your classes upfront. I'm using a different company. ADS are B.S.
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with Carroll Lynn driving school (legacy) we signed our daughter up and two weeks later they called and set up driving time and Carla was there on time and she was really good instructor
Negative experience: They are absolutely horrible at answering and returning calls. If you get them to answer, they will lie and tell you they’ll call you back but in the end never do. Me and my guardian will be going down sometime this week to demand a refund. This place is very unorganized and the service sucks. I did my classes in May, they told us i’d be doing my in cars at the end of July and we’re still waiting to even hear anything. We’ve tried calling everyday but they seem to never want to answer. So just, try to avoid taking your child/children here if you could. It’s a waste of money.
Negative experience: UPDATE: AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!! If you want your child to get their driver training and license in a timely manner, DO NOT use Legacy (aka Carroll Lyn) Driving School! What they tell you and what actually happens are two completely different things and it will end up taking more than half a year just to get anything completed! It's been almost 8 months and my daughter is still waiting to complete her last 2 hours of in-car. The only way a business like this keeps its doors open is if people continue to use their services... STOP...go to a driving school in a neighboring community. We're stuck, but you don't have to be! Original Message: Has not been a good experience. Very unorganized. Was bought out and transitioned to another company, Legacy, while my daughter was in the middle of taking the classroom portion, and we have been waiting for months to do her in-car. Misinformation, misplaced documents, and various other mishaps on their part have made it a very stressful and frustrating process. Glad we only have to do this once, but wish we would have tried other options even if it meant going out of town.
Negative experience: took over a year to complete my training because they wouldn’t call me back. had to get ny temps renewed.
Negative experience: Do not waste your money on this company. 6 months after our daughter has taken classes here, we are still waiting on her "in cars". She was scheduled once, but they canceled on her without rescheduling. This place is so unorganized.
Negative experience: Starters the building smells like a ashtray, not good when you are trying to teach kids how to drive. Then when we signed up for drivers ed they said it would be a couple of months to finish the driver portion. Ended up taking 7 months to finish drivers ed. Gave my son 1 time to take the test, before he had to retake the temp test. They didn't teach him anything!
Negative experience: I have the same story as others. Was told when they accepted our money that would take a month or two after indoor classes to do on the road. Now 5 months later, numerous calls(most of which reach a voicemail box that’s full), they are still taking new clients, that they know they won’t be able to get to for months and months. If my sons temps expire before they get to us I’m going to expect a partial refund at the very least.
Negative experience: After paying the fee and my son attending the classroom portion of driving school, we learn that he will not be participating in the driving portion for 5 months because that's how far they are behind. They told me that they tell everyone this before signing up. Well, I can promise that I was never told this and my son stated that they told him it would be a 2 month wait for driving during the classroom portion, not 5 months. So disappointed!!
Fantastic experience: Easy to find and good for teens drivers
Fantastic experience: Great class good teacher same day diploma
Negative experience: They don't deserve a star or to be open. Paul was my instructor and he was very rude to my parents saying we should of gone to circleville because it's closer ( it's not). He yelled at me because I didn't know how to do the parallel parking and made me cry on my first day. He was on his phone the whole time talking to his wife. I was told false information when a going on to a highway. He would make sounds and noises which made it frustrating to focus. They were very strick and rude during class time. They would turn the tv on an leave till the video was over and ask questions that wasn't really related to the video.
Fantastic experience: Even during the pandemic once able to they were prompt to resume training ! Our son was fully prepared to take his testing, the course was narrow , and difficult, still passed 1st time, a completely new testing course also ! THANKS Carroll Lyn!
Negative experience: Desperately wanted my husband to learn how to drive. Once he was scheduled, went the whole way to their office which is 45 minute drive. They spent 10 minutes in the car for them to tell me that he didn't know to drive well enough to be in the car with their driving instructors. I didn't understand that when making the appointments and paying up front nor did they explain they have a minimum number of hours they want someone to drive before being on the road with them. Thankfully they gave me my money back, but still what a waste of my time if driving instructors don't have the patience to teach someone how to start to drive, whether in a parking lot or on the road. I won't waste my time and money again with them.
Fantastic experience: The staff was quite friendly and informative.
Negative experience: 8 weeks and waiting for in car
Fantastic experience: They were very nice. They worked around your schedule. It was very fast and easy.
Negative experience: Constant delays in scheduling driving. In this case, several months after class. Do not waste your time with these clowns. Save your money.
Negative experience: My daughter took the class room part back in August. We were told 6 to 8 weeks on driving we have not been contacted at all, only communication is when we have call in to see how much longer. Now they are saying 12 weeks from the time of class. We have been paid in full since day one and when asked if we could switch companies they said sure but we do not give any refund! They are still teaching classes putting themselves farther and farther behind!
Fantastic experience: This is a small office business. I had no issues with leaving a message and them returning my call. Richard returned the call in a hour. I had 2 teenagers going through the 2 week classroom and they found it informative. They do get "backed up" especially when all of the teenagers are trying to get their license right before school, it's a supply and demand issue. Steve, the driving instructor, was very patient and helpful, just the type of instructor a new driver needs. They come to the house for the driving instruction, which was really nice benefit.
Negative experience: Terrible staff communication. I was told in car training would be 6 to 8 weeks after in class training now they tell me they are not sure when in car will be. Said they are trying to get 3 trainers verified (which they told me that as I signed the papers) so why it takes so long and for them to not be honest I have no clue. They had no problem accepting payment in full for the course. And the woman I spoke to couldn't have been less helpful. Seemed as though she had no idea about any questions I had. So I guess we just wait like we have been. So very unsatisfied with this company.
Negative experience: I enrolled my daughter there 3 months ago and she still has to wait another month before she gets in the car. They are quick to accept your money but you have to wait months for your child to drive. I was told today that it was my fault for not reading the contract because they have six months to put the children in the car. If I had known that I'd never have signed her up. She told me that they are running low on trainers. That is information that they should tell you before you sign. They are never fully staffed. I wish I could give them a "0" star for their "efforts" in running a business and their ability to train new drivers. I'm gonna tell everyone I know to go anywhere else!
Negative experience: The wait list to drive is terrible. Staff will mislead you on how backed up they are. We were told 3 to 4 weeks from class time to start drive with them. My son finished his classes almost 3 weeks ago. ( and they are fully paid) I called to check and was told 7 more weeks! Since sessions are cut into 3 times at least, kids who went this summer will be waiting well into the school year to drive! Management is not staying on top of hiring nor training. Research to see if you can find another school.
