TJ and Friends Smith System CDL Training School

Negative experience: Paid my hard earned money up front for the cdl school to be closed . Was told to rent a truck and trailer to take my road test. 3,000 was paid to get proper training and supplied a vehicle to do my road exam. That didn't happen. Now I get the run around about getting my refund as well as other students in the same situation. When respectfully inquiring about my refund I was disrespected by tj. I pray no one else goes through this.

Fantastic experience: Best cdl school in Virginia!!! Very accommodating & understanding . You go there not knowing anything about trucking and leave with a cdl. I highly recommend they also help with grants so you don’t have to pay out of pocket. You also get a certificate when you finish. He also helps look for jobs with you when you graduate.

I had several trainers at my school who could not explain this process well for manuvers, but you excel them all! Fantastic experience: Great experience. TJ is the best CDL training instructor in USA with 13 years CDL experience. TJ has driven tractor trailers in 48 states in USA. TJ was a owner operator for 5 years before he became a CDL training instructor. David Cranefield , for safety reason, I told my students to use both lanes when coming out of the Food Lion exit. The road is narrow and it has prevented accidents. Sometimes you have to do what it takes to prevent accidents. The trucking industry is all about safety. Allowing cars to be on our side is unsafe and it will cause an accident bc the exit cannot take a truck and a car at the same time due to OFF TRACKING of the trailer. Taking both lanes when exiting , is the safest thing to do.

Fantastic experience: Tj is awesome as a newly graduated student I believe that you can pretty much learn everything in smith system so when you are on the road you don’t face any obstacles strongly recommend!

Negative experience: I feel sorry for those who will have to share the road with the student who was coming out of the Dollar Tree shopping center onto Speeks Drive across from the school at 1:30 the afternoon of 22 December 2023, since they went the wrong way out of the one-way entrance to the parking lot and held up traffic for several minutes. Maybe this is why drivers no longer command any respect, if they are being taught like this.

Negative experience: Worst school to be going to I wouldn’t recommend it

Negative experience: This guy has no respect for anyone. He will over talk you with Jibber Jab, while all you want are facts and honesty. He doesn't have instructors to help with the cdl B students, due to him personally not paying his employees which on the first day i saw but its none of my business one of his employee upset and highly mad about him not paying him his money, and if he didn't pay him he was coming to his house where he lives. Yet TJ is out of control with his mouth talking to people disrespectful. Ive been here a few weeks and most of the students there been there over two months!!! Due to Tj running the school his way and not professionally. People have been there for pver Two months have seen somethings, ive been there only 3 weeks and seen enough and heard enough, to just want to get my license and dont look back, yet his prolonging my testing. While last Thursday he took three people two failed and he took them back this Monday only four days ago they failed. And they still failed. Yet i have to wait over two weeks? To drive a truck with a fake inspection sticker?? We could have handle this so professionally yet you have to realize, in order to get respect you have to give it. My school is all paid for you treated me as if i was on a payment plan. Honestly the school needs to be shut down while he figures out or get out of this situation his in.

Fantastic experience: My daughter went to TJ AND FRIENDS school and earned her Class A CDL license. I am so impressed with this school! They are a fantastic who treat their students like family! Not only is the training excellent, but they help you find employment when you graduate! My daughter had a job offer the very day she earned her license! Fantastic experience: Very good school that will give you the important fundamentals on the trucking industry. this is the perfect place for you. They will teach you everything . The equipment is sufficient for the learning process. I had never driven a truck or a manual gear shift before attending this school. I passed my cdl test on the first attempt so that says a lot. I would recommend this school to anyone who is serious about getting your Cdl. TJ IS THE BEST
