Fantastic experience: Had a great time with the instructor, he had a very outgoing and helpful perspective on driving . I did behind the wheel classes, which consist of 1 hour driving and 1 hour watching another student drive. The lessons helped get rid of my anxiety behind the wheel, and showed me lots to prepare for the driving test! I had never parked before coming or changed lanes in a car and now can do both. Overall - great owner, secretary, and instructor!

Fantastic experience: Easy to schedule, accommodating to unexpected situations that require an absence, professional and friendly staff, and my kid passed her test on the 1st try.

Negative experience: I really wish my son had read the reviews before coming here to waste my money at Scam Artist Carlton Driving School in Lufkin Texas. The woman in charge didn't tell him he had to take the class within 48 hours after he paid. Plus when he called again at Carlton Driving's School , Scam Artist telling him they were not doing classes, they Carlton Driving School Scam Artist giving him the runaround. Carlton Driving School Scam Artist in Lufkin Texas will take your money, then want you to pay them another $100 because they are the one's who kept rescheduling. The reason why Carlton Driving School Scam Artist are getting away with this is because it's a small town and there is no competition in Lufkin Texas. Don't waste your money or your time on these Scam Artist!

Positive experience: My friend operates a defensive driving course at this location. He does a good job of interacting and teaching the students. I would recommend his class to anyone.

Negative experience: The person in charge of the test is extremely rude! She berated my son. I can’t believe we paid money for that, but I hope they use it to buy her some professionalism. I hate that I had to give this business one star. Upon her entering the car, she very harshly told him to put his hands on the wheel as he’s “there to take a driving test not get comfortable” in an extremely rude tone. After that, she asked about the amount in the gas tank and told him he would know exactly what words to use about the the amount if he hadn’t taken online classes all because he didn’t say there was “a quarter of a tank” (specifically only in those words). He made some mistakes and she doesn’t have to pass him - I get it, but to tell someone he’s a “wreck waiting to happen” is uncalled for. I’m a teacher and would NEVER talk to a student in that manner! She is a wreck everyday and apparently finds pleasure in wrecking people’s spirit. Why be so rude? When he made a comment about a truck that pulled out in front of him, she nastily replied, “There’s no talking in here!” I could go on, but there’s only so much space. The point is, this woman was ugly, unprofessional, and enjoys hatefully rebuking people. I suppose it gives her some sort of authoritative Hitler-like rush. I wish I knew her name for this review, but unfortunately, I wasn’t at the appointment due to my work schedule. Had I been present, we would have left from the get go as it started before he ever got in the car. She had already been ugly to both my son and husband prior to the test. I will be talking to the owner as soon as she returns to the office. We paid $70 for someone with a miserable life to completely demean an already nervous test taker. Now, I know why there are no refund labels plastered on their website. I can totally see why the girl in one of the previous reviews didn’t want to get behind the wheel after her experience. Just do yourself a favor and find another school/testing office unless you enjoy paying money for abuse.

Positive experience: Good lesson

Fantastic experience: These are some of the most down to earth educators. I have 4 kiddos that have driven with them and they give very good feedback. These kiddos are all prepared for driving when done. Thank you to all the staff for everything you do!

Negative experience: Hope their professionalism has gotten better. My daughter would not get behind the wheel for 3 years after attending Carlton driving school. She did not tell me about the instructor & the comments she made until after the class was completely finished. Which, I suppose was good. Because the school would probably be closed by the time I finished with them. First, you are the driving instructor and you should have patience or find another job.

Fantastic experience: THANK YOU for helping us reschedule last min. The weather storm messed up my daughter's afterchool program. Any negative reviews on here must be people who are mad because they weren't prepared and don't think rules apply to them. This driving school is great and the two ladies in office gave me very specific instructions on which paperwork copies of bills and school enrollment forms needed. Ms. Carlton went above and beyond to help our daughter who's never driven a car before and was very nervous. We did all parts of the teen drivers ed, classroom, behind the wheel and the DPS road test, easy peasy. We never had to deal with DPS office except to submit paperwork for DL license card.

Fantastic experience: my daughter, niece and nephews all did their classroom and in car lessons with Carlton and loved it. It was my daughter's first time behind the wheel. The online class is on Zoom which is good to me. I feel better knowing my daughter was able to ask questions from the instructor instead of watching videos online.

Negative experience: I went in on 02/05 to enroll and pay in full for my daughter to start the class that was set to start in the next couple weeks. First I was told unless I paid in cash there would be a $6 charge for using card so I was already bothered by that and then I was told the class options and advised if there wasn't any school the class would be online. So I never heard from school so I along with my daughter started following up on when classes would start. I was given the run around which I understood due to weather but the lack of communication and professionalism was so terrible. Their site says they offer online classes but when I wanted just that for my daughter today finally 02/23 I was finally told various reasons as to why my daughter would have to wait so I asked for a refund. The amount showing refunded is without $6 charge and that to me isn't fair because at no fault of mine is the reason my daughter won't be attending. I definitely won't recommend this school to anyone.

Negative experience: They are not direct in their emails and charged for something that was their fault.
