Negative experience: At the moments this school is not where it is advertised or communicated to be at. Getting a CDL in 160 hours is nice until you figure out the time frame . One week EDLT, the next is all week for you to take your permit test, 3 weeks of yard training, last week to take your cdl if you pass first time. Not having the communication there was only one instructor really put a restriction on how much I was able to learn and grow as a students. One instructor to cover everything, students first day, students doing two different parts of pre trip, students driving manuel and automatic tractors, one instructor to over see students driving on the road in Manuel and automatic tractors. Simply, ask a lot of questions and make sure there are two instructors available to you when you start this course. As well the one instructor sitting in the middle of the yard completely hands off just watching and honking his truck horn when you mess up does not help teach or grow a students skills. It was such a pleasure to have a car horn honked at you not knowing if you or the other person across the yard messed up , then seeing the instructor drive over to tell you the obvious was definitely the best way for me to learn and practice my backing skills . With only one instructor classes are every other day instead of every day (mon - fri 8-4). Hopefully they get it figured out soon :(.

Negative experience: Absolutely do not go here!!!!! Stay far away from this place

Logan Sinclair 1 year ago

Negative experience: Garbage, awful, putrid, DRECK. DO NOT waste your money on this sorry excuse for a school. The good reviews driving up the overall score are are paid actors, 100%. 10 students to a truck, NO road driving time, but they will lie and mark down your hours as if you got all your drive time (illegal.) Will kick you onto an automatic truck if you struggle with the manual, don't give a F about you and only care about freeing up your seat for the next $5000 check ASAP whether you pass your test or not. Go to Aisling Truck Academy instead, or UCC's CDL program. This place is full of criminals.

Negative experience: Matt is awesome and helpful, tim is not a good teacher and worthless if your looking for instruction from him, he will sit across yard and yell and point or honk his horn at you also likes to threaten you and talk down.

Fantastic experience: Came into the program with a little knowledge of the industry but no skills. 160 gives it all to you. Heck, I became a better driver of passenger vehicles after this and passed the CDL tests first try. Highly recommend if you are looking for a new career and want the best.

Positive experience: I went to the school to get my cdl back. The only issue I had was the Wi-Fi. It went out and I had to do the permit class on my own. But the drive part of the course was great. The instructors were there when someone needed them and took time to discuss issues and explain the issues the other students were experiencing. Good people. They need to invest in a bbq pit. Lol

Fantastic experience: The instructors and the learning environment is A+. I went from never being inside a Rig to acing my final test in a manual truck. The instructors are knowledgeable and you get plenty of driving time. Definitely a good place to start a driving career.

Fantastic experience: I came in with no knowledge of trucks or driving. The instructors were incredibly helpful and the way the classes are set up is great. I can say happily I enjoyed every day I attended I was always learning something new even when I was messing up. The instructors were very attentive. Thank you AL,Tim, and Matt for helping me get my cdl. You've prepared me to drive for one of the biggest companies on the west coast. I love 160 driving academy

Fantastic experience: Outstanding instructors that take pride in their job. Will go out of their way to help you during class and after graduation. Give Al and Jeff a raise! Matt in the office was also very helpful and friendly. Online class at 160 is a waste of time though. Get your permit before joining so you can sleep through it.

Fantastic experience: Just finished my course with these guys and I tell you what.. it was an amazing experience. Matt in the classroom was so helpful answer any questions I had, always keeping me positve and always kept me on track to accomplish my goal and AL, David, Tim and Jeff in the yard taught me so much. It was so amazing how passionate they are about teaching other and giving them the right tools to exceed. These guys will take the time and come in early, stay late or even come in on there days off and answer any questions or even show you how's its done just to make sure you feel comfortable in these big trucks to pass the DMV test. Their so patient and can't say it enough helpful..thank you all for giving me the opportunity to better my faimlies life, I don't know how I'll ever repay you.

Negative experience: Don't try to call them if you already have your CDL and have a simple question. I wish it was still IITR. They were so much better then. Now, when you call, you get a corporate secretary who is absolutely no help at all. She wants your full life history before she gives you an opportunity to tell her why you're calling. She tried to schedule me an appointment, and all I wanted was to inquire as to where I could get my fingerprints done to get my hazmat endorsement. Being a corporate secretary, she isn't even located in Oregon. Absolutely a waist of my time.

Negative experience: I didn’t pay almost 10k to have to learn on a computer, I don’t learn that way during the lockdown and I sure ain’t learning anything now

Matthew Gassman 3 years ago

Negative experience: I ended up paying some of my DMV fees out of pocket that were supposed to be included with my tuition. I was told I’d receive a refund for my out of pocket expenses. I was told it could take up to a month, but likely only a few days. It’s been over 2 months now & even with a copy of the submitted refund request with reference number, the company has discontinued communication. I ended up filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Still haven’t seen that refund.

Fantastic experience: Only thing for make drivers test easy they have only short trailers but we have to drive 53ft in the street

Pearl Colletti 3 years ago

Fantastic experience: I'm not a student, but I love nearby, and I'm very impressed and grateful for how well they train their drivers, especially as it pertains to safe passing of cyclists on the road. I ride my bike in Creswell often, and they're always among the safest passers, always waiting for not only the road to be clear of oncoming traffic, but there isn't a solid line on our side of the road. I can't tell if they carry that practice on to their professional lives after school, but it is wonderful that they have such good foundation.

Positive experience: Luis is a really good instructor. I passed my test the first try and now I'm moving on to obtaining my hazmat endorsement. Would recommend this school.

Negative experience: So far this is a great school and dig the trainers, only problem is there's not enough tractors to train on. Currently there's 10 people and 3 working trucks. Also they need automatic trucks

Fantastic experience: Thank you Lori , Mac and staff fantastic experience and training. In the end it’s up to you with what you have been taught hence all the negative remarks are from those who have more than likely failed the test and need to blame it on someone else. Had fun !!! Fantastic experience: I attended this school in February 2020. It started with great communicstion/information from Don Edwards (CAMPUS MANAGER & ADMISSIONS RECRUITER). He guided me through the admissions and was very helpful through the process. An important part of this course is centered around Rosie Edwards(JOB PLACEMENT COORDINATOR). She gets involved with you one on one at some point during training and gets information from each student that will enable het to help with employment opportunities. Both are very personable and get to know you on a personal level. Last but not least are the instructors. Lori and Justin were both very good at what they do. Each has a different approach to teaching but the patience that that both exhibit is top notch. I personally could not do what they do. Lori makes the classroom time tolerable and is able to make the information understandable. There was a good ballance between the classroom, yard and road time. The only negative to me was the number of students in the class. We had nine and 6 would have been more desirable.

Fantastic experience: Enrolling in School at 56 years old is to say the least a bit spooky. I researched a lot of options (a lot ) Once I started probing into training in the industry, it put me on some sort of network and I was receiving offers to train me at no cost and most offered free housing and pay during this training. Yes tempted I was , but being as inquisitive as I am, I started researching those options also, I actually all but signed up with one of them. My best suggestion is spend a week researching all your options, But beware of the one thing Mom has always said "you get what you pay for" . So in my additional research I followed down the private training path before completely signing the dotted line, as I did more and more research I kept arriving with the same answers, a Private school always trumped the big guys free training offers in the potential employers eyes. So now I had clearly decided on Trucking School option , but now to narrow those down, well that was pretty easy, again the same answer came to me from these potential employers, oh you are considering IITR thats great news. For me that made the decision. It was a hard/challenging course, but in all fairness the gang @ IITR made that clear from the gate, Lori our lead instructor, hard as nails but no finer teacher/operator can be found on our roads, Justin our top notch down to earth instructor super knowledgeable, Don our head Master, well Don, wow, bend over backwards guy, cearly the salesman, but dam good at it with your success on a daily basis being his motivator, Rosie our awesome Registrar and office manager rocks, she is there when you need anything. To sum it up in around a months time I learned everything needed and also gained a quasi family. I am a proud graduate of IITR, Creswell campus and dam proud of it. Negative experience: Barely prepares students for drive tests Joke of a school shares drive time with too many students

James Krom 9 years ago

Negative experience: Do not go to this school. It is the worst. Equipment is aweful, and Phil the head instructor has got to be the most pompous arrogant and sheauvanistic person I've seen there. Very unorganized and so over priced for the quality of education. Do not go. Find somewhere else.
