Positive experience: Not a scam and I got a certificate. That being said make sure you have a working cellphone that can receive texts. Best to do on Desktop PC. You do have to be ready to respond to 3 questions in 30 seconds. They ask for a digit on your phone number, a simple traffic content question, and then they send you a text with a code. Honestly if people can't handle this, maybe rethink driving. I don't know about glitches, it worked well for me and got the certificate. You must play strictly by their rules though. Log off if you want to continue. Must complete in 30 days per DMV rules. The only issue is there may be a few paragraphs of content and you may finish in one minute but have to wait 5 to move to the next. They should have more videos. The videos are probably over 2 decades old. The course is probably the absolute minimum to fulfill the requirement. There is a final exam. Take notes if you feel you can't pass, it is not rocket science. What's the sense of taking the class if you know nothing afterwards?
Negative experience: Also wishing I read reviews, More than a month has passed I have not received my physical certificate and Geico has not processed or received the digital one they claimed to have sent out. I'm starting to think this was a scam and I should just call my Credit card company. My friends are suggesting I should have done Improv so I'd recommend that option for anyone who hasn't been conned by NYSP yet.

Negative experience: I wish I read the reviews before booking this course! I received a notice of course failure caused by a technical issue on their website which prevented me from verifying my identity. I called customer service and they were unbelievably rude and denied any responsibilities on their end. Won't take again.

Negative experience: hey all listen this place is a scam and so is the online class they will give you a certificate , but wont contact dmv to let them know you pass i had to get dmv to call them to get them to send my certificate to them and this took over 4 months so listen to me go to another site but this company is a scam and one more thing the reason they did nt send my cerificate to dmv is because they have to pay up a small fee to them that why they wont inform dmv you pass anyways see yall

Negative experience: I believed that there was no time limit on completing the course. Apparently, you have 6 months to complete before the course expires. An email alert would have been appreciated and appropriate, or, have customers pay for the course AFTER it is completed. Disappointed.
Positive experience: "Our records indicate that you failed your ID Validation because you did not successfully verify your identity within the allotted time on two consecutive attempts. Therefore, you failed the course. As a one time courtesy, we have reinstated your account in order for you to be able to continue your course from the point you left off. You may now login to continue your course."
Negative experience: Took a defensive driving course over a month ago (02/15/2022) so that I could have my drivers license in good standing, today is 03/16/2022 and guess what, NYSDMV has no record of me taking this course from this company(they failed to report it to the DMV and kept my money. Every time I call to get some results, they claim it was submitted but call back to make sure it was. I’ve been at this for a week almost. Please people, take your money elsewhere. It is probably the safest thing to do.

Negative experience: Save Your Money, Use ANY Other online course to reduce Your insurance..... “40 Seconds to Verify” Randomly requires you to Phone In, But only provides 40 seconds to Phone In to Verify ID. Extremely difficult to comply with. Waste of My Time and Money
Positive experience: Class was good EXCEPT it CLEARLY states NO QUIZ. There IS a quiz / test afterwards. 20 questions. You get 2 tries, if you fail, you HAVE pay for again to take all over again. Im not sure, but I THINK its timed. My first test just stopped about 3/4 the way through and said FAIL. Luckily I passed it the 2nd time. If you fail, and have to retake the test, its a different test. You only find out there is a test AFTER its all paid for.
Fantastic experience: Great fast helpful and effective .
Negative experience: It's very boring. You have to wait long after you've read a page to click to the next. If you do something else, you'll have to start the clock over. At random times, you have to call a number to verify your identity, but sometimes your touch-tone selections don't register and you fail the course and have to start all over again! A nightmare. I wasted days and was nearing the end of this hell when I had to start all over from the beginning of the course. Save yourself! Don't do it.
Negative experience: Took my course on monday at 600am eastetn standard time. Website says you will receive your certificate on 3 to 5 business days. Todays is fifth business day and no certificate. I called customer service and they were very rude. Told me to wait ten business days. What a joke. They also do not file with heico. As is stated on their website

Fantastic experience: Needed to get this for reduce rates, Took my time doing the reading and watching the video, about a week, then yesterday took the exam and went well, got notification about my passing score as well the option to electronically file to dmv and send me a copy via first class mail .
Negative experience: SCAM, do not use these guys - called up and they keep you waiting then hang up. Then the chat room does the same and requests you pay another $49 and have another log in, had done 8/9 modules too - utter scam and waste of time & money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I was nearly finished with the course when I got locked out for failing to call in for a verification and received a message that I had failed the course. Worse yet, the message said I had to retake the course from the beginning! Needless to say , I was more than a little frustrated since the problem was caused by a dying battery on my phone. When I called to complain - expecting to get a textbook reply that "We are sorry but those are the rules" I was pleasantly surprised to find a very professional and understanding rep who allowed me to continue the course where I had left off., Now that I have completed the process and gotten a reduction in my insurance rates I want to thank them for going an extra mile!!
Negative experience: I took the class on Saturday. Website said they would electronically send certificate to Geico and mail me a copy. Today is Thursday and no one has the certificate not Geico and not me. When I called customer service they asked for my drivers license number and then was told I had to call back after 11am and talk to a different customer service. I called geico and told them they should not refer this company anymore hopefuly they listen.
Positive experience: You should update your website. There isn’t 24/7 Support, they’re closed at 5pm and don’t work weekends. After having to restart the course once, I finally completed it. Now I’m just waiting for my certificate through the mail.
Negative experience: There are plenty of online defensive driving courses to choose from, do yourself a big favor and skip New York Safety Program, Inc. Their website is extremely glitchy, and the same errors came up on Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Customer service is extremely rude and unprofessional. Their course is $3 cheaper compared to other Geico affiliates at the time of this review, but they are inferior compared to the others.
Negative experience: My Wifi kicked me out and the class then asked me to call and verify myself within a 45 second time frame. When you call the number to verfiy, they have you go through many options and selections- there is not enough time to verify and the class sent me a failure notice because of this. When I called to get help the representative from the company was extremely rude and said there is nothing they can do. SCAM- DO NOT USE.
Negative experience: This course was not worth 6 hours of my time. You are given a page to read, which takes two minutes even if you're really slow, but you have to stay on the page for 8 minutes to fulfill the time requirement for the course. If I have to sit there give me more content. One page talked about a law that was going to be enacted in 2011. News flash, it's 2020. This was not worth the discount!
Negative experience: DO NOT sign up for the course. It was recommended to me and my fiancé through Geico and it was a horrible experience. There are about 5 modules and a final exam. They say you can begin the course and then restart it at any time but when I did that I had issues. The first day I took 3 modules of the course and that was about 3 hours long. While taking it, every 10 min or so it asks you a security question and you have to call a number and correctly answer the question in a certain amount of time if you answer it correctly it counts against you. If you answer the question wrong twice or you don’t answer quick enough you fail the program. I tried logging in and it asked me the security question but when I called the phone number there was no automated message so I couldn’t correctly put in a response/ the response never registered. Therefore it never registered and it told me that I failed the course even though it only gave me one chance to answer the question. When I called customer service the lady was very rude and unprofessional and told me I failed the course and there is nothing she can do so I had to re start it. I tried explaining that there was a glitch on their end and she told me that my cell phone must be broken and doesn’t work properly so it was my fault. She was unbelievable.
Negative experience: I was 4 hours into the online course. The site promoted me to call in. As soon as prompted I called. The recording said I was not suppose to call. It then logged me out. I tried logging back in and the site said I failed the course. I immediately called & spoke with Tina the supervisor who told me they attempted to verify my identity ( not true) two times and I failed to verify my identity so I would have to start from the beginning of the course. There was obviously a glitch on their website because I was not asked two times to verify my identity. Nevertheless there should be another option to verify identity especially in the short amount of time between the log out and when I called. They just wasted 4 hours of my time. Ridiculous
Fantastic experience: Very happy with the online process Finished it online with my own pace and whenever I could find the time. Thanks a lot. Have taken this before in class from different places, but I would definitely recommend it online. One thing I would suggest when taking it online is always have phone handy and good service. Almost had to start over because I didn't have number out, ready to call.
Positive experience: no points off of license, waste of money Edit - the points came off my license, woo hoo! Sorry about critical review but it took close to a year for this to take affect. the course was really informative and helpful, but customer service is pretty bad, hence three stars.
Negative experience: DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. THEY DO NOT EVEN UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY TO THE GEICO AS PROMISED ON THE WEBSITE. ALSO HAVE THE FINAL EXAM (OTHERS DO NOT).
Negative experience: Do NOT take this course. I thew away hours on this. I was several hours in to the course and a security question popped up. I accidentally answered wrong. IMMEDIATELY after NO other security questions. An error message came up and said I have to start from the beginning. LITERALLY from the beginning. I called up and spoke with someone named Tina who was absolutely obnoxious and closed minded. She insisted "the system is flawless" and there had to be 2 other questions before I got the error message. I can GUARANTEE you with 100% certainty there were not. I am a software engineer and understand how systems work. This was a system error. Tina INSISTED she was the only supervisor and there was no other person to talk with and according to NY state law she can't get me back to the point I was in the course. Also, before this ever happened I could tell you Every page has a minimum time average literally 5 minutes - even though they take a minute to read. So you literally have to wait for minutes extra on every page which is why it adds up to hours.
Negative experience: If I could give less than one star I would. The program is nice and straightforward but the security system is horrible and the customer service is even worse. Do not use this service ever!
Negative experience: Horrible staff, I worked for them for less than two months and they let me go without even a warning. Very rude, and discriminatory. Too many employees working there in and out. And very gossipy. Okay if you want to just take the course but not to work for them. I recommend people don't try to apply to work here.
Negative experience: Don't take this course, First they tell you there is no test yet you have to answer 15 out of 20 questions right to pass then they don't tell you but you have to keep your phone in your hand because a window will pop up telling you to call a number with in 22 seconds to verify who you are after you already gave them your drivers ID and home address and your phone number. Then they list a contact number and when you call they take a survey ask you stupid question and then hang up on you. Take the course at a local area school
Negative experience: The course material was informative and helpful but the way the course was administered was ridiculous. They interrupt you frequently and force you to dial a number from your registered phone within 30 seconds and answer a question. If you can't respond within 30 seconds (after two attempts) the fail you and force you to take the course over again!!! I was on a cell phone with bad service when this happened and I was 75% of the way through the course and had to take it over again!! I would never use this service again
