Thank you so much for the great review, Frank. You were an awesome student to work with and we wish you all the success in your new career.
Fantastic experience: Class of Dec. 93. Attended ATDS when it was in Prairie View, Tx. We had old runways to practice on. Was great location and top shelf instructors. Finished with a 98. All these years later still driving. Only one non preventable accident. Fantastic school. Although, I must say the job is not as fun as it use to be. And I believe the bar to get into this industry needs to be much much higher. But ATDS is a great place to start.
Awesome, we are happy you chose ATDS and appreciate the support after all these years.
Negative experience: Bait and Switch, High interest loans for an industry that’s paying less and less. Are you insurable for the first 2 years?
Hello Fred, I'm so sorry that you had a bad experience. The finance industry is always changing. We have multiple options and the rate depends on your credit score and debt to income ratio. We try to find an option for everyone.
Fantastic experience: This place is great. The instructors are awesome and the learning experience is amazing. If you fail to get your CDL from here it is your own fault. They teach you and give you everything you need to pass and pass the first time. I will be back to visit one day and show off my new truck. Thanks to all the instructors for all you done for me. For helping me open a door to a whole new world..
Thank you for choosing ATDS. It was a pleasure to train you and we wish you the best of luck!

Awesome!! Keep on truckin'!
Fantastic experience: That's how it all began truck driving in 2000 and been loving it ever since
That's great, Kenneth! Way to go!
Negative experience: I was at the Flyin J in Waco, TX earlier today when one of the training trucks came into the lot. Truck number was 326. Since these are student drivers, I hold the instructor accountable. The truck was parked in the middle of the driveway...even though there were quite a few open spots. Teaching new drivers that it’s ok to pop your brakes anywhere is doing them a great disservice. Teach them truck stop etiquette. Teach them how to properly park the truck. Don’t teach them to be inconsiderate, rude, park wherever you want jerks. Downright shameful.
I'm so sorry this happened. Your feedback is valuable to us and we will take this into consideration during our next staff meeting.
Positive experience: Bobby (left) ,Justin, and Mike were the best instructors. I learned how to pre-trip so well that the dps tester told me to "ok, just shut up and get in the truck, I can tell you know this". I still use some of the notes I took to this day when I'm unsure about something. As far as not having a backing pad... the truck lot is bigger than most Love's and if you need fresh black asphalt with white lines to back properly, you are in for a rude awakening when you get out into the real world. I passed on my first try.
That's awesome! So glad you had a great experience and learned a lot while you were here. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
Fantastic experience: I graduated from ATDS in 1988 at the Coldwater MI school and have been driving ever since...my instructor had 40 yrs under his belt then....great teacher he was
Fantastic experience: Great school as far as I can tell
Negative experience: I was looking the option "Cero Stars" but unfortunately is not available here. Guys, this the most terrible, awful, nasty and disgusting place to study for your CDL A. Here some facts: 1) TIME: No matter you arrive on time, you have always to wait for the "instructors" up to one hour while they are smoking, chewing tobacco or just chatting on them phones. Same case when you have to come to the "driving practice" on the street. They order you pull the truck to pad before of time. NO RESPECTFUL FOR YOUR TIME/MONEY. 2) CROWED PLACE: Too much students and few trucks to learn. They are accepting and accepting new students all the weeks without thinking in the space of the pad/yard or the vehicles available. YOU ARE DRIVING SCARCELY 1/2 HOUR A DAY. NO MORE. 3) TRUCKS WITH POOR MANTENIANCE: You have to go in your classes to the tire shop or to the truck wash and expend hours and hours of your valuable time waiting for reparations. NO RESPECT FOR YOUR TIME/MONEY AGAIN. 3) LITERRALLY: NOBODY TEACHING YOU. (Some restrictions apply) Instructors are not interested in explain you basic technics of driving like "double clutch, rpm's, straight back... you have to research by your self on you tube, pay additional classes in other schools and look for support of drivers to learn. (MRS. SABRINA IS THE ONLY ONE INTERESTED IN TEACH YOU) YOU ARE GOING TO THE DPS AND FAILED. 4) DESORGANIZED. They are not following a teaching pattern, a line of succession. They improvise every day. FINALLY: DONT INVEST YOUR MONEY IN THIS PATHETIC "SCHOOL".
Negative experience: Illegal as heck, the students are not taught to do daily driving logs while at the school, and do not do driving logs. Those are legal documents that are not done. They do not own a backing pad, so the students fail backing at the DPS test (unless they have a friend or family member help them on the side). Very unsafe, the trucks do not have seatbelts. The instructors are not taught how to train, they use "trucker" lingo and do not know how to put their thoughts into layman's terms. The map and trip planning class was 3-5 minutes long (literally). As many as 50 students standing around in a day, waiting to get into a truck (I counted them, and knew them all by name). And, the trucks are extremely old and unkempt. You're yelled at, talked down-to in a condescending voice at all times, never respectfully (by *most* of the trainers. Rob Hunt and Susan Denton spoke respectfully, they're in the office though, not training you). I saw three men at separate times turn away and tear up, they were treated so harshly (bullied basically) and embarrassed and cut down by Larry Scott. Bobby is the very best trainer, at ALL times he is top notch, last I knew, he was leaving though (Larry was hateful to not only the students, but the other three trainers.) The one good thing I can say about this school, the female trainer that thought it was funny to literally hit a student while they were driving, with a belt if they made an error, immediately got fired. I know many people sitting at home after 6-8 weeks at this school and do not have their CDL yet, they keep failing backing at the DMV in Waco. Do yourself a huge favor and check out Roadmaster in Dallas. They have a cement backing pad, they have million mile truckers who've been trained to train, they are professional, patient and kind. They have you keep driving logs and have an 8 hour class on map reading, trip planning and log keeping that is an excellent class. All the trucks have seat belts and they make sure you get your CDL.
