Total Control Training: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Instructors Alfredo and Peter were very patient, informational and funny. Making the class a great environment to learn. The bikes were nicely maintained and the information/instruction was easy to follow. I was amazed by how many people had zero experience on a motorcycles and were riders by the last day. I would highly recommend this school for anybody wanting to learn how to ride.
Fantastic experience: I recommend them 100% They are great at teaching. I had a very good time learning basic skills. Bikes are nice and confortable. It was fun and the whole group had a great time. Tuck, Taylor and Mr Valencia were great in every way! Looking forward to the Intermediate class soon..
Fantastic experience: I want to give the highest of praise and thanks to Pete! He taught my course and retested me when it was convenient to my schedule! He was calm, patient, and motivational throughout the riding training portion and his humor helped ease the tension. Take this course and request Pete’s group if you can! You won’t regret it. Thank you so much Pete! Shall was great, knowledgeable, and welcoming as well.
Fantastic experience: Garret and Jeff are the best instructors for motorcycle classes I would recommend them for the course
Fantastic experience: Pleasant experience here today. Very nice people here. I was in & out in just a few minutes with all the information I needed
Fantastic experience: I took the Instructor Training course as well in Wrightwood. Although it was difficult and challenging (because nothing that is good in life is easy) there was never discriminatory phrases or rudeness of any sort. I believe that Dave W and Dave S were very professional, and human. It was hot, and they take their teaching and instruction and curriculum very serious. Mornings when us students wanted to get there earlier to practice or stay late, they were there. If we needed to call them for whatever reason, they would answer. They (Dave’s) are both very supportive and passionate about sending good trainers out to keep everyone safe on their motorcycle. I’m giving a rating of 5 stars because the curriculum is amazing and very instructional. No one was rude, they were serious, and should be so, as this is a life saving course.
Fantastic experience: Dave W and Dave S are both great instructors teaching motorcycle instructors. I know firsthand what an enormous amount of time and effort they put in to make sure all the instructor candidates knew the importance of following the Lee Parks curriculum. Much like a new rider may find out motorcycling is not for them, the instructor candidate training is where you discover if you have what it takes and whether you are fully dedicated to helping potential motorcyclist learn safety first. Not everyone makes it as an instructor. It is not easy but in the end it is worth it if someone remembers something they learned as a student or an instructor and a life is saved. Thank you Total Control and “The Dave’s” who went over and above to push our team to be the best!
Fantastic experience: After reading the most recent negative review (James Lewis) of Total Control Training, I felt that review was a bit over the top. I attended and graduated that particular class and yes, at times things got confusing and yes, there were some personality conflicts that arose which I witnessed and was also on the receiving end of. That's life. It happens in every profession at every level. At times I questioned some aspects and methods, but after a bit of reflection, I also remembered this is an instructional atmosphere teaching a life and death skill to beginner motorcyclists the way its founder intended. All instructor candidates are made fully aware of this before attending. In fact, bold type on page one of our introduction page simply states, "IMPORTANT, this can be an intense class for those who are unprepared." Let me assure you, it is intense and you must be VERY prepared. This particular class was held on a site close to 7000 feet in elevation, in 80-90 degree heat outdoors the entire time 12 hours a day for seven straight days. Absolutely tempers will flare but in the spirit of this training I am confident nothing was said or implied as to be malicious toward any one person in any way. The instructors had a job to do which was to make Total Control Motorcycle Instructors and at the end of a long blistering week that's exactly what they did. This course is not for the faint of heart and it is very demanding but more importantly, it is unbelievably rewarding. Thanks for the experience and kudos to "The Daves."
Fantastic experience: I had the beat instructor. Russ was absolutely amazing very informative and helpful especially with me being a completely new rider. If I could have him every time I come to this training I will. Have so much fun.
Negative experience: Ive been riding motorcycles for over 30 years met an owner of a school in Walnut California. He recommended this instructor program, i did background checks 125, did CPR programs 100, paid over $500 to total control. Missed one portion of the course, the instructor Dave said i could retake that portion if i went to San Diego to his course (covid hit) i reached out to him for over a year and a half. No call back to finalize the certification, if your planning on doing this course i would strongly recommend you do not have him as an instructor. He has a military background and treats his students like a drill Sargent, I'm writing this review in the nicest way possible. Thanks Ron for the $800 Jerseys and vest.
Fantastic experience: Learned a lot from this class! worth the money for sure and had the coolest and most awesome instructors! shoutout to Cynthia and Bob!
Fantastic experience: Another amazing class that will require a lot of good practice on the road to master. Ofir is a great instructor with a lot of good insights. Earl goes above and beyond! If I could give Earl 10 stars instead of just 5, I would! Not only is he an amazing instructor, but he went above and beyond to make sure my bike was safer and more stable to ride, by helping me with the adjustment of my suspension. I can't thank you enough for not only giving me added skills to keep me safer on the road, but you also sent me off on a safer motorcycle!
Fantastic experience: One day is too short, ARC is a must. Thanks to Earl and Ofir for yesterday’s training.
Fantastic experience: I had an absolutely amazing experience in the ARC level 1!! Instructor Ofir was precise & succinct in his coaching. As a previously experienced, occasionally trained & seasoned rider, this course offers great value in both the classroom & on bike riding exercises. Got much I hadn’t expected & am renewed in my passion for riding as a direct result of this course!
Fantastic experience: An absolutely superb experience taking the ARC (Advanced Rider Clinic) with Ofir Rios as my Instructor - Ofir's guidance, advice, riding skills demonstrations, and class room instruction was second to none. I can honestly recommend this course to anyone wanting to better there motorcycle skill set on every level. It is an absolute must - your day of advanced training will give your more confidence, more control and make you a safer rider. It will better you on any motorcycle for the rest of your life.
Fantastic experience: If you are looking to build skills and technique at speeds less than those experienced at typical Track Day schools, this is for you. I just completed the Advanced ARC Level 1 clinic and I am NOW looking forward to my first Track Day. Thank you Earl and Ofir!!!
Fantastic experience: I took the Premier course from Total Control Training that was held in Fullerton, CA. This is a 1-day course for riders who have some riding experience and for those that need a training course to get their M1 endorsement on their drivers' license. I had off-road motorcycle experience, have never ridden on the road, and have been off the bike for a number of years. This was a great re-introduction to motorcycling, and it reinforced the skills and concepts needed to stay safe on the road. The instructor (Jim Schwartz) was an experienced rider and highly effective teacher. The class size of the Premier course tends to be smaller than the 2-day course. Our class had 5 riders, so there was plenty of time for the instructor to give very personalized feedback during the training exercises. If you have some riding experience and want to learn more and optionally get your training certificate for licensing, this is a great course. It focuses on throttle control, braking, low speed maneuvering, road speed cornering, body positioning, and much more. Highly recommended!!!
Fantastic experience: I can't say enough good things about Lee Parks, Leon Winfrey and the rest of the Total Control team. This company is a great example of how to train and teach you the right way!!!
Fantastic experience: Been riding for 27 years. Been to many other motorcycle training schools including YCRS, one on ones with Pro Racers etc. By far Total Control Training intermediate, advanced, track clinic has made the largest physical and mental difference in my riding. my confidence on the Street and track on any motorcycle is much greater. Great programs. Incredible instructors. Value added beyond any of the others
