California Rider Education Training Area: Reviews
Negative experience: ***Rip off. Unsafe. Better to take a class elsewhere and try your luck at the DMV *** Took a class here a bit ago. Everything was fine until the final exam. I got through all the exercises easily, but made a small mistake on one component of the exam *which we had not practiced.* They failed me on the spot, and did not give me any opportunity to try again. (They said I could show up another day and hope for a no show -- no thanks). The class is also *dangerous*! You are sharing the course with other beginner riders. Someone in the class nearly crashed, and nearly crashed into other beginner riders. With regards the test, we should have plenty of chances to practice anything we will be tested on. Don't throw something on the test with no practice, and fail you on the spot if you make a small mistake. Absolute BS. I deserve my money back.
Fantastic experience: Had fun and learned a lot, the teachers are very knowledgeable and friendly took the beginners course at the alameda location. Would recommend to anyone interested in learning.
Positive experience: The reason I have mixed feelings about this business is because of the following. * training itself was fantastic and highly recommended. Instructors were great as was the training itself. The location (by USS Hornet) was a wonderful space for all that is needed for real-world practice. They also provide gear to newbies. * when having renewed my driver’s license to the real ID iteration, I later discovered the m1 class had been dropped. DMV wanted the m1 cert as proof, so I called and called and emailed and emailed asking this business for my records but was told they moved to a new database and couldn’t locate it. Their communication with me became sparse, though they said they’d keep trying. Was also told I would need to retake the entire class again to get my DL389…nope. Not spending another $400+. Eventually, I called CHP CMSP and was told the m1 cert is only good for a year after passing CMSP class. Luckily, the rep said she experienced the same and all I had to do was show DMV my prior license with the m1 to have it reinstated. I found a digital copy and worked like a charm.
Fantastic experience: I took the 6am weekend class w/ Eric & Kevin. Was deeply impressed with the quality of their teaching, as well as their patience, support, and encouragement. They excelled at presenting a dense amount of information to a full class in a short amount of time. It didn't feel like any of us were getting left behind, even while the group moved quickly and smoothly from activity to activity. Their feedback was thoughtful and seemingly tailored to each individual. I was surprised at how much progress I and my fellow students made in such a short amount of time. I feel much more prepared to be on the road now following those two sessions. Would heartily recommend this experience, and those instructors, to anyone.
Negative experience: My class was at 6am in the morning, in the email it says come at least 30minutes before to gear up and that's what everybody did. The instructors were always 1 hour late, which they made use wait 1 hour and 30 minutes. Unprofessional
Fantastic experience: called BAMT, now
Fantastic experience: Great program and great Instructors I completed the safety program and received my M1 license.
Fantastic experience: The instructors are very knowledgeable. You'll definitely learn how to ride properly and safely.
Fantastic experience: Great experience. More challenging than I expected.
Fantastic experience: great location to teach a class.
Fantastic experience: Great location if you're a new rider or simply want to brush up. Once you pass the course, getting your license is easier than taking the DMV riding course. The certification issued will count as passing your DMV riders test. The riders test at the DMV is notoriously difficult. Simply go take the written part at the DMV and present your certificate. They will automatically issue your M license if you pass their written portion. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and just cool people. There was one guy in my class who had been riding for a while and wanted to get his license. He was the most reckless of everyone. Instructors chose not to pass him. Because of his carelessness, I have no doubt they saved him from harm for now.
Fantastic experience: I took the beginner course this past weekend. It was recommended to me by Harley Davison Oakland. First of all the trainers are super friendly and great people. They really point out what you need to improve and help you to it, not to mention there cheering that lifts your spirt. I do recommend taking this course to improveotorcycle safety in California.
Fantastic experience: Expert trainers each provide knowledge and their experiences.
Fantastic experience: They do driveing test on weekends .
Fantastic experience: Great time with the instructor he was so great
Fantastic experience: They did a great job teaching everyone the skills and knowledge on what it takes to be a smart, conscious, and confident rider.
Fantastic experience: I've never ridden a motorcycle. Learned there and highly recommend taking it if you know nothing.
Fantastic experience: Great course with fantastic instructors. I'm glad I started my riding experience learning the basics here.
Fantastic experience: Excellent instructors that genuinely seemed that they cared about your safety and that you succeeded in the course. I learned so much and had fun while attending the classes. Once I get my license I might go back to take an advanced/ intermediate class! Thank you!
