I’ve been riding on a learner’s permit for several months, and I still learned a lot from this course that I wouldn’t have learned practicing on my own. I’d highly recommend this course to anyone looking to ride a motorcycle!

Fantastic experience: Took the course with 0 riding experience beforehand and had a great time. The instructors were very experienced, nice and helped a lot. The motorcycles they provided were good. I would recommend going on a weekday class since those classes seem smaller which makes for a better experience.

Negative experience: I’m sharing this review to help others avoid the same disappointment. I don’t recommend this motorcycle class. According to an employee, 80% of participants pass on average, while 20% fail, and refunds are not offered. I only found these statistics out after paying over $400. I brought all the required materials, was punctual, and participated diligently in the class, but I was still one of the 2 out of 10 who failed. Therefore, I couldn’t get the license I wanted through this class. Instead, I practiced on my own and passed the DMV skills test to obtain my license. I’m not sure if the fail rate is still the same, higher, or lower now. However, my advice to anyone considering this course is to ask about the failure rate before paying. If I had seen a review like this beforehand, it would have influenced my decision. I felt a lot of pressure from the instructor’s attitude, and at one point, I was suddenly asked to leave the class, which was a very shocking experience for me. This left a lasting impression on me, and I still feel regret over the $400 I spent, as I didn’t feel that the service or learning provided was worth the cost. My advice is not to rely solely on the high Google review scores, but to ask detailed questions and carefully evaluate before committing. This experience has taught me an important lesson, and I will make more cautious decisions in the future.

I love that they take the time to tell everyone personally what they are doing wrong and what they are doing correctly. I learn a lot in the two days. From turning, how to sit properly, to safely driving. I highly recommend ALL riders to take the course. There were riders that have been riding for 8 years that took this course. Fantastic experience: I'm 51-years-old and had never so much as sat behind the bars of a motorcycle. I got a hair up my arse a couple of weeks ago and decided I wanted to learn how to ride. I booked my course with Clutch in Long Beach, finished the online portion of the class, and showed up to learn to ride. There were about ten students, some had previous experience and some new to the experience, just like me. There were two female instructors, two amazingly brilliant female instructors, Ashley and Tony. Straight away you're sitting on a bike. Walking the bike in clutch to get the feel of the bike. In no time at all, you're riding the bike in a straight line in first gear, slowly. But, by the end of day one, you're ripping around their course. Day two, they have you honing in on the skills you just learned. Now you're truly flying around the course, learning how to counter steer, weave between cones, take sharp turns, balance while riding slowly, commit when turning sharply. Both Tony and Ashley were phenomenal. I had a huge lack of confidence going into this. But, both of these girls, with their professional manner, and instructions, and smiles, and banter, made me feel like I had this, I owned this. Then, at the end of the second day, they tell you they are no longer your instructors, they are now your DMV testers, they're going to grade your skills and can no longer give you advice. I don't know why this was a shock to me, but I bottled it, my nerves jumped through the roof. For the DMV portion of the class, for the test, you perform the tasks you were trained to perform during the past two days. The girls will have you ready. The other students in the class are with you, you're striving each other on. To me, it was nerve wracking. The other lads killed it. They were riding as if they were born on a motorbike. My nerves, however, got the better of me, and I had the worst ride of the two days. I don't know why. But, you get more than one chance at each task. I needed more than one chance at a couple of them. At the very end of the second day, the last day, they make you feel relaxed again, set up the course as if it was a four-way intersection, and have you ride around. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Then, you're done. Take off your riding gear, gather together, get called up one by one to hear your results. Be told if you passed or not. I, of course, thought I failed. I had the worst ride of the two days during my testing. My nerves had got the better of me. Tony called me up to give me my results. She asked me how I thought I performed. I told her I knew I had a bad ride but that I had an amazing weekend and I was grand with whatever result I had. I was ready to have to take the riding test again at the DMV. She read through my results, told me where I had failed and gathered points against me, and then told me I has just passed the test. I was gobsmacked, astounded, overjoyed. I wanted to give her a huge hug. The Clutch class is truly amazing. If you have riding experience, the class is great to teach how to be a safer rider. If you're brand new to riding, the class will get you riding around on two wheels at a great speed, with confidence. I highly, highly recommend this course. My instructors, Ashley and Tony, were a true pleasure, two real caring professionals. I can't thank them enough. I'm going to continue learning to ride safely, and in time sign up for their more advanced riding classes. Take the class, you won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: Nearly 10 years riding dirt and I took this course with my son. Aaron, Ashely and Queena brought so many more details to my riding knowledge. I learned so much just going through the basics and incorporating that to the road. Take this course. Build on your skills regardless of where you are. I’m enjoying riding the streets so much more after taking this course.

Fantastic experience: The 5 stars are for Amanda who is the business owner. My learning journey was bumpy. Without any riding experience, in the first day, I was kicked out in about half way because I did not turn my head enough. I felt it was a harsh call. I knew I needed to do better. I signed up 3 private lessons with Amanda. She was great. Weeks later, I took the 2-day lesson again. I felt I did good. However, I failed the test at the end because I did not drive fast enough during the sudden stop test. Well, it was a harsh call. I was going to take another private lesson with Amanda but she was out of town. She encouraged me to just take the test again. A few days later, I attended the 2nd day lesson. With all the practice, I felt more confident. The two instructors were Kevin and Richard. If I had them in my first day of riding, I would have passed. They were very patient and no yelling. I encounter a total of 6 instructors. My preferences start with Amanda, then Richard, Kevin, Ashley, Aaron, Jennifer. I would avoid Jennifer because she was dramatic, yelling…Somehow, some of them liked to yell across the riding range. Yelling could make students more nervous and non-productive. Overall, it is a good learning experience. I will go back to take some advance classes with Amanda, hopefully.

Fantastic experience: After participating in the beginners course I feel very confident in my ability to operate a motorcycle. I was a pure beginner and had never even been on a motorcycle, however with help and instruction I passed my evaluation. The facilitators Aaron, Ashley, and Queena were very supportive and offered clear instruction. I would highly recommend this class as a good place to start your motorcycle journey.

Fantastic experience: I have never been on a motorcycle before and was very worried about taking the CMSP class. However, Merna and Amanda was very informative about the class schedule. The instructors were awesome and caring (shout out to Toni, Aaron, Brian, Jennifer); they made me very excited to continue to ride after the course. I failed on my first attempt and have to retake the class but on the second attempt I was so much more comfortable riding the bike and doing the exercises. There were a few girls in class so I don't feel too lonely neither. In summary, I highly recommended taking the class with Clutch.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with the clutch Motorcycle training course in Long Beach. The instructors were very nice, professional, and motivated. They were supportive, ensuring, and clear in explaining everything. I had a great time there. It was nice to be in an environment around like-minded people who want the same thing. And that is to learn how to ride and to ride better for some. Everybody was chill and respectful. I would HIGHLY recommend this class to anybody who is trying to learn the basics and fundamentals of riding a motorcycle. It is straight hands on. I also would suggest taking it with a friend. I’d like to think Carl, Ashley, And Tony…. They were the clutch motorcycle Instructor/Trainers there. And I like all of them. They are informative and proficient. They know what they are doing. listen to them because they give great information on everything motorcycle from A to Z. Please take this corse if you want a good hands-on experience in your beginning phase of riding. Do ask a lot of questions. They will be answered there. Also, if you can show up early, do so to get a feel of the place. Also it will give you ample time to put your gear on before the course starts! The downside is that there are a lot of airplanes flying over because there is an airstrip right next to The training course. The instructors have to wait till an airplane flies by, or they’ll haft to speak louder as the planes and helicopters take flight. The planes takeoff right there. Thank goodness they’re not landing right there. The helicopters were doing flight maneuvers. It was kinda like a free airshow but boring and annoying. I started thinking of MacGyver riding a motorcycle on the airstrip to catch a plane before it took off to escape whoever was chasing him. Or MacGyver, even flying a helicopter away from his pursuers. But I should have been paying attention to the class. This could break your concentration. Motorcycles helicopters and airplanes? A loud situation. In my opinion it’s distracting to the class. Hopefully, they will find a better location for the course in the future. Isn’t there always room for change and improvement? In taking the course, I know more about motorcycles. I know more than I probably would by just asking some motorcycle person on the street who may not even have a motorcycle license. All of the motorcycles there to practice on were in outstanding condition. And they are nice, not raggedy motorcycles. Do not pass up the opportunity to ride a great bike. It may help you choose a bike that you want as well If you don’t have a bike already. The instructors Ashley, Tony, and Carl exhibited care for our safety. when i made mistakes which were more than few , they continuously pushed us to get it, right! They do not want you to get out there on the streets and get Injured or hurt on a motorcycle. I could tell that in their teaching and instructing. And that was so cool. But also, they’re not trying to scare you either into not wanting to ride a motorcycle even though there are real dangers in doing so.They take it seriously in teaching you to ride safely and carefully. One thing I would like to add, is that maybe they should have a print sheet or sign there on the range or in the online training that shows the hand signals that the instructors are giving so that learners will be more familiar with it when taking the course. For us who are learning how to ride that is. (like the hand signs for speed up, slow down, Park your bike, lineup, your bike, etc?) When all said and done cornering, taking off quickly, picking up speed, stopping abruptly, aiming through your turn, keeping your head up when you’re riding. These things that are more clear after taking the course. Some of the stuff just has to marinate in your mind afterwards. In all, if you’re considering taking a beginning motorcycle course, take this clutch motorcycle training course and support Long Beach…. L.B.C. Ride on! See you later. Fantastic experience: Location is easy to find. Online courses are an excellent resource for practicing motorcycle comprehension. Student printable or downloable manual is awesome. Now, the fun part and learning curve comes from the onsite motorcycle staging area. Everyone there is super friendly, patient, and helpful. I'd definitely recommend this course to new or current riders! Everything makes sense now!

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience, got trained a few months back, my instructors were both very patient and tried their best to explain to me how to ride the motorcycle properly, they take their time to make sure you understand everything, very very very patient, would definitely come back for my extensive second training when I get my motorcycle

Fantastic experience: I took the two day beginner course at Clutch. I had no prior experience, but the instructors- Ashley and Brian- were fantastic and did a great job making us feel comfortable on our motorcycles and giving us individual feedback. The motorcycles they provided were appropriate for beginners and ran well. There is also a good selection of protective equipment. My one bit of feedback is that there were slightly too many motorcycles on the course. Had there been just two or three fewer students, or had the course been a few yards longer, there would have been a lot more room to practice higher speed maneuvers.

Fantastic experience: UPDATE- I am new to riding and decided this week to just go for taking a course and I’m so glad I chose clutch motorcycle training in Long Beach. I went in today for my first day of training and I was surprised by how fast I learned to start and ride a motorcycle! Tomorrow is my second day and I’m so excited! Their trainers, Aaron, and Brian were so helpful and very knowledgeable, they didn’t make you feel uncomfortable, or like you were doing something wrong I like how they were very confident in me, a. else! I would highly highly highly recommend this place to any person who has never Ridin a motorcycle themselves! When I first got on there, they heard me say that my heart was racing, because I was scared about dropping the bike or some thing and they made me feel so comfortable and we all eased into it. So far I am overly satisfied with the price and the training, ALSO if you don’t have any of your own gear, they have loaners there as far as what you need to bring is just your self boots that are above the ankle, a long sleeve shirt, and a jacket, and jeans, without holes in them, luckily, they had a helmet and gloves for me to borrow. I am looking forward to tomorow. Thank you Brian and Aaron! Also I am the one on the right in the photo! Update- I finished my training today and luckily passed! Today I also met a new trainer named Ashley! She was so nice and motivating and hyped me up when she thought I did a good job and made me more confident! Positive experience: The riding course was good, especially if your haven't ridin a motorcycle before. >>>>>First day was Carol, he was awesome made us very comfortable, had jokes and was very clear on instructions. Second day was tess, she was cool as well. Location was easy to find, sign up was fast. I wore high top vans, dot helmet and moto gloves. The price has up double from last year, for the price I would expect better from the online class course. I am a seasoned rider, in my opinion the online classroom course was extremely outdated, I felt like I was in middle school detention Some of the test questions *in reality* had 2 right answers. I give to online courses 0 stars hence the 4 stars overall.

Fantastic experience: As a small female with no riding experience, I was nervous to take my CSMP here, and worried that I would feel out of place. This was not the case at all, Aaron, Brian, and Ashley were fantastic instructors that provided valuable feedback and helped me feel more confident in my riding abilities. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and made me feel like I belonged! The bikes and equipment provided were in great condition and the class was very well paced! I highly recommend this course and these instructors to anyone looking to earn their CSMP or just try out riding for fun! I will definitely be back for more advanced courses here!

Fantastic experience: If you wanna learn how to ride safely and also have fun at the same time then this is the perfect place to do so! The whole experience from booking till the skills assessment was outstanding. The bikes looked new and well maintained and the learning atmosphere was friendly yet professional. I did not pass my skills test from the first time and had to retake the test again which tells you that these people really wanna make sure that you know how to drive safely before allowing you to get on the streets. Shout out to Tessy our instructor who was amazing and made sure we understood everything in a friendly manner. And shout out to Amanda for running the business successfully and making it easy for me to retake the test. I highly recommend this place and I am definately coming back for the Advanced Course.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Clutch and their training program! I loved my time at Clutch Motorcycle Training! All the instructors, Clay, JJ, Tessi, Marna, and Jennifer were fantastic teachers. They did a wonderful job of teaching the material in the classroom. They took their time and were very thorough. On the range, I was impressed by the motorcycle selection. I was expecting some old beat up bikes but was surprised to find modern cruisers and sports bikes. I got to take the class on a BMW G 310 R. The instruction on the range was great. We got to ride a ton and repeat the maneuvers enough times to feel comfortable as new riders. The different maneuvers, walking the motorcycle, weaving between cones, counter steering, and quick stops, plus many more were a lot of fun and educational. I walked away feeling like I have a good foundation to build upon. Study the material before class and be ready to learn. Listen to what the instructors are saying and just do it. Once you begin to trust them, you'll find great success. Greg

Fantastic experience: Amanda, the owner, was wonderfully responsive and answered all my questions prior to taking the class. I took the beginner course with JJ and Kevin, and they were incredible instructors. They were funny, and wonderfully patient with me. I'd had no real experience on a bike prior to the class and they gave clear, easy to follow instructions throughout the program and good feedback so I was able to pass the test! Over-all 10/10 I will absolutely be recommending Clutch to anyone and everyone.

Fantastic experience: Bro, I highly recommend this school. I went to some cheap school cause I thought I was getting a deal, but you know what they say “You get what you pay for!”. I was really having problems with that damn “Lollipop test”. I paid them for a private lesson and this biker chick helped me get it down, then I took their class and now I feel like a boss on my bike!

Fantastic experience: Today my mom took her exam, even thou she didn’t pass. She wanted to leave a good review because she said the staff if all great. And she kinda knew because of what Carl said in class. You have to do a check in before reaching the gloves and helmet at the range or simply going on a ride. Even thou she knew today was a hard day, she wanted to break 17 year death anniversary of a loved on this date by passing her exam. It dawned that the course is literally GREAT!!! Keep your promises and C.M.T.P. Will keep their promise, to show you and teach you. She’s been singing speed, position, aim, and turn since she got home. Usually on this day she would be sad. But because all the staff were great her spirit remain great. So if you really want Jennifer to teach you the song go to this school. My mom said Bryan and Kevin were great instructors. Their customer services was outstanding. And she remembered to go home and practice releasing the clutch slowly and maintaining a steadily increasing pressure to the throttle with a towel . I’m sure my mom will pass the next time. Thank you all for making my moms day, and teaching her to ride motorcycles she so excited to try again.

Fantastic experience: Before taking this class I had never been on a motorcycle, much less I didn't even know how to put it in gear. After the lessons that are taught, both in the class and on the range. Are very helpful on building a solid foundation on how to be in control when riding. Initially I had enrolled for the weekend lessons, the instructors Jennifer, Kevin and Ashley were great! They communicated clearly on how to perform the exercises and how to improve when performing them. I enjoyed my experience so much, that even though I did not pass the riding portion to obtain the certificate, I was determined to get back on the range and re-ride for it. After reaching out to Amanda (or the person that responded to my emails, thank you), and scheduling a re-ride, I was determined to get the certificate. On that day, both Nick and Jennifer were helpful in communicating to me on what I needed to do to better execute the exercises when it came time to be tested on them. With their help, I was able to successfully complete the course and with the confidence to hit the open road. Overall it was a great experience, that I highly recommend to anyone interested on learning how to ride. TL;DR: take the class, you won't regret it.

Fantastic experience: My experience was a bit different in that I got the 3 day beginner course with quite a bit of experience under my belt. I needed this course because my 600lb motorcycle was definitely not going to be easy to do the dmv lollipop test with. And though I was frustrated all throughout the course because of the speed, it was a very good decision to take this class. Everything I had already been doing had names and even more nuance to it. I was able to actually understand and perform maneuvers better. There's just the warning to experienced riders, take it slow. I'm glad the instructors were as patient as they were to my own inpatience. They were even accommodating to me missing a class and putting me in the next available one. Already got another experienced but unlicensed rider buddy to sign up for the two day course!

Fantastic experience: My instructors Marna & Jennifer are amazing teachers. I normally get so nervous doing things out of my comfort zone but after a while they made me forget I was even nervous! I had so much fun the second day. They had a fun dynamic and made jokes to put us at ease. Anytime I made a mistake they gave me plenty of time to take a breathe and correct it even when I made the same mistake multiple times. If I was unsure of something, they were really there to answer my questions and help coach me. They were very firm in the rules but kind. They really know what they’re doing! I’m so grateful. I was also lucky that my classmates were equally eager to learn and we were all super supportive of each other. I could see everyone quietly cheering while each individual took their turn on the tests. Overall this class was definitely worth it. If you and your classmates participate, it’s so much more enjoyable. Thank you so much Clutch! Definitely recommending this course to everyone.

Fantastic experience: With all honesty the instructor’s I had made this experience amazing and gave me a new respect for the bike and myself as a new rider. I enjoyed it so much and felt I got so much from it that I’ll be signing up for another. I had JJ and Ashley and they were awesome. Kinda wish I could go for a ride with them lol.

Fantastic experience: This is an amazing class to take. I have never ridden a motorcycle and in 2 days they prepped me with the basic knowledge and riding know how I needed. At the end you have to take their written test and a riding test, if you fail either of these it's on you 100% because they do such an amazing job. I look forward to riding on the road and continuing my learning to become a better rider!

Fantastic experience: As a complete and utter novice who knew absolutely NOTHING about motorcycles, I greatly appreciated the opportunity to take a course to learn from experienced instructors as safely as possible. This course DELIVERED. Carl, our zoom instructor, was very knowledgeable, offered lots of advice, and answered my "beginner" questions very helpfully and without judgement. On the range, I found both Kevin and Katie to be very patient instructors who clearly cared about promoting safe practices. For me, Katie was particularly helpful and encouraging. I loved being pulled to the side for more individualized feedback/advice on my performance, especially when I was clearly anxious and struggling with some of the more advanced skills at speeds greater than 10 mph. Although I passed both the written exam and the riding exam, I definitely do NOT feel ready for the road and plan on taking more courses to feel safer and more confident on a motorcycle. I reached out to Amanda, who I met briefly in person during the written exam, and she has been extraordinarily helpful in advising how to move forward. I will probably look to take the intermediate course next and might even supplement with some private lessons. In any case, the beginner course is a SOLID introduction to the world of motorcycling, and I am so grateful to have had the great experience that I had.

Fantastic experience: Just finished the basic rider course, and had a very good time here. Learned some good fundamentals, strenghtened the skills I already have and the proper way to perform them. Learned ALOT about road safety and strategy in very specific situations that you wouldnt even dream about if you only took the DMV test. The instructors were all down to earth, very knowledgeable and really good at spotting what you need to work on and telling you what to do to improve. Highly recommend to riders of all skill levels especially beginners. I could see everyone in my group getting better and better as each excercise passed and there was plenty of actual riding time. Definitely going to take the advanced class soon

Fantastic experience: I had a very great experience here at Clutch Motorcycle Training in Long Beach. I got to learn a lot and I benefitted greatly from the practical application of the knowledge I had about riding. All the instructors, especially Katie, were very friendly, informative, and cooperative, with the exception of one, named Nick. Nick was kind of sarcastic, and was acting as if he was teaching a bunch of preschoolers. Overall, I had a great experience here, and I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family. You never know, I might even be back for intermediate and advanced training classes.

Fantastic experience: Went in excited but nervous about whether I could even get on a motorcycle without falling down. Left being really happy with the experience and looking forward to learning more. Everybody was super encouraging and there wasn't a single time where anyone, instructor or rider, was negative in any way. Felt comfortable being in an uncomfortable position. The best way to learn.

Fantastic experience: You will learn to ride a motorcycle here with no pressure to impress. Instructors are friendly and informative, plus will take the extra time to teach you at your pace. They have a selection on motorcycles from sport, cruiser, scooter all in different sizes. As well as loaner gloves and helmets, if your doesn't meet the requirements. You'll have fun here learning to ride.

Fantastic experience: If you are thinking about getting a motorcycle or you are already a rider the Clutch Motorcycle Training course is essential to riding safely and surviving hazards on the road. You will learn aspects of riding that you absolutely would not know on your own. I was impressed with depth of knowledge of the instructors. Amanda worked with my special needs with real concern and willingness to help. She is truly a lovely & kind person. Carl was my classroom instructor who taught with patience and grace giving us a comprehensive quantity of the rules of the road. Marna, Beth & JJ were my field instructors. They all were incredible and taught us how to ride in every situation imaginable. Having a great respect for all of us students they instructed with precision making sure we were ready to get on a bike. Also, I enjoyed their sense of humor! Clutch Motorcycle Training is an absolute must for all riders. If you don’t take this course and you get on a motorcycle then ... this is possibly how you will end. Terri Star
