Parkside Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Walked in, asked for help and information, only to recieve an attitude from the front desk lady. I'm assuming her name is Sheila since I'm seeing a lot of other reviews complaining about her. I wasnt there to tolerate her beahvior so I just walked out right out.
We're sorry you didn't get your answers. Please reach out of you still need help.
Fantastic experience: Over all a decent place to go take your driving test , I seen bad reviews of people there who are “Rude”. I didn’t have a bad experiance & was treated with respect. Not everyone is going to be your friend, You are there to learn. Driving is serious , Just get in & get out. Kill em with kindess & good luck with your test. Drivers Keep Washington Safe ❤️
Thank you for the kind remarks.
Negative experience: Tried to call on the phone to schedule a written test and when I got on the phone she instantly got attitude about saying I have never tested with them and was rudely asked for a name once I gave it she then asked for an ID or wa dol number and I had to go get my id and said one moment I gotta go get my id and then once i got back I said hello and straight away I get the same attitude like YEA IM WAITING FOR YOU! Instantly don’t want anything to do with this place and their services.
We're sorry. The explanation is that we have recently changed our scheduling system to something that will soon be much better, but right now it's overwhelming and frustrating us. Especially while we're on the phone. That is only an excuse, and we will get better, but for now please accept our apology.
Fantastic experience: I truly enjoyed my lessons with Parskide instructors, Scott and Paul. They are both very patient and kind. I made all sorts of really really stupid mistakes, like driving head-on into the wrong side of the road when turning (multiple times!!), not stopping at intersections, and neither of them ever raised their voice – not even slightly! They didn't even "seem" annoyed. It was very kind of them to behave that way because, for me, driving lessons were very daunting, knowing that I had to transfer my muscle memory to a ginormous automatic car with everything on the wrong side of the road. I was very comfortable learning from them though. The source of their calmness will always be a mystery to me. Even when testing for the license, they're very committed. Paul was my examiner, and he did his best to make me less nervous, and it was obvious that he really wanted that I pass. What he could not do was make me intelligent, so I failed my test. However, I blame American intersections and their complicated yielding rules for that. It's not the instructors for sure. Sheila at the front desk is a very fun person! People calling her rude in their reviews have no sense of humour. She's just sassy!
Thanks, Amna!
Fantastic experience: My son went here and it was amazing. I loved the front desk lady she was so funny!!!
Thanks!
Positive experience: Overall a decent place to learn how to drive, Chris was a great zoom instructor and most of the driving instructors are very nice and helpful EXCEPT FOR LUIS! Avoid Luis at all costs!! If you can, request Scott or Paul instead. If anyone wants details: Luis is rude and condescending, mutters instructions, gets annoyed if you ask him to speak up, and he uses his Parkside vehicle as his regular day-to-day car so it's always full of half drunken drinks, kids toys, and crumbs. He also hogs the AC, driving with him in the summer was awful. My first drive lesson ever was with him and it was so stressful. I forgot the name of the tachometer when he asked and he just wouldn't tell me and said "I don't know isn't an answer", I was already so nervous for my first drive and he was not making any effort to actually teach me. I also had my final test with him and he gave such confusing and quiet instructions I barely passed after practicing the skills and studying for months and months. He had me pull into a parking lot and then asked me to back around a corner while I was in the middle of the parking lot so I had to reverse all the way to the curb and it was very difficult to get straight. He also had told me to turn into said parking lot as we were passing it and got annoyed when I was physically unable to do so since he told me as I was passing it. During parallel parking he had me park between two random people's cars which is realistic but setting me up for failure, one small mistake could fail the test and cause damage to someone else's property. Luckily, I had practiced for hours and knew what I was doing but that isn't true for everyone. Also, at the beginning of the test when he asked to see the hand signals for turning, he said my signal for turning left was incorrect, refused to tell me the answer and said the test would not continue if I didn't know it. My mistake was that I stuck my arm out with my palm down, not facing toward. I was on the verge of tears because I studied so hard and didn't want to fail the first try over something so trivial and unimportant. Let's be realistic, your average driver isn't an expert on hand signals, if your pointing in the direction you want to go they'll get the idea. Luis needs to learn how to effectively teach new drivers and be somewhat polite or go get a different job. (He also needs to clean his car, having that disgusting of a vehicle at his grown age is just embarrassing).
We raku appreciate the time you took to write this review. There are some specific things here that we can address. Some of the things specifically about the test and the backing maneuver are the way they are because of State guidelines, but we can definitely address much of what you are suggesting. Thanks!
Fantastic experience: Good staff. Everything they teach is very helpful and easy to understand.
We're glad you had a great experience!!
Fantastic experience: The course was very nice, and easy to follow and understand. All of the staff were kind and helpful. I highly recommend the course. (Ignore all of the one-star reviews, they're just from trolls and people who didn't pay attention and pass lol )
Negative experience: Worst experience ever I called and talked to the front desk and Sheila answered I ask if I could schedule a appointment and she was very rude and being unprofessional I see many other people are having the same problem why is she still hired??
Negative experience: Worst driving school ever, save your money to go somewhere else. All staff are all rude especially Sheila the front desk lady. Instructors are rude as well and don’t even know how to instruct. Where do you hire these people ?
Negative experience: worst experience anyone could ever have. was on the phone with sheila and she was super rude… and i hear alot of people have the same problem why is she not fired yet she needs a reality check
Positive experience: decent staff, decent learning
Thanks!!
Fantastic experience: Love Parkside they teach really good they made me feel way better and feel like I can do stuff better and boosted my confidence up a lot
Glad you are having a good experience. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic experience: Really awesome school! Chris, Lynn, and the instructors are so nice and they are so helpful. I feel super prepared and confident for the wa state tests :)
Thanks! You're on your way to a lifetime of good and safe driving!
Positive experience: Very easy, courses went by really fast and only took a month to complete 15 classes. Although I would’ve enjoyed breaks in the middle of classes. They’re about 2 hours long.
Fantastic experience: Very much enjoyed the online instruction! My instructor was Chris, and he made sitting down behind a screen for 2 hours better than I originally would have thought!
Negative experience: Worst place ever I have 4 kids and this will be the first and last kid they ever goes to this place. I should had known with the first phone call I had with this lady. It seems no one knows anything and if they ever screw up they always blame the student for the offices mess up. I have proof to show them and she doesn’t want to see it or care.. I will never recommend this place to anyone I will actually recommend not to use this place.
We're sorry you had a bad experience with us. I don't know the specifics of your case, and this isn't a good venue for debate even if I did know the specifics. Regardless, we strive to be the best driving school our community can choose and we regret you didn't feel that way.
Fantastic experience: Excellent class experince, teachers are informitive, well structured all around. You really do have to pay attention though, make sure you don't miss any of the polls!
Awesome! Thank you! We're glad you had a good experience.
Negative experience: Sheila is extremely reactive on the phone and unable to understand WA DOL laws about parallel parking, not only thus but she is also willing to lie and discredit potential customers to cover her instructors' mistakes, discredit worried community members about unsafe or illegal driving practices, and lie about when / how drives with students are conducted. I wouldn’t recommend anyone serve their children such discredit by trusting their inexperienced drivers to be led by these unbearable and incompetent blind and oblivious idiots.
We're sorry you had a bad phone conversation with us. I'm not going to get into the specifics of your call here, but I will say that I am the instructor who was parking in front of your house. We will try not to use your address again in the future. Nothing we were doing was illegal, but we're not trying to upset people in the community. Your house is on our state mandated test route and your street is the area designated for Parallel parking, so we're doing what we have to do.
Negative experience: Sheila is nasty and uncooperative on the phone. At first, she refused to sell us a service that is clearly offered on their website. I have contacted them three times about rescheduling a class that begins in three weeks. No one replies. I already paid the fee to hold a place in the class, but I am taking my business elsewhere. I won't have my child interact with these people. Two thumbs down.
We're sorry you had a bad experience. We strive to meet the needs of every customer, but sometimes we fall short. We hope you have a great experience with the school you select.
Negative experience: If your instructors are teaching young new drivers to sit in the passing lane, go 72, pace another vehicle, and use vulgar hands gestures on other drivers WHILE THEY ARE ON THEIR PHONES, then I am extremely worried for the next generation of drivers about to be on the road. I only wish I had had a passenger with me to get a picture of the older driving instructor that was in your company vehicle so I could include it in this review. I am no longer surprised as to why I didn't even recieve an interview with your company. It's because I am a younger and experienced driver and I actually follow and obey the rules of the road. The obscene hand gesture from an elderly man holding up 5+ vehicles in the passing lane in your company vehicle really sends a message about what you do at Parkside Driving School.
Thanks for your reply. I was the driver of the vehicle you are referring to. I'm not interested in getting in an argument here. I will only comment that the rude gesture you refer to was me giving you a thumbs down for tailgating my vehicle while I was already exceeding the posted speed limit and passing 2 vehicles travelling slower than myself. The other details you cite are not accurate, but this is no place for that conversation.
Negative experience: If i could write a review with less then one star i would.Right when we walked in the lady was very rude and talked aggresivley to my daughter and we put up with it but then she kept saying disrespectful words to us and we walked out.I do not recommend taking a test in this driving school... cusomer service is horrible
I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience with us. We will discuss with staff.
Negative experience: Very rude customer service provided by the lady at the front desk on June 4th 2022.
Fantastic experience: The only bad reviews are from people who didn't pass
It's true, testing at Parkside is a more pleasant experience if you pass. Thanks for the review!
Negative experience: They don’t know how to answer a phone
We are receiving a very high volume of calls for our staffing. Please leave a message and we will return the call as quickly as possible.
Fantastic experience: Such a nice experience
Fantastic experience: Great driving school! I am happy it was such a positive and loose atmosphere in the building. Passed both my Knowledge test and Driving test the first time! Thank you Parkside Driving School for a positive experience!
Negative experience: Horrible school & rude owner! Called more than a year ago, multiple times, for information on getting my license. I was told as long as I have my permit and miles logged I was fine. That I did NOT need to take drivers ed. Took my drivers test A couple weeks ago unfortunately didn’t pass. Tried to schedule a new test and was told I need drivers ed, even though they were the same people that told me I didn’t. So now a year has been wasted on a decision made based off their information. Talked to the owner and was basically told it was my fault. I suppose it was because I trusted the information given to me by a driving school that is licensed by the state. Unfortunately I picked a driving school that is unprofessional & uninformed regarding state laws.
We're very sorry for any information that we may have given that was not clear.
Positive experience: They teach you important stuff ig
Fantastic experience: Excellent staff, nothing short of ideal!
Negative experience: They do teach you how to drive but instructor that taught the class was pretty rude to my niece you had to take classes there. Instructor should not voice their opinion on politics with young students where are there to learn to drive.
I'm sorry you felt our instructor was not appropriate. We will discuss your concerns with staff.
Positive experience: Good school but too much religion
Negative experience: Tricked my daughter. Took her on a unmarked road and failed her for going 5 miles over..seriously??? Now she has to pay another $50. Money hungry..
Negative experience: Horrible experience, my sister went in on a Wednesday to take her permit tests test, failed amd asked the man at the counter if she could pre pay for friday he said yes and asked if she was gonna pay with a card and we daid no and handed him 20$ cash. The man took my sisters money did some things on his computer and then handed us a card with her name and time for the appointment. When we went in in friday and told the lady atbthe dest that we pre paid for an appointment she said she couldnt find anything and askednif we had a receipt and the same.man was at the other desk with his back turned and didnt face us until may sister mentioned handing the money directly to him he turned and was obviously flustered and nervious and just said "oh well i wouldnhave handed them i reciept i remember there faces but afterni asked for the card they just said no and walked out" his whole story was shady and not true and when i told him that wasnt true he just said it was true with an attitude and at that point i just said that we wernt gonna get anywhere and left. They robbed me of money and then the staff was completely unwilling to own upnto any mistakes or help solve the situation for us. HORRIBLE!!!!!!
Fantastic experience: Great driving school
Negative experience: They told me to come at 9am then the doors were locked and I called ten minutes later on hold I just hung up. I'd find somewhere else to get your driver's lisence they dgaf
Negative experience: Don't waste your money here.
Negative experience: Their tests on purpose have about 10 questions whose options are nearly identical. They legit want you to fail. Everyone that took the test with me either failed or got at least 5 wrong questions. This is my second time failing the test and after reading a couple reviews and hearing from former students and people who have taken the test there I won't be wasting anymore of my money there, that's for sure. And no I didn't fail it because I didn't study I studied a straight week since I failed it the first time.
Negative experience: Don't go here very lame failed twice and they won't tell you what you even got wrong to fix your error went to another driving school and passed the first time thankfully someone told me they went here and failed four times and went somewhere else and passed first time not a good place to do your testing it is if you want to keep spending money
