Fantastic experience: Joseph is a wonderful instructor who teaches with patience, humor, and a wealth of experience. I had a short and strict timeline over which I had to get my license, and Joseph not only fitted me into his schedule on immediate notice but also was diligent in making sure I got a road test scheduled before I had to leave town - which I passed on the first try despite only having been behind the wheel one or two times before completing my package with Joseph. Not only does he prepare you for driving safely and competently in general, but he also has many helpful tips for the road test itself including experience with many of the test proctors. The package I purchased, which also allowed me to have a short practice right before the road test and use the same car for the test, prepared me adequately and made everything a breeze. I would heartily recommend Golden Star Driving School.

Fantastic experience: 100% recommend this particular school. It was easy to make an appointment and see where I was standing in terms of driving. Joseph was already so helpful over the phone when I had 100500 questions. He was very professional and understanding. He helped me understand the common mistakes, rules etiquettes and was very reasonable. I really liked how he maintained his composure throughout the test and continued to be patient. He was able to calm my nerves and helped me stay focused so that I could focus on driving. I was so confident and calm on my road test day that I passed in 10 minutes with no mistakes. Thank you! Fantastic experience: An awesome place with a very smart instructor. He ensures that in every continuous class you develop your cognitive behind the wheel. Most of his students, including myself have passed the first time because we were all whipped into shape before our drivers tests. His prices are fair and flexible, and he gives great lessons to all of his students. Anyone should be welcomed driving for him. Compared to other driving schools, he was definitely the best option for me and I have no regrets from my experience.

Fantastic experience: I can't recommend Joseph enough as a driving instructor. As someone in my mid-thirties learning to drive for the first time, a true beginner, he was understanding, patient, knew exactly how to instruct me, and was integral to passing my road test. Fantastic experience: Took 3 decades but I finally got my license! Joseph is an excellent instructor and punctual, which has not been my experience with other instructors. Fantastic experience: I had started taking lessons around the summer, I didn’t know much about driving. Joseph did a great job teaching how to parallel parking, broken u-turn and everything else. I passed the road test first attempt with his help. I recommend receiving lessons with Joseph!

He is a very experienced driver and instructor, especially when it comes to NYC driving and road test requirements, and he will make sure you are ready for your test and for driving safely afterwards. Fantastic experience: I am in my early 30's and was never taught to drive previously so I needed all the help that I could get. Luckily, a friend of mine, who procured services at Golden Star previously, shared with me that she had a great experience and recommended that I reach out; so I did. Well 1.5 months later and I passed my road test! Joseph was very very punctual, patient, professional, kind, caring, super friendly, and always made me feel like my safety was the top priority while driving. He was very transparent with me regarding my areas of focus and he took multiple classes teaching me the tips and tricks on how to do well on the road test. This included parallel parking, broken U turns, changing lanes, signaling correctly, how to appropriately stop at ALL WAY stop signs, and regular stop signs, and more. I thank him for all of his help, I couldn't have obtained my driver's license without him! Also, shout out to Julie for being so kind over the phone and for being super flexible with my schedule. Kudos to them both for working through a pandemic and a very busy summer season. Thank you so much for your assistance! :)

Positive experience: I dont know what to think.. now i am reading some of the reviews…it’s impossible to get in touch and every time i do get in touch it is like ah emergency office is closed .. ah secretary took a day off… i dont know. Giving it one more shot and we ll see if i get to remove this review.. bottom line there are other schools in neighborhood..

Negative experience: I had a pretty awful experience with Joseph. I purchased Package 2 for $400 back in March starting lessons right away and an additional $270 worth of lessons in April. Below are the reasons for this 1 star review: 1. He does not adequately prepare you for the Road Test. You will spend the majority of the 90 minute lessons driving in a straight line. He did not teach me Parallel Parking nor the 3 Point Turn til my last lesson so I ended up having to purchase more lessons and of course even with that I failed my Road Test. 2. He will take up a good portion of the lesson with small talk instead of teaching you. I believe another reviewer had this complaint as well. 3. The 45 minute lesson that comes with Package 2 is not actually a full 45 minute lesson but just you driving to the test site and when you get there going over Parallel Parking and the 3 Point Turn twice (10 minutes) then heading over to get in line for the test. 4. My lessons ended up being delayed by 2 months because Joseph caught COVID. This in and of itself is not a reason for a bad review and I wish him the best of health, however the situation was handled poorly. He never once offered a refund/ a partial refund when I basically had zero practice for 2 months because of the delay and forgot everything. Then I had to reschedule my lessons for the peak of summer when schools are out (the busiest time) which I had purposely tried to avoid by starting lessons in March. He actually looked annoyed when I complained which is pretty ridiculous. And there was very little communication from the office so I ended up having to keep checking to see when he would be available again.

Every driving lesson session, there is always new information provided. Instructor will not overwhelm you with a gazillion info in one session. Will definitely tell you frankly whether you still need more time with driving lessons or you are ready for the road test. The driving lesson package this school is offering is worth every penny as well!

Fantastic experience: Extremely good driving school. Joseph was always very kind and patient and quick to point out mistakes. He worked with me in order to correct some of the issues I was having with driving technique before taking the road test. I was able to pass the driving test on the first try and now I am the second person in my family to get their drivers license thanks to Golden star driving school. Fantastic experience: I'd put off getting my license for so long due to driving anxiety but I finally decided enough was enough! I shopped around a bit for driving schools and finally decided to give Joseph's school a try. Man, am I glad I did! He's patient, understanding, and our shared love for soccer didn't hurt either! Negative experience: Have been trying to reach them to schedule for class , but they never answer and never get back to you . Once she said he is available all week , when I went there, he was all booked. Also he wanted to charge me 50 $ Extra fee for the distance for my road test which is in Fresh Meadows. He claimed everyplace does that even Ferrari . Well, I went to Ferrari right after him, And guess what , they don't charge you an Extra fee for the distance , and also they have flexible and available drivers . So, he might be a very good instructor , but this was my experience with him.

Fantastic experience: My wife took package 1 (5 lessons + 5hr course + road test) with Joseph, and we can't say enough about how great the experience was. He was always on time and never rushed her through the lessons. He was complementary while also providing really good information to help her improve. She has experience driving abroad on the other side of the road so Joseph was really good at helping her to adapt to NYC roads. We added a sixth lesson right before the test just to make sure she was comfortable and Joseph was extremely flexible around the holidays. He's just fantastic.

Negative experience: Bill was a terrible driver..who didn't teach you anything about driving..he was just running his mouth..Ferrari is way better

Fantastic experience: I just passed my road test yesterday afternoon in Fresh Meadow under Frank's instruction. He is really good at teaching students with no experience in driving and under great pressure. I failed my road test with the instructor in flushing, Frank is much better, he taught me how to fix my parallel parking and U turn, and mention a lot of driving skills in real life driving, not just for the road test. He is the best!

Fantastic experience: Joseph is the best driving teacher you could ask for. He's an experienced driver with almost twenty year's skills, and is capable of delivering it in the most approachable ways in his lessons. I never drove before, and Joseph has taught me everything. I took a basic package, plus two additional lessons, and just passed my road test this morning. Astoria is also a great place to learn/take the test; it is busy with reasonable traffic, but not as scary as other part of NYC. I highly recommend the Golden Star driving school, and can't possible thank Joseph more for all his generous help and support.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my road test so I want to say golden star driving school is very responsible. You can totally trust the school if you want to pass the road test. I was super nervous and scared of driving in the beginning. Joseph first took me to the traffic and make sure I am getting used to the traffic and not scared anymore. Then he taught me how to turn the wheel correctly and make the turn smoothly. He has a very nice and easy learning protocol for parallel parking and U- turn too. Joseph is a very good instructor because he is very experienced and he can effectively correct your mistakes; he is very very patient and never lose his temper. I can feel he likes teaching driving and he is really good at it. So I strongly recommend Joseph and his golden star driving school ! Fantastic experience: Golden Star Driving school is great!! They have really good pricing and an amazing instructor! If you are thinking of getting your license you definitively should go to this school. Joseph is a very experienced driver and his patience made me feel very comfortable and safe. I was quiet nervous in the beginning since I hadn’t driven a car before but in no time I was becoming a confident driver. Joseph has great tips that makes parallel parking and three point turns easy. Every lesson I felt that I did a lot of progress. We did several mock road tests that really helped me to be prepared for the road test and feel less nervous and I passed on the first try!
