Oregon Driver Education Center: Reviews
Negative experience: I’m not sure if it was bc he was tired and I was his last driver he just wanted it to end fast, my instructor was rude and impatient he didn’t bother to further explain to me in what I should do better to pass next time. The instructions were given to u at the stops never before hand so u can prepare to turn it was horrible experience. I did my second test at pacific driver education and passed and they explained to me what I should work on and made me feel welcome and confident that I could do it.
Negative experience: No existen las oficinas de keizer.
Fantastic experience: I loved this place ! I had Adam as my driving examiner. He was very nice & he went through what I needed to work on before getting on the road again. Overall amazing experience ! Recommend this place for new drivers. - salem oregon
Fantastic experience: Very professional, informative and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Staff was very professional and my tester makes me comfortable before we started.
Fantastic experience: Friendly staff.
Negative experience: Nice, friendly staff, but definitely trying to milk money as much as possible. Obvious they want to fail people the first time to take advantage of test takers during a pandemic where nobody is going to go and wait 3 months for the DMV. Probably should of just went with the DMV to begin with.
Fantastic experience: I passed driving test without taking a class with them on my first test. I did the test with Ed Dennis. I was really nervous because English is my second language and I get used to drive in a different lane. Ed knew how to make people feel comfortable around him. He gave very clear instructions and directions that was very helpful.
Fantastic experience: My experience was located in Clackamas. I missed my first appointment and was devastated as it was due to extenuating circumstances. I explained that to Sue in an email and she was so amazing she was able to speak with her boss and reschedule me to my relief! As for test day this is my review: I was initially a bit anxious as this was my very first time taking a drive test ( I am in my thirties so that made me even more nervous ). I must have shown my anxiety because the instructor was very nice and commented that it was ok for me to breath after he said that I felt much more at ease and the rest of the test went very well. He was clear with directions and when i did request he repeat a directive he was curteous and repeated it for me. At the end he was very good about explaining to me what I could work on and gave me plenty of time if I had questions. Because he was thorough and explained everything in a easy way to understand right from the beginning I did not have questions. I would recommend Craig to anyone needing a drive test through ODEC and if I had to do it again Id specifically request him again.
Fantastic experience: The test was straight to the point and my advisor, Adam, was really nice! I’ve never taken a driver’s test before and my experience was great thru this company. I tested in Eugene.
Fantastic experience: We had a fabulous experience. Great customer service. We thought Sue and Ed were absolutely amazing!
Fantastic experience: Decent place to go to. The people are real friendly and they get right on whatever you are there for. Taking your license test was good.. they use newer vehicles.
Fantastic experience: Great place glad we choose them!
Fantastic experience: Great experience super friendly staff
Positive experience: Very professional! Did a great job putting my daughter at ease as she suffers from anxiety.
Negative experience: Scheduling is a nightmare and they have like 6 employees for the entire state and they travel from town to town to scheduled tests..which is why they have no availability. Absolutely just garbage.
Fantastic experience: very good experience and very good examiners I recommend it.
Positive experience: The male instructors are awesome. They make kids feel at ease and understand they are nervous. The woman instructor is mean and looks for ANY reason to fail a driver. Avoid appointments with her. You will notice she always has appointments available, there is a reason for it. The rest of the staff are great and very helpful. ODEC is such a better experience thab DMV, unless you have the woman instructor. I would bet her fail rates are the highest. She should go work for DMV!
Fantastic experience: It was good. Driving test examinior was very nice. It took 10min. Nice driving test.
Fantastic experience: NICE PEOPLE..CAR'S ARE VERY CLEAN..
Negative experience: If you don't give them 72 hours notice of not being able to attend a drive, their policy states they will charge you $55. If you are a no-show, policy says you have to pay $110. However, if they cancel on you even within a few hours, no accountability for them. Twice I've had to reschedule with them. First a class for an instructor no-show and second for a driver calling in sick a few hours before our assigned appointment. Next available appointment was 2 weeks after. Would have appreciated a substitute instructor to be on call so we could keep our appointment and they hold themselves to the same standards they do their students. When trying to schedule a make-up drive I was treated like I was getting special privileges and that 2 weeks out should not be a big deal.
Negative experience: This company canceled my appointment just one hour ago before the starting time. And they said examiner is sick. Come on if you don’t wanna do this job please leave it
Fantastic experience: Instructor Tim was the best, First test and pass.
Negative experience: very bad , dont reccomend edit: theyll fail you no matter what even if you do no mistakes youll fail
Negative experience: Stay away. At all costs. You will be disappointed. Impossible to schedule the required rides/drives. Do not return calls. Will strongly suggest to my daughter's school that they end their affiliation with ODEC.
Fantastic experience: Seriously, I would recommend anyone to test with this company. I tested with Travis on Monday and he made me feel at ease and was super patient. I didn’t attend any classes with the school. I practiced occasionally with my partner on my own (To save money). Just practice, relax, and go for it!!
Fantastic experience: Tim is the way to go, he is a cool guy and will help you through the test.
Fantastic experience: I gave my driving test here, with Craig. He was calm and chill throughout which was reassuring during the test. Also, the process overall is very fast and well-scheduled.
Negative experience: They did not know the state laws and regulations on taking the drivers skill test and so we drove from Beaverton to be told that we couldn't and we got confirmation that it was ok to take the test but they rejected us
Fantastic experience: Craig was very chill and pleasant. He made the test relaxing and answered all my questions. It was a fast process. Over all im stoked on this place!
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible this place will try to make you take the test over and over again. They say that they offer lower wait times than everyone else but in actuality they just want to make money of your retests and drivers-ed. DO NOT take a test here unless you have done drivers ed with them
Negative experience: Terrible. Scheduled my drive test over a month in advance. Day of test get a vm stating they have to cancel due to my instructor being sick and can't reschedule for another month out. Tried calling back but they don't answer their phone. Fantastic
Fantastic experience: I did my driving test today with Graig. He was very professional and made me feel comfortable enough to calm myself down and do a good test. My experience with the driving test here was very positive and pleasent. I recommend.
Negative experience: As many others have said, ODEC is disappointment after disappointment. There are not many offerings in town, but do yourself a favor and skip these guys anyway. My son is halfway through the course and they have only allowed us to schedule one drive. And about that drive, the instructor provided no coaching but plenty of yelling and criticism, slamming his teacher brakes on over and over to prove a point, even bringing the other female driver the tears he was so mean. They have used five different instructors at this point and the now permanent teacher is extremely dull and does little to add interest to what is admittedly a boring subject. Save your $500 or find a different school.
Fantastic experience: Went here for third-party driving test with instructor Tim. Went great, Tim was very calm and receptive to any questions before the test. I'd 100% recommend going here instead of the DMV
Fantastic experience: I recently took my road test at the Clackamas office. My tester/instructor was Craig. He was extremely professional and had a really calming presence. If you're prepared you will be successful. I'd happily recommend using ODEC to anyone of any driving age. Fast service and just as advertised. KMJ
Positive experience: I have had two teens go through this program and have found it to be professional and all-encompassing. No, it is not simple to get your drivers license...but it shouldn't be. Read the fine-print for the program details. I did this and it worked great for us. The driving instructors are mostly good. Yes, scheduling can be tough, but when I was struggling with that I called the office in Salem (I am in Tualatin) and they were helpful and got me scheduled. I would definitely recommend this program.
Fantastic experience: Travis held me accountable for the mistakes I made on my drive test, but he wasn't a mean guy, at all. If you know how to drive, this place can help you get your license... but they aren't giving handouts.
Positive experience: We have been very pleased with this program. It hasn't been the easiest to schedule all the drives, but my son only finished his classes one week ago, and he will have his final drive this week. My advice is to check the drives available each day, and once they come up to schedule two at a time. I have called the customer service number a few times for various things, and they have always been very polite and helpful. My son has liked all of the instructors he has worked with. I do wish they had drives closer in Portland, instead of out in Clackamas.
Fantastic experience: Past my test on first try. Very professional examiner and friendly office.
Negative experience: The worst scheduling of any company I have ever worked with. Incredibly coarse instructors who are unforgiving. Just learn at home and book with the DMV when you feel ready.
Negative experience: Two women working in the office in the morning were gossiping about paying customers and their driving tests–overheard incredibly rude things while waiting in the lobby for service about their customers’ intelligence and capabilities. Did not get a single greeting, acknowledgement, nothing. Didn’t even get greeted by my tester when they arrived! Very unprofessional. I’ll be going to the regular DMV from now on.
Negative experience: There is a significant unresolved problem with an employee at this business.
