Bluegrass CDL Academy

Fantastic experience: Awesome group of people. You get plenty of opportunities to work on your driving and backing skills. I've never driven manual before and they taught me to drive a 10 speed manual like one of the pros by the end of the 4 weeks. After hearing about other drivers' experiences in other schools, I definitely lucked out getting placed in this school. In my opinion, their training is structured really good and I don't see how they could improve it. As they say, why pay more for less training?

Negative experience: I went through here 3 years ago and I thought it was a good school, since then I’ve had 2 different friends go through here and it sounds like it’s really went down hill. The owners that started it used to stay there all day to make sure the school was up to par and running smooth , but they have turned the control over to the instructors , and all the instructors are worried about is going home at 3 pm…… 8 to 3 are the hours with a hour lunch . So you’re getting robbed of 2 hours a day of drive time - when it use to be or should be 8am to 5pm . 10 hours of driving a week they’re taking from you that you are paying for .So at the end of the course you’re getting robbed of 40 hours , a whole week of driving . You pay for 4 weeks but receive 3 weeks worth of training . SAD …..I guess shrinkflation just doesn’t apply to groceries anymore .

Fantastic experience: I completed my training at Bluegrass CDL Academy to remove my "E" restriction from my CDL, and the experience was truly valuable. The instructors were exceptional. I only wish I had obtained my CDL from this school originally. I am immensely grateful to the instructors who accompanied me and provided the guidance I needed not only to pass my test but to excel!

Fantastic experience: Amazing place to go and get your CDL. I had no permit nor license when I first started attending this school. Within 4 weeks I received my CDL permit AND today I officially graduated and earned my CDL. The instructors here are great at their job, very knowledgeable and very helpful. I did my research and they are also the cheapest around. You definitely get the most bang for your buck. If you're interested in getting your CDL, check this school out. You won't regret it!!!

Fantastic experience: Corey and Josh really helped me with their tips and feedback while driving. Thomas was also excellent at walking me through the backing maneuvers. Your experience here will be dictated by what you put into it. If you work hard and do your best to learn you'll have a positive experience. I also appreciated being a person and not just a number at a big school. I'd give them a recommendation to others looking to get their CDL.

Negative experience: There equipment is old but student friendly. The owner of the school John and trainer him self zero experience in driving never drove truck out on i 75 most of other trainer recently got there cdl fairly new. The owner He is cheater he tried to get as much money he can. He never return the money what he over charged. Never help you if you struggle to learn he even put down talk about you on your back, Make fun & give your false information recruiter. GOOD LUCK GUYS ALL NEW UP COMING STUDENT YALL DESERVE BETTER..

Fantastic experience: Like many folks, I am very skeptical about services that a company or product offers and look at the pros and cons through reviews. I am now a Bluegrass CDL Academy graduate and I can say with confidence this was hands down the best choice. The company is privately owned so not only do they teach you everything you need to obtain your CDLs but they will go the extra mile to ensure that you understand and become comfortable with driving the big rigs. The instructors are great and encourage you to help them help you. The have their own yard, six trucks (mostly manuals with one being an automatic) and the yard is laid out exactly as it is when you go to test on your test date. All in all, this is a great company and well worth your time and money. 100%

Fantastic experience: This school will teach you what you need to know and how to drive. Friendly and knowledgeable instructors. Their post school support is great. Im a recent graduate, I called today for advice how to handle a heavily load 10spd 53ft truck in the city on a steep hill stopped at a light. There was a passenger car 5 ft from the end of the trailer. Welcome to "Truck Driving 101," ... LOL! I highly recommended this school ... Safe Travels to All!

Fantastic experience: Back in March I came to Bluegrass CDL Academy. The only thing I knew about a truck is that I wanted to learn to drive one. My first couple of weeks were difficult. Nothing made sense and I wasn't getting it. BUT I kept going every morning and doing what the instructors told me to do. Matt, Buck, Steve, Ralph, and Robert kept working with me even when I was frustrated and seriously annoyed lol. I tested out with the state for my CDL yesterday. Twice during my maneuvers my nerves got the best of me and I was in danger of failing. I focused on the techniques I learned at the academy to recover and get that truck where it needed to be. Matt, and the other guys, always said to just listen to them, and learn/do what they said to. I did that and it was the difference between a fail and a pass yesterday. I'm very thankful to all of them at Bluegrass CDL (including Sue, the owner). My experience there was a very good one.

Fantastic experience: This is an excellent school. As an older student I have been exposed to several educational formats. This one has their program perfected. Excellent instructors that not only want you to pass the test but also give you the information you will need to succeed after the test. The owner instructs and spends time with every student. You will not regret choosing Bluegrass CDL Academy.

Fantastic experience: Covid-19 has affected nearly every single person and every industry in some way. While a lot of folks have either lost their jobs or portions of their income, trucking never stopped. As a father of a nearly 2 year old at the time of writing this (and one of those folks who’s income was massively reduced due to Covid) I realized that trucking is and will likely continue to be recession proof and possibly pandemic proof. There’s always freight that needs to go somewhere. I chose “Bluegrass CDL Academy” for my first step into a new career. Let me say, with no experience coming in, it can be overwhelming with all the information you’re going to intake in just the first week. John, Steve, Matt, Buck, and Robert were all outstanding instructors. I highly recommend anyone looking to get into trucking or solely to obtain your CDL to attend this school. While as I said it can be overwhelming, these guys know their stuff and they’re going to push you to get that CDL, because they actually care if you do. I went from stalling a truck nearly every time I touched the clutch to passing a road test with a 53’ trailer to get my CDL. If I can do it, I know YOU can! Thanks for everything! Fantastic experience: My name is Brittian and this is the best school on the face of this earth hands down, I don’t care what anyone says. Great owner and great staff, late model equipment up to par. My experience with this school and staff was truly outstanding and I encourage everyone who wants to become a professional driver to stop in and work the program, the information is easy to obtain and most certainly chewed up and spit in your lap. Fantastic experience: This is the best school you are going to find to get your CDL. The instructors are amazing and know what they are doing and actually take the time with you individually to help you with the things you struggle with. I had an amazing experience here. John (the owner) really helped me out and did everything in his power to help me in a way that I would understand. They go above and beyond to help you like your family. Even after I got my CDLs they helped me. I had trouble finding a job and John and Matt helped me out and contacted company’s they know and got me working the next week. They will also tell you the company’s that are going to treat you right and which ones are lying or misleading in the things they promise drivers. I would and HAVE recommended this school to anyone interested in getting they’re CDLs. You will not get this kind of treatment from the big “puppy mill” schools!! I know people who have tried them and heard all the horror story’s. John stuck with us after our CDL testing was cancelled for COVID - he made sure we were tested and earning as soon as possible. You won't find a better quality school. Fantastic experience: Couldn't imagine there being a better CDL school anywhere. These guys definitely care and take pride in getting their students on the road with their CDL unlike any other. Compared to my previous bad experience at a another CDL school, they provided the means, attention and the opportunites to ensure I was able to pass my test. They arent just trying to rush people through and say "give us your money, if you make it you make it, if you don't well, sorry about your luck". No, they will charitably provide you all the time and opportunities you need to ensure you are ready EVEN AFTER THE 160 HOURS! They really want to help people succeed. Just be sure to put forth the effort and take advantage of the resources they provide and you can guarantee you will have your CDL. Given the chaotic circumstances following the shutdowns from COVID19, they still worked diligently to communicate with students and the DMV to get people on the road as soon as possible. Fantastic experience: Bluegrass CDL Academy is a great place to prepare for a truck driving career. Be prepared for an intense 4-week program; however, if you put in the time an effort, and listen to your instructors, you will succeed! John, Matt, and John were great and have valuable knowledge and experience to share.... da-da-da-DA, clutch clutch! LOL I had personally never driven a tractor trailer before, but we had a great class and we all passed our CDL tests on the first attempts! Convenient to central KY and reasonably priced, this is a solid program that will only get better.

Fantastic experience: I just had the privilege to go to this school the last four weeks and passed the cdl on my first try. Coming in I knew nothing and had never shifted a gear in my life. John and his team are great. They are good at what they do, know their stuff and genuinely care about you and want you to succeed. Follow the process and the hymnal and you’ll be just fine! Shane and Rusty are Amazing instructors and they will get you where you need to go if Truck Driving is a Career you want to succeed at. You just have to put in the hard work and dedication to make it. Not to mention listening to the instructors that’s the most important thing. But all in all if it wasn’t for the school I wouldn’t be driving a big truck. I thank them so very much for everything. This school is the real deal.

I never drove a stick shift in my life and they teach me how to drive a 10 gear double clutch semi truck with a trailer. Anything it’s possible as long as you put effort on it.
