Fantastic experience: Good school with good teachers

Negative experience: On November 3, 2024, my wife was attending Brown's Driving School in Mustang, OK. My wife was born with a mild cognitive impairment and needed some help with parallel parking to pass her driver's test. She has had a learner's permit for years. My wife called me and said that the tornado warning sirens were going off in Mustang and that the instructor said for all of the students to call their rides to pick them up. THEY HAVE NO SHELTER??? I immediately left my home in rural Yukon. At State Highway 4 & W. Wilshire Blvd I myself was caught up in a separate tornado which was rain wrapped. It was a severe tornado outbreak day and they had no shelter (we never thought to ask). Look the date up for yourself. The tornado lifted my car partially and placed it gently in a nearby adjacent field (amazingly unscathed). I continued as fast as possible to Mustang fearing the absolute worst. The tornado was heading due East from Union City. The instructor placed the students in front by the plate glass windows with the sirens still going off. They WERE in a windowless room with an exterior concrete wall facing West where the tornado was coming from. Why would a sane person do that? Move them from a safer location and then place them right in front of the plate glass windows to watch for their rides. The owner of Brown's Driving School personally called me two days later. I could tell he was miffed, lol. I wanted a refund. She wasn't going back after that. He pushed back a little and had the audacity to question the way I talked to the instructor (who placed my wife's life in jeopardy) when I got there. By the way, they canceled classes the next day for inclement weather. I think maybe my harsh words to the instructor the day before may have had a good outcome after all. I then voiced MY concerns to Mr. Brown. He literally said to me "I am not building a shelter for 42 students." My response was "Don't you mean 42 souls?" This guy is all about his bottom line. At $400 a student times 42, wow impressive. A couple of classes and he could easily bring in a couple of large above ground shelters. Maybe a local company rents out these above ground shelters? Has he looked into it? He chose to keep that class open on November 3, 2024, knowing it was a tornado outbreak day and even worse, knowing he did not have a shelter. He needed to move things along for that next class don't you know (money). Shame on you Mr. Brown! I am leaving this review now because we are getting ready to enter another severe weather season here in Oklahoma. Now is the right time to do it. So now you know. Brown's Driving School in Mustang, OK, does not have a storm shelter for it's 42 students (souls). This guy could care two cents about your "student". Fantastic experience: Mr Craig was very friendly and know what he's talking about have a lot of knowledge about driving safely thank you for having a very good instructor I will definitely recommend this place to anyone that needs to get their license

Fantastic experience: My son was so nervous and didn't want to go on his first drive but after he got back he was so excited and confident! His driver Tony was so incredible and I am so grateful that he ended up with him. It makes such a difference to have someone who cares and makes you feel comfortable and most importantly that builds your confidence!

Negative experience: Stop teaching your students to ride in blind spots of other vehicles. Try switching lanes and if I sped up, so did your driver, if I slowed down, so did your driver. They almost caused an accident

Fantastic experience: I was very impressed with Browns Driving School in Mustang, OK. Extremely easy to schedule a driving test, and the staff was very helpful answering my questions. My daughter's driver's test was with Craig H. Big thumbs up to Craig! He quickly eased my daughter's nerves with friendly, casual conversation. Super nice guy and thanks to him, my daughter was able to focus on her test and not on her nerves and passed.

Fantastic experience: Our family has used several methods of helping our kids get their driver’s licenses. We never used Browns until it was time for our youngest child to learn. They have been well worth the expense. The office staff is unfailingly kind and helpful, and being able to take the drive test with them immediately following the last driving lesson helps so much.

Fantastic experience: the staff are genuinely some of the most caring and patient people you could ever meet. so much less intimidating than a dmv. my instructor made sure to make me feel comfortable from the start and was incredibly nice. wish i remembered his name

Fantastic experience: Amazing place! Just finished both 5 hour classes last week. Hope to get my permit very soon. The instructors were amazing and very helpful and informative! I have learned a lot of stuff about driving that I didn't know before! Amazing place! Would recommend to any new driver who wants to take classes there! About to have a drive next week on June 15. I can't wait! Note: They do play Red Asphalt V, which is a very graphic 15 or 20 minute film showing fatal car accidents. I didn't mind it, but if you plan to take Drivers Ed here, they do allow you to step out if needed. It is intended to scare you to drive safely to avoid this kind of thing. Otherwise, if you need to, just step out. Just a heads up.

Fantastic experience: I’ve went here many years ago, and looking back it was such a wonderful school. I genuinely miss those days of where I started learning how to drive, and it wasn’t easy at first I’ll admit, but once I practiced more and more, it became easy to where I’ve had no issues with driving now. I really do miss seeing my instructors during the 3 drives and even the people that were there for the 10 hours of class. There may be a chance that I could come back for a motorcycle class if I was interested but not a consideration at the moment. I will miss Browns alot, and I’ve learned alot from them!

Fantastic experience: I did not do schooling, just took my drivers test here. I am normally a really anxious person but they are all so kinda and polite here, I would definitely recommend coming here if you can!

Fantastic experience: Brown's was amazing to work with. Their website does a great job articulating the process and when I had questions, they were always glad to get me answers. We did the basic plan, and the instructors in the classroom and in the cars were fantastic.

Fantastic experience: I have taken Brown's course for the past year, and I recently got my driver's license. Honestly, I really liked this school. I have learned a lot as I was driving with them, and it helped a lot when improving. When it came to my driving test, I was awfully nervous. However, my instructor was very nice and was able to calm down as with someone with test anxiety. I was able to pass the test with minor errors, but overall, the whole experience has been amazing. Definitely recommended for any new drivers out there. :)

Fantastic experience: Super great driving school! The instructors are very nice and are very understanding when people are nervous. They are also very informative and they care about every persons well being instead of only caring about getting paid. They go above and beyond for everyone highly recommend.

The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and supportive throughout the entire process. Additionally, the staff were friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience a pleasure. Negative experience: Do you want your child to driving with the instructor in the passengers seat flipping people off? Well, Brown's Driving School instructors have that covered!

Fantastic experience: I've had 5 kiddos, a niece and recommended several young employees go through Brown's driving school. Mustang is my favorite but have also been to Midwest city location. Today we got to meet Mr Brown himself. Every employee there is absolutely amazing and incredibly helpful. Hands down best driving school around!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this driving school to anyone looking for a great program for drivers education. Brown’s has great instructors- both in the classroom and during the drives! Everyone who works here genuinely cares about all the students and their well-being. The office staff in all 4 locations are top notch as well! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience for our son. He finished the program recently, and is a fantastic driver thanks to all be learned at Brown’s!

Fantastic experience: My daughter took her divers test through Browns. My wife and daughter went on and on about how professional and caring everyone was throught the process. My daughter was extremly nervous and the instructor noticed it right off and gave her a few minutes alone in the car to help calm her down. He made her feel at ease, which really help calm her nerves.

Fantastic experience: I did my driving test at Brown's Driving School, the instructor (Craig Harkey) was very personable and friendly, he helps me calm my nerves and in so doing I was able to pass my driver's test. I am so disappointed I did not sign up with Brown's for the Drivers ED, but I would definitely recommend Brown's in the future. Thank you also to the friendly front desk staff.

Negative experience: Everything is great with the class portion of the package we bought for our son. The issue we are experiencing is trying to sign up for the three drives that we paid for. You are supposed to be able to waive having to go take the written test by completing the three drives. We decided to pay for the $490 dollar package for this convenience, problem is there are no drive times available? I am being told it may be February before we can even get the first one scheduled? We finished the class in mid December. When calling the school I was told there was nothing available for me to schedule - not even in the future - and I could be put on a call list and needed to check the website every day because 'sometimes' drives open up. I understand being short handed these days but really feel this should be communicated to us prior to us signing up and paying for these services. Now I have to decide whether to take off work to take him to get the written test or he will not be able to drive when he turns 16. If I had known this I would not have paid extra for the 'drives' which are advertised 'buy and written test can be waived'. If I have to take off work to take him to test and get his permit - then I can ride with him for practice. Why would I need to pay for training drives?

Fantastic experience: My mom can’t speak English and both the instructor as well as the examiner were extremely nice to her. They let me sit in the back to help my mom when we were doing the practice before her test. My mom were super nervous but she still passed! Thank you Brown!

Negative experience: The classroom portion of the driver's education is great. We've been trying since July to schedule drives without success. There aren't any drives available to schedule online and if there are time slots, it's 10 am during school! We tried calling 2 weeks ago and they said they would put us at the top of their list to call when there were any drives available. We haven't heard from them yet. They don't want people to fit all their drives in hurriedly, but when it's nearly impossible to schedule any and then we have to beg for something before it's too late, then they are the ones scheduling them closer together. I've heard this from several people lately. We tried to be proactive and schedule 3 months in advance, but it looks like we have 3 weeks left to get all our drives in. Good luck.

Fantastic experience: We did parent taught drivers education, bit we took the actual driving test through Brown's!!! They were amazing very efficient and put my daughter at ease. She was a nervous wreck.

Negative experience: I hate it when people lie before making payment and state restrictions after making payments!!!

Fantastic experience: I have used Brown’s for all 4 of my kids! Every staff member I have ever dealt with has taking great care of me and my kids. I will keep on recommending them.

Fantastic experience: Instructors were very good with my daughter. They took time to explain to her what she was doing wrong and even drew out a diagram at one point showing her how to improve. They were extremely nice to her when she was excessively nervous. I think the service is a little bit expensive compared to some newer companies, but, knowing that my daughter felt comfortable with all of the instructors made it ok. I really like the reports that each of the instructors give after the drives.

Fantastic experience: The instructors are good for helping students calm down and not be nervous during testing if you are trying to test for your liscense do it HERE it’s worth the money even for a simple test you can do a run down on what your going to be tested on with an instructor then take the test immediately afterwards it’s worth the $150 those people at the DMV are absolutely useless but here you get quality for your buck I love this place even though I only popped in for a test thank you Browns and keep up the awesome work

Negative experience: For a driving school why did they not close tonight due to weather? Everyone does not live in mustang. Putting ppl lives at risk.

Fantastic experience: Brown's now has my third child for driver's ed, I'm so thankful to have found them. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: They taught my daughter alot. I didn'tike that they said they would pick her up for the drives at one location and then changed it. I had to drive all the way to Mustang for her 3 drives. They have very nice staff and they were very informative while teaching.

Positive experience: I paid for the service, and I know it is non-refundable. If I choose to throw away the services along with my money, then that is my choice as the payee. Mr Brown says he doesn't care and the student gets to continue no matter what because that is the law. He then can not cite the law they are following to me. No where on his website does it state that you are gifting the driver's ed courses to your child so you do not have 100% control of the product you purchased. Mr Brown says that I have no rights as a parent!!!!! So if your child runs away and is eighteen, then you lost all control of the product you purchased. That being said, they do have good instructors.

Negative experience: The instructor barely went over the bare minimum of the book. They make you watch absolutely disgusting videos of crumpled dead kids and don’t let you leave. You pay 370 per person for the “basic” package, yet you have to pay 5$ if you want pizza. If you leave a negative review, they’ll call you and harass you about it, then refund you so they can take your review down because you aren’t a “verified buyer.” Super shady practices from a super shady place. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone

Fantastic experience: Craig and Paula are Awesome!! I can't say enough about how sweet they both are. Craig made my kids feel super comfortable while taking their test and he was so helpful to them with things they missed. Paula was awesome with scheduling us and they both worked with us so my kids and I had a great experience!!

Fantastic experience: Thank you Dwayne Brown and the Mustang office staff for your exceptional service!! A test drive was cancelled due to inclement weather but was promptly rescheduled and time was taken to make it as convenient for me as possible. Thank you again, Browns, for being so considerate and accommodating.

Fantastic experience: My granddaughter took the class and the 6hr driving classes, she was a very new driver. We had an issue but Duane took care of it immediately and made it all good. Happy to say she passed her driving test the very first time. Thank you Browns Driving School

Fantastic experience: I want thank Browns Driving School! I have paid for 3 of my grandkids to go to Browns & its absolutely worth every penny! They make it so easy for the kids to get the class time they need & to get their driving permit. My grandkids were confident & had great driving skills after they finished the Mustang program. They all passed their written & driving tests on the first time! They really liked their instructors & had fun during their driving times. Browns make it so easy to schedule & do the driving classes & we are so grateful! Great job Browns instructors & the very nice lady who got us set up with each grandkid in the Mustang office! Fantastic experience: My son didn't want to drive which apparently isn't unusual these days. But after going to Brown's (no relation) he came away confident and ready to hit the road. Loved how they picked him up and returned him to our house and also that we didn't have to go to the DMV for the driving test. All testing was done by Brown's and as soon as he passed we were able to go right next door to the tag agency to get his license.
