West Georgia Technical College - Carroll Campus: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Very nice facility, staff was courteous and friendly.
Fantastic experience: Love this collage !!
Negative experience: COMPLETLY AND UTTERLY A HUGE FAILURE. they have taken 4 years to offer a 2 year degree in cyber security and DO EVEN NOT OFFER all of the classes that you need to graduate on time. so its takes about 4 years to get a 2 year degree with these people. The teachers do the best they can but not all are good professors. PLEASE try some where else and only use this college to FINISH A DEGREE THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY ALMOST COMPLETED.
Negative experience: Very disappointed, my child is enrolled at the college, has to drive over an hour to go to the school because the only automotive class is in Douglasville. The students in the current automotive class has no classes set up for the next semester in which the deadline to register is already past. The students in the class reached out to the instructor as well as the Dean and still have no answers. The current class will be left hanging as the school has registration for the new class just starting in Automotive. Why would you not have the current instructor to teach and finish up the current students? Instead they are all left with no classes and no answers. This is coming from a concerned parent that you require my information to enroll my child in school. Won't let the student enroll without my information. I feel this needs some immediate action!!!! These students are working hard to attend your school and now what will they do? They can't finish their ASE certifications and it seems the school does not care of the students future or even the next step to complete what they have already started. Please help these students get a class West Georgia Technical College. Signed, a very concerned parent!!!!!!!~! Update the school did finally get the students an instructor thank goodness but we shouldn’t have had to worry with this! Updated to say they did get an instructor for this far after registration but thankfully they can finish their school.
Negative experience: I got put out on the street with no where to go but to sleep in my car and the teacher just said the two weeks that you miss on that semester you can’t make up the missed work and is still proceeding to fail me to the point it make you not even want to learn anymore and they don’t offer any dorms so it’s not like you can get a dorm you know it gets to a point where it’s like why even try to better yourself anymore
Fantastic experience: The CDL night class did it again! 100% pass rate! Great Job everyone! So proud of the group we had! They worked hard, studied and made it to the finish line with Class A CDL's! Great Job everyone! : ) Best of luck to all of you!
Positive experience: Staff members to assist are available. I didn't care for the financial aid staff attitude before leaving out after my final questions seemed a little defensive when there wasn't any reason to be. Okay, service from Advising and Student Affairs.
Fantastic experience: My experience with selecting West Ga Technical college in getting a CDL was awesome!! I would highly recommend this school to anyone who is seeking out other opportunities for a CDL to pursue a different career path in life, the classroom environment, Joe and Ron are very good teachers and meeting new people was great, made some good friends and hated to see it come to an end. the instructors were so helpful, Adam is a very patient person, I've never seen someone with as much patients than Adam, and very knowledgeable, and is a very good instructor, when Adam see's you struggling or the other instructors Eddie and James they will come and help you and show you what you're doing wrong and help correct it, having Adam as an instructor when getting behind the wheel of semi for the first time was awesome, he will help you and teach you and make sure you are doing things safely and paying attention to things around you, long as you listen and pay attention, you will have no issues passing the class, and team work helps, so don't be afraid to ask for help and you will pass this class, I'm so glad I choose this collage and thanks for the experience and I'm looking forward to my new career path
Negative experience: New campus, same b.s. they only care about Southwire students. It might as well be the Southwire school. No books for beginning PLC, only one instructor knows AB PLC's. Waste of time and money. Make the drive to Chattahoochee Tech, I wish that I had. I paid $236.00 for a textbook on the advice of one of the teachers, that I haven't used it, there's nothing listed in the syllabus about where it fits in.
Fantastic experience: Going back to school for a business degree
Fantastic experience: Hey, I Enjoyed My Experience Here For Commercial Truck Driving. Not only Because I Passed And Got My License, But that The Class Is Set Up to where you have to Work hard to see the results you want, And Thats exactly What I Did, Adam And His Teaching Methods are On Tact, eddie Has a Calm demeanor And Is a Good Teacher, Even James (Though He is Very Strict Has A Great Drive And Firm Approach, for safety!!!!) he Is a Great Teacher, All the Teachers are Different and Have Different Traits, Its up to you the student To Get the results you desire, But also, i saw nothing unfair, I feel like it would be cool to have had More time, But it was Honestly Plenty of time to Do everything you need to learn and pass the class. I Did Night class, And The One sad thing is the range closed around 9:00 for the first few weeks, But We later left at 9:45 because the Gate closes, So if you go Find out what time will work best for you, I also received A Full scholarship with grants, And A Surplus of 31$. Which i think is standard for all students A Few days Some of the trucks had some mechanical malfunctions, But the Instructors showed great care in trying to fix the Trucks The day of, but Only took a short two days to get them back up and Running. Class Enviornment Was Nice and The Classrooms clean, The Information teachers gave to students was informative and Easy to understand. The Safety Rules were followed.
Fantastic experience: Had an incredible experience taking the CDL-A night class. The instructors (Adam, Eddie, and James) were top notch. They put a lot of time and attention in with each student and if you listen to them, you walk out of there with a class A-CDL knowing you will always have a job. Absolutely life changing experience. And can’t thank this group of instructors enough. I will miss just hanging out with the class and the instructors, they make it a very fun experience.
Fantastic experience: Plans to move back
Fantastic experience: I love attending West Georgia Technical College ❤️
Fantastic experience: My experience was great Adam and Eddie were great Adam really make the course fun he’s very funny 8 weeks go bye quick didn’t want it to end it was like being with family
Fantastic experience: I got my G.E.D here, The teachers were awesome. I never felt dumb or stupid for not knowing certain things. and I'm now going to college here. I've never thought that I'd get to go to college but WGTC made that possible. So I rate 5 Stars.
Fantastic experience: Passed my CDL State Final right before the Holidays & what a phenomenal way to kick start a New Year (Blessed) I couldn’t have asked for a better group of instructors. My instructor Adam stayed on me consistently because he seen a light in me that I didn’t initially see in myself (being the only female in class), but that didn’t stop me & that’s absolutely what led me to the finish line of success (completion) at its finest because I was determined to never give up! Thank you 1000% CDL instructors. If you put in the work and effort the instructors won’t led you wrong. Listen, show up everyday, pay attention to EVERYTHING they say & do you’ll get the results too. I didn’t know the truck in the beginning at all, but now I can confidently say I do!!! Carrollton, GA.
Fantastic experience: West Georgia CDL Program the BEST!!! ADAM,JOE,MR.ROOKS,EDDIE, BW. The best instructors by far they give you all the tools you need to be successful in your next step of Greatness... these guys put there life on the line every single day .turning non cdl students into Road Warriors, On the road every single day of class. This is a hands on task it's incredible. How you have instructors no matter what type of weather it is, no matter how you feel, They always care & will literally be by your side outside on the range RAIN,SHINE,SNOW ...You will never have a teacher like the one in this CDL Program. WANT A BETTER LIFE JUST APPLY TO THIS PROGRAM. You will NOT be Disappointed !!!
Positive experience: The sink bowels to wash your hair. Water was going in the floor. On 85% of them in the classrooms as well. There was a wet spot. On the ceiling tile as you come out of the elevator. The staff members are fantastic!! The students are great! The salon looks great! Much wider n open feel to it! I hope they get there water issue fixed soon! Before some one falls! Or gets hurt!
Fantastic experience: New Carrollton campus is lovely. Staff I've worked with very helpful.
Positive experience: This was my first time on the campus I usually attend the Douglasville campus but they didn't have the class I need in the evening this semester. This campus is a hour and 7 minutes away its very dark in the area and the campus it's well lit considering they're across from a jail house.
Fantastic experience: I just completed the CDL-A course (night class)! The instructors were OUTSTANDING! Adam, Ron and Eddie, we’re so attentive, they worked really hard at giving us ALL the information on being a great driver! It wasn’t just about the maneuvers on the course, but, what to expect on the road. They truly cared about us and if we were struggling with anything they worked with us to help us get it right and feel confident about the execution! If you are considering this class, I fully recommend it!
Fantastic experience: The night CDL class was great Adam and Eddie did a great job.Good teachers,Positive environment, Great combination of class and hands on training. I was able to drive and learn many new things
Fantastic experience: Great school very clean and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience: Great teacher!
Fantastic experience: Currently a transient student due to the university not having a variety of professors over there for certain courses. If I didn’t want a 4 year degree, I would definitely come here. The staff are so nice, they’re super involved, and super quick at responding to your emails. If anyone is taking A&P, take Professor Hatch! She’s amazing and explains everything thoroughly!
Positive experience: It's going to be a great campus
Fantastic experience: The campus is clean and well kept.
Fantastic experience: Very involved faculty. Still offering one day per week classes, with 3 different types of classes planned for Fall: 2 days per week, or 1 day per week with one day online (hybrid), or totally online. Students get great choices! Looking forward also to the NEW Carroll campus, on the bypass just past Tabernacle church.
Fantastic experience: Its a great place to learn if you don't want to go to an expensive university. Very nice community here and classes you'll find enjoying.
Fantastic experience: I attended the CDL program at this school, and when I tell you the instructor's are the best- i really mean it! The tips that they gave me helped me out so much. Before attending this school I had no clue on how to drive a manual. I'm not sure if I can mention the instructors by name, but each one of them have a unique way of training. I took all of their tips & made them my own. Needless to say, I got my CDL's! With the mercy & help of God ( thank you Jesus) and these guys i could not have done it. I had days where I cried, days were i didnt think i could do it, I even told one instructor to let me out of the truck! Then I had some really good days! Those were the days that I can hear the instructor say when the wheel starts rolling turn the wheel! when straight backing let the truck disappear and reappear! when you see the cones make it disappear and when you don't see it no more make it reappear! stuff like that. I recommend the school for anyone trying to get there CDL'S and it's all because of the wonderful instructors. O & the trucks are trash. They really need to upgrade them, get those beds out the back, and replace them with proper seating. On the other hand, if you can learn to drive those trucks then you Gucci!
Fantastic experience: My daughter took the CDL classes and had five job offers within two weeks of graduating. Oh, and those whiney "bad teacher" reviews are from inexperienced people that don't know that college is *EXACTLY* about teaching yourself the material. If you don't "get it" during class- either set an appointment to meet with the teacher after class, or get a tutor. Grow up, shut up, and stop distracting the other students by interrupting your teacher's lecture.
Negative experience: Do not send your kid to this school. they only care about their profit, teachers are inconsiderate and unorganized.
Negative experience: Horrible ! I graduated from WGTC Douglas campus last year and coming here was such a downgrade ! I only came to take a few more classes before I transfer to a university. The teachers are horrible here and this location itself is just unorganized. Smh I literally only had 1 good teacher this whole semester. They put a teacher in the system 7 days before classes started and he didn’t know how to use anything!! He didn’t know how to work blackboard at all so no messages were getting answered and nobody knew their grades on assignments till LAST MINUTE! classes ended a week ago and nothing was up to date until this week. I don’t fault him I fault the school! Smh they should’ve trained him in that 7 day time period! It was a mess! Some teachers just teach straight from PowerPoints reading the whole slide to the class. Not really answering questions. A teacher I had this semester will call on me to answer questions then go right to the next person to give the answer. Gives you NO time to think, look it up or answer the question. JUST RUDE !!!! He’ll ask questions that have nothing to do with the class (like college football) and get mad when you do not know the answer. The communication with this school is horrible as well. I’ve been locked out of my student email since the beginning of fall semester and I put in about 3-5 tickets to get my password changed on my email and nobody has replied to anything. When I asked who Can I personally contact the school says they have no clue. It’s no way to contact them. I would not recommend taking classes here at all. I’m so over this location and don’t even want to be on the campus. So I’m taking online classes in the spring. The stuff I experienced this semester, I have neverrrr encountered in my years of attending a WGTC. However Stacey, at the front desk when you enter the school is really nice and pleasant. She always says good morning, good afternoon or goodbye. The lady that works in finically aid is wonderful too, very nice and helpful!
Negative experience: Awful! No communication! Wast of money! Teachers don’t teach
Positive experience: Love it!
Negative experience: If I can give it no stars I would. The communication with this school is the worse I ever experienced. No one is able to tell me the name or email of instructors so that I can contact them for course material information. School directory may or may not have their email and if they do, it is an email that does not work because you email kicks back as failed delivery. Now I have to drop a class because we are two weeks away and I am sure that no one will contact me or help me.
Negative experience: I am in my sophomore year here. Trying to get ahold of financial aid is near impossible and trying to come speak to financial aid in person requires a minimum of a 30 minute wait because pretty much everyone has issues with financial aid. There is a 2 week period between registration and payment deadlines, so good luck making sure everything is squared away with them, even if you file your FAFSA 3 months ahead of time (which I did.) everyone who works here is pretty friendly, but overall a bad experience if you're just trying to get financial aid taken care of.
Positive experience: Very nice
Positive experience: Professors are really good, solid technical school all around
Positive experience: A great staff!! I had an awesome learning experience here.
