Fantastic experience: I have had 3 excellent experiences with teens learning to drive with the help of Tom's. They are super organized and helpful.

Negative experience: Not a fan that this place uses the transit center parking lot. There are people who live and own the cars that you use to teach drivers parrel parking living just there. Who maybe don't want a car circling all day polluting the air or shining lights into our windows

Fantastic experience: Our son really enjoyed his experience with Tom's Driving Academy! They were so prompt with scheduling His instructor was Kurt and we were so impressed! We will definitely use Toms again and be asking for Kurt when our daughter turn 15 in the fall!

As a first time driver, I needed an instructor who was patient, calm and at the same time, point out the mistakes made. Steve is all that and more! Amber was also of highest excellence in helping my son prepare for and pass with flying colors his ODOT-approved drive test his first try. He now has his Real ID with Class C privileges on its way through USPS.

Cathy was so helpful in making the schedule to fit my timing and the instructor came to my work place for driving lessons. Lynn was my driving instructor. she is such a nice lady. She instructed me everything about driving and made me practice for my drive test. the techniques she taught me for pull over to the curb , backing up and using the side mirrors while parking were so helpful and made me confident during my driving test. Fantastic experience: My driver teacher Shawn was extremely helpful, and calm. He brought great energy to the experience and helped me build my confidence as a driver. Recommended TDA for adult drivers wants to get their license.

Negative experience: haven’t personally used but have sat in on my friends classes & have heard her tell me what goes on in the classes.. It’s a huge waste of time and money unless you want a “driving” class with a bunch of fake scenarios & a woman who thinks having a strong, biased opinion is teaching. You learn more from the DMV handbooks. Even the responses to the specific instructor are blunt & unprofessional. as someone who used to manage, you should learn to take the constructive criticism instead of getting offended.

Fantastic experience: I had private driving lessons with Julia in 2019. I used to have awful driving anxiety, she really really helped. I passed my driving test shortly after my last lesson (I bought 4). Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had three 2 hour private driving lessons with Shawn and they were great! Gave great insight on what to expect for the driving test and what they will be looking for. I'm an adult with little driving experience and these lessons were great. Other reviews have noted issues with scheduling but I had none! The lady on the phone was nice and professional, and Shawn was always on time. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to prepare for the driving test, even if its one lesson.

Fantastic experience: Reached out to TDA as my Oregon license had expired for more than a year and I had to go through the whole process to get my license re-instated. Cathy and Loree went out of the way to advice and help take my drive test successfully.

Fantastic experience: I did a course with Shawn, he was an excellent instructor. The classes were well thought out and structured very well. Progress was made very quickly but at a pace that I was comfortable with. Cathy, who I talked to to get the classes scheduled was also very friendly and gave me some good advice for getting my drive test scheduled (not with TDA). I strongly recommend Toms Driving Academy.

Fantastic experience: I will definitely recommend Tom’s driving Academy, I needed a refresher and they came through for me. My Instructor Winona is a calm, nice, and reliable person. The office is also really good at getting back to you once you leave a message. Cathy is a lovable person and very willing to accommodate your schedule.

Negative experience: I found Loree to be rude, defensive, and unprofessional. When my daughter wanted out after the first classroom experience with Loree, I was ignored for weeks and then--when I insisted on a response--she talked down to me and tried to shift the blame to us. This was definitely not a good experience. Don't pay to be belittled.

Fantastic experience: Haven't actually utilized their services, but Kathy was very helpful over the phone.

Negative experience: I just had a Tom’s Driving Academy vehicle following me way too closely, get over with no turn signal and then get in front of me with no turn signal. For a driving academy who is supposed to teach drivers the laws of the road, they’re not doing a very good job following them.

Negative experience: They don't return phone call!!! How are they still in business. "Please sign up through the office, online sign ups are not accepted" or "Don't wait any longer to sign up for driving classes you need- contact today?" Which one is it

Negative experience: We did not make it past sign ups for driving instruction. They force 20 families to fight over pre-determined, unpublished, immovable blocks of four mandatory drive sessions. This free-for-all format stinks, but the total lack of creativity and willingness to change the broken system to one of fairness and customer care is unacceptable.

Negative experience: Can’t say much for their driving courses as I’ve never been a student. However a representative of their company parked in front of my driveway and I can’t say I’m impressed.

Fantastic experience: They were great ! The private driving lessons that I received from them greatly helped me with my driving skills and confidence.Nice and accommodating people.They helped me through out the process of achieving my license.They were always very patient and understanding.

Positive experience: All I did was call them so I gave them their average rating not to be misleading. At present they do not offer the third party drive test for non-teenagers though maybe they will in the future.

Fantastic experience: I took a series of lessons from Tom's Driving Academy in the fall. I'm an adult learning to drive for the first time. The instruction I received was brilliant! My instructor was always extremely punctual for our lessons. She was also personable and gave calm and assertive instruction. Learning to drive later in life, I was really keen to develop skills to be a confident and defensive driver. I didn't want to be nervous behind the wheel. The instruction I received got me there and I am now a driver! I would recommend Tom's Driving Academy to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I had such a wonderful experience during my private driving lessons. I was on a tight timeline as I needed to get my license to start a new job, and they were able to schedule me in immediately. The six hours of driving gave me the experience and confidence I needed in order to pass the test on my first go. Loree and Jeremy were both great, and I highly recommend both.

Positive experience: If it was just about the lessons themselves, I would have given 5 stars. Wade was a very effective teacher. He did a great job at helping me feel at ease, increasing my confidence by leaps and bounds and helping me hone a ton of essential skills. So 5 stars for Wade! The reason I'm giving it 4 is that it was tricky to schedule lessons-- I got no response to 2 emails and I had to call twice before I was able to speak to someone. Once I did manage to speak to someone, they were very helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: We went through the entire course with my youngest child this summer and it was a wonderful experience. It was worth every penny spent. Very complete course with book work, video, and practice time. I can't highly recommend Tom's Driving Academy enough. Our experience was nothing but positive. I do feel like I should mention that my kid gave 100% and because she did she got so much more out of the material and practice drives than that. (If your child doesn't do the work then it's on the kid, not the course.) Everyone there was very helpful at every step of the way. (I wish we had known about Tom's with my older child!) Thank you everyone at Tom's!

Negative experience: Absolute worst customer service you could imagine! When my daughter had to sign up for the driving portion of the class she picked a set of Saturdays that worked for us. Then, 2 weeks later, Loree left an incomplete message: "about the session that needs to be rescheduled. We might be able to do the original time " We had no idea what she was talking about, but even after 4 phone calls we couldn't get anyone who knew what we were talking about and Loree can't be bothered to return calls. Then someone else called me to schedule a session and got mad that I couldnt look at my calendar WHILE I WAS DRIVING so she hung up on me. Now it has been 3 weeks since my daughter completed the class and we still can't get her certificate to take to the DMV. No one returns calls and they are very inconvenienced by requests, using the fact that they are overbooked as an excuse for rudeness. Do not go there if you expect courtesy and professionalism.

Fantastic experience: I had a very nice lady for my driving test. It was very good feed back at the end of my test and I highly recommend this place!!

Fantastic experience: We have seen the reviews, the night before our tests. We almost canceled, but decided to go for it, knowing we drive well. When we, my wife and I, came in, we were greeted with smiles from the lady who tested us later on. The test was smooth, professional with constructive feedback in the end. We did pass, but that was not the factor for writing the review. The factor was to correct the wordings around the other reviews. We recommend this place for DMV driving test.

Negative experience: If I could give no stars, I would! My son had a great driving instruction that he connected with and did fine in the classroom setting. Receiving your certificate in a timely manner is another story. If they answered the phone, they would tell you that it was in the mail and had been mailed. When I finally spoke to the owner, she was rude and full of excuses and lies. I am not the only one in this class that had this experience and would not recommend this driving academy. There are others in the area that have better reviews. Wish I would have checked before.

Negative experience: I wish I could give them a zero I would. The owner is a grumpy lady and mad at the world fact you can't even talk with her. They never answer their phone calls and really hard to get a hold of. Two weeks after the class ended our son was waiting for his on certificate. I called them 4 times and never got a return phone call then when I went in the owner was grumpy said that the she email us 3 times, which we never got. Then after my wife paid she said she would mail it right away. A week and a half later we called and called about 5 or 6 times and no one called us back. We started thinking of this place might be a scam or something finally called us back and told us to come pick it up .they never apologized and didn't seem to care that the kid was waiting at the mailbox everyday for his certificate. Google Driving Academy there are different ones with better reviews

Negative experience: I do NOT recommend this business! Unless you are requesting to sign up for classes, they do not communicate with you. They would not respond to my emails or return my telephone calls. The lack of customer service is truly overwhelming. My friend got so angry that they would not return her telephone call to answer her questions about the program, that she cancelled her daughters enrollment. Both of my children took the classroom sessions together but could not get the textbook to do the required homework until the second to the last class. Finally, it took me over a month to get my son's certificate for insurance and then it wasn't even signed! Go somewhere else!

Negative experience: They never return your calls!

Negative experience: Like other raters, we had a bad experince and they were using unsafe vehicles that smelled of gasoline (just keep the windows down, they said). Also mislead about the short class qualifying for driving credit. They also screwed up their materials by photocopying just one side of a two sided packet. All in all, they seem to be running a clown car driving school.

Negative experience: Beware that the "Classroom & Private Driving Lessons" are NOT "DMV Certified and ODOT Approved". This was not made clear to me either on the website or on the phone when I signed up my daughter. This has turned out to be a waste of time and money.

Fantastic experience: Helped my aspie son get his license. Super friendly and easy going. Just what a kid with social anxiety asked for! Success!!

Fantastic experience: Went there for the DMV driving test. My instructor was Loree. Her instructions were clear, and the paperwork didn't take long at all. Plus they're open on a Saturday which means I didn't have to take a day off work. Recommended!

Negative experience: I am very disappointed that it has taken so long to get the final documentation to take to the DMV to get my son's actual drivers license. He passed the driving test in ealry November and the classroom instruction concluded 11/23/14 and we still don't have the necessary paperwork to get his driver's license. Needless to say, my son is very unhappy, as he thought he would have his license weeks ago. There has been no communication about why it is taking so long, which is adding to the disappointment.

Fantastic experience: Went there for DMV diving test. Had a good experience.

Positive experience: I have now sent 2 children through Tom's Driving school. The kids loved the driving instructors, the price was reasonable compared to other schools, and both kids are exceptional drivers. Yes, the classroom instruction was a little dry and boring, but seriously, I don't think you can do much about that! My only minor complaint is the amount of time it takes for phone calls and/or emails to be returned isn't acceptable.

Positive experience: We have sent two boys through the program. The curriculum uses very old supporting media in the classroom. Delivery is dry but thorough. My high school boys felt like they were talked down to during classroom instruction. Poor administrative support. The set-up for arranging in-car driving lessons is left up to non-classroom instructors and is poorly managed. Overall communication needs improvement, both on the phones and with their contract employees. I would look around at other options.
