St Mina Driving School

Positive experience: I had two sessions with this guy, and they were amazing—I’m not gonna lie. I learned a lot in just those two sessions. I drove back in high school, and besides that, I only took a couple of refresher courses that cost about $50 each. I’ve tried rebooking multiple times, but he hasn’t been responding to my calls. I was told he had a little incident, so I called to check in, both out of concern and to see if he was up for driving sessions. I hope everything is okay with him, but I’m not the type to blow up someone’s phone. I’ve seen so many great reviews, and from my own experience, I can see why. But I recommend him

Negative experience: If I could give this driving school 0 stars then I would! So unprofessional! As it was my first time driving, I had came here for the first and last time. The guy is so unprofessional and uses his phone while instructing and is truly impatient. If you do even one little mistake, he yells and expects first time drivers to know everything about driving. He’s so disrespectful and his service sucks. He’s also a liar and doesn’t listen to simple questions about driving. As I walked into the car, I felt disgusted by the dirty car that it was untidy and smelled the entire time he was instructing me to drive. There were also roaches. Do yourself a favor and go to other driving schools that’s not the place to go and save your money!!

Negative experience: I scheduled a lesson for my daughter and what I was told from my daughter really left me feeling upset. The instructor had a really bad attitude from the moment he picked up my daughter. He was very unprofessional & I am so extremely disappointed & dissatisfied with the lesson my daughter received today. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Fantastic experience: This is by far the best driving school ever. I never thought I would get my license but they are very patient and helpful and not to mention affordable. The cheapest you will find in New Jersey

Fantastic experience: Magdy is a great person, sometimes hard to communicate but after spending 8 hours with him can attest how good of a person & driver instructor he is and genuinely doing this for helping people vs making money. He is also charging less than competition

Fantastic experience: I learned how to drive and passed my driving exam a few months ago with this instructor so I am very greatful. It was very affordable so I had a lesson every week leading up to the exam. I will say at first I was a bit terrified because I'm a quiet girl and he can come off as upset but after some time I learned to get used to it. I didn't let it bother my learning experience because I was still learning and the instructor taught me a lot. I would recommend this school to first time learners, just be wary of the upset sounding tone in his voice!

Negative experience: While this driving school is cheap, ($50/hr) I do not recommend it to anyone. As I was driving, the instructor did not pay attention… instead, he was on his phone the entire time trying to book more appointments for the day and didn’t really give me the help I was looking for. I already have my license but wanted help with making tighter turns and staying centered but, rather than receiving assistance with that, Magdy let me do my own thing and I basically wasted $50 to drive a barely functioning car. If you are looking to build upon your road skills and practice safe driving, this is not the place for you.

Fantastic experience: I learned driving from Magdy. He has been very patience and very good instructor. He made adjustments according to my road test. I passed it in my first attempt. I highly recommend this driving school and Magdy.

Negative experience: I would give zero stars if I had the option. They don't know what they are doing. My son has been calling for two months to schedule to take him to his road test; Mina the man that answers the phone kept telling him it's too early call back. He told him three times. Now my son called this weekend; mind you his test is on the 17th and now says they are booked. I asked to speak to his manager but he didn't want to hear me out and hung up and then stopped taking my call. Very unprofessional. Will never use them again or let anyone close to me use them.

Negative experience: Never showed up for my road test even though I called in advance and kept calling him that he would confirm to pick me up at 1pm for my 2pm road test at newark. Never showed. Never taking this school again

Negative experience: Two of my friends took sessions with this driving school and said that I should do it because they had a good experience. Today was supposed to be my first session but it did not go well. My session was at 10 AM and he was 50 minutes late when my session ends at 11. I asked my friend if the latest he’s been and I was told 20 minutes. I gave the instructor the benefit of the doubt and I was called at 10:20 and told that he would be 15-20 minutes late. I accepted that and when he arrived he was no where in sight. I understand if the GPS did not give him the exact spot to meet me but he was no where in sight and I was told to try to look for him. I apologized for wasting his time and he said it was alright and that he was already here (at 10:55 AM). I offered to reschedule but he declined because he was already in the area, to which I understand but who would want to pay $50 for a 5 minute driving lesson when he most likely has another session at 11 since I was told he gets booked easily. When I offered to reschedule a second time he started to get upset and yell at me on the phone which led to me hanging up. Finally at 10:58 I see the car right outside my house which would be no point since it would be 2 minutes. Although he has the end goal to help first-time drivers, it was not the best first impression.

Fantastic experience: Magdy is very experienced and technically perfect teacher. Thanks a lot to him for accommodating me at a very last moment. I passed the test because of his teachings and help. Least charges, more and productive learning time. Thanks..!!

Fantastic experience: I passed my road test today to the Saint Mina driving school but I would thank all my success to my instructor Magdy.He is the great instructor.He gave me lots of tips on what to do and is very calm and patient.It was pleaser learning how to drive with him by my side.He is really professional using very good techniques and he got a lot of patient you,how to become good and responsible driver.If anyone looking for great instructor I highly recommend Magdy.You really won't go wrong choosing him as your driving instructor.Thank you Magdy!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: When I told him I had a driving test and did not have a ride he went out of his way to not only make sure that I arrived at my test but I learned some helpful pointers along the way. He is a man that truly cares for each and every one of his customers and wants to help you pass at a very affordable cost. Id recommend him over any of the other driving schools in New Jersey.

Negative experience: A trainer taught a student to overtake my car from right just because I was waiting for a pedestrian to cross, and broke a red signal. I wish well to their students.

Negative experience: Magdi takes calls and makes schedules while you're practicing. He rushes you when he is late and has other appointments, even though it's not your fault at all. His accent makes him difficult to understand and he gets impatient. He also packs multiple examinees when taking the test. I would much rather pay 10 dollars more for a more invested instructor.

Fantastic experience: I passed my road test today, extremely thankful to Magdy! After spending time with him on driving for three months, I would strongly recommend him if you try to find a driving school teacher! From below points, you can derive a more complete picture of him. 1. He has a lot of experience on road, and also the road test. No matter whether it is in our daily training or in our mock exam session, he taught me a lot of tricks, such as the “smart” parallel parking trick, this is extremely helpful in my real test. 2. Very patient person. I have a lot of questions when I’m on the road, such as what the sign means, when to turn, when to switch lane; I’m like the hell full of endless questions, he has patience for every one, and never ignore any of them. I feel so lucky that I found him to be my teacher. 3. Profession. Usually I book two hour session with him, and he would utilize this golden time to its most. Sometimes he is late as he is rushing from last session to mine, but he always makes it to a full two hour session with me. And he confirms with me every time before he picks me up at my address, usually one hour before, or a day before. Especially when it is an early morning session, he confirms with me first before he is on the road. Very nice person indeed! Fantastic experience: I had two separate sessions with Magdy, one teaching me how to parallel park and k-turn and the other was on the day of the road test just giving me a run down of what I needed to do to pass. In the first session, the first thing he asked me once he got settled was what I wanted to learn and once I answered, we got straight down to business. He was prepared, good at communicating, and made me feel more confident on the road once I actually understood how to park and k-turn. That second session was truly the only way I passed my road test and he’s genuinely a good guy with 35+ years of experience in teaching how to properly drive, you won’t regret learning with Magdy. I referred him to friends and two have already booked appointments with him. He’s quite charming and makes for a great experience as a new driver.

Fantastic experience: ALL you need to KNOW: It was a pleasure taking lessons and eventually the driving test (which i passed) with Magdy. He makes sure you understand how the test will function and what EXACTLY you need to do to pass. Tips include: 1. How the testing centers are structured and what course you'll take especially for Newark Testing center. 2. How testers test you on intersections 3. Which lanes you need to be on while turning and driving through the test 4. Changing lanes correctly with indicators during test 5. Correct hand positions 6. Correct mirror angles for parallel parking 7. Correct hand position for backing the car in a straight line 8. Stop signs and how instructors judge when there is a pedestrian lane right after the stop sign The prices are competitive and he will take you to the driving test as well. In certain situations even though your test is scheduled for a later time in the day, he knows people at the testing center and can push it to earlier in the day. 5/5 star for him.

Fantastic experience: I thought pricing was great at $40 per hour. After a few classes I passed my road test with ease. I can see why some complain about communication, but it's really just a slight language barrier. We were able to communicate with ease once I established that. Only real issue is the vehicle, it is an older car.. However after practicing with that one I feel that driving with a modern car is much easier.

Negative experience: Poor communication, the instructor had very bad attitude, very old car with a bad smell, my wife had the worse experience, I don’t recommend this school.

Negative experience: Made an appointment for 4pm. Called at 4:06 he tells me he's doing a roast test to move it to 5pm where I'm unavailable. Unprofessional. Nobody even bothered to follow up with me to reschedule in the morning. Instead he just waste time and tells you when you call him. Horrible customer service. Dave your money and go somewhere else

Negative experience: I practiced with Magdy only because I needed to learn how to parallel park. I knew how to drive and everything, parking was all I needed, he thought me a method of parking that I never heard anyone do before, but hey I understood it and got it to work to perfection. the day of my test I was super ready, and I knew I had the necessary skills to pass, when we get there it is freezing cold and all Magdy was worrying about was getting back before 12 for his other appointment. Long story short, because of this I dint get a good look at the test courser and failed because I was lost, and all that negativity and him rushing just made me more anxious and nervous. took the test with another school, two weeks later passed in under 3 minutes. Would not recommend. 0/10

Fantastic experience: I made several mistakes of calling the owner of this driving school Mina but his name is Magdy. Magdy is the most sweetest, patient, friendly, talkative and excellent driving instructor. He’s soo friendly and patient and I salute him for this!!! Just engage in a conversation with him. But his driving technique is amazing too. In simple words schedule for St Mina. P.s He does have an accent so be patient with him!

Negative experience: I’ve never in my life been in contact with more of an unprofessional person than this guy who runs this place. I had made my permit appointment a month before said day and then he calls me a couple days before my appointment to reschedule because he has other people to tend to. Firstly, not my fault if I scheduled and let him know a month before. Second, come the day of my test I’m waiting for him to come and take me, mind you he did not call me ahead of time to make sure we were leaving at a certain time, and it’s about half an hour before my test he’s still not here and not answering any of my calls. He answers after the 10th call and says he’s not around. Worst experience of my life. I had to pick up the pieces myself. This man is very unprofessional and disgusting in what he calls a “business”

Fantastic experience: From the moment of sitting in the drivers seat this man made me feel confident. He called out and corrected my mistakes from the inception. I forgot all fears I had of driving on the highway and didnt realize I was on there. Was so relaxed.Very gentle, patient and knowledgeable man, his classes are worth every buck. His focus is on his student making sure they learn the proper way to drive. #1 driving instructor in JC.

Fantastic experience: Was skepticle at first but as I got to know Madgy more I found out he has the traits of a great driving instructor. His teaching style is straightforward and easy to understand. If you are scared of driving he will make you feel like everything is going to be ok. Madgy is a gentle and soft spoken man who knows what he's doing. You'll for sure pass the road test if you trust his process.

Fantastic experience: 5 stars still don’t do justice to and his teaching style! He is literally the best teacher you can trust with teaching you driving. I have been to many schools in India to learn and one here before as well with no success but in one class with Magdy, I could drive! The way he teaches you parallel parking, real life road driving and makes you feel accountable and comfortable at the wheel is extraordinary! In addition to being one of the best teachers I have come across, he also is a great human being! Amazing to talk to, extremely professional, patient and gives you customized lessons based on what you are lacking in. Do yourself a favor and if you want to learn how to drive, just call Magdy! :D

Fantastic experience: Magdy is not only a very responsible, patient, lovely teacher, but also a really really kind person. I think you can trust him even in a very bad situation, and he will not let you down. I had my driver license but not driving for a long time, so I searched online and read reviews and finally made appointment with Magdy. Today is my third practice, I drove on the way, and one of the tires break (I know the road is really bad and this car has been driven by many beginners). Magdy didn't complain a little and he didn't charge me anything after I wanted to pay for my driving time. He even said he was sorry to cost my time. I feel he is so warm-hearted. He said he wants to help others rather than other schools wants to make money from people. I highly recommend Magdy if you can see this review.

Negative experience: This guy Magdy is a cheat. I had a driving test scheduled at Lodi and I had waited for 3 months to get this slot. On the day of the driving test, this guy confirmed that he would come to pick me up at 1 PM for the driving test at 2 PM. I waited till 1:15 and started calling him. This 'cheat' does not pick up the phone. Finally, I had to cancel the slot after I could not find any alternate drivers to take me to Lodi at such a short notice. Absolutely pathetic, unreliable and unprofessional.... This guy should never be trusted.

Negative experience: I don't like giving bad reviews. I guess this one would be my first one. If I could I would give no stars. I booked fours day ahead for 6:30pm and the Egyptian guy confirmed it. It was passed 6:30 and I called him. He said, "I am on my way".An hour later, I called he is still on his away. When I was trying to say something he just cuts me off and keep talking. No professionalism, instead apologizing he said you can cancel if u wish. Would not recommend anyone.

Fantastic experience: Mr. Magdee is a very good instructor. He is calm, very patient and his methods of teaching are very student friendly. I thought parallel parking would be very hard to learn, but his simple tactics helped me parallel park all by myself on the second try. Charges are $40 per hour and he never forces you to take more classes or a set number of classes. The only con is that his car is very old..but it is functional enough to learn and drive on the road. Absolutely recommend him!

Positive experience: Passed in first attempt, took 11 hours driving About me: I haven't driven before and this is the my first time learning to drive experience. I took my first class with Amar DS for an hour, second one with Amin for 2 hours and then I got appointment with St.Mina DS. Magdy is all in all when it comes to St.Mina DS Timing: I usually book appointments at the end of my driving session for the next one. He gives me call five minutes before reaching and ensure I get complete 2 hours. About instructor: He asks in first class what is the expectations from him, what you want to do for this 2 hours, etc. I found difficulty understanding his linguistics at first few times, but the main words like brakes, gas, left, right, stop, k turn, park are clearly understood. So, I never bothered about the stories he shares. My driving sessions: I took 5 sessions, each 2 hours. Session 1,2 turns, parking, backup Session 3 highway driving at night Session 4 highway, parking, k-turn Session 5 local street driving On the day of exam, I requested him for an hour to practice and drive to Rahway, my exam centre. I found the tips he shared very helpful during exam, like the stop signs where people miss and fail, 3 time signal change while k-turn. At the end, I felt extremely happy to pass in the first attempt. Because I practiced in that car, I am confident now to handle any car. Because he always talks during the session or engaged in calls, I am confident now that I can drive with any distractions caused by my fellow passengers. 4 only because he needs to improve a lot on car cleanliness .

Negative experience: It was really bad. First of all he has a thick accent and worse than that is, he has big ego. He keeps yelling over every single mistake that you make. This was my second and final lesson. I am done with him. Forget with driving lesson he has a big ego over the phone too. He should understand that people have tough time understanding his thick accent yet he is so foolishly proud of his knowledge that he has an audacity to shout at others as if he is teaching free of cost and doing favor to others. Also, I must let to know that he is not focused on teaching. Hardly explains any road concepts and most of the time keeps talking over the phone booking his appointments. I will never recommend this person as a teacher

Fantastic experience: Mr Magdy is one man army. He teaches only after observing the driving style. His correction method in case of hitting curb and alternative methods of k turn made me pass my road test at lodi with breeze. He is punctual and may sound impatient if we miss time. He gives one hour exact course unlike other driving schools. Definetly would recommend this driving school if your aim is to drive safe and of course clear the road test.

Fantastic experience: Magdee, the driving instructor is awesome and I was so pleased to meet him. I passed the road test easily in my first attempt. Pros: 1. Most patient and kind instructor - he will never yell at you rather will guide you on your mistakes. Guys..Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he won't get irritated and will clear all your doubts. 2. Professional - He will always call you 10 mins before your class and will reach on time. He will charge you reasonably as per market rate (Not like Amar driving school who had increased their per class fees by 5 dollars after my 3 classes with them). 3. Excellent driving skill - He will teach you all tricks and techniques for parallel parking and K-turn. Moreover, if you are incorrect in trying to make PP then he will teach you how to correct it properly (which other driving schools like Amar and Amin don't teach). Cons: He has a basic model of car. (Well guys.. According to me, car model shouldn't affect your driving if your motto is to learn driving). 100% recommend Saint Mina's driving school.

Positive experience: He explained me everything initially. He is good but make sure you ask him all the things you need to learn & that too politely, he will tell you only what you asked. Whatever you do with his car or in the car , ask him, take his permission. That's the way you please him.

Fantastic experience: Magdy was so patient. I went 3 schools (city line, falcon and provident) before I found him. I told him how I was trying to find the right one for me because i was very nervous. He told me no worry I am him. He couldn't have been more right. I am so grateful. I passed the test on my second time out. The first time was my fault because I was nervous. I went back to him for additional lessons and BOOM I passed. He is amazing and I would totally recommend him to any and everyone.

Fantastic experience: Amazing guy to learn driving from. He is very very patient and will not yell. Just will tell you what you did wrong, and practice your weak points (mine was turning). He charges a little extra than most places ($40/h) but most places you get horrible instructors that yell their head off at you so he is worth the money. Will give you the full time, so if you got picked up at 1:15 he will give you exactly to 2:15.

Fantastic experience: Magdy is awesome!!! I took a 2 hrs class with him and it's really a value for money. He promised me a 8-10 pm class, but was delayed and still took it 9 to 11 with same energy and dedication. For his age and experience he is little impatient on a naive like me, but still he has not shown it and tried to help me doing it more. Pros: 1. time, time, time - when most of the shops around closes by 5, he works from 6 am to 11 pm and can get a prior appointment before or after work hrs even on a weekday 2. He knows what is required to get a license 3. Being a one man company, he cares for customers..: lot of other places, they do it for job sake Cons To get his appointment I am lucky enuf to get a license on my Indian DL, I just got a two hr with him to experience the US style.

Negative experience: Guy was rude. Wouldn't even talk to me properly. Why even open a business if you don't need customers!! I wish there was an option to give 0 stars

Fantastic experience: I recommend anyone to go to this school. The instructor was on point & on time. He made me feel so comfortable on the road. He was also very patient

Positive experience: I took 5 classes as I was starting from scratch. But he really taught me well. He told me exactly how the test at Wayne is going to be. The way he teaches parallel parking is really good. He makes it easy and I was able to park perfectly in one shot at the test. All in all worth it.

Fantastic experience: Recommended if going to Newark MVC. I took a class and then went to the test with the instructor. I took the test at Newark and he had worked at the Newark MVC so he told me exactly how the test would go. In my one class he took me to a spot that simulated the test experience and I practiced exactly how the test turned out to be. Called night before both times to confirm and arrived on time. I had driven before however and was going to the Newark MVC so if you have not driven at all or are not going to the Newark MVC for your road test you might have a different experience.
