Fantastic experience: Please, if you are in need of a driving evaluation, rehab, adaptive equipment, or whatever brought you to this review… do yourself a favor and start here. I am a below knee amputee of my right leg. It was due to an injury that occurred while cycling. I was transferring my license to MD and had to be evaluated for my ability to drive to obtain the new license. I researched multiple options. One was minutes from home and work. Instead i chose to go two hours away to DRCE. It was the correct choice. My experience could not have been better. From my initial phone call to my last evaluation I dealt with compassionate and knowledgeable professionals. You will not be just another person in need to these amazing people. Fantastic experience: Over a year ago, I suffered a significant injury to my foot that made driving, and many other everyday activities, a real challenge. The loss of independence was overwhelming, and I began to wonder if I would ever regain the ability to drive again. That’s when I discovered the Driver Rehabilitation Center of Excellence (DRCE), and their incredible team gave me hope. The staff at DRCE went above and beyond to help me regain my freedom. They installed a specialized driving device that allows me to operate the gas and brake using my hands, completely removing the need for me to use my injured foot. The level of care, attention to detail, and professionalism they showed throughout the process made all the difference. Taylor, Amanda, Rich, Ruben and Tammy are wonderful and amazing individuals. It was such a privilege to meet them. Because of DRCE, I am now back to driving confidently, which has allowed me to return to recreational activities I enjoyed before my injury. Fantastic experience: DRCE did an awesome job of helping me get some of my independence back by being able to drive again! The OT team evaluated my peripheral vision and reaction speed time first and then we had a few driving appointments together, even venturing to downtown DC past the capitol building to give me a taste of heavy traffic with a lot of pedestrians. The staff were very helpful in all of the driving exercises and I felt ready to drive on my own. They also do vehicle modifications for people who need them to operate a vehicle. I would highly recommend DRCE for all your needs for coming back from an injury and hitting the road. Thank you to DRCE!

Fantastic experience: DRCE is an excellent center. They train you on their vehicles and help you decide what kind of hand control is best for you. Then their mechanics install it in your car making sure it fits you just right. Everything was very professional and helpful from Ruben, the front desk administrator to my teacher, Amanda, to the mechanics that installed my hand controls. I felt safe and well trained. Amanda, my teacher, was exceptional. DCRE is the only place I refer folks for hand controls.

Fantastic experience: I want to thank DRCE for being there and helping me get my new car modified with a left foot accelerator. Rich Tully really helped me out through the whole process. He answered all my questions and even met with me before we arranged the pedal installation, and went over all my options and pricing. He even gave me a tour of the DRCE facility and introduced me to some of the team members. He got me scheduled for the pedal installation in a time frame that was quick and worked with my own schedule perfectly. The technician Charles that actually did the pedal installation did an awesome job. I have been driving with a left foot accelerator for over 25 years and Charles did one of the nicest and cleanest and well positioned mechanical left foot accelerator installations I have seen yet. Fantastic experience: The installer provided to me in Virginia was DRCE (Driver Rehabilitation Centerof Excellence, LLC and my Sevice Advisor, Richard Tulley - Mr Tulley, Richard wen above and beyond the call of duty and installed my lift! He and his staff, especially Charles one of his fabricators who worked on my car did an excellent custom installation! My car looks like Nissan factory installed that lift in 2020 from the factory! I will admit I was hesitant but allof my fears were laid to rest when I returned to pickup my Armada! Richard Tulley, Charles and every other associate who worked on my vehicle were professional, took pride in their work and alleviated any fears I had! I would highly recommend the DRCE in Chantilly, Virginia to anyone who wants a first class mobility installation! They not only take pride in their work but they value you as a customer! Fantastic experience: A little over six months ago I sought out the services of Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) for assistance with helping my son overcome some challenges with driving. DARS referred us to Driver Rehabilitation Center of Excellence, LLC in Chantilly, Virginia. Kaleb made a wonderful connection with his coach Amanda. She helped him build his driving skills and his confidence. As of Friday, June 2nd Kaleb is a licensed driver!! Kaleb and I could not have completed this goal without the superb instruction from Amanda Mendez and support from Julie, Rich Tulley III, and the entire team at DRCE. Negative experience: Latisha Keith was rude insinuated if I had ADHD asked me not to drive without the steering wheel knob In the middle of the road etc. all DMV wants to know am I able to operate a vehicle and when I clearly informed her I didn’t know anything about Chantilly roads she kept me on a road I was unfamiliar with, when she should have had me in a empty parking lot because as I stated DMV only needed to know am I able to operating a vehicle not be a driving instructor when you’re an rehabilitation specialist never again

Fantastic experience: Do not recommend anyone going to this place. The arrogance displayed at this place was absolutely ridiculous. Center of Entitlement and Arrogance is a more appropriate name for this business. They discriminate and treat people poorly. Absolutely no empathy or compassion for anyone's circumstances. They only care about themselves. Be warned - Don't trust these people.

Fantastic experience: Driver Rehabilitation Center is so much more than a mobility aid supplier. They go over and beyond to to support their clients. My spouse is just recently wheelchair bound. They are not only assisting us in getting an accessible van they also connected us with other clients in similar situation. Marcus offered to take my spouse on an outing. Tammy is providing connections and introductions to people that we would have never known existed. When you choose this establishment- you are adopted into a family of people who love what they do and genuinely have your best interests at heart.

Fantastic experience: Provided refresher driving session and driving assessment at a reasonable cost. Installed my push/pull hand controls, jelly button for secondary controls, spinner knob, and feet block. Incredibly knowledgeable, great attention to detail, and friendly.

Fantastic experience: When I called DCRE, they called me right back. They had an option presented within a week (it was the week of July 4th, so it probably could've been even less) which had an honest timeline and reasonably priced. The turn around time was ABSOLUTLEY amazing. Lastly, their work...craftsmanship...is TOP NOTCH! The level of freedom and independence they've given me is priceless. Sadly, I only get a new car about every 10 years. But be assured, when that day comes, I’ll be coming back! Thank you to Noah, Julie, and especially Jake.

Fantastic experience: I can't overstate how wonderful DRCE has been to work with! They installed a power lift for my wheelchair in my trunk, but also went above and beyond and fixed my hand controls to be more comfortable (the original company that installed them did not take the time to fit me properly). DRCE was super fast, very responsive, and very helpful in guiding me to the right equipment and training me to use it.

Fantastic experience: I purchased a new car and wanted my hand controls transferred. The Dealership refused to drive to MD to drop the car off to the person I been going to over 10 yrs, but it’s a little far. A quick google search I found a place in Alexandria. But they had my car for a month and to top it off the car felt weird. The initial location mention DRCE for a prescription update and I called for advice, that when I found out they also did hand controls installs and the reviews where amazing. I took the car the next day I finally got my car back to get it inspected. Noah explained in detail what they did right and what was wrong, and how to fix it. I was dreading not having a car for another couple days, but to my surprise it was done in one day. And it was done correctly! Everyone there is friendly, professional, and they look like they enjoy working there. And, it shows with the amazing service.

Fantastic experience: Tammy and the whole team at DRCE went above and beyond to help me get back behind the wheel after seven years of trying to get everything right. Driving as a quadriplegic has several challenges but they were no match for this shop's knowledge and expertise. If it weren't for them, I don't think I would ever drive again. Fantastic experience: Marietta I am very surprised and sorry you had a bad experience at DRCE. My husband is a quadriplegic and learned how to drive there shortly after they opened up. Honestly DRCE probably saved our marriage, we would have been lost without them. We have been back many times to have vehicles adapted and normal maintenance performed. We have never had bad service and everyone there has always treated us like we were family. I am sure if you contact them they will try to address any complaints you have.

Fantastic experience: The staff here is extremely personable and knowledgeable. They offered honest advice and were clearly set on helping and not just out to make a profit. I went in to determine if pedal extenders were something I may need due to my short stature and pregnancy belly and they adjusted my car to better suit my needs but ultimately determined I did not need any added modifications. I felt so relieved having an expert tell me I was driving safely with my baby and so appreciated their help. I would highly recommend their services to anyone who is in need!!

Fantastic experience: I live in Frederick, MD and after searching for over 6 months for someone to install running boards on my 82 year old mom's Subaru, I finally, thankfully, received a recommendation to contact DRCE. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The DRCE team was so compassionate to my mom's mobility issues and designed and installed the running boards in under 3 days and also at a price point that allowed her to take advantage of the Subaru Mobility Assist Program meaning it cost her $0.00. I wish all businesses had the customer service I received from this team! A true joy to work with! And, now I don't worry about my mom getting hurt just getting into her brand new SUV and they look fantastic, like they came straight from the factory. Thank you DRCE !

Fantastic experience: I was referred to DRCE by the occupational therapist at Medstar NRH. From the moment of initial contact to an adjustment that was made yesterday afternoon, Noah and the team took the anxiety out of a stressful situation. I could not have asked for a smoother process. The hand controls were installed sooner than expected and when I returned for a “driver error” (stupid floor mat causing a glitch) they told me “come back any time, we’re here to help”. Simply put, these folks are professionals!

They helped my husband a few years ago get hand controls in his car and now three years later docking stations and hand controls for our Ford Explorer! They took their time to make sure everything worked for us. We are both wheelchair users and now we can finally independently go to places together!! Fantastic experience: TOP NOTCH!!! What can I say, from the minute I made my initial phone call to the end of my modifications DRCE was outstanding. The entire staff CARES and it shows through the entire process. A huge plus to this company is not only are they a driving school but they also do vehicle modifications for the handicapped. I did my due diligence when getting quotes on my modifications and to say the least their prices are more than FAIR. I went through a driving school in my local town, but after going through their school they were unable to sign me off on certain modifications I wanted/needed. DRCE was able to take care of this aspect of needs for me because they have the correct equipment to sign you off. If you need a driving school or modification facility just call DRCE and don't waste your time anywhere else.

I went for my appt a bit nervous not knowing what to expect. There I met Tish and Tammy and other members of the team all great and so easy to talk to. When it came time to getting behind the wheels Tish helped me to understand the hand controls n made me feel so relax, again I felt I had a friend in the adapted car with me. Fantastic experience: I visited DRCE for the first time in 2019 with a sense of hesitation, not knowing what to expect. Tammy, Trista, and Marcus were exceptional in helping me figure out the right equipment, getting the license and placard from the DMV, and eventually installing the left foot accelerator in my Nissan Rogue. They are clearly experts in this area and set a very high bar for service quality. The installation was done in the promised time and is so subtle one hardly notices it on a cursory glance; Justin did a great job. They were transparent and fair with the prices and were generous to not charge me for waiting more than 2 hours at the DMV for my test. I cannot recommend this place enough to anyone who needs adaptive equipment in their vehicle!!!

Fantastic experience: This amazing business was founded by a wounded warrior who served in Afghanistan and a retired Army Major who founded the first and only comprehensive driving program in the Department of Defense at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2008. Under one roof, the Driver Rehabilitation Center for Excellence (DRCE) will do a full driving evaluation of someone who is disabled but wants the freedom and mobility of driving restored to their life. DRCE provides a comprehensive program to evaluate whether the person is capable of driving, designs a system to get them back on the road and modifies vehicles in their state of the art shop to accommodate special needs. In the past therapists working with the disabled and vehicle modifiers adapting vehicles for the disabled worked in different silos and talked past one another. DRCE integrates the entire process. Not only does DRCE service wounded warriors and other disabled persons wishing to get back on the road, the also provide independent driver evaluations for senior citizens. In my case, my wife and I wanted to provide other family members assurance that a senior family member was still capable of driving locally to familiar locations during the day. DRCE put this senior family member through a series of mental agility, coordination and on the road evaluations then delivered a comprehensive report on this persons ability to drive. The two co-founders, Josh and Tammy, are on site you work with them during the evaluation. Highly recommended for anyone who is disabled and wants to drive again or who wants to evaluate the driving capabilities of a senior family member.
