Negative experience: Driver was very unprofessional! I made an appointment for both of my daughters to practice driving. The instructor insisted on taking them both the same day. After my youngest daughter’s lesson they were then dropped back off and my oldest was told that she has to go another day because he had something to do.. when I called the instructor he proceeded to lie and say that my daughter told him she didn’t want to drive. I then told him that was not true and he then said “ oh ok “ and please stop lying and saying she doesn’t have a valid permit when you know she does. She’s taking multiple lessons with you. I would respect it more if you just tell the truth and say what you told her which was that you were tired from driving all day so she would have to practice another day

Fantastic experience: I passed my road test on the first try! They’re so kind and understanding and I got the hang of what I was doing pretty fast. I highly recommend this school for anyone who wants to learn! Truly a fantastic experience!!

Fantastic experience: We used excell for my daughter and they were wonderful. My daughter was always nervous and unsure of herself when we would take to areas to drive, that completely changed when we hired excell. She always came home happy and confident. The day of her road test I was more nervous than her. Excell took her as I watched from the side. When she was done the test administrator got out of the car, gave me the thumbs up and said she was excellent, passed everything with flying colors. Now she's out driving on her own, and confident. Thank you excell for helping us, and putting my mind at ease when she is out driving.

Fantastic experience: I had a fear of driving and never thought I could get the techniques of it. When I first started out with Mr Joel, he had to help guide me with the steering wheel the entire lesson, that’s how bad I was. He was very patient and kind but firm and he never make me feel bad. I can say after having driving lessons with him, I was successful in passing my road test. I would definitely recommend him without thinking twice about it. Negative experience: I booked about a week before the lessons were to take place. The person never called and never came. I called both numbers listed online, and I received no response. In fact they have been sending my number to voice mail. * I even called before I booked to make sure this place was “legitimate” . They answered then.

Fantastic experience: Extremely affordable, even for teens with a part time job. This school teaches you everything you need to know for your driving test. Hand over hand steering, parallel parking, watching for little things you wouldn't normally pay attention to. Frankly without them I would never have passed my test. I am extremely grateful for all the hard work and dedication that they put in to help me pass.

Fantastic experience: Ok so I called in literally the day before my road test and spoke to Joseph, I already know how to drive but I’ve never done parallel parking or k turn before so I met Joseph the day of the road test and we practiced literally ONE HOUR and he explained to me how to parallel park and k turn and it was just so easy to learn! I passed my exam and didn’t need to do any further driving. Excellent teaching and patience!! 100% recommended for whoever wants to get their license super easy! :)

Negative experience: I couldn’t give them zero stars. From the get-go I knew this wasn’t the driving school for me. I got my permit later than the average and the instructor pointed that out and how her younger kids already drove which wasn’t the best feeling. And then I scheduled my second appointment with her after paying for the package at 2pm on a Tuesday. She said she’d be late but I didn’t know how late. She finally arrive a bit after 4pm and got mad at me that I couldn’t do the lesson at that time. Very inconsiderate. Very rude and unprofessional. I tried to set up another one and they gave me a refund of the remainder of my package. Unbelievable. Truly.

Fantastic experience: they’re really nice and helpful. I was really stressing because my test was in two weeks. Took a couple hours with them, with all the support they got me to pass on my first attempt in Newark. Joel and his wife are on time, ofc they will be strict but at the end of the day, they just want you to pass, they’re really nice and we’re so happy when I pass because they know I’m very nervous. Really recommend!!!

Negative experience: I just used Excell Driving School for the road test (plus a brush-up/practice right before the test), not for regular driving lessons, so I don't know how typical my experience is. Good things: Joel is a friendly and helpful person, and he's very knowledgeable about the road test. I was anxious but he was able to show me exactly what to do, and I passed! The pricing seems reasonable, and unlike many instructors in NJ, he wasn't booked up for weeks in advance. Bad things: We clearly arranged by phone when and where we would meet (2 hours before my test so I'd have time to practice), and when I arrived and called him he told me he would be an hour late! He said the reason was that I hadn't called to tell him I was on the way – something he had never told me to do! He wouldn't take the blame for this or reduce his price in accordance with the reduced amount of time (and the inconvenience). Also, in the hour we were driving around he took several phone calls, one of which was from another Excell Driving School student who was wondering why their instructor was late!

Fantastic experience: First try: I passed the road test. All thanks to Joel and his wife, too! Joel is indeed a very good instructor and a nice person. I am so comfortable driving with him, he taught me all of the necessary skills needed as a driver. I felt confident cause I know that he trusted me as his student. He also made the atmosphere light with our casual conversations yet he still pointed out my errors while driving. I am so thankful that he made me calm the day of my exam… never felt embarrassed even though I made a lot of mistakes during the practice. One last thing, he’s a man of his word, when he say he’ll arrive at 6:30 AM…he will. He genuinely care for his students so trust him and you’ll do good. Fantastic experience: At the beginning of this year, I needed a driving school and happened to find one that was close to me. I started doing my 6 hours with Joel and never felt uncomfortable. He made every hour count teaching me the basics of the roads and tips and tricks on how to parallel park and do well on the test. I constantly received compliments from him which soothed my nerves and helped me be a better driver. They also practice with you before the road test just in case you feel unprepared and have any questions for them. I passed my road test on the first try because of them and will remember the tips and tricks he taught me while driving on the road.

Fantastic experience: Everyone who either wants to go get their permit, driving license or just practice, Excell Driving School is definitely a solid choice of option. Not only is Mr.Joel patient, he’s also attentive to immediately fix or address whenever a mistake is made; I’ve only took 3 lessons and it felt so natural when I went to take my road test for my license...it’s still a new feeling since it’s my first time driving but with Mr. Joel coaching, I was able to get a great practice and understanding of what I need to do and don’t do!

After just 3 lessons of 2 hour sessions for 3 days which totalled 6 hours at a very affordable price, I was able to gain the confidence and experience needed to become a successful as well as safe driver. The instructor always confirms your appointment. Arrives in a timely manner and provides you with the necessary knowledge as well as skill to prepare you for everyday life situations when it comes to driving. Here I am at 33 years old who started out as a nervous 1st time driver to now a more at ease confident driver. If I can do it, so can you. Learning to drive is an investment for your future. I had my road test scheduled today April 6th and passed my 1st try with flying colors. Excell Driving School will not disappoint, you will be taught everything needed to pass the road test and to become a safe driver. Positive experience: My driver instructor was patient and when I made mistakes, he provided me with many advices. He corrected my mistakes during practice so I can do better after the 6 hours with him. At times I felt nervous, but his compliments gave me more courage to relax. Negative experience: DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT hire this driving school. They should not be in business. The owner was my child's instructor. She hated him. He was impatient and mean. He totally stressed her out. We paid $240.00 for 6 hours. This was a unexpected demand. He could have refunded the money after realizing it was working out. But no, he kept our check saying that he was already home. We had to stop payment on the check and reissue another for $40.00. No apology just more demands. How very disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Very good. Pier is very passionate about his work. He really taught me how to drive. Ive never touched a wheel in my life (besides for a golf cart) and he taught me how to drive within a few lessons. His dedication to his work helps newbies master the skill of driving
