Fantastic experience: I have severe anxiety and it took me 4 years to even get behind the wheel without having a panic attack. I practiced primarily with my mother but chose to do a couple lessons with Iqbal for things like parallels and K-turns. I passed my road test first try! I can say for sure without him I would not have done nearly as well. The drivers in Red Hook and Rhinebeck unfortunately are getting increasingly demented and moronic with all the urbanites moving here, and I had some stressful experiences with them during my lessons. Definitely think some of them need a lesson or two in road etiquette. Lastly, I really appreciate the precautions Iqbal has to keep the test vehicle clean and sanitized. As someone with extreme contamination OCD/germaphobia it definitely made me feel much more comfortable than I otherwise would have.

Negative experience: I wanted to give 0 stars but had no option, so went with 1. But would give MINUS. What a terrible person! I called up to get information on the driving process and was trying to understand/ ask questions he was so RUDE he hung up on my face he didn’t even let me complete! PATHETIC/BAD experience. Please DONT waste your time calling this driving school. They clearly are bad teachers and don’t need any business.

Fantastic experience: Iqbal number one is very best school for learning driving. Iqbal the owner is so very caring to make sure we pass the driving test and obtain our license. I am saying this confidently, because I have two kids and both of them learned the driving from him in three years apart. Both of my kids learned with the utmost safety on the road and with every detail to pass the test with high score. Both of them got their licenses in their first try and that only happened because Iqbal took real care to teach them as if it were his own kids. Thanks to an excellent instructor, he is now a confident driver. i was also impressed by his safety standards with Covid still present he cleans his car after each student. masks and gloves are worn during their lessons. He is A great teacher! He also scheduled the road test quickly and took him in the school car which he was used to driving!

Fantastic experience: Hello, I’m Rubin, 17, from Ulster county ny, and I just got my class DJ drivers license thanks to Iqbal #1 Driving School. My parents couldn’t offer me proper instruction, so I took bi-weekly lessons with Iqbal for 3 months and passed my road test 1st try, but more importantly- I feel confident and competent behind the wheel. I highly recommend this school for young people in Hudson Valley, or anyone learning to drive.

Fantastic experience: Iqbal was a great teacher! I failed my road test twice before I took classes with him. He was calm, collected, and taught me in a way no one else has been able to. He shows you tips and tricks on how to parallel park perfectly, do the 3 point turn with finesse, and corrects anything else you might be doing wrong. I finally passed my road test by doing everything he taught me. I will be forever grateful! 5/5 highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Took 5 lessons with Iqbal. He is very valuable when it comes to specific knowledge you'll need on the road test. I drove a lot without him, but I think his tips definitely helped me get my score of 295/300 first try.

Negative experience: I completely agree that this guy was very condescending to me too. He would tell me to do something, then tell me I'm doing the wrong thing. I felt unsafe with many of the things he told me to do, especially some dangerous things in ACTUAL TRAFFIC! Not worth the money here, EVER.

He is accommodating and does his best to cater to all students no matter the need or skill level. He treats his students like adults and expects the same from them. Negative experience: If you are looking for a driving instructer, I would highly NOT recommend this place. The instructer had a poor attitude throughout all of the lessons, was extremely condescending, and was a poor teacher. Honestly, I learned more about driving from a couple hours driving with my parents than I did in all of his lessons combined. We always took the same route, so we never learned anything new between sessions. And as I saw before in the reviews, he purposly makes the lessons slow just so he can get you to take more classes and pay more money. The only positive aspect about this school was able to get the 5-hour course out of the way fairly easily. However, definetly not worth the money

Fantastic experience: 3 years ago I suffered a heart attack while I was at my place of employment, which changed my life. I had to retire from my job and lead a quieter, simpler life that was free of stress. This was fine, but the worst part was that I completely stopped driving after doing so for 33 years. The heart attack emotionally paralyzed me and caused me so much anxiety (I feared I would have a heart attack while driving) I stopped driving at age 61and nearly convinced myself that I would never drive again. Things changed. My health improved and my desire for independence emerged. In January 2020, I decided that I had to rebuild my driving confidence (finally) but under the watchful eyes of a professional driving instructor. I chose Iqbal Number 1 Driving School. I am so glad I did!! I am delighted with Iqbal! He's a wonderful, patient, calm and extremely informative instructor that has helped me rebuild my confidence after 5 lessons. I know I am still anxious about some things, but that's not an issue. I am planning to take another 5 lessons with this wonderful instructor. Thank you Iqbal!!

Fantastic experience: My son was scared off of driving after his friend got into a scary accident, and no matter what my husband and I tried to do, my son was still fearful of driving. Things changed after he turned 17, and he realized that he needed to learn to drive. Upon a friend’s recommendation, we went to Iqbal, and my son, within two weeks, had all of the confidence in the world. He even went so far and bought his own car a month before he passed his road test (which is what happened today). Thank you, Iqbal. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you!

Negative experience: On 7-23-2019 at approximately 10;15 in the evening I was traveling south bound on route 9 in the town of Red Hook when a newer Toyota pulled out of the parking lot of the Red Hook Diner with no lights on directly in front of me nearly causing a collision with the 15,000# 35' long truck that I was driving. The vehicle proceeded to the Stewarts location a short ways down the road and pulled up to the gasoline dispensers. I followed the vehicle into the Stewarts to have a word with the driver. I sat in my truck for several minutes waiting for the driver to exit his vehicle. After approximately five minutes I decided to call the phone number that is on the sign locate atop his roof. From where I was sitting I was able to see his cell phone illuminate with my incoming call. The phone was answered with a difficult to understand "hello" in very broken English. Upon answering I introduced myself and explained the reason for my call. Initially, he was in total denial as to what my concern was saying that he was not the individual driving the car. When I explained to him that I was in the very same parking lot as he and I can see him speaking to me on his phone he went into a ridiculous explanation that the reason he pulled out in front of me with no lights on was because of an on going headlamp relay failure and as he is telling me this I can see his hand repeatedly turning the headlamps on & off. No matter how many times I asked him what that has to do with the actual act of pulling out directly in front of me he continues to turn his headlamps on / off. Getting nowhere with him I ask if he is the was the owner and all I received in response was "call tomorrow". I call two days later (7-25-2019) and the very same voice answers the phone. I ask the individual if he was the person I was speaking to on Tuesday night and I get the same cat-n-mouse runaround. This individual goes on to explain to me that the vehicle in question was in for "service" that evening and it must have been an employee of the service center driving the car. For all I know this guy could be the Joey Chitwood of driving instructors but I certainly would not want to have been a passenger in his vehicle that night...

A dedicated driving spirit with years of experience in NYC and other places, I have had the privilege of being his pupil as a beginner of vehicle driving. Fantastic experience: Iqbal worked with our son to get him ready for his road test. Once your child gets their driver's permit, Iqbal offers everything they will need to get their license - on their first try...! The 5-hour course, scheduling the road test, private driving instruction, and even taking the kids to their road test appointment (and home again)... As parents, we never had to leave Red Hook! It is a total and complete package from end to end, and we highly recommend it. Our twins turn 16 in the fall, and we will DEFINITELY be calling Iqbal again!

Fantastic experience: I have been meaning to send in a review of Iqbal Number 1 Driving School for a year now and just never got to it. So here I am now to tell you that every child should take this course. Yes I tought my daughter how to drive and yes she was a good driver, but I still decided to send her to Iqbal's school. The thing is in the beginning I was sending her so she would know what it was like to drive with a complete stranger in the car for her road test thinking this would help calm down her nerves for that up and coming day. The first day was for Iqbal to see how she drove and then we would go from there. Upon return he said that she was a good driver but there were a few things she needed to work on moving forward to test day so we agreed to do the 5 lesson package and we were so glad that we did. Kenda showed me things that she was taught for road safety, parking, the road test, and a few other things that he taught her and to this day she uses all of the skills that she was taught by Iqbal. When road test day came she of course was a little nervous, and it got a little worse when she saw that the girl before her did not pass. Kendra not only passed the road test but got a big complement from the woman doing the test. She told Kendra that she was probably one of the most cautious, alert, observent and confident young drivers that she has ever had the pleasure to ride with. That made her feel so good and she thanked me for taking her to Iqbal for those lessons because she said that she wouldn't have done as well without them. So a Big Late THANK YOU to Iqbal for everything..... As I said in the beginning every new driver should take this course no matter how well you think they drive. Its for their safety and the safety of others.
