Fantastic experience: Extremely great people and staffed help me with every question I had and tried to help ME to fix my problem before I even made an appointment. I will 100% be back with any future issues with my E-scooter. (I brought in YUME Raptor)

Fantastic experience: Purchased a bike from Audrey and Mark at Electric Avenue a few weeks ago. They are very knowledgeable, helpful and customer friendly. They helped us order the bike and had it ready much faster than expected. They helped with the Austin rebate process and also continue to provide customer service. My spouse is now working to purchase a bike too. It’s been a good experience and I would recommend using this company to purchase bikes.

Fantastic experience: I bought my Gazelle e-bike from Electric Avenue last year and I have loved it. I recently came in for a quick diagnostic and Mark was able to fix my e-bike light in just a few minutes. He was very knowledgeable and taught me about some basic e-bike maintenance that I can do at home.

Negative experience: I was taken back by the sarcasm and absolute lack of customer service. I dropped my bike off to diagnose an issue and from when I walked in they made sure to let me know how much they disliked the brand of bike. The smug attitude started there but I assumed they were still professional. Fast forward to two weeks later and I’ve heard zero and reached out for a progress report. I was told my bike would be looked at the following week. On the 3rd week they called asking for account info and bike info to get started on the bike. I had sent this information to them 19 days earlier. I have them the information and finally received a diagnosis. The bill was already at $165, $65 of Evian I want made aware of. They stated i needed a new controller and it would be $150 and they needed a deposit on the controller that i was already paying for? Lastly, they had no idea what they charge would be to install. I asked that they stop any work on my bike and I would pick up next day. Upon arrival to the shop there were two employees none of which greeted me or acknowledged when I walked in. I told them I’d be taking care of the controller myself and the response was “good luck with that” i laid the remainder of my balance and went to grab my bike. He was discussing some parts for the bike and I wiped my eye and he said “are you paying attention?” I was blown away. I’m a 45 yr old man and and the way he talked at me was ridiculous. In a different setting, I guarantee he would not be so bold. So, yeah…this place is horrible.

Fantastic experience: I had an outstanding experience at Electric Bikes Avenue in Austin. My Stromer ST3 e-bike wasn’t charging, so I brought it in along with the charger. The staff went above and beyond to help me troubleshoot the issue. They were incredibly patient, not only in figuring out the problem but also in helping occupy my two kids while we worked on the bike. The best part? They managed to get everything working perfectly and didn’t charge me a dime for their time and assistance. I highly recommend them for their exceptional service and dedication to their customers.

Fantastic experience: Mark and Audrey have been nothing but helpful and exceptional with me. I bought a used e bike from them, approximately 3 weeks ago, and it rides great!! They were very friendly and helpful in giving tips and advice on my first e bike! They took their time to answer any and all questions (even the dumb ones). They seem to really care and have a vocation for what they do. Today I went in to air my tires and to give guidance on how to retrieve the battery from the bike (which seemed to be stuck) and they were extremely willing to help in any way they could. I would recommend any of my friends to buy a bike from this place. They are friendly, caring, and helpful. Thanks again!! and see you soon! :)

Fantastic experience: I happened upon electric avenue when my normal bike shop was backed up on services. Even though they were too Mark took a look at my bike and fixed my issue on the spot!! The service was great, employees friendly and I'll definitely be back when I'm ready to upgrade to an electric bike.

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Hi Ebony, please accept our sincere apologies to you, but we don't remember you as one of the many people coming into the store at all, so maybe you were one of the many phone callers we had asked to hold on the phone (before you had to go and hang up while on hold). There were a few times on this Tuesday where the phones were ringing off the hook, we were so busy, and we had to have more than one caller on hold over the phones at those times while serving people in the store also - therefore, very busy! Thank you for your belated understanding. Best regards, Mark & Audrey Electric Avenue

Fantastic experience: We bought our son a slightly used Razor eletcric dirt bike, but when we got it home and charged up, it wasnt working. Nobody in town wanted to work on it but Electric Avenue was willing and happy to have us bring it in. We originally thought is was the batteries so we had new ones installed, but to find out it was something else. Electric avenue diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, and my son has a working dirt bike and a smile on his face thanks to them. They are a first class shop and care about customer service.

Fantastic experience: Purchased a Riese & Müller e-bike and couldn't be happier with my decision. The owners are knowledgeable, kind, and very helpful. I had tons of questions, and they both took the time to answer with plenty of detail. I really appreciate the experience I had, and would highly recommend this bike shop, its the best.

Fantastic experience: This is the mid- to high-end transportation eBike shop you need. You'll find friendly staff who know a TON about the details of their various brands and models. The service is done right where you can watch, and their selection of parts and accessories to make riding a convenient way to get around is excellent - no go-fast bling here. Be sure to get your Austin Energy rebate when you buy from here - they're a local retailer on the list of cooperating shops!

Positive experience: Took my 2014 Stromer in for an analysis of a NO_COMM problem with the controller. Nice people but, Apparently the store does not have the equipment to diagnose the problem. Spent $90 and found out nothing I didn't already know. The bike still does not work. Was hoping find out if I needed a new charger, battery or controller.

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear Jim K, Thanks for your feedback, however your review is oversimplified and lacking in information. You had emailed on March 2, 2023, asking about a NO_COM error on a non-assisting bike but made no mention of the fact that your display (where the NO_COM error is presented) was damaged and attached to the bike with tape and glue; and your bike was DIY modified with an after-market throttle. You also only later in the email correspondences mentioned that you used a non-Stromer battery charger that may have damaged your Stromer battery. At this point though we did recommend that you replace the charger with an OEM Stromer charger, and perhaps the battery as well. The motor controller could also be bad. We said we would need to see the bike to determine its issues, as email diagnoses can be faulty or misdirected due to missing details about the situation. When you brought your bike in for us to look at on April 4, we were able to tell you multiple definitive diagnoses: (1) your Stromer battery is still apparently good (measured 37.8V) (2) you need a new display (3) you should not use a charger other than a Stromer charger for your Stromer battery (4) if you had a reliably working display, it would be possible to conclusively determine if your controller/motor is defective or not (the controller is integrated inside the hub motor assembly ($1350) on your Stromer Version 1 ST1 bike and is not separately replaceable), or if the NO_COM problem stems strictly from a defective display. (5) we don't recommend an after-market throttle on a Stromer bike (the bike was no longer stock or original equipment, making it more difficult to assess). Unfortunately we did not have a new Stromer display on hand for you, however when we recommended that you replace it (a new display, still available from Stromer, is $150), you declined. So we were not able to go any further since the next step was a new display. If you had told us more information about your bike's damage and modifications from the start, and agreed to purchase the required replacement parts to be able test and fix your bike during your brief stay close to town, we probably would have had enough time and equipment to fully test and repair your bike. In short, you didn't give the situation due time and investment to actually solve the problem. But you are closer, because the $90 you paid us (for 1 hour 10 mins labor and diagnosis time on April 4, 2023), we were able to inform you of the above items. We hope this helps you ultimately repair your bike, or make a good decision about moving onto another bike. Best regards, Electric Avenue Team

Fantastic experience: Great experience with maintenance done on my Stromer. It is no small feat to work on these advanced electric and this store has the expertise to get it done right the first time.

Fake Name 3 years ago

Negative experience: Over the phone, I was told that I could bring my bike into be charged. Twenty minutes later, I arrived, and this weasel-type fellow employed there looked me up and down, and told me they were too busy to deal with me. On the basis of his look and his all white clientele of soccer moms and dads, the odds are is that he was probably racist. So if you are any shade darker than flimsy bed sheet left out to dry, you should go somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: I bought my Gazelle there and since then I've ridden it 278 delightful miles. They sell very high quality ebikes that can replace a car. Warning: buying your ebikes here may cause you to want more and better bike lanes and eventually join the war on cars.

Fantastic experience: Great little bike shop. Owner/operator run by very cool people. Emerson helped me out today with my Cube bike and filled up my tires and fixed a broken lamp. Negative experience: THEY FALSELY ADVERTISE SERVICING SCOOTERS! Shame that such a business would falsely advertise servicing electric scooters when it seems just a ploy to get u in the store to sell you a more expensive e-bike. Don't waste your time unless you want spend alot of cash. Won't want to listen otherwise. I suppose I can understand because without overcharging you they wouldn't be able to afford their lifestyle or location. Again, shame they can't put the customer first...as evidenced by the reply and other reviews. Whats more is they even have pictured scooters. Of course they remember the incident and further did not offer apology for refusing service and misleading website but did offer a heartfelt one in their reply, for that i thank you...really. Also it appears that the bad servie is the customers fault...well allow me to return the very heartfelt apology...ditto.

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear E. Apologies, but it's not our intention that Google and perhaps other search engines tend to rank us highly under search terms that involve 'scooter service' or 'scooter rental'. Because we have been around for almost 13 years and we started out as an electric scooter shop, we apparently still show up prominently under these searches, even though our business has evolved over the years to more or less exclusively selling and servicing high-end e-bikes. And, as you may know, we are really not able to control exactly how Google's search algorithms decide to interpret a business' activities on its platform. On the other hand, we found you to be a rather offensive individual in your impatient and condescending attitude toward our employee when you visited our shop, and in your scathing and one-sided review here. This is especially the case, considering we had endeavored to help you with free advice on how to best repair your almost non-serviceable scooter, as we often do with customers who find themselves with challenging problems related to their precious vehicles. If you've calmed down since our 'encounter', you may find that following our advice of contacting the manufacturer to seek out the unique part that your scooter needs would probably be your best bet in beginning to solve its issue. After that, if you wish to bring us that part and your scooter again, we would be able and happy to repair your scooter for you. And, it would probably be for a reasonable cost of less than $100. We hope this helps, and that you have a nice weekend!

Fantastic experience: Last month, we stopped in to explore e-bikes. Although we told Mark that we live about 9 hours away from Austin, he was generous to share his time and expertise with us. It was refreshing to sense his honesty and goodwill. They carry an excellent selection of bikes and I would heartily recommend their business.

David Phi Nguyen 4 years ago

Negative experience: I want to make clear that the rating is only of my experience and not the business as a whole. My experience I think is atypical, and I think normal experiences with the business are probably more satisfactory for others. Long review: Several years ago, they listed a used scooter online that I wanted to buy. I went to their store and found that it was actually not ready to be driven and needed much repair. I was still eager and decided to buy it anyway, and I thought the owners pleasant. My first mistake was probably committing to buying an unfinished product. I think they also could have been clearer in their listing. Some time later, after what I imagine to be dedicated work, the scooter was finished, and I picked it up. It died on me as I was driving home. This was the first of a few battery failures. I also learned that the scooter would not have the specs from the online listing I saw, which was probably just the specs from the original manufacturer. They decided to buy a fresh battery after concluding that the current battery was unusable. At this point they had probably looked at the scooter for quite a bit now and this expense was probably unexpected for them, which I mention to acknowledge that they did do work figuring out the situation. However, up to this point, I thought this work to be somewhat obligatory; otherwise they sold me a lemon. After that, the scooter ran much better, but there were just other problems that I wasn't expecting. The rear bar broke, for example, due to the previous owner's alterations. In the end, the scooter wasn't really what I thought I was going to get, so I decided to bring it back to them to put on consignment. It's up to this point that I still would have given them four or five stars, as my interactions were still mostly pleasant despite what had happened. I hastily signed a consignment contract with them. For about two years, there was no communication. To be fair to them, I didn't reach out either. When I finally did call them, I found that they did sell the scooter despite not telling me. The reason they didn't reach out was that repairs apparently had to be done on the scooter, and those costs outweighed what I would have received from the sale. One, they probably should have told me anyway. Two, I was never asked if I was fine with the repairs. Three, I was surprised to learn that there were any issues at all--I thought I had left a working scooter, one that they personally had a large, almost entire, hand in getting into working order, not long before consignment. Unfortunately, there was a clause in the contract that was written vaguely enough such that I could have been held responsible for repairs even without notice or approval. I decided not to fight this. I wish they would have instead said that they couldn't accept the scooter for consignment in its current condition and gave me the option to take it back. (Still would have been surprising given all the work they had put into it in the first place) They did offer a small amount to me after I called them, but I declined it. They had sold the scooter for nearly the same price as I had bought it, and what they offered did not mean much, even as a conciliatory gesture. In their defense: they spent many man-hours on the scooter, they incurred an unexpected expense on their part (for a new battery), they did what they were (probably) allowed to do within their terms of consignment, and they did offer me some money, however paltry. Besides that last money offer, I ended up putting a scooter on consignment with a business and got...nothing--and without any notification. Considering that I even bought the scooter from them to begin with, it's hard to not see this as them getting paid twice for a scooter, regardless of what labor they put into it. I, on the other hand, spent thousands of dollars to end up with nothing. I would have given them one star, but because they still seem like good people if not always good business people, and they probably do satisfactory work outside of my experience, I leave two.

Fantastic experience: Mark and Audrey are great to work with. They are extremely knowledgeable and will provide outstanding service. We bought an Urban Arrow Family and Gazelle electric bike from them and we could not have been more happy with the experience. They still email months later to check up on our bikes and to let us know that there was an upgrade for one of the bikes that they can take care of for us in the shop. If you are in the market for an electric bike and would like more education or are just looking to ride one out of the door, I would not go anywhere else. Fantastic people and a fantastic shop.

Patty Adams 4 years ago

Negative experience: They dismissed my concerns. I would encourage you to find another shop with mechanics who can partner with you when you have an issue.

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear Patty, We're sorry if you had any concerns dismissed during your visit at Electric Avenue. Our intention is to help and provide you with quality and friendly service and accurate advice regarding your electric bike. We greatly value your cooperation as a customer and patiently heard your concerns trying to give you our best answers. While in mid discussion you left and we were not able to answer you. Perhaps you mistook our momentary looking up on the computer the price you requested for a dismissal of your concerns, which was not the case. So, to complete our thoughts on the concerns you brought up with your bike, we had a prior finding that we wanted to share with you before you left: On your previous visit, we also saw the excess oil that you saw, however, upon disassembling your bike in the chainring area, we found that the oil was not originating from the drive unit or motor, but rather from the chain itself. We maintain this because no oil or oiliness was seen between the drive unit output shaft and the circumference of the chainring or the chain that rides there. Furthermore, this firmly suggests that the excess oiliness of the chain was applied externally only and not leaking from the drive unit. To improve this situation during your bike's last visit, we cleaned some of the excess oil off, but we were not aiming for complete removal of the excess oil. In addition to the oily chain situation we also noted that a non-factory, incompatible bolt was holding the chain guard on and grinding on the chain in certain gears. We replaced this mis-fitting bolt with a compatible bolt. When your husband came to pick up your bike after your bike's last service visit, we took some time to explain these details to him and asked him to relay this information to you. We hope you remember him doing so. Our apologies if any of this is not in accord with your thoughts on the matter.

Fantastic experience: If I could give six stars, I would. I wasn't sure I was going to find an electric bicycle that would work for me, because I'm 6'8" tall. I bought a Gazelle Arroyo, as it was the bike that felt best to me. Mark and Audrey were amazing at helping me choose the model and size, and I can't be more happy with what I ended up with. I've taken the bike back there for a few tweaks, and the service has been amazing. It had been a few decades since I'd ridden a bike, and I would have been lost without Electric Avenue. I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Amazing service. The owner and the techs were so helpful. Best scooter repair in Austin! Thanks Electric Avenue!

Jonathan Batres 5 years ago

Negative experience: This shop has inexperienced tech workers and charge arm and leg for service! Don't come here for brake job or anything related to maintenance. I paid $180 for a Tube swap that takes 30 minutes at most to complete. They took 2 hours plus to swap the tube. Bad business model imo. Karma will come back and bite you. Based on the other negatives review responses from the owners, I'm not surprised to hear that this is not what happened. Save it for the next one!

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Hi Jonathan, your Qiewa scooter can be very time-consuming and difficult to service. This is why many shops refuse to work on them, and we do not sell them. As a special favor to you, our technicians put in about $320 of service and we charged you only $180. Your scooter was working adequately fine after being carefully repaired by us when it left our shop more than 2 months ago. We regularly advise customers to research how to repair their scooters themselves in order to save money, if they can't afford to pay Electric Avenue's rates. This advice we give for free!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience working with Mark & Audrey at Electric Avenue. They're extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of e-bikes. They have a really broad selection of quality e-bikes. Previously, I had only been looking at e-bikes from the traditional bike manufacturers such as Trek, Specialized, Raleigh, etc, but Electric Avenue offers a lot of different options from companies that have been in the business a long time. I strongly recommend anyone who's curious about getting into e-bikes to start your journey at Electric Avenue.

Negative experience: Good bikes but I had a repair. They shorted out the new controller, left all the wires from display just hanging and left controller in battery well. No licensed tech, charged me $320 in labor (A 1 hr. job) and left worse off than when I brought it in! I am suing in small claims court and made a complaint to BBB.

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear Cisco, You may recall that it was you (or someone else you contacted before contacting us) who shorted out the controller that you first obtained.  Our techs are UT Engineers and also Bosch certified.  When you brought your Artnin* scooter in, it had malfunctioned under your use and had been hacked and further heavily damaged by one or more misguided attempts to repair it.  After you received your scooter back from us, it was properly repaired and working with a new controller that we supplied, even though you failed to pay for a majority of the work.  We left your scooter incompletely assembled because (1.) you had stated that you would get a battery for it yourself, and (2.) you did not wish to pay (or could not pay) for any more work to be done on it at that point.  You fail to provide all of the details here about your part in the destruction.  Namely, we cannot be responsible for what you do after you bring your scooter home to effectively wreck it again.  We would encourage customers to work with us (as they would any other service provider) if they have any issues with a repair, and return it to the service facility so that adjustments or improvements may be made to the repair as needed or desired. *Artnin is a defunct company that had imported Chinese-made, recreation-grade scooters.

Negative experience: I went there with a functional e-bike for a small repair and after a month I was given back scrap pieces left on the sidewalk. Aside from that, as far as I checked, the store offers: - Customer service with attitude - A fleet of new overpriced e-bikes and scooters - A longer fleet of overpriced e-bikes waiting to be repaired in solitude for an indefinite amount of time If you want more details please read the following description. My electric bicycle had a minor issue with the throttle as sometimes it would not respond when I was trying to speed up. I decided to take it to Electric Avenue Scooters to find out what was the problem and fix it. I was asked to pay an $80 deposit fee for the bicycle inspection and the diagnosis of the problem. The technician explained that this fee would potentially cover the repair cost if the issue was not significant. We agreed that I would be contacted within three business days to be given an estimate of the repair cost and authorize further work if needed. Otherwise, I was told that I would be able to pick up my bicycle after the inspection. A week went by without receiving any calls from the store so I decided to contact them to find out what was the bike's problem. To my surprise, I was told that nobody from the staff had given a look at it yet and they would call back within another two or three business days. I spent one more week waiting patiently, but again there was no call. When I contacted them to check if there was any progress the store manager started making some guesses about potential causes of the problem. However, I was not provided with a diagnosis and an estimate of the repair cost. It seems that my bicycle was not inspected at all at that time. In a later communication it was explained to me that the bike's controller would have to be replaced. After an unsuccessful endeavor from my end to find a spare part from the seller and speed up the process, I was told that they would look it up and call me back. At that point I still had no estimate of the repair costs. After ten days of waiting I decided to call them again. Eventually, the repair cost estimate was too high. When I rejected the offer, the store manager tried to overcharge me with fees that I had never been informed of and I had never agreed to pay. We agreed that I would pick up the bicycle at the same day to avoid any storage costs. When I went into the store my bicycle was presented to me dismantled and I was waiting for the technician to reassemble it so that I could leave. As I was waiting the store manager characterized my e-bike as "garbage". She then vigorously grabbed its parts and moved them out of the store, leaving me and the technician gazing at her heroic act. While she was laughing for her achievement, I explained that this is unacceptable and I would have to report her. As you can see in the photo, I was left with a dismantled vehicle that I cannot ride and I do not know if it is working at all. I consider Electric Avenue Scooters liable for all the expenses associated with transporting and re-assembling my electric bicycle. I reserve my right to pursue further legal action and I will be expecting a refund of its original retail price in the case it is not functioning as it did before bringing it to that store. EDIT: After bringing my bike back home, I detected and resolved the issue myself in less than 15'. No problems noticed since then. Being an engineer, I can say that no "reverse engineering" or "custom re-engineering" had to be employed. I also understand your struggle to use technical terms to justify your incompetence and tardiness. As mentioned above, the incident had to be reported, since you refused to provide me a service that I had already paid for (i.e. bike diagnosis and reassembly). I was informed that this was not your first interaction with the police. The officers had to account for your false and defamatory premises and provided both parties with options to file charges. However, I admire your imagination in fabricating how they applauded your "generosity".

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear Stefanos, although it may be difficult to accept, the very inexpensive one-off bikes, such as yours, tend to have very low durability and non-supported or non-existent replacement parts. Many such bikes need to be reverse engineered or custom re-engineered in order to make a repair or just to restore basic functionality. As many of our customers who find themselves in this situation may expect, re-engineering is a bigger task than just repair. These tasks may be time-consuming, and therefore more expensive than one sometimes expects. We took care to explain this to you almost every time we spoke to you. So therefore, we reluctantly conclude that you have intentionally misconstrued or misheard our communications. In your review above, you fail to mention that you called the Austin Police Department the day you picked up your bike, in order to threaten us into re-attaching the bottom cover of your bike. This occurred after your refusal to pay Electric Avenue the extra hour of labor incurred in diagnosing your bike and finding a viable repair option. APD Officers Ramos and Griffis both kindly informed all of us that Electric Avenue can and should press charges against you for theft of service, and that we at Electric Avenue acted generously towards you in allowing you to abscond with your bike.

Fantastic experience: Very helpful at explaining and showing the different options and letting us test drive. Sawthem helping others while we were there who were there for service, definitely seems like a place I would want servicing my ebike as well.

Fantastic experience: The service was great, our couchrider Jeremy was outstanding, he was patient, made sure we understood each maneuver, explained everything in details, and was always smiling and helping us understand how to make each maneuver right. My wife was a first time rider, and by the end of the class, she was riding with confidence because of Jeremy. He even took a step further, and got an ice box to make sure that we can keep our water cooled and made sure we are well hydrated. the owner came as well to check that everything was good. If you are looking for a family time and want to learn how to ride, I cant recommend this place enough. Thanks JEREMY for all your help and support and patients.

Thanks HS for your kind and generous remarks! It was a pleasure and a treat meeting you and your wonderful family, and Jeremy said it was a great pleasure instructing you all. We all wish you and your family a very safe and enjoyable riding career!

Fantastic experience: My wife and I took the May 8th basic riding course with Gene and it was great. Once we get a few miles under our belts would like to take the BRC 2 course if offered. My wife learned on an emax electric scooter and me on a motorcycle. Which she really ended up liking. Thanks again Electric Avenue and Gene!

Positive experience: I got my electric bike about 6 months ago. I love it. I can ride from the Triangle area to downtown in 15 or 20 minutes at a leisurely pace. I can park near any destination. The best part is riding home, it's steadily uphill all the way, but with a bit of boost it's like riding across a level parking lot. Easily 5 stars for the bike. The only reason the store doesn't get all 5 stars is that there is not a lot of support items for sale. It's not the place to get helmets, or locks, or water bottles, or tshirts or what not. They sell the bikes and scooters and they are very good at that. You just have to go to another bike shop for accessories.

Fantastic experience: I drove from Houston to look at ebikes here recently. The owners were friendly, knowledgeable, and, especially, patient. They spent a couple of hours with me, encouraging me to ride all their bikes, and Mark showed me how to adjust the gears on an internally-geared hub. In the end, I bought the bike that was at the top of my shortlist, based on reviews. It was a pleasant experience. Mark knows his science fiction, too.

Fantastic experience: I chose Electric Avenue Scooters to take my MSF Basic course. I am so glad I did. I went in to talk to them, and they were kind and friendly, and I signed up for a class in 3 weeks. I was stressed out about learning, but I pushed myself despite coming down with bronchitis right after signing up. The class started, and I was immediately impressed with the instructor, Choon. He was professional, friendly and made everyone comfortable. When we started out on the range, he made sure we were comfortable with our choice of motorcycle or scooter. He began slowly, and eased everyone into their comfort level. Each exercise pushed us a little further, we were coached in areas we needed to work on, and encouraged throughout. By the time we reached the test at the end, we all did well and passed. My stress level was high at the start, as I'd taken the class several years ago from someone who shouldn't have been teaching dogs, let alone people. I would recommend this experience to anyone who feels the slightest trepidation about riding. I'm definitely ready to get on my Ridley and continue practicing the skills I learned. Great job Electric Avenue, and many thanks to Choon!

Fantastic experience: To start off with I would like to say I have been into the e-bike world for a few years now. I own multiple bikes and 3 e-bikes. Im the kind of person who like to be educated before I make a purchase. Mark, Audrey, and Sarah are very personable and are eager to help with all my questions. When I did ask a very technical question about the Bosch Motor, Mark put me in touch with the Magura Representative (Jude) who was able to answer my questions to my satisfaction. I have visited Electric Avenue for a few years now and have always felt welcome and greeted by name. I have always been impressed with the quality of their products and wealth of information. They truly seem to enjoy what they do and it shows in the level of customer service they provide. Now about my bike. I LOVE MY BIKE! I bought the 2017 FatSix 6.0 Haibike with the 500 watt hour battery, and have loved every second of it. The FatSix goes anywhere (everywhere) with a level of comfort you would expect in a bike of this caliber. The FatSix is an awesome product. I've owned my FatSix for 19 days and have put 501 miles on it. I've ridden in every terrain imaginable; from grass, concrete, dirt road, greenbelt, etc. Also in all weather conditions. My family and I try very hard to be car free and ride our bikes everyday. My FatSix is not only for recreation, but it is also my everyday commuter. I've been so impressed with Haibike's level of quality in all areas of the bike. From the tires, to the brakes, derailed, and frame there is a level of quality and craftsmanship that can be seen in their finished product. I can't begin to express my satisfaction with my FatSix. I ride everyday and everywhere with a smile on my face and can't wait to go on a ride!! With a bike of this quality you enjoy getting up everyday and getting on the bike. I really enjoy riding my bike and the Haibike's FatSix has made it even more enjoyable! I want to say THANK YOU to Mark, Audrey, Sarah, and Haibike for starting me on this new adventure. They have made the process so enjoyable and will definitely be referring everyone to Electric Avenue Scooters for all e-bike needs. Christopher Ian Groesbeck

Adventure awaits with every electric vehicle ride! Best regards, Mark

Negative experience: I am very unhappy with their customer service, and storage fees at Electric Avenue Scooters. The repair quote to fix the brakes was high enough that I questioned the logic of having the full extent of Marks repair recommendations done, because the value of our scooter didn’t justify the expense. Therefore, I asked Mark very specifically to apply ½ an hour of additional labor into making best efforts to clean the parts, and I clearly told him I would take a chance on whatever the outcome was. Unfortunately, he put 1 ½ hours into the work. I specially asked him to do a ½ hour because I wanted to minimize additional charges beyond the deposit. I did not see the wisdom in putting 1 ½ hours based on his original diagnosis. Again, I clearly told Mark I would take my chances on whatever the outcome was. The 1 ½ hours appears to have been a total waste of money and time. He and Audrey should not have charged me for the extra hour, and to add insult to the situation, as I tried to express my dissatisfaction, storage fees were “gently” brought into the conversation and added to my bill. In my opinion this was a very poor representation of customer service so we picked up out scooter in a disassembled state. I prefer to give my money to a company that is willing to take responsibilities for the decisions they make.

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear Mike, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We always try to keep in mind the customer's perspective in everything we do, but we ask that customers treat us fairly, too. To recap the situation, we gave you a clear and itemized diagnosis informing you that new front brake parts were needed on your scooter because the existing parts were not repairable. Only upon your insistence and instruction to "clean" and not replace the parts, to try and save money and the old parts, even though they constituted the braking system - an area of strict safety concern, did we do so. This is clearly not a course of action that any business with a sense of responsibility for its customers, like ourselves, would undertake on its own. We ask that customers should take proper responsibility for their own instructions. The 1 ½ hours appears to have been a waste of time and money because it was! We advised you of the ineffectiveness of cleaning versus replacement in your scooter's case from the beginning. By choosing to actively disregard our qualified diagnosis to, instead, insist on your own course of action in which you "give" us a half-an-hour to perform cleaning work (that actually required 90 minutes), that you felt, sight-unseen, might solve the front brake issues, you were in fact, taking on risk. At worst, you were actually intending to exploit us without compensation, and goad us into bearing responsibility for your decision if your instructions failed to provide the favorable results you were seeking. Out of deference to you, and empathy for the unfavorable outcome, we gave you the option to pay as you would see fit for the over-time required. Also, other than applying storage fees, we see no other way of equitably passing on our storage costs to customers when they take more than 3 business days to give any response to comprehensive information we've provided. When the "ball" is in the customer's "court", we (and most, if not all, other professional service facilities) see it as the customer's responsibility to compensate for storage costs, also.

Negative experience: I have had two electric scooters. In both cases they were good scooters, But my dealings with electric Avenue had been confusing at best. That cute little couple that runs The place are peculiar at best and dishonest at worst. They have their own way of doing things and we'll tell you about their "procedures" (which is a code word for charges) after-the-fact. In one case they actually sold a scooter on consignment for me without bothering to see whether I would except the price! I felt like it was(for the record I would have rejected it) In another case there guy took my keys from me. And two days later is said if I did not come over to pick up my scooter they would "dispose" of it. The bottom line is this. You are buying a rather expensive item from these people. Perhaps I'm flaky or perhaps they are flaky. But you cannot get that expensive items serviced by anybody else in town. Buyer beware. Update: The problem was no a lack of wanting to do the paperwork. The problem was a changed deal when i showed up with the bike to do the paperwork. The employee took the bike and the next day they said they needed to charge me for an assessment and storage. None of this was mentioned when I dropped the keys off/ they accepted the keys. The part that cased me to question the ethics of the place was when I was told come get it now (24 hours after I dropped it off) or we will "dispose" of it. Hard to do when on a business trip in Chicago...

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear Jay, There has definitely been some confusion concerning your requests. We need three documents to successfully sell a scooter on consignment - the consignment contract, the signed Texas title and a 130-U form. If someone is unable to provide these documents, then we are unable to accept the scooter on consignment, as a donation or trade-in. These simple legalities protect the end buyer and Electric Avenue, and are set out in the Texas Transportation Code. Your several attempts at subverting this process trouble us; indeed, behavior like yours is why the laws and our policies are in place. We thank you and the general public for your understanding.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been servicing my Kymco People 250 at Electric Avenue for the last two years. I’m so glad I found Electric Avenue! They get to work on my scooter within a day of when I drop it off. Their mechanic Amir now knows my scooter inside and out. Amir always quickly and correctly finds out what’s wrong with my scooter. And inside the store, Audrey, Mark, and Lupe are extremely friendly people and very easy to work with. When it comes to servicing your scooter, Electric Avenue provides you with the best possible experience.

Fantastic experience: Just signed up for the BRC. Class is still 2 weeks away. The have the best price in Austin by about $35, plus choice of scooter or motorcycle. When there was a technical issue booking my class, they were quick to reach out to me, happy to fix the issue, and made it easy to get me into the next available class. Looking forward to the class. Will update July 2016. ***UPDATE*** Took the BRC1. Was lucky enough have Choon for an instructor. Personable, professional, knowledgeable, experienced, and fun. Keep in mind instructors are independent contractors, but the sponsors (in this case Electric Avenue) have control over who they hire to run the classes. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Very quick, so long as they don't have to order parts, then of course you have to wait. They're very friendly and frankly are my go-to place. My scooter was recently murdered by flood waters and they had it up and running in under two hours and for just under 150, it was kegged with mud I'm afraid. They're a great place if you have a motorized scooter, although I have no experience with electric scooters, but their place is littered with electric bikes and I can't help but eye them.

Fantastic experience: E. Ave. is the only scooter shop for me! They are flexible with pick up, helpful with information, super friendly, and it never feels like they are pushing me to buy or get unnecessary work done on Dalylah, my 50cc Kymco. Great turn around, genuine people, I've already referred 3 fellow scooterists. Thanks guys!

Negative experience: One of the most miserable customer service experiences I have ever had. I found Electric Avenue because my wife and I were looking for someone in town who services Ezip electric bikes. They do. I called to ask if they had a rear wheel/rim. Mine was bent due to an accident. I had already found the specific rim we needed online – I just thought I could save the time and shipping if I could find it in town. They (Electric Ave) told me the Ezip did not take a special rim – that any mountain bike rim would work and to just bring the bike by and they would replace it. We dropped off the bike on a Thursday. By the following Wednesday we still had not heard back so I called. They had not even looked at the bike and were actually surprised that we wanted it back so soon. Really!?!? (My wife rode it to work every day, weather permitting.) They said they would look at it the following day. It turns out that it needed a special rim after all and they would have to order it. How on earth do they not know that the Ezip takes a special rear wheel/rim? That was two weeks ago. They finally called back to say it was ready. Yay! I took my lunch hour to go pick it up. But when I got there the rear wheel was flat. They asked if I could come back in an hour while they fixed it. No. I had to get back to work. I do not live or work in that area. Wasted trip. And the final cost of the repair was almost double what they quoted on the phone. It was actually more than I spent on the whole bike to start with. Throughout the whole process the thing that really got me was just the sense that no one cared. The store is decent, as is their line of scooters. But dealing with them was like dealing with kids who might know a thing or two about bikes and decided to open a store, but have no clue about customer service or dealing with people. Based on most the other reviews I seem to be in the minority - and I hope so for the sake of their business. But for myself I will not be using them for anything again.

Electric Avenue Bikes - Austin

Dear Zen Master, We truly apologize for your disappointing customer service experience with us. If we could do it over differently, we would have communicated with you earlier to keep you apprised of the progress of the repair. When you and your wife first arrived with your Ezip bike, we had a significant backlog of repair work on hand, and although we would have liked to have called you sooner, we realize that some amount of parts and prices research is necessary before calling with an estimate. When you called the following Wednesday, we unfortunately still had not had a chance to do that research, and we ended up underestimating the extent of the repair and its cost. Just to be clear, the rim that came (standard) on your Ezip was something fairly inexpensive and cheap that is commonly found in bike stores, as we first asserted. To avert a repeat of the same damage, and to reuse the spokes which we felt were still good, we endeavored to order a more durable double walled rim which took some back and forth with a supplier (not Ezip/Currie Tech), as well as a two week wait for them to send the rim to us, and then respoking, when it arrived. In retrospect, we should have just ordered a completely built wheel from Ezip/Currie Tech which would have saved some time, but wasted some good spokes. Similarly, the rear wheel was flat when you first came to pick up the bike because we tried to reuse the tube, and this turned out also to be a mistake. We subsequently fixed your flat by changing the tube on your bike for free, and offered you a credit on a future repair or purchase for the $60 or so underestimated, on your $182.01 repair. Because much of your bad customer service experience was due to our misjudgements, we will continue to hold this credit for you, should you return.
