Negative experience: The instructor is nasty and rude. He yells the entire time and doesn't teach anything! The things he taught are wrong so it is a complete waste. He was always late and they wouldn't let me wait inside when it was 100 degrees out! I was waiting to finish my lessons that I prepaid for to switch to a different driving school and on my last lesson the instructor slapped me! I didn't even take the car out of park yet before he slapped my arm for the way I put in the key. I am in the process of reporting this. Although I never leave reviews I want to make sure that this does not happen to anyone else. So please stay away!

Negative experience: Sister got smacked by the instructor. The school berated her and the had the audacity to say that she lied about getting smacked. Driver never let her adjust her mirrors and was verbally abusive and showed up late multiple times. When it was over 100 degrees outside and the driver was late they did not allow her inside to wait and forced her to wait in the heat. I never leave reviews but this is out of control and I don’t want anyone else to go through this. Currently In the process of reporting this to the DMV and in touch with the police to file official report. I hope this place loses its license quickly so nobody else has to go through what she went through. There are many five star reviews but I believe the school is having them put there fraudulently as all of the 1 star reviews are almost identical to what my sister experienced.

Taught me how to turn left and right, park, u turn. Prepared me for the road test which i was fortunate to pass on the first try. Fantastic experience: The lessons were informative and prepared me well for driving in different situations.

Positive experience: I supposedly paid for ten 45 min classes but they were always booked for 2 classes each lesson. So in all reality I had five 1.5 hrs of practice. My instructor was strict and maybe could’ve been more realistic if he felt I needed more practice. The day of my test there was another person taking it as well who was a male and younger and of the same race and I saw the difference in criticism and his communication with this young man. I did feel some type of way just being honest. He even went so far to tell the young man don’t do like her not like her. When I heard him say that I held tears back honestly in the back seat after I took the road test. I failed my first test but I will try again but practicing on my own.

I opted into the 10 lesson plan, Allen who was my instructor is strict but reasonable, ultimately he wants you to succeed. I was able to pass my road test on my first try. Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here taking their refresher course for folks who already know how to drive. I needed to get my license fast and they helped make it happen. Passed the road test on my first try. Very affordable, too! Janet was really great with finding appointment times that fit with my work schedule. If you don't speak Chinese, I would not worry; their English is good. My instructor Allen (or Alan?) was very good about making sure I drove safely, smoothly, and without fear; He's a nice guy and I would recommend him. I can still hear his calmly repeated commands and phrases in my head whenever I drive now. He really repeats things until you get it, and it stays with you. He will definitely give you feedback if you do stuff wrong and when you do it perfectly. To the folks worried that the instructors are too impatient or strict: remember, you are operating a 2 ton death machine in a crowded city. If you do so unsafely, it's not just your own life on the line. Things can go bad in an instant. You can expect the teacher to correct your wheel or hit the brakes if something is not right. I would hope that any instructor would speak up and quickly correct poor driving rather than let it go on and someone gets hurt. Do not argue. Shake it off, listen to your Lǎoshī, incorporate the feedback, and they will have you driving right in no time!

Fantastic experience: I recommend this place 100% I passed my road test the first time I took it, and I have to give the credit to my instructor,. He’s very patient, and kind. He takes his time explaining things to you. And Janet works with your schedule for all the classes and road test, she sends you reminders and makes the process super easy. Negative experience: DON'T TAKE THEM. Especially If you are looking for a driving instructor who is patient, understanding, and knowledgeable. If you are not Chinese or don't understand Chinese then don't bother to take this school. This man is a RACIST and questions my race accusing me of not knowing English even though I was born here. The instructor has an accent that is hard to understand. The instructor's English isn't the greatest but his attitude is the WORST. I took 10 lessons. On the first day, I was excited to learn something new. He goes to the parking lot and gives me the car. Then starts yelling at me to drive the car. I wasn't even positioned correctly. Then he said something fast with his accent that is hard to understand. I asked him to please repeat it and he goes "You don't understand English. Your English is not great" and later goes "Are you Spanish. That's why you don't understand English". Even after what he said I still tried to maintain myself and tried to get the 10 lessons out of the way. He makes you nervous and yells every time. He tells you to not talk or even ask questions when you don't know something. The guys name is Allen or Lin I think. He is the only instructor. The only good thing about this driving school is the lady named Jenny. She was nice and helpful. They choose the driving test site for you so be prepared for that. The driving test site is a good driving site where there is not schools or pedestrians walking around. It’s at Brooklyn called Seaview driving test site. Overall, this business is HORRIBLE and don’t take it unless you want to spend your money on you failing.

Fantastic experience: Passed on my second test. I performed significantly worse on my second test, so I believe I would've passed the first time if I had had a different examiner. Allen is a strict instructor and you definitely need to be able to handle criticism, but as a complete newbie, I understood it and honestly appreciated it; driving around in Chinatown/Two Bridges is no joke. Janet is very quick and accommodating regarding scheduling, lesson pricing is very competitive, and English-speakers will be fine.

Negative experience: It is my first time to write a bad google review since I don’t want more people experience the same thing. If you don’t want to read my bad and long story. Just remember spend your money to a more reliable school. This one cheap for a reason. The driving school only has one coach and I don’t know this man’s name since he was very mad every time when he teaching me, I was very scared to ask more. At first, I thought it might be the way how Chinese teacher teach a student. What I want just pass my road test. So I don’t want to spend more energy to against him and or teach him how to be a emotionormal teacher. Until my road test day, I had 2 classes in the morning and road test at afternoon. The teacher was extremely impatient with me, I’m not confident with my parallel parking, since the teacher didn’t give me too much chance to practice it and every time when I’m about to ask questions, he refused to answer me and said ‘don’t ask me, I already told you very clearly’ actually I never been taught how to do that clearly, he just became very mad and impatient when I made something wrong. That’s how he teach student. And he told me that I will drive another car right before my road test, and I had drive the same car for the classes so I totally not familiar with the new car in my test, although Janet says it’s the same car model but all the setting are different and I was very nervous. I failed the test, didn’t pass on the parallel parking. I called Janet ask If they can get a discount for next 2 classes and I will pay another road test fee since the car changed made me fail in the road test also the teacher didn’t do his job in the whole process. They just want me to take more classes pay more money. I have drive license in China and I just need practice to falimiar with driving in the US. She was very rude and said I made trouble out of nothing then hang up on me when I'm not finished…. Twice!!!! I truly double how they can called themselves a school???They are robbers!!!! Janet will reply “you are not student from our school” under all bad reviews, but I believe all the one stars reviews are all real, I read every one of them they are saying the same thing about the coach - Mental issues teacher. spend your money to have someone can help you instead of wasting your time ruining your days and road tests here.

Negative experience: I was able to pass and get my license on the first try. Liked their program for people who already know how to drive but just needed a refresher (two-40 minute refresher course back to back scheduled right before your test) The instructor retaught me how to parallel park and I passed no problem. BUT the instructor was very mean and unpleasant. He was impatient and will yell at you if you made a mistake. If you are someone who doesn’t respond well to this kind of teaching method then this place is not for you.

Negative experience: *Read this if you are looking for a patient instructor* If you are a complete beginner and looking for a patient instructor this school is not for your, for multiple reasons: 1. ONE INSTRUCTOR ONLY: this is a one instructor only school and operated by 1 couple/siblings, you can’t switch instructor if his teaching method is not suitable for you 2.SAETY: Driving in Manhattan is no joke especially in LES/ China town area, lots of trucks and Jaywalkers, Mr. Lin tried to grab my wheel for multiple times and for one time, he scratch my left hand and there was a tiny wound with blood on it, I was silly and didn’t stop him for protesting it and continued to take my remaining lessons & added on 4 lessons before my road test because I was convinced I’m terrible at it. But that 4 extra lessons didn’t keep me from failing my test, I doubt if his teaching methods would make any progress/improvement 3.VERBALLY ABUSIVE: the only instructor Mr. Lin got anger issues and not patient AT ALL. I read this similar comment by Dominique Rosario now and I can testify that his instructor’s attitude does not apply to only English speakers, I myself is Chinese and I speak both languages fluently, he screamed at me in both language for 7+ lessons and called me a bad driver and not suitable for driving. The exact word is “still know nothing after dozens of lessons” 4.MR. LIN CANCELED MY LESSON: After I failed my first road test, I committed to 2 more lesson & a road test package, and I applied for PTO at work for the road test. On my first lesson, Mr. Lin screamed and again tried to grab my wheel because I pulled over 2/3 inches too far next to a car which I was told to parallel park behind. I confronted him finally and saying that this teaching method doesn’t work as he kept taking the wheel and I could not learn. He lost it and saying that I should take his seat and teach instead. On the next Monday, Janet called me and say I have 2 options A : refund for the remained lesson and Mr. Lin would not teach me anymore no matter what, but he could still bring me there for the road test option B: I get refund for both lesson and road test package. Either way I would receive no lessons prior to my second road test because he’s the only instructor they have and he's not teaching me anymore to avoid any more further complaints. Nonetheless, Janet, the administrator at the office was kind and helpful and provided professional service and helped me scheduled my classes in a timely manner. That 1 star is for her. This is not a malicious review, I just want people to know what they are signing up for. It could be partly my fault too, since I continued lessons after he began to show aggressive behaviors, I did not see the red flags and I should have let Janet know and stop coming after he scratched my hand. Overall, this is a very bad experience because being Chinese myself, I always try to support my own community and this is extremely disappointing.

The driving instructor is really professional and nice as long as you listen to what he says. I passed after my first try and it’s my first time driving so it’s a great place to start at.

Fantastic experience: Took 5 classes and passed road test with confidence on my first try. No prior driving experiences at all. The instructor is strict and picky because he wants you to do things perfectly and you will almost not hear a praise in your first couple of classes - don’t take it personally and you will hear him telling you that you did a good job later in the course when you are able to do something with no miss. All the techniques he teaches are useful. Also the classes are in the middle of downtown Manhattan where the traffic is busy, difficult and scary for newbies. Don’t get overwhelmed or lose confidence. After 5 classes I felt very prepared for my road test.

Negative experience: One star because the 5 hour class was hour in a half. I failed and I'm fine with that because I'm not ready I need more classes with someone who is fluent in speaking English and loves their job. But before that I had 2 more lesson so I ask Ms. Janet (his wife or sister) for a new instructor there wasn't any because Mr. Allen was the only instructor that "spoke English" and he was bad at it. I didn't understand most of what he said and he has no patience with people who don't speak his language. His attitude is unprofessioal like he hate his job. Janet will tell you one thing and then say "look at your receipt" and what she said isn't on the receipt. If you not Chinese don't go to them it's cheap for a reason.

He’s a great teacher that respects traffic rules and etiquette, and also knows how to help students pass the test. Janet handles scheduling and communications, and has been very helpful throughout the whole process. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: The instructor (Allan the tall middle-aged guy that speaks English) is rude, disrespectful, has no patience, and unprofessional. (Also he tends to not wear a mask) He has a habit of putting you down, making you feel awful, and often makes remarks that lower your confidence behind the wheel. He has often gets angry at you for making mistakes as a newbie driver. I ended up doubting myself a lot and dreaded every class. Spend your money at a school where the instructor is respectful and patient.

Positive experience: Passed my driving test!! Money well spent, and at an incredible rate no less. I so appreciated how Janet would call with a reminder 2days in advance of every lesson, and was extremely reasonable about rescheduling lessons around the holidays and travel. To those saying the English speaking instructor is very rude… he is *strict*, and knows when you’re nervous vs actually can’t do it, and pushes through said nerves. I admit some of his action commands were with little warning, and he gives very few gold stars, but he makes sure you shape up fast!! Just breathe, cheer yourself on, and adding a few playful, “hey that was the best one so far! Eh? Ehhh??” Helps lighten the mood. I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 because more detailed explanation and review in the lessons would have helped a lot. In short, welcome to driving boot camp. You got this!!

The instructor can be harsh yet firm but he’s incredibly well versed in the rules of the road and teaching his students techniques and methods. He has his students’ top priorities in mind. Your confidence will build and you will pass the test inexpensively. The Zhen school is very patient in working with you. I had a very complicated schedule and traveled out of the city often, but Janet made it work. She’s kind and efficient in building a learning package that suits your need. Take her advice! My instructor was strict but he is serious and responsible in helping you pass the road test. Once I was late but he added extra time afterwards out of his own time. His tips and pinpoints made it so easy to learn and perform things like parallel parking. You are definitely getting your money’s worth and more at Zhen.

Fantastic experience: I passed my road test after I took 90 min class with Zhen Auto! I previously took classes with a different school. When I took my first road test, I got really nervous and failed it. In search for a different school, I came to Zhen Auto. The instructor of Zhen Auto is very strict, will point out all the small mistakes you make. This way the instructor gave me the same vibe like I what the test would be, ultimately I passed it. I appreciate this method so much!

They are not that expensive and the coach was very professional. My couch was strict but nice, very responsible. I’ve never taken any classes before and I bought their 10 classes package. Fantastic experience: JANET (secretary) & ADAM (instructor) both AMAZING!!!! Their prices are very affordable!! $25 for 45min lesson! I failed my road test twice before with another school, I took 5 lessons with ADAM and passed!!! The test wasn’t even 5min long and I passed!!! ADAM is strict and serious about his job and getting you where you need to be for road test! Do not take it personal, he is just trying to be as professional as possible, same vibe as the examiner! So you’ll be double ready!!!! Good luck!!! Totally recommend them 100%

Fantastic experience: I had never driven before in my life and I took 10 classes here and passed the road test on my first try! The instructor doesn’t baby you when you’re driving and I found this to be very helpful while learning. You learn to drive in the city, which is much more difficult than the road test, so if you do well during your lessons, you’ll be set for the road test!
