Fantastic experience: We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Approach Driving School. Fred was my son’s instructor and could not be a better teacher and supporter for him throughout the process. He’s kind, calming, patient, knowledgeable and welcoming as are Mike and Diane in the office. They all helped us tremendously along the way, even if it was sometimes just calming the mom nerves. Very satisfied and highly recommend!

I was contacted almost immediately after my inquiry online, by the owner, Diane, and I was able to get a car rental scheduled for the very next day (today). I was SUPER nervous but Instructor Mike was AMAZING. He was very calming, supportive and personable. He was very patient while explaining what to expect and it felt like he was truly happy for me when I passed the test. Fantastic experience: The Gold Guardian program is OUTSTANDING! Our daughter had anxiety and was extremely hesitant to drive. With the extra hours of tailored instruction through this Gold Guardian program our daughter got the extra TLC that she needed. Now she is confident and utilizes so many of the techniques and knowledge she learned through the extra hours that she spent with Fred who is a phenomenal teacher!! Fred's humor, compassion and dedication to tailoring the instruction specifically to our daughter made an incredible difference. The Gold Guardian program is specially designed to guide those people who might just need extra time but those who have challenges will find exactly what they need through this instruction. Diane, the owner, is exceptionally helpful and guided us through the process. A ++++ to Approach Driving school for providing this exception and unique service. Totally beyond the standard 6 hours that checks the box. This program is the best!

Fantastic experience: My experience with Mike was so smooth and simple. My son really seemed to become comfortable driving quickly as Mike spent time training him. We even had to reach back out as a result of our neglect and Diana let us know that she preemptively addressed the issue and eased our concerns.

Negative experience: Very expensive, they charge for practice before exam while other schools give you 15 min for free. Also, they do not wait for you to finish the process after the exam even though you rent the car for the exam. They provide tips though.

Negative experience: The person who talk to me was so rude and cancel my appointment cause she make the mistake about the day of the appointment with DVV and I just tell her to be clear with the date, she get upset and tell me to go with somebody else, I try to calm her down but dint work, some how she was racist when she find out my wife the one who have to do the road test is Spanish, how you can keep a business running this way is my question, very unprofessional

Fantastic experience: I would give 100 stars if I could. The finest driving school in Randolph, if not the finest in Jersey. The finest and kindest people. Diane the owner was an absolute pleasure to talk to when I had called up for a practice session for my wife on the day of her driving test. On the day of the test, Fredrick, the gentleman who was the instructor was not only the best instructor that we have ever seen, but also one of the best human beings we have ever met. Fantastic experience: I needed a car for the road test so I chose approach driving school and had a 1 hour review along with it. Ms.Christina was amazing! She gave me a 1 hour review and made me used with the car for the road test. I was scared as hell as I failed my roadtest lasttime and today I passed :) She made me feel comfortable and didn’t get annoyed with me or my questions. I would recommend her and the driving school ..

Fantastic experience: Amazing service. We needed an instructor and use of vehicle for the road test on literally 48 hours notice. We’re from 45 minutes away so needed someone local to the Randolph Motor Vehicle site. Response time was great, the instructor Christina was amazing, and road test complete and passed! Highly recommend Approach Driving School!!

Fantastic experience: I needed a car for a Road Test with the handbrake between seats. I chose service with 1/2 Hour Review, which was very important. Instructor Anna helped me get used to car and explained Parallel Parking. She was positive and nice. After the next half hour I passed the test and got my Driver License .

Fantastic experience: Amazing place! Our daughter’s teacher canceled on her 12 hours before her road test with no contingency plans. After 8 pm we reached out to Approach on their emergency text service and within 10 minutes they called us back and set her up for a refresher and her test when they had no obligation. My daughter loves them and, had we known, we would have gone there first. Top notch all around and no words can much how much we would recommend them. She passed and a huge thanks to Diane and Approach Driving School for saving the day! Don’t overthink this- they are incredibly gifted and caring. Thanks again!!!!

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about Approach. I contacted the school last minute, just days before my road test since I needed a car for my road test, I opted to also get a 1 hour review and Diane was quick and accommodating. I had my review with Christina who is very knowledgeable, funny and radiates good energy. She gave me all sorts of tips for my test and made sure I felt confident. She truly eased my anxiety and by the time I took the test I felt so calmed. Oh and I passed my exam on the first try! Needless to say I 100% recommend this driving school.

Fantastic experience: While we didn’t use Approach for actual driving hours, when we needed help Aporoach came to the rescue! When our driving school never showed up for the driver test for my daughter (we needed to use the drivers ed car for the pull up brake)-we were so worried & it was her actual birthday! While my daughter cried, I quickly called a few other places & Dianne fit us in and was able to give her a 20 min run through and use one of her cars for a very reasonable rate! We highly recommend Approach & will use them for our next daughter drivers ed in 3 years!

Fantastic experience: Excellent driving school. Mike Baranello was the instructor for our son--he instilled confidence, gave him great tips and advice in a calming presence. My son, who was initially quite anxious, passed his test with no issues. They also provided a location for practicing parallel parking and were totally available and responsive by text and phone. Diane, the owner was also really quick to reply, and the pricing was reasonable. Definitely use them! I highly recommend.

Negative experience: If I could leave a “0” stars I would. I scheduled to use one of their cars and instructors for my daughter’s driving test since I did not have a vehicle with a hand brake. Scheduled a week before the test. Approach reps confirmed date and time and advised they would meet us at the MVC test center and would call me when they arrived. They never showed up. Never called. Did not return my calls. Left us to scramble to find a substitute. Completely unprofessional. Impossible to contact all calls went Straight to voicemail. Based on my experience I wouldn’t recommend.

Fantastic experience: My review is late but the day the written test had taken place at school I had missed the time. With no makeup date due to covid I had to find a driving school that I could not only do my six hours but take my written test as well. My dad had looked and saw everyone else’s driving school prices were steep but then called Diane and she offered a great deal. She also offered to give me my written test that day I took the written test got a 94 on it and then I was assigned Mr. Fred who is a funny/ tough love kinda teacher, who was very understanding and relatable, calming to drive with, and someone you could honestly just talk with like you would with anyone while you drive. Classes went great and I drive great, so good school and really good instructor. Would recommend to anyone

Positive experience: FYI..just pay for the services up to the learner permit...after that it's not worth the additional cost of the road test and licensing because ultimately, they WILL leave you to the mercy of the broken system of the DMV. Instructor does not like to wait beyond 15 minutes for the kid to go in and get his license (15 min an unrealistic expectation) and will have students booked an hour after your kid without allowing the time necessary for him/her to achieve full completion of getting the DL. Been trying all day to get info on an appt and/or next steps.. So far been on hold 90+minutes w/DMV. THIS is exactly what I was trying to avoid when I signed up for the full service. On a good note Mr Fred is wonderful with the kids..sure wish we had him today!

Fantastic experience: I came across this service as I was searching to rent a car with a handbrake. I decided to take the hour long lesson with it since it was only a slight increase in price. My instructor, Christina Ferrante, was more than what I needed, wanted and expected. She thought me everything I missed, build up my self-confidence and did so much more! Would recommend 10/10 (ask for her as your instructor :)).

Fantastic experience: Great customer service, helped us navigate and understand the whole licensing process for my son.

Negative experience: Almost 1.5 yr later, still never found our lost birth certicate or other documents, made no attempt to make it right. Dissapointing to say the least.

Negative experience: There was an adult woman by herself, so no students in the car, stopped in the middle of the road to talk to a friend in another car also stopped in the middle of the road. They were both blocking traffic in each direction. When a car eventually honked, the driving school lady put her car in reverse to backup 2 feet not realizing there was a line of cars behind her and she was still blocking traffic. The other cars were now doing illegal U-turns in parking lots to just continue driving to their destination. After a few minutes the traffic had turned away, so the lady continued to stay in the middle of the road, still in reverse not moving, still talking to her friend. Let me say I have not done business with this company, only stating my observations. Such level of bad driving and inconsiderate behavior made me go out of my way to write this review. I would never trust a person with these morals to teach anyone I know how to drive if they cannot follow the laws themselves.

Positive experience: Happy so far! We just signed my 16 year old up for the lessons.

Fantastic experience: After a failed driving test a couple months earlier, I wanted to make sure I would be able to pass this time and I wanted to get a review class before next test to feel a little more confident. My second test was at Randolph (about an hour away from me) and I saw a lot of good reviews for Approach, so I decided to book an hour class before my test that day. Christina picked me up from the DMV and she explained how the Randolph test would go, helped me practice my turns, parallel parking, and k-turn. Basically, everything that was going to be on the test. I felt so much more confident after she explained everything slowly and made sure I understood and got it perfectly. I had taken a 6 hour course a couple months earlier in the town that I live in and I feel that her one hour course was so much helpful than the 6 hours I had done before. I took my test after the hour class with her and passed and I would definitely recommend her and Approach Driving School for anyone looking for help and extra practice

Fantastic experience: Approach Driving School gets you the results you need! After two failed road tests and two not-so-great instructors, I found Approach Driving School for my son, and they made all the difference. From start to finish, the entire experience was a pleasure. Communication was excellent with Diane in the office. My son's instructor, Christina, was amazing. She explained everything in detail so that there were no surprises or difficulties with the road test. She made him feel at ease and sure of himself. Fantastic experience: The cost to rent a car for the road test is actually really cheap in my opinion. 125$ for a hour lesson along with the car as well as 85$ for half a hour along with the car. The teachers there are really great. They try to make you comfortable and talk about themselves to put you at ease. They give you a lot of tips in parking, driving, stopping, etc. They also walk you along each test point step by step. They give you warnings and tell you what to be aware so as the driver, you are more than prepared. I really want to give my thanks to Diane. She was both gentle and stern throughout her teachings. I was able to pass with the parking technique she taught me. Thank you!

Negative experience: The worst driving school ever! The driving instructor are very Unprofessional and dose not provide you with enough practice on the road to successfully pass the driving test. I had to change instructors three times because how unorganized they are. They would often try to pull cheap tricks to waste time, talking on their phone , texting while teaching which is very Dangerous. I wish I could of read her previous bad reviews and wouldn’t gone to them. Stay away from this driving school!

Negative experience: Told me i could pay in cash a week ago saying it was 100 dollars then called me the day of my road test which is at 1:30 and told me i could only pay in credit card and that it was 125 for the hour review lesson and the car they are probably scam artist so beware please

Fantastic experience: Recently took my driving test with the assistance of this school. I had Bill as my instructor and in an hour he whipped me into shape just before my road test. I was able to easily pass it. Every step of the experience with Diane was easy from the booking to the payment. I highly recommend this school. P.S. Bill parallel parking method is sheer genius, I showed my coworkers my new found parallel parking skills he taught me and they thought I was some sort of wizard.

Negative experience: ATTENTION RANDOLPH FAMILIES AND SURROUNDING TOWNS STAY AWAY FROM THIS DRIVING SCHOOL! They loose your original documents with no remorse for the effort it takes to regain them not to mention holding up your child from driving. Diane is only interested in numbers of students she obtains as it was obvious she is unable to handle original documentation from her own lock box to the DMV.

Negative experience: Lost Birth Certificate & SSN & didnt care! Then found out this has occurred with them before. Please be aware there maybe identity fraud going on here.

Fantastic experience: A+ Service- Exceeded my expectations. I needed a car last minute, literally the morning of the driver's test for my daughter. We found out the night before the car we were supposed to use broke down. I tried every family member and friend. I tried calling all the car rental places. I used the emergency text service on their website and they were able to get us a car and practice within hours of her test! Diane at Approach was incredibly pleasant, professional and wonderful! She made my daughter feel comfortable and prepared and she passed her test! Thank you for the amazing service!

Negative experience: Very poor experience. I had taken a 2 hr practice test (for $200) yesterday just before my driving practice with an instructor named Bill. I failed my test at parallel parking. But I think I would have written the same review even if I had passed - 1. While teaching parallel parking, he said we don't have to use the right mirror at all at any point of time. I asked him twice if I need to adjust the mirror for my gauge of how far I am from the curb, how straight the car is .. but he emphatically said no and I couldn't override him much 2. Though it was a 2 hour test, he kept asking after 1.5 hrs if I was confident enough to go for the test repeatedly. I think that was very unprofessional and he should have finished the 2 hour slot irrespective of how I was doing! I am not sure if these issues are specific to the instructor or because 2 hr was a rare time anyone would take! Not sure if the driving school conveys these guidelines to them. Every youtube video or website I see for tips of parallel parking clearly talks about using left/right/center mirrors and looking back. I am surprised he actually emphatically said I don't need to use the right mirror at all. Just be careful!

Negative experience: BEWARE DO NOT TRUST YOUR CHILD WITH THIS SCHOOL! The instructor was very harsh and treated my kid as if he should already know how to drive. He talked down to him and made him more nervous then before he got in the car. The instructor was 45 minutes late, LOOKED AT HIS CELL PHONE MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE LESSON, was supposed to teach for 2 hours and showed up less then an hour and a half later, rushed off without even discussing the lesson and my kid burst into tears as soon as the instructor left. The owner is no better, she jumped to the defense of her employee and never let me explain it from my sons perspective and refused to refund me the half I paid up front and hung up on me when I was trying to explain my sons side. The most unprofessional place I have ever encountered. In response to the business owners reply, it is clearly her driving instructors word against my sons. And my sons dad never said my son has problems with most tasks. That is a blatant lie. My son is a full time student at college, and was on Deans List both semesters at Montclair state University. So if he has issues with "most tasks" I don't think he would be doing so well in college. With that said the owner has proven she took the word of her driver and completely dismissed my concerns and hung up on me. I never said to fire the driver, I simply asked for a refund based on the drivers late arrival, not giving the full time of instruction and his disrespectful nasty treatment of my son. She refused my request, and could care less how my son was treated. I have heard since then, terrible things about this driving school and wanted to be sure I posted this warning. I had since found another school, D&G who were fantastic, kind and patient. I would recommend going to D&G and avoid Approach at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to instructor Diane. She made herself available last minute, did a 30 minute test review, and we have a licensed teenager in our house now. The last minute booking option is really awesome. I was personally told by DMV that we could use an Enterprise rental, which is totally false. The last minute option saved the day!

Fantastic experience: My daughter had a great experience with Approach Driving School. They were very timely, patient, and knowledgeable. They were great on getting back to me and answering my questions. It was very easy to register and a smooth process. As a parent I highly recommend Approach.

Negative experience: Horrible cust. service I scheduled on their website for a 4 pm review and car service for 1 month later. They emailed me said they only on up to 3:30pm. I changed the schedule with DMV and let them know 3:30 is fine. Then they sent me another email saying they only do it up to 2:30 pm. Horrible!!! If you only do it up to certain time, why don't spell it out on your website??? Or, that's a way of profiling and refusing services to certain people

Fantastic experience: Mubashra Sheikh is the perfect teacher!! I was able to do a hour practice before testing and w/o any problem passed easily!!! She really knows how to teach you and give you a lot of confidence so you can succeed on the road test.The experience of getting a getting a license driver can be very frustrating with documentation and everything, but I`m happy that in the end could have the opportunity to know this instructor. I highly recommend her to any one and will do so for all my friends.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Approach Driving School was excellent. I did an hour review before my driving test and my intructor, Mubashra, was both very kind and very vivid in her advice. We went through all the compenenta of the driving test together and she made sure I was prepared. In all, it was greatly worth-while and I passed with ease thanks to them!

Positive experience: UPDATE 11/21/2016: Diane had reached back out to us and had not only found the document but had extended an offer to make things right. I feel satisfied with her response. ORIGINAL POST: Came recommended by our Daughter's friend's family. Lost an original copy of our daughter's birth certificate. Offered to pay for replacement copy of the certificate - which is a given. Offered nothing in return for the loss of an original document. Diane knew how many students signed up this week off the top of her head - the second indication that numbers are most important here - not the students or service provided. Do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: My daughter lost her permit, they did the extra paperwork to get her a new one and even offered to come to the DMV if needed. When we had random questions they answered them. They go the extra mile to make sure you pass. Once your 6 hours are done they still stick by you. Much better than the school I used for my older daughter.

Fantastic experience: My instructor was Mobashar Sheik. She is very good Nd friendly , she will teach us according to our mindset . I had my driver license Nd I was nervous to drive, but after completing my 6 hr class with her I started driving very confidently, now am driving . Thanks Mobashar☺.

Fantastic experience: I just passed my road test last week and I'm very much Pleased and Happy with Approach Driving School Service. It was a Great experience working with Diane and Mubashara!! Their knowledge was very Informative and were very kind to explain about the process in detail. Fantastic experience: As an adult I was nervous to be on a road I knew next to nothing about, since I grew up on the islands where there was no real need to drive. My instructor, Mubashra Sheik, was very understanding and kind while getting me used to the road and driving. I had cursory knowledge of turning and just driving, but nothing like the amount of info she relayed in a small amount of time. I went in for my test, entirely nervous but capable. I loved that she explained what the test would be like and calmed my fears about being on the highway. Thanks, from Kadyann!

Fantastic experience: My instructor was Mubashra Sheik. She was very gentle and expressive. Though, I knew driving and parking as an amateur but I was weak at some things i.e. making wide left turns and about the steering positions. She taught me how to make your steering straight and move the steering to make an accurate turn so we do not enter the other lane on yellow line. She worked on my weak points and with some attention I was able to get my license in 3rd test. previous 2 times my test center was Wayne and the instructor were not clear and comfortable like Mubashra. Thank you Mubashra, for your your techniques and also making me comfortable as I was really nervous because I was giving the road test for third time. They also have very reasonable price.

Fantastic experience: Approach Driving School was a great experience to have. For the 6 hours I had Ray who was great. He made sure to give enough breathing room so you can learn on your own while also knowing when to step in if needed. We also had a great conversation as well. For the review the hour before I had Mubashra who was also great. She was able to refresh everything I needed to pass my test and even improved my turning skills as a plus. Additionally, Diane was also very helpful as she was able to answer any questions I had regarding times, when, and where to get picked up.

Fantastic experience: Better than expected! We came to the school after my daughter failed her driving test on parallel parking. Diane was a true pleasure to deal with, very knowledgeable and assuring. The school offers many flexible options for training which is a great thing, and their pricing is very reasonable. Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience with Approach Driving School from the first time I had my vision test and filled in the paper work to the six hours with my instructor Mubashra. Mubashra is an excellent instructor who thoroughly goes over all the details and helps if one forgets a step in doing something. I had a great time during my six hours driving instruction with Mubashra and I hope to return to review for my road test next year.

Fantastic experience: Probably the only time I have felt good about going to the DMV. They assigned Mubashra to help me do a review before my test. I had been driving in the US on an international permit, but its not the same when you are giving your test. My parallel parking and K turns were rusty, but she was able to teach me techniques that I was able to grasp within minutes! More than anything, she was very patient with me because I was messing up the first few times. I did just as she told me and I passed the test. Having failed a test before, I feel elated and have to thank the nice lady at Approach. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I have the pre-test session and also used the car for the road test.. and guess what.. the pre test session was so appropriate, it help me really well during the road test. Thanks for the lessons. I would highly recommend the pre-test session before the actual road test.

Fantastic experience: I used them to prepare my son for his road test. I told the instructor that he has never even attempted to parallel park so he needed to work on that. The instructor assured me that he had a "method"...I was pretty sure that that may not be possible and then after the 1hr lesson watched him parallel park his way through and passed his test. Great job...Great instructor and the owner Diane is a really nice lady too. A 1 hr lesson right before the test using their car was all it took.

Fantastic experience: This was the best driving school I have ever encountered. Not only did they make me feel at ease before my test but they took me through the steps I needed to pass the test. I would not have a license without them. They not only did all this but they did it with great customer service and a smile.I would recommend approach to anyone looking for a quality driving school.

Negative experience: I went for my driving test and find out that I cannot use my car because of the middle console did not allowed access to the break. I really wanted to do my test so I saw a car from this driving school and I called them, they came pretty fast and told me it will be $60 which I paid cash. Once the lady arrived she was in such a rush she wanted me to do the test right and there not time to fix and get comfortable with the car or anything. I was obviously nerves and didn't think that is not a good choice so I went for it and failed. The way I was threated and rushed maybe was the cause that I failed or maybe not but just can tell you that in my case they only wanted to cash the money. I wont recommend them at all

Fantastic experience: We love Approach Driving School! My son enjoyed working with Don and he was well prepared for his driving test. Don was very responsive to all of our questions and was able to put my son at ease before he took is road test.

Fantastic experience: My daughter was a nervous wreck the day of her driving test. We taught her to drive ourselves and she is a great driver, but I wanted her to be comfortable with the vehicle she was taking the test in. Diane Sullivan was FANTASTIC. Not only did she fit us in (because I didn't realize she couldn't take the test in my car), she did the review session with my daughter just prior to the actual test. She made her feel comfortable and confident. All that a parent could ask for! My daughter passed the test with absolutely no problems! I highly recommend Approach Driving School!
