Fantastic experience: This is coming from a teen driver- I had an absolutely wonderful experience with this company, scheduling process was very easy and fast, and very accommodating. My driving instructor was amazing!! I had never been behind a wheel in my life and she made me feel so comfortable and secure driving. She would show me what to do while explaining, then let me try and continued to walk me through it. Very helpful for anxious drivers. I have nothing to complain about, everything was wonderful.

Fantastic experience: Toms River Driving School made getting my first driver’s permit a breeze. Albert was an “amazing teacher” according to my 16 year old and I have to agree. I’m sure they’ll be teaching my other 5 to drive! And, my daughter has already recommended Albert to her friends!

Negative experience: 2nd time using them and it didn't go as well. Larry is not a great instructor at all. He showed up and asked ME why we booked two- 3 hour sessions and not the norm of three- 2 hour sessions. I told him to ask his boss, that was what she had available so I took it. My child said he was unattentive at times, on his phone a few times and made her nervous because of this and a few other things. I guess 3 hours was too much because both days he was driving back to the house. I took my child out right after lessons and she could not even turn properly. He only took her on side streets around my neighborhood for her lessons. It was so bad I had to hire someone else from another school. So glad I did, he was the best. She felt so much more confortable with him and was able to drive feeling confident and comfortable. She drove the entire perimeter around Ocean County for 2 hours and since then driving was great! Sorry I had to spend extra money for additional lessons, but SO worth it !

Negative experience: Flat left my daughter for her driving test. Owner Deana Licata doesn't care. Didn't try to perform service recovery. Didn't take responsibility for her error. Driving instructor chose male instead of female on my daughters learning permit. Requested a female instructor and was told yes, and then a male was only available. STAY AWAY

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! Deana was so patient, kind, and encouraging. She made the entire process as smooth as possible - I was new to everything as this was my oldest son, and Deana explained everything clearly, was always available to answer questions, made all arrangements, and did it all with a smile. My son went into the driving test more confident in his abilities than nervous, and passed. I hope Deana is available for my younger son when his time comes!!!

Negative experience: As I am taking my niece driving now, I am learning that Patty did not help her at all with her confidence, nor did she really help her hone in on any skills. Patty told my sister that my niece was not ready for the open road, meaning she had spent the entirety of 6 hours practicing in a parking lot. For the anxious, insecure, super nervous kids, this probably is not the best driving school.

Fantastic experience: Phil walsh was my instructor, such a cool dude, he gave me tips, was very helpful, and very clear on when talking about road signs and parallel parking and k turn. Oh and hit him up if you need a DJ.

Fantastic experience: I have to say that Patty is a wonderful driving instructor. She is kind, and patient and made my teen daughter feel comfortable behind the wheel. My daughter now has an excellent foundation to build upon after her 6 hours behind the wheel. Patty picked her up directly from school for her lessons which was such a big help and convenience. Even went out of her way again on a Saturday to bring over her official permit!! A great experience!!! Thank you so much :)

Negative experience: They moved appointments on us multiple times before the first trip even happened which we were completely fine with. The day of my wife’s first trip, she had to reschedule after catching Covid. They wanted to charge us $50 as a rescheduling fee to which my wife replied that she had to reschedule today no matter what as she wouldn’t be able to go. She was called back 10 minutes later to reschedule for 3 days later. When she expressed that she was unsure of how contagious she would still be and concerned with cancellation fees and that she would let them know when she was feeling a little better, they hung up the phone on her. I’m guessing they haven’t heard of Covid and would have preferred that she went anyway. Also, I usually charge $100 for my rescheduling fee but was willing to waive mine for their convenience when they asked us to reschedule several times. It’s a shame they couldn’t do the same.

Fantastic experience: I just finished my 6 hours and let me just say I am so happy with this driving school , especially my instructor Patty, she was amazing, if your someone with anxiety you should DEFINITELY go with her, she’s a great talker and really keeps your mind in the right places! such a fun person and an even better instructor ! I was very nervous in the beginning but after like 10 minutes Patty really calmed me down , Would recommend this driving school as well as Patty the instructor to ANYONE ! Thank youuu patty :) Update: Just passed my road test thanks to patty! She was amazing as always, great instructor, went back to her after my 6 hours with my parallel parking a bit questionable but thanks to her i passed my road test, she stressed it that if you listen to her you will pass and god is she right!! Toms river driving school definitely gave me a great experience, and they’re instructors ESPECIALLY PATTY are amazing! The owner is kind and great to talk too as well! Overall i’ve had not one but two amazing experiences with them! Highly recommend TRDS!!

Fantastic experience: Patty is absolutely the best driving instructor, it’s because of her I passed my road test ! I have super bad anxiety and thought I was going to fail, but she is super sweet, laid back and patient that she made me feel so comfortable and confident. If I didn’t understand something or had a hard time with something (like I did with parallel parking) she made sure to be patient and calm with me reassuring me that I was going to get it. I honestly am so happy I came across Toms River driving school but most importantly having Patty as my driving instructor ! Thank you so much Patty !!

Fantastic experience: I signed my daughter up for her driving permit in October 2021. She was assigned to “Karen” as her instructor. My daughter was very nervous, scared, and had all the jitters anyone could experience. Karen was very professional, very very through with going over everything and put my daughter at ease! She offered very much information and took her time explaining throughout the lessons! I highly recommend Karen and this school for your child’s driving school! Couldn’t be any happier!!! ✅✅

Fantastic experience: My experience with Toms River Driving School was absolutely amazing, specifically due to my instructor Patty. She lets you get comfortable behind the wheel to gain confidence before throwing you onto busy streets, which better prepares you to drive with other cars. She focuses on your weak points in each lesson and is extremely patient. Moving from North Jersey I was very nervous learning how to drive in an area I was not at all familiar with, but TRDS and Patty are THE BEST. I've used other driving schools in the past but I never felt as confident as I do now and that's all thanks to Patty! I did the 6hr package which included driving basics needed to pass the test and learning to drive on the parkway. I have never had so many key driving concepts learned/honed with any other school. You will learn how to pass the test and more importantly how to really drive with Toms River Driving School, just ask for Patty.

Fantastic experience: We used Toms River Driving School for our twin daughters 6 hours and for the refresher and road test . They provided excellent training and were efficient . We dealt with Karen and Sharon and they were amazing from start to finish. With COVID hitting the girls tests were postponed and they were there to help us reschedule and take care of all the paperwork with all the DMV issues . Both of them made the experience easier and less stressful ! Big thanks again to Karen and Sharon !

I have to say that we had the best experience with this school. The instructor Patty is super nice, very knowledgeable, and a reliable person. My son felt very confident driving with her. Dena, the school's owner, is a very professional and accommodating person. My son had to change the appointments for his driving classes because of his busy schedule and they were very flexible to do so. Before his road test, Patty took him to practice an hour before and he passed it on his first try. I HIGHLY recommend choosing Toms River Driving School for anyone looking to get on the road!

Fantastic experience: My instructor, Karen, was the best person I could of had to guide me through my 6 hour lessons. Though it was my first time ever getting behind the wheel, she made everything seem as easy as it gets! I took my my 6 hour lessons back in July, and since then I've been more confident and comfortable with driving. I take my road test this upcoming Summer, and everything for the road test has been scheduled since I received my permit. Very organized, and I highly recommend this driving school. I warmly recommend Karen as an instructor!

Fantastic experience: My wife's permit didn't convert to NJ Motor Vehicle, so she needed to have a refresher course before taking her driving test. I didn't want my wife driving with a man because I believed she would be more comfortable with a lady. We called TRDS, and I asked for a lady and my wife's driving instructor turned out to be a lot better than I expected. Not only did she get a lady but a great lady. Patty my wife's instructor has got this way of making a new driver feel at ease. My wife and I got to know her a little bit over the couple times she was our instructor and accompanied my wife to the driving test. Patty is top notch. I can't believe my wife passed so well when she went for her driving test. Oh that's rite Patty I DO BELIEVE. Tripped on my words again. Seriously if you want an easy time driving and taking your road test ask for Patty. It'll happen you'll get your license!

Fantastic experience: When I was starting to learn to drive, I was incredibly nervous. But by the end of my 6 hours with Patty, I wasn't nervous anymore. Patty was an amazing instructor.
