Vista Ridge Driving School: Reviews
Negative experience: Terrible experience called to ask for information and receptionist was very rude, she hanged up the phone as i was asking questions.
Fantastic experience: They taught me very useful information, and thanks to them I aced my test.
Negative experience: Do not waste your money! This business teaches the driver to pass the driving test, not drive. The test they have and teach is very basic. They do not take the driver anywhere that goes above 40 to 45 miles per hour. They stay within a few miles of the school, which is mostly in a residential area. They do the same driving lessons each time they drive. Not to mention, the ladies behind the desk are very rude. They were rude each and every time I had any contact with them. It is also difficult to schedule the lessons with them. I was going to give them 1 star, but I did like the fact that we can get the drivers license with the drivers test. That is the one per or good thing from this company. I regret spending my money with them
The training is basic for a new driver. We teach the mandated 14 hours that the state requires. In order for the student to master the basic driving skills, driving through neighborhoods allows the student to concentrate on the basic techniques' of driving without being overwhelmed by the traffic on our congested streets. The state requires that the parent provide an additional 30 hours behind the wheel to master the basic driving techniques. Scheduling for all driving lessons and final road test is done online. Also, we do offer electronic submittal of the students paperwork, so that an additional trip to DPS is not necessary.
Fantastic experience: Great experience! Staff was helpful and timely! Thank you for helping us get everything filed correctly!
Thank you for being a repeat customer. Be safe out there!
Fantastic experience: I was recently there over the weekend the take my road test, and everyone there was very kind and helpful. Over the last year, I completed the whole driving learning program there from drivers ed to road test. While it was intimidating at first and maybe not the most enjoyable experience it definitely paid off. They lay out instructions very clearly and make the process relatively simple. As long as you trust them and actually do what they tell you, you are almost guaranteed to pass the test and drive correctly on the road. I would definitely recommend driving school there because everyone was very very helpful ☺️. P.S. I will say there are definitely times where it seems instructors or others have attitude but I think that’s just because they don’t sugarcoat when you do something wrong. Overall, they are just very quick to point out mistakes, but that helped me because I would rather be corrected in the safety of a drive time with an instructor and not learn the hard way on the road by myself. I never noticed any attitude from office employees, maybe some from the blonde lady but I think that’s just her personality. Everyone else was pretty good.
Yes, the information here (for driving) is very important. You are correct this is a adult activity, driving a car! Thank you.
Fantastic experience: 17 Jan 2025- I brought my daughter to Vista Ridge Driving School for her road test. Unfortunately I didnt read the back of her permit and we were 5 days early (for 6 month minimum of having a learners permit)and had to reschedule. I cannot thank the staff at the driving school enough for their understanding of our mistake- and appreciate so much how easy it was to reschedule. The staff also explained things very thoroughly. Much better experience than any time I have to go to the DMV. Appreciate all yall do with our teens!! Thank you!! 24 Jan 2025- our rescheduled appointment- THANK YOU!!! We were a bit early (as it states to arrive early for your appointment)- and they were able to get all our information ( it makes it so much easier since they let you know ahead of time all documents that need to be provided). My daughter was able to take her road test- the staff was very positive and encouraging. SO appreciated. And taking it a step further, since I had not made an appointment at the DMV to get the license- Vista Ridge let me know I could fill out the paper document, create an account online and was able to process all the paperwork. I think if people read the instructions that are very clear and actually follow them- everyone will have a positive experience. We were treated in a professional and kind manner. Thanks Vista Ridge!!
Your kindness is appreciated.
Negative experience: I took my test here with an instructor named Brenda. She wasn’t friendly at all and had a serious attitude problem. made me wonder why people like this are doing these customer service jobs? After i passed the test, my mom opened the envelope we received from my instructor (containing my proof of passing the road test, my online drivers ed certificate, and my drivers safety certificate. my mom was instructed not to open the envelope. She thought this was because they didn’t want her to loose anything inside of it, so she opened the envelope to make sure we had everything we would need for the DMV. We drove an hour away to a DMV which turned us away because the envelope we provided was opened. we called Vista Ridge driving school and told them our mistake. They made sure to make us feel very stupid about the situation. when we went back the next day to try and get a new seal ed envelope, the staff was completely unprofessional and greeted us with the upmost disrespect. I didn’t get a name, as i was shocked at the lack of professionalism. she was blonde and looked to be maybe in 50s. after scolding my mom and making her seem like a complete fool, she tore up the envelope containing all of my important documents and certificates. which wasn’t hers to rip up. she then closed her door and told us to get out. we got out and when i tried to come back by myself, without my mom. i approached her respectfully and she yelled at me and told me to not come back (im sixteen and this grown woman was screaming at me)
We have reviewed the film and audio footage. This is not how these events unfolded. First, your Mom called beforehand and was told when to be here for her appointment and she was late. The instructor was gone. You were told not to open the envelope and why. Opening the envelope voids the test.
Fantastic experience: I recommend the crap out of this place to my friend and his mom still chose another driver’s school, like why? This is one of the best places to take your driver’s test. They give you a practice route, have cones to practice parallel parking, and everything to make you successful for the test. If you live close by in the Argyle area, I don’t know why you’d want to choose any other driver school to take the test. When Vista Ridge gives you a practice route that will be very familiar on test day. Recommend this place!
Thank you for choosing us! Safe travels.
Negative experience: If I could give this driving school 0 stars, I would. My son attempted to take his driving test there three times. It cost him $125.00, then each time he was rescheduled, it was $25.00. Granted that he didn't know he needed to watch a video and present a certificate of proof, but they charged his debit card anyway. When he returned, he was all of 3 minutes late with no one else waiting to test, so it was rescheduled and he was charged another $25.00. The third time he arrived without his paperwork because he thought the receptionist had made copies of his paperwork. Charging $25.00 to reschedule is a scam. No services have been rendered, and he's out $150.00 or more. He disputed the claim with his bank and rightfully so since NO services were rendered. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I highly recommend you look at reviews and go to another school. In 2023 my son went to the school and found the receptionist asleep on the desk. Where is the professionalism? They are never busy. There is never a line. You'd be better off standing in line at the DMV and paying $75.00. This business should close its doors.
To clarify, these appointments were for your son who is over 21 years old. Each time he came into the office he was missing the required paperwork. This happened twice and your son paid for the appointment online, then in person for a reschedule. Those appointments require an instructor, who is hired to come in for testing. Nothing is a scam. All required documents are listed on our website for testing purposes.
Fantastic experience: The 2 ladies that helped me today were very kinda and understanding. We had gone up their before with the incorrect paper work and they showed up what we needed and where to get it from. Highly recommend. FYI they don't allow rentals or cars without a front license plate.
Thank you! It was great having you as a customer!
Fantastic experience: My daughter went through Vista Ridge Driving School a couple of years ago and now my son! I could not be happier with their instruction and communication!
We appreciate you so much!
Negative experience: DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY First and foremost worst company ever, if you have to cancel your appointment due to any emergency there is an additional $50 fee. You have to wait 4 days in between driving appointments and you only have a certain amount of time to finish classes (they do not work with you given it can take up to 4 months to even get your child’s permit) also it’s an additional fee to even take your driving test. Do not use this place!!! This is the worst company I have ever dealt with, I had to cancel one appointment due to an emergency and had a dr’s note and still got locked out of their system and a huge fee! They will not work with you or your child!! You do not get ANYTHING for your $500. In conclusion the DMV has better customer service!
There is no Kassi Ruth in our database. The DMV doesn't handle driver's license at all. Most of what is stated is false. We work with lots of people throughout this process, but there are rules as with any school of any kind. We do sell packages and for $449 you do get a lot with *many hours* involved. We cover all topics, we cover with your child how to get a permit, and how to move through this process with absolute ease.
Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with Vista Ridge Driving school. The office was friendly, fast and helpful.
Thank you for choosing us!
Negative experience: Worst driving school ever! Very rude instructors, both of them yelling and belittling the drivers, saying that they would fail me if I schedule a test in less than three weeks, screaming at me while driving, screaming at me before driving, having an attitude before even saying hello, I understand that you don't need to be too friendly with the students but there is no reason to be rude and abusing !!! If you have a driving license abroad and you want to get your driving license in the US please don't choose this school. I attempted the test twice here and I left with a panic attack both times, I was in tears after the first test because the instructor kept yelling at me. Not giving me time to understand what she says even after I told her that English is not my first langage. Very short tempered and mean, the second one was obviously told not to yell at me but that didn't stop her from snapping and belittling me. I have been driving for more than 10 years abroad and she told me that I basically am unable to drive at all now and I need unlimited training. I ended up going to another school, passed first time, no stress, no crying and no yelling, I wasn't even aware that he was testing me, I thought we were going for a short drive before the test and I made no mistakes Long story short : don't go to this school if you have dignity or hate rudeness :)
So, sorry you feel this way. You came here for a test (twice). We tried our best to help you. We gave you lots of feedback for correction. You did several dangerous acts which goes against the State of Texas standards and thus is a failure. If someone gave you a test (somewhere else) and it didn't seem like it was a test, then they were not administering the test correctly (per the state's standards).
Negative experience: My mom was mistreated over the phone. She had called to ask a question and the instructor who answered the phone was so rude and hang up the phone. So that’s why I give it a one star ⭐️.Even tho I passed my driving test. And no there was no call drop or anything the lady was just plain rude. -Luke Robb
Great to hear from YOU! When people call in screaming and using a car speaker, blue tooth or other devices, it is difficult to hear them. Your Mom was rather upset when you let your permit expire. We have ALL the recorded conversations. We are so HAPPY that you passed your driving test because you were our student!
Fantastic experience: Our son just finished this program and passed his road test on the first try. Vista Ridge was a very positive experience for us as a family. They explained their processes to us and helped us through all the paperwork requirements. While it isn't always easy to schedule lessons far in advance, they were able to accommodate us on a consistent basis that got us through the program without any delays. Our son liked all of his instructors and we found the staff to friendly and helpful. Our experience was very positive.
Thank you for choosing us and we are so happy you passed your driving test!!! Hooray!
Negative experience: I recently made a phone call to inquire about the requirements for taking a road exam, and unfortunately, my experience with the lady who answered my call was quite unpleasant. I didn't get her name. Throughout the entire conversation, she spoke to me in a condescending manner and displayed a judgmental attitude. While I understand that individuals may have bad days and dislike their jobs, there was no justification for her to direct her frustrations towards a young woman who simply sought additional information. I had inquiries regarding the necessary documentation for taking a road exam. As a 22-year-old with disabilities, I possess a Certificate rather than a permit, as I was unable to obtain my license at a younger age. The DMV requires me to undergo a road exam and provide the appropriate paperwork. However, she insisted that I must possess a permit in order to take the exam with them. She proceeded to shame me for not having one and even went as far as stating that I would never pass the road test at the DMV due to my alleged lack of driving skills. I attempted to explain to her that a friend had taught me how to drive and that I had also completed an online course. However, her response was to question whether I was driving illegally and what would happen if I were to cause an accident and harm someone. The truth is that I learned to drive in the manner I did because I could not afford an expensive driving course. I am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to obtain my license and drive independently. There was absolutely no reason for her to interrogate me and make me feel belittled when all I needed were answers to my questions.
Yes, as we have said, you must have a permit to take a road test at any third party testing facility. This is a State of Texas requirement. You must have a permit to be out on the road.
Fantastic experience: We are Flower Mound residents and are absolutely GRATEFUL to have Vista Ridge in our community! They helped us prepare because we LISTENED and let them do their job. As a parent: “It is YOUR job as a FAMILY to prepare for your son or daughters driving test! Vista Ridge is a median to get you there!” My son Davis passed today, Sept 2023, with a 92 (minor dings for not looking in his side mirrors). Amazing parallel parking in a big SUV! So the little sedans should be very easy for kids. From the moment we first arrived to obtaining our passing envelope we appreciate the Professionalism of the staff! SIDE NOTE: My daughter, a Senior at FM High went to the Lewisville DPS and they are very strict and very RUDE - we never experienced this at Vista Ridge! Drive the necessary hours to gain the CONFIDENCE it takes to be SAFE on our streets.
Thank you so much for being our customer. You did a wonderful job at home as well! Happy Safe Driving.
Fantastic experience: My son participated in the classroom and driving instruction offered by Vista Ridge and he was very happy with the instructors, their communication and he felt prepared upon completion of the program. Jake took his road test through the Vista Ridge this morning and the process was organized, the staff was pleasant and he felt comfortable during his test and as details were explained.
Thank you for your business!
Negative experience: The driving examiner screamed at me during the road test, saying that I would get us killed! It was extremely unprofessional and quite upsetting. There was a way to criticize my performance without shouting. I hope others have a better experience at this school.
Your name is not in our database. Please call with any concerns, so that we can sort this out. Did you do something very dangerous? After further research, no one screamed at you. The instructor had to repeat many times.
Fantastic experience: My son had his road test today. Overall an absolute pleasure on the experience. We were checked in upon arrival, documents presented, and instructions were clear, concise and organized. The driving instructor was very strict but fair. I highly recommend this driving school. They actually will not pass you if you’re not ready. Prepare your kids for the road, not the road for your kids.
Negative experience: I passed and got my License but the lady was rude even though I did great on my test but she just seems so negative for a big thing in most peoples lives, I wish they were more supportive.
Safety is our number one priority. It's great you passed! But, more importantly you need to know what to correct for your safety out on the road.
Negative experience: I called to just get some basic information and the person I spoke to was RUDE! She wasn't clear in her explanation and when I was trying to understand she became combative so I explained I would not be doing business with them and disconnected the call. SHE CALLED ME BACK! I explained that I didn't like the combative attitude I was shown and that's why I disconnected the call. She stated and I quote " YOU DON'T KNOW ME SO YOU DON'T KNOW IF I AM GIVING AN ATTITUDE." I am trying to help my son navigate getting a license as an adult (even though he's in high school and 18/) It is a very confusing process and attitudes and the unprofessionalism of CALLING A POTENTIAL CLIENT BACK to get your last word is unacceptable. I hope the owner sees this and takes action because if you continue to allow employees to act this way, your business will go under.
After reviewing the phone call, I would have to disagree. When you hung up she didn't know if the call was dropped or what happened. So, yes she called back to try and provide the information that you called and asked her for regarding a driver's license for an adult.
Fantastic experience: They were great. Easy to set up the appointment. Gave you a list of everything needed to do the driving test. Arrived didn't have to wait. So great to have a company that provides such excellent service. Thanks to the staff.
We appreciate your business. Thank you
Fantastic experience: My three kids took the driving test with Vista Ridge although we did parent taught. All three passed the driving test. I'm thankful for the driving instructors telling them what they could improve on. So helpful! Mikayla at the front desk is so very helpful. She answered all of my questions and concerns.
Thank you for recognizing us. Safe Travels.
Negative experience: DONT waste your money here. Read all reviews before booking them, wish I would have read how bad and unprofessional they are. This place told us the wrong time for our private lesson, and because they are booked back to back they couldnt get us in on the same day. I did call them before we headed their way to confirm, but no one answered. Also, no one called us to say we were "missing" our spot when they realized we were not there at the time they allegedly had us booked. There is no intention in their process to care for their client, just to take our money. I called the next day to try to re-book and was asked to pay for the class again! They were not professional, not courteous and did not try to work with us. Just said we would need to pay again for something we had already paid! So unfair, they basically took our money but did not provide the service. DONT BOOK WITH THEM. And again, just read a few of their reviews and you will see.
We are truly sorry you are upset and feel this way. Any appointment must be paid for in advance because we have to hire an instructor. You confirmed an appointment and didn't show up to it. There is no need to write multiple reviews about it.
Negative experience: I would have given this business a zero if possible. These crooks took my money and told me the wrong time. Then wanted me to pay again to take the same class.
Fantastic experience: I went to Vista Ridge to have my driving test done. It was good. I used one of their cars ($50 extra to use theirs I believe) as I felt more comfortable with a smaller vehicle for the test. The instructor told me what I failed to do during the test which I took as constructive criticism. The lady at the front counter was very friendly and helpful along with the driving instructor. Most teens taking their driving test are very nervous so my only suggestion would be to encourage the student and get to know them so they’ll feel more comfortable; that’s just my opinion because I think differently than other teens and I take things in a constructive manner. Other than that, I give this school 5 stars. Big thanks to the instructor and the staff.
Thank you for your kind words.
Negative experience: I’ve been there twice for a road test and both times were awful experiences. I’ve never felt the need to write a bad review before but I felt very disrespected both occasions. I understand that you’re not going to be the happiest as an instructor and the point isn’t to be the students best friend, the first time I was completely ignored, wasn’t told the rules and seemed like I was going to be failed from the beginning based on how I was dressed. The second time I decided to dress in a way that was more palatable. The second instructor yelled at me and visibly made sure that she was angry with me during the parallel parking which just made me burst out in tears. I don’t wish anything bad on anyone but please just practice patience with your students and who you’re i instructing a road test for.
Disrespected? Ignored? The first time you were told the rules. Beyond that, the instructor just tells you were to turn. Just like everybody else that takes a test. How you were dressed? I'd have to take a look at our cameras again. So, the first test you must've done something to cause the fail and had to come back and test again. I'm so sorry your emotions got in the way during the test by crying.
Negative experience: I wish I could give less than a one star. The do have some great people there. The driving instructors are wonderful. My son loved them. There is also one lady there who is so sweet and has excellent customer service. That older lady is terrible rude mean and when I hear her voice I just hang up. I've never dislike someone this bad. I wanted to transfer to another school and she would not transfer my sons stuff because she said it had been a year when the limit is actually two. I went down to DPS who also verified this to be true and I had to send an email off to the Texas department of licensing and regulation and filed a complaint w the BBB.
I'm sorry you feel this way. We strive to do our best and follow all rules by the State of Texas. You have called more than 4 times about the same matter and asking the same questions. Vista Ridge Driving School offered you several solutions. Several people have talked with you about this matter. You had a contract and your son did not complete Driver's Education.
Fantastic experience: My daughter had a great experience, she took classes and her driving test with Vista Ridge. Scheduling drive times was easy. The instructors and staff are wonderful.
We enjoyed having your daughter in class! Thank you for the kind words.
Fantastic experience: Vista Ridge was the best choice I made, I am an adult, had to take 4 private driving lessons and the Dps road test with Vista, everything went really smooth. Had to mention my instructor Johnathan was so professional and have to appreciate his level of patience, the office staff was very friendly with all calls made n was really helpful…truly recommend
Thank you so much for choosing us!
Negative experience: I notice that our first review was deleted, so I'm following up. Vista Ridge was less than accommodating when we needed to print one form. They would not let us print there and would not wait for us to have a printed copy brought from 10 minutes away. We were not allowed a refund. We had a much better experience at different driving school, who accommodated us when we used the wrong color of ink. (These forms are so specific!) The other school gave 5 star service and I would look into options other than Vista Ridge Driving School.
As you stated, you came without the required printed forms. We had appointments scheduled after your scheduled appointment time. You chose to just sit down when the receptionist tried to discuss the situation. My guess is the "other school" had time in their day/schedule to accommodate such.
Negative experience: Very rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend anyone to go and do business with this company. Just read the negative reviews, it is a pattern.
You were not our customer. In fact, you were never in our building. The cameras were reviewed thoroughly.
Negative experience: Instructor was unnecessarily rude to my husband and daughter. Created a very negative experience on what should have been an exciting day. My daughter passed, but is beyond upset. She put in the work and has been practicing with a police officer for months. No reason this test should have been this way. The instructor was over 20 minutes late for the appointment and a complete awful person. I would not recommend using for road test.
Dear Angelia Smethers, Per the recorded phone conversation, as explained the front office staff was late in arriving and unlocking the front door today. We reviewed the film footage of your husband's interaction with the instructor and no one appeared/sounded rude. He spent a lot of time talking to another gentleman in the front office. We do not announce scores in front of other parents/students. As you explained many times on the phone your daughter did not take lessons from Vista Ridge Driving School. But, rather a police officer. Does this police officer give tests for DPS? You also said many times in the phone conversation that your daughter already faced some other issues. This is a testing environment and your student is judged by the State of Texas on their abilities.
Fantastic experience: Great communication from this school. Navigating the state's requirements for licensing is a bit confusing and Michaela went above and beyond in sorting it out for us. Thanks for the help!
Fantastic experience: Ms. Jana and Ms. Casey were totally awesome. They had to help me a lot. They helped me get drive times and get a driving test. I have band class right after school, and I run track. I was lucky they offered night classes and nighttime appointments for me and my buddies that have after school stuff. My parents don't help me with anything so I'm thankful that Ms. Jana and Ms. Casey helped me out. I probably wouldn't have been able to get my driver's license without their help. They told me what to do so I could drive better, I don't get to practice driving at home, so they really came in clutch. 10/10 highly recommend
Fantastic experience: Safety is their concern, going by state rules, and doing it RIGHT. We started off with parent taught and that did NOT work out. They helped us so much! Especially when my child wouldn't listen to me or my husband about driving rules. This school was excellent. I would never do parent taught.
It was a pleasure having you in class. Thank you!
Positive experience: It was alright, but my instructor was a bit strict and did make me cry and break down. She claimed I was a dangerous driver over very little things. I understand having to make sure you let the right kind of people on the road, especially here in Texas. But even though she was professional, she did not make me feel comfortable at all. Lady in the front office was amazing and very sweet. I say if your going to come here just be prepared to be critiqued on everything you do while doing your drivers test. I only had to do that portion because I came from out of state and my license expired. And from what I could tell the other girls she took with her she was strict on as well. Not a horrible place, but I think some need to work on making the kids and or adults driving with them more comfortable. I passed barely. So just be aware of that everyone.
Fantastic experience: Scheduled a road test last Friday and took today on Tuesday at noon. Staff was courteous and friendly and made the process quick and easy
Negative experience: Update it got worse here. One instructor yelled at my daughter and a second demanded she get out of the car and left her! Unacceptable. I have reported them to the state and the BBB. The owner was told and replied to me stating that this wasn’t true. Seems they care about proving you wrong more than addressing the many problems this school has. They do not care about the safety of their students or the parents who pay for their service. I too should have listened to all the other reviews. My daughter has been enrolled since November and has yet to have one single drive time. I asked them if they could just offer me one or have a better way to help me get her a drive time, but they told me that they opened 100 drive times for the month of March at 7pm-and by 7:03 the entire month was filled already. Now either that is the quickest ever or something isnt right. They refuse to give me my money back so we can go to another driving school who does not operate this way. They are now telling me that my daughter needs to do class #7. 4 months later... They emailed me that, "they have been working with me," yet this is the first I have ever heard of this. They are VERY rude and unprofessional and have a severe lack of communication going. I am not happy with this driving school and I would NOT recommend them to anyone!
UPDATE: We have contacted you many times and you never return any form of communication (we have all the emails and records). At the end of the day, this statement is not correct. If you would like to discuss this matter further please contact us. I will cover it in detail.
Fantastic experience: ms. jana is cool, class is epic, very much a fun time. road rage and no zones were the highlight
Fantastic experience: best time of my life
Fantastic experience: Me.Jana the goat. easy 5/5 review
Fantastic experience: Love miss Jana, also the kid in my who won’t stop talking
Negative experience: We scheduled the driving test for my 16 year old online on a Monday and next day vista ridge called us to let us know that timing got double booked. Not sure how the online booking gets double booked. We were given next slot on a Friday. Since there was a rain forecast, I called them on Thursday and asked if we can change the timing. I was told we will wait and see until the appointment time. 15 mins before the appointment time it was raining and I called again and we were told it will be changed to next week with a 25 dollar change fee. I did not feel safe for a 16 year old taking a driving test on a rainy day. I felt it was unethical to put someone in a spot where it may be unsafe. I requested a cancellation and was told that I will lose 75 dollars which I accepted. No point doing business with such people. Will schedule the driving test at a different place, Next time , I have to pay attention to other reviews.
Your appointment was not double booked "online". It was rescheduled 5 days before your appointment time. Any appointment that is changed within 72 hours by the customer is subject to fee. The rain lasted a very short time and did not effect any of the other testing. You were the only person to call about the rain. Nothing was unethical. Rain is a relatively frequent condition for drivers. Most anything regarding driving could be considered "unsafe". You just needed a reschedule which we explained to you.
Fantastic experience: We have had the best experience with VR driving school! My son is doing a great job and we've been able to sign up for times too!!
It has been a pleasure having you as a customer :)
Fantastic experience: My daughter has done so well learning to drive with your instructors! Thank you for everything! WE also love to support small business!
Thank you for supporting small business!
Negative experience: I should have listened to the prior reviews and not signed my child up for this driving school. If you live in Flower Mound choose someone else. We had to make up a class which was the class that the students could get their certificate to get their permit. I could not make a appointment with DPS until my child had completed this class. It took over two months before I was finally able to get this class made up. At that time I had asked if there was a time frame that she would have to complete the driving instruction part and was told no they are waving that because if COVID. With DPS being so backlogged I was finally able to get her a appointment to get her permit. When I spoke to them this second time I was told I would have to pay another $75 if she didn’t finish by March 2021. I already had paid the full amount when she was originally signed up. They post driving times on Mondays and you have to log on and sign them up at 7:00 pm when they release them. I was on at 7:01pm and all slots were filled. This happened two times which has taken me to February with no completed driving times. Mind you there were a good 5 days on that schedule when you could not book a driving time because I assume they did not have staff. It did not leave a lot of calendar time to finish. There is no way my daughter will finish before March. My advice do the parents as teachers route and avoid this driving school at any cost. Also they are very rude and the in class instruction was awful. My daughter watched a lot of movies while the instructor played on her phone.
Please contact us, so that I can help you.
Fantastic experience: Great team!
Fantastic experience: We loved class at Vista Ridge! It was a great experience. My child is driving with me and the school just fine. They provided correct information for keeping my child safe. We plan to take the test here.
Negative experience: My son recently started driving practice. At his first drive time, he did not bring his current permit. He asked if he could get a copy from the office. He was told he couldn't drive that day. He observed and the instructor told him not to worry about it as it wouldn't count against him. He scheduled his next driving class and when he arrived he was told he had to pay $50 for no showing to a class. I am very livid about this as he was told it would not count against him. Also, when we registered he was not told he must have the permit for each class. I contacted the office to discuss and the manager was very rude about this and said the instructor could not have told him it wouldn't count against him. We have already spent $350 for driving lessons and now another $50 for a so called no show. If I could do it all over again, I would not sign up with this school and I'd take my money elsewhere. My review is being edited to respond to the owner's response below. You do not have any video of me signing a thing as my son is 18 and signed things on his own. The only thing I signed was a document stating I had done at home parent taught learning prior to him signing up for your course. In addition, I was in the office with him when he completed the paperwork and the lady assisting him did not say ANYTHING about the no show fee OR that he must have his permit. At any rate, it is reasonable to assume that he made a mistake and brought his expired permit. However, you do not respond to my comment above that your driving instructor advised him that this would not count against him and he could simply reschedule his driving lesson. It is very evident below that you are rude historically and consistently to customers. So anyone reading this prior to spending any money with your business should be aware.
Dear Mrs. Valerine Conerly, NEWER UPDATE: This student chose to never complete Driver's Ed or respond to any other form of communication. UPDATE: When you registered to drive with our school we gave you (your student) paperwork regarding the drive times. You (your student) did receive this information because you (your student) signed up online and created an account. We do have film footage of you (your student) receiving this paperwork, contract, and details. These details explain specifically how you (your student) must have a valid permit for each drive time. Your student may have misunderstood the instructor, somehow, that I'm not sure of, but I will investigate it with the instructor. Instructors have no say about fees applied and they know this information. All information regarding fees, etc., is in the paperwork you (your student) did use to make this account. We do have a Vista Ridge contract with your signature on it, along with your other paperwork. Your student came into the office with an expired permit. We tried to accommodate him.... He was told he could observe for one hour AND if someone could bring a valid permit that would work. But, no one brought him a valid permit to our office. The person at the front desk told the student at the time it happened "a fee would still be applied because he did not drive." The student paid the fee at his next drive time and had a valid permit. This is a normal, standard procedure for such events, as with any driving school.
Negative experience: Your loved ones will not be prepared to drive by this school . They obviously aren't professional for a myriad of reasons. They never took my son on the highway and by far you are responsible for the lions share of teaching your loved one how to drive. My son also stated that during class room time the teacher was (female) was more concerned with her phone than the students.
Mr. Andrew Coxe of Flower Mound, We prepare everyone for driving. Safety is our greatest concern. This is a skill that requires much practice beyond what the state of Texas requires. I know your student missed a number of classes and we worked with him to get all of those made up. This was during Covid-19, I might add. Also, we made sure your student received all of his driving lessons (which were hand scheduled by the front office). Many times we called and you were out of town and not available to finish. We have several notes and you are more than welcome to come into our office and review those at anytime. Parents are required by the state of Texas to do a 30 hour parent log. This is a lengthy process and your student must be listening and paying attention at all times. Then, your student came back and tested with us (and passed his test). Often times students still aren't ready for a myriad of reasons.
Negative experience: Blonde lady instructor was so rude.
Who are you referring to? We have 4 "blonde lady".
Negative experience: DO NOT USE THIS DRIVING SCHOOL. Rudest customer service. Employee refused to give her name, hung up on me three times then turned off the phones.
We explained to you that we did NOT turn our phones off. We do not have capability. We have you recorded screaming at our employee. We are very sorry that you were given the wrong information by another driving school. You became very disgruntled when we explained the process and how to correct the problem because you did not want to hear that information.
Negative experience: You have to call 3 days in advance for a refund for service you didnt even get. Absolutely worthless.
Positive experience: I want to thank our driving Instructor. She took my son on his driver's test. She explained what he did wrong and what he did right. He told me she was very thorough in her explanations. What ever she said it did get through to him. Thank you Vista Ridge Driving School! He Passed!
Negative experience: worst, rude, inconsiderate and commercial. Horrible experience, took my road test here twice, awful. DO NOT GO HERE. Place is disgusting and unkept. The lady who was taking the road test was almost harassing me. Seriously, they need to respect their customers!
Fantastic experience: Super easy! Sign up online, take test, go to DPS. I guess if your kid knows how to drive and doesn’t do something dangerous....this is simple!
Fantastic experience: My daughter took her DPS road test at Vista Ridge Driving School today after completing the Aceable Parent Taught Drivers Ed Program with no issues. Easy on-line scheduling, check-in and out, and she passed with flying colors!
Fantastic experience: I really recommend vista driving school, thanks to Maria, I was able to pass my driving test on my first try. She was really patient with me even though I was bad in the beginning. She never raised her voice or scared me while driving. She had shown me everything I needed to know about driving. Maria has helped me all the way through, she booked an appointment for me and took me to my driving test. Thank you so much for your help Maria!!:))))))))
Negative experience: I love the school except for Jana. She is very rude and says inconsiderate things about previous students. Otherwise, everything is fine with the school.
Negative experience: So far, I am very disappointed. I called and talked to a very sweet, young girl that answered all of my questions and told me what I needed to do. She told me I would have to get a transfer and my son could finish what he had not completed. My son could not finish his driver ed due to no available car. So, I got the transfer and was ready to enroll my son. I called to see if I could get him enrolled. The Woman I talked to was not very pleasant to talk to and told me what I had been told was wrong. She wanted to know who I talked to, etc. Apparently, the girl I talked to gave me wrong info. I have to pay the full tuition, which I was told by the girl, and my son has to completely start the drive time over. If you call the school for info, make sure to talk to at least 2 different people to make sure that what you are told is correct.
Fantastic experience: I don't know about the school but I took a road test here. Reception was very polite and driving examiner was very professional. I liked that the examiner was strictly in time for the test so it took no longer than 20 minutes all together. The fee is 75$ (your car), in case you fail each next try would cost you 25$, they allow to rent their car for 25$. I found it very convenient that I could take the test in the evening (4:20) or on Saturday. There was a small summarizing talk at the end of the test which was also useful to improve even more. Thanks for the service.
Fantastic experience: We used this location for our DPS road test for our son. This made things very convenient as the state run driving test stations are super busy and almost impossible to get appointments. I must say that we were delighted with our experience here. We booked our appointment online. That all worked great. They set expectations with the web site and all subsequent electronic communication. We got an appointment quickly. The receptionist was pleasant and communicated very effectively for what was needed and what would happen next. The test proctor was friendly and took the time to explain the results with us. She even gave us some tips on how to improve my son's defensive driving skills! I highly recommend Vista Ridge Driving School.
Fantastic experience: Staff is friendly and have explained me clearly driving lessons. I recommend Vista Ridge driving school... 5 stars for your service.
Thank you! Happy and safe driving!
Fantastic experience: Had to go take my driving test to switch my license from and out of state one. I can’t say enough how great everything was. It was quick and easy. The staff was very helpful and super nice about everything. I highly recommend these guys for anyone who needs to get their license.
Stay safe and wear your seat belt! Thank you
Negative experience: Horrible place don't waste your money. We originally had our appt in Fort Worth then they call and say there will not be an instructor there but we can come to Flower Mound or reschedule which would have been 3 weeks after appt. so decided to drive to Flower Mound 50 min away no big deal except it was rainy all day. So we drive the practice route for a while and get there 10 min before appt. and we are missing a piece of paper so receptionist says try to go next door and see if they can print but we are on a tight schedule so you probably will have to reschedule, we get the paper printed and it is 5 min past the time the driving instructor very rudely said it was too late to take her we have to reschedule even though it only takes 10 to 12 min for each driver to finish test we know because we waited until last appt to see if someone might not show up. They schedule the drive times with no wiggle room and on top of that are rude when speaking to you. And the instructor never seemed happy ever when it was time to take another kid out she just shout lets go and a not nice tone and walk out the door. It does not seem like she likes her job to much. But long story short we found another driving school to take the test that weekend and i was ok losing 75 dollars and paying another 75 instead of rescheduling to take the test there which would be another 25 and have to drive all the way back out there because then they tell me if i reschedule at the ft worth location it would cost me 75 what an awful business . Luckily i found a school in HEB 5 stars lives up to that rating, while these people live up to theirs. I recommend choosing a different school.
Negative experience: Should have read the reviews before I went. Place is a total scam. The people are RUDE, especially Janna. Please read the reviews before considering to spend your time and money here. Not finished with my complaints either. Next Is the BBB. response to owner... I spoke to the employees myself. And yes, they were rude to me, not just my son. Care should be taken when their are new drivers. Even moms are nervous. And to be abrupt and rude is not acceptable. I am glad you feel there are many happy customers. But my personal experience is exactly as posted. And my son went straight to the Ft Worth DMV and made a 100%.
Thank you for commenting. We are not any scam. We have many happy, successful customers. We are sorry if you had an unpleasant experience and we work hard to correct those points. We are also sorry that your child did not pass the driving test. This does not mean we are bad, rude, or horrible to anyone. We did not teach your child to drive, we simply gave him a test. We go over with the parent and student the areas that resulted in the failure. We do have rules to adhere to in this process. Some students are not safe drivers, therefore they do not pass their driving test. This is a safety concern for the students and the community.
Fantastic experience: Came here to take my driving test and I had a good experience. From the moment I made my appointment to the moment I left after I completed my test it was a positive experience. They’re a nice staff and straight forward with instructions. I was a little nervous after I read some of the reviews, but I had a good experience. As long as you know what you’re doing you’ll be good. I would definitely recommend people here.
Thank you for choosing us.
Fantastic experience: Im going to be honest i was a bit scared coming here looking at the reviews prior to my test , i walked in and was greeted by a sweet girl in the front, waited about 15 minutes to take my test and had the pleasure of meeting brenda. she was very informative and the whole process was quick and Easy!! will be reccomending this place to everyone, thanks vista ridge driving school!!!
Thank you!
Negative experience: Melissa is rude, unprofessional, refused to give me her manager and hung up on me after stating quote " I don't have to answer your questions". And then removed my daughter's last scheduled drive time. I have filed a written complaint on her with the BBB. Beware!!!
We have never had any employee named Melissa.
Negative experience: I would have loved to rate it negative but I couldn't that's why gave 1 out of 5. Actually It should be -5. I will categorically define why I am giving this kind of response. 1. They failed me two times in my driving test which is not the reason why I am responding like this. The reason is their behavior. 2. First time I failed for crossing the white mark line in the stop sign which I found still fine. And the instructor was very rude. 3. Second time was ridiculous. The road which had a speed limit of 40 MPH. I drove at 30 MPH. And she complained that it was 10 which was a blatant lie. Everything was perfect this time. Still she found this lie and did not let me get through. This is totally unacceptable. I am frustrated not because my money are wasted but because of the harassment I have to bear. Worst and rudest behavior of the instructors both the times. Not at all recommendable.
The whole reason you're writing this review is because you failed your driving test, as you stated. You had trouble taking instruction from two different adult women. Your payment included another test, (your 3rd test) which you scheduled and did not show up. There is nothing for us to gain when someone fails a test. You chose to come test here. We simply told you what to work on, how to make the corrections, in order to pass the test!
Positive experience: failed first test. praying that all goes well on test 2. Passed on second try, barely. Not sure if this is just a Texas thing or not, but the process is very, very, very subjective. It appears to be based on just a pass/fail, and not a start at 100% and any flaw reduces the score, with a 70%or below is a fail. One little flaw identified is a fail. I wish I believed in the approach of pass/fail, but I have seen how 75% of drivers have a license today, and never should have passed any aspect of a driving test. No blame on vista pre se, but makes you question the validity of the process. Have heard DPS Is just as rude as vista ridge, so tells me they are aligned with the standard, If even not more so. Just a frustrating experience all In all. It's just a gamble of how the wind is blowing at the time you test. Sad, all in all, for the people who actually have really good driving talent, you have to rely on a throw of the dice. Just my 2 cents...
I would like to clarify a few things. "Failed first test, passed on second try barely." This may indicate to you that your student needs more practice (for safety purposes). He tested with two different instructors who did not know your student. Subjective? Every test is graded on a score sheet, issued by the State of Texas. You started the test with 100% "One little flaw identified is a fail." This is not true. Although, some major mistakes are identified by the State as a fail. We follow all rules required by the State of Texas. No one has been rude to anyone. In fact, we did our best to test you immediately after your first test, but you said your son was going out out town to California for several weeks. He did not take class with us here at Vista Ridge. He only did 7 driving lessons. Testing has nothing to do with a gamble or how the wind blows at the time you test.
Positive experience: I told myself before I took the road test at this location, I would leave a review rating their service. I just recently finished the test and I would give the experience 4 stars out of 5. The location was small. The waiting room is small and has 7 seats, which was not enough for everyone who was waiting. They had a small room for the receptionists. I'm guessing they had one room for teaching kids down the hall, along with one unisex restroom. The staff acted professional and I think each person was well suited for their position. The desk staff was friendly, kind, and welcoming. The driving instructor didn't get any emotions or bias into their scoring. The main reason for my deduction of points is the wait. I had to wait about 50 minutes after my appointed schedule time to take my road test. If it was 10-20 minutes, that would be a bit more understanding, but 50 minutes sounds a bit much! To add a bit to it, there was only one person ahead of me waiting. I don't blame them too much for the wait though because it's not entirely in their control. It partially depends on the drivers being tested. My test took about 13 to 15 minutes, starting from when I left the building to when I walked back in. Their rating on my driving seemed fair. Everything my instructor told me, I understood and agreed with. They definitely take an emphasis on safety, which is a bonus because I can do these small fixes to further perfect my driving. Overall, I would say this is a good location to go to for completing your road test. It's quite open for appointments. Just make sure you ask how long the wait is and bring something to entertain yourself with, in case there is a wait!
Thank you for your review here. It is much appreciated and honest. Delays happen for any number of reasons. We appreciate your understanding and patience. Thank you for choosing Vista Ridge Driving School.
Fantastic experience: I had great experience with vista ridge. I had Jana as my teacher and Roger for almost all of my drive times. Jana is a really great teacher and shows a lot of helpful videos. Roger was really helpful and taught me a lot on my drive times. After finishing all the drive times and classes I felt totally comfortable behind the wheel. The staff was also super friendly and loved to joke around.
Negative experience: We recently used this school to have my son's driving test done. We couldn't use our own car at DPS so had to find a third party to have the test done. My son was very nervous...who wouldn't be? The woman who tested him (positive it is the same blonde woman whom others have complained about in other reviews) couldn't have been more rude or inconsiderate. After failing my son, who she said was 4 points shy of passing, I came home to read other reviews. Obviously, I was not alone in my opinion of the experience. After speaking to the manager and explaining the things I thought were horrible, one example; she started the car before my son even got in the car, and how she said he didn't move his head to look both ways, which is ridiculous because he said he saw her with her head down marking her paper every time he looked right, so how would she know? After going a few rounds with the manager he agreed to retest my son himself at no extra cost. We arrived one week later and the two only friendly people in the building that work the front explained that we were to use our car. I explained the only reason we were using their school was because we couldn't use my car (tags are expired and we are awaiting tags from Florida - did I mention we are active duty military so our home state is Florida?!?) . They explained that the manager was aware of this and that we just needed proof of insurance. I thought that was strange because the manager never told me I needed to use my car when we agreed to retest my son. When the manager realizes my tags are expired he explains we can't use my car. No kidding? So, he says I need to pay $50 to use their car. Of course I do! Worst experience for me and my son. Don't waste your money. I fully believe this is a scam. They charge $100 for the first test and $50 to be retested. Since this occurred to me and my son I now know of several people who failed the first time. I also find it interesting the manager asked what driving school my son went through, I explained to him that is an inappropriate question as I just wanted them to give him the driving test, shouldn't every kid be tested the exact same? Does where they learn to drive skew the test? Ridiculous. I recommend you go almost anywhere else!
We are so glad you passed your driving test! We have tried to accommodate you in every way. We do our best. Although, we do want to meet all customers expectations, we are regulated by the State of Texas. We have nothing to gain when a student does fail. The students are graded on certain areas. Observation is one of those areas that is graded. The students (testers) are constantly being watched for grading and some have not perfected their skills yet. There is a strict requirement for testing (pass or fail). Not every students passes, whether here or at DPS. We provided feedback to you, your son, and your husband for corrections.
Negative experience: This driver's ed institution is very unprofessional and downright rude. I had scheduled to take my test as an adult after taking an adult driver's ed course online, and I will admit that I made a mistake because i did not notice on their website where it said that you cannot take a driver's test with them if you have taken adult driver's ed. However, the Texas dps website says nothing about not being able to take the test through a third party and even links to their website for a referral for the test. I was scheduled to take my test today and after realizing my mistake I called several hours in advance to let them know that I would not be able to take the test and to request to have my money refunded since they were unable to provide me with any services. I also understand that their website says that you need to cancel within seventy two hours before your test, but the woman on the phone was very rude to me when I requested a refund. She stated that the information about adult drivers is listed in multiple places on their website which it is not. It is only listed once. Then my mother called and was given the same answer, so she requested to speak to a supervisor, apparently their were no supervisors there and they tried to give her the run around, eventually they told her the owner would call her back. The owner called back about an hour later and was unbearably rude. He made the conversation personal suggesting that mother let me handle the driver's license hoops myself. It was very offensive. He still refuses to refund the money despite not providing me with a service so I am disputing the transaction with paypal.
Dear Chuck, We are sorry you had an unpleasant experience. You are an adult. You stated that you're 24 years old. You admitted you made a mistake. We are not DPS and do not control what information DPS provides. We have stated very clearly on our website what the requirements are to take a test. It is very specific. You called two hours before the appointment time, there is no refund. We hired an instructor who has to be paid. Time is valuable. Our website does say you need to cancel 72 hours before your test. Again, the information is very specific and detailed on the website. There is no dispute with Paypal. You scheduled a service (valuable time) that you canceled at the last minute.
Fantastic experience: Went there to execute driving test only. Learned as a parent the school or online courses do not drive nor teach the students the proper technical process. The instructors here offer even a one hour tutor session for those who don't use thier school. I say do it your child will perform the route learn in hour the points they look for. Then the next day you can have your child perform the test. Worth every penny and avoids the awful dps waiting period. So we did our test then drove to dos to get license. Much easier.
Thank you for your kind words.
Negative experience: I give it a -0- but have to choose at least a 1. My daughter learned nothing at this school. The instructors did not care about the students learning to drive safely. We are having to take driving lessons at another driving school. They said they are getting several kids from Vista Ridge Driving School because they did not teach the kids anything. They only want kids who already are driving and are just there for their Insurance deductible. Requested a refund but have not heard anything back and probably never will. Big scam. I was told to take my concerns to TEA in Austin. We all should do this. Maybe something will get done.
After further investigation and research, let me point out, you are writing a review more than one year after your daughter took the class and completed. This is the first we have heard of your daughter learning nothing and you wanting a refund. That is a bold statement to say that your daughter learned nothing! She was here and attended the required 16 days of class. She also scheduled and completed 7 driving lessons which is also required. We care very much about students learning to drive safely. That is your choice to take additional driving lessons elsewhere. We teach all levels of abilities to drive at Vista Ridge Driving School. This is a process that takes longer for some students and requires much practice. After all instruction was given, we counseled with you about the fact that your daughter needed more time, practice, and lessons. And that she was not picking it up as fast as some other students. No student is perfect after 7 lessons. Again, we care very much about the students learning to drive safely. The state of Texas also requires a 30 hour parent log. This is required of the parent. You stated at the time "she has not completed the 30 hour parent log." You also indicated there are some differences. We also get students from other driving schools and they say they didn't learn anything from their school. This is a common problem. Many of our students have never driven before. This requires much practice, some of which must be done at home. You stated previously "we don't let her drive at home." Most people don't even realize that they might get an insurance discount. No refund is given now because your daughter completed all days of class and all drive times. We counseled with you about this matter and your response was "I know she's not ready and we will practice with her." Nothing is a big scam. You completed. You have made numerous mistakes here. I stated upon her completion, we can give her more lessons and are willing to work with her to improve.
Positive experience: Thank you to VRDS and Jana for helping us through this significant life movement. I would recommend them highly to go through the entire process.
I thank you and I'm glad we were able to help.
Fantastic experience: I thought they were great. My daughter enjoyed the reasonable class sizes and felt like the instructors taught her valuable information. Everything ran very smoothly from drive times to class times. I would recommend them without hesitation.
Thank you very much!
Fantastic experience: 5 stars!! So glad we decided to have my son go to Vista Ridge Driving School. My son had nothing but great things to say about everyone that works there, and we were glad to hear they stressed SAFETY! Roger was a great instructor at Vista, along with the others. Enrolling online was very simple as well.
Positive experience: I had posted a previous review about how they were rude and that I didn't pay to have my daughter treated that way. I received a call from Jana to work out the issue and I appreciate that they take these reviews seriously and take matters to improve their service. Sam and another gentleman were very helpful to solve a problem with a missed class and they went out of their way to help me and my daughter.
Fantastic experience: Vista ridge driving school from a students view point is a great environment with spectacular driving instructors I didn't know anything about driving and they have worked with me to better my driving skills into a street legal driver
Fantastic experience: We got all the drive times done, class, and everything was excellent. They gave us all the information we needed. We have scheduled the driving test here. Many friends of ours have been successful!
Thank you for the comment. We do appreciate you!
Negative experience: Rude, demeaning, arrogant and a horrible experience. There are other schools that provide superior service. It is apparent that Sam hates his job. Read all reviews here and on Yelp. I wish I had done more research prior to subjecting my son to this kind of treatment.
Thank you for the feedback. We have many happy, successful customers. These are kids and they do make mistakes. They are learning.
Negative experience: Absolutely terrible. The instructor was extremely rude and disrespectful. I do not recommend doing service with this driving school to ANYBODY.
Fantastic experience: My family and I have had a great experience. They have really worked with us to get everything completed in a timely fashion. Anybody out there who wants to cry baby about this school or their procedures needs a reality check. I've read this nonsense on here. If you've had problems....you need to ask yourself 3 simple questions......1.) Does my teenager do everything right all the time? 2.) Do I know how to use a computer? 3.) Do I know how to problem solve and use a phone? Suck it Up Buttercups.
Negative experience: They only care about your money. Once you complete the course, be prepare be treated like trash.
After investigating further, you never completed the course. I'm not sure what your complaint is/was since you never returned to finish anything. We can help you with whatever your needs are: teen or adult course.
Negative experience: I wish I have an option to give them zero star. Never have enough slots to schedule driving practice. waited 3 month to get schedule, still unsuccessful. They knew that they were extremely overbook, but did not stop taking enrollment because the school is pre-paid. Thief basically. Never use this school. Use your school provided classes. It is even cheaper.
Negative experience: Horrible experience with customer service unless you are standing in front of them. I can't believe they can run a business like this. I have left numerous messages on their voice mail because no one answers the phone. They don't return emails either. They don't answer the phone. I have wasted so much personal time trying to find out information. When I signed my son up for the schedule to drive, I did not get the email or text message to let me know he was signed up. He wasted weeks. He had idle time that he could have been out driving. On the other hand my son has enjoyed the classes but I would not not use them again.
Fantastic experience: Sam has been very accommodating. We moved from Flower Mound to Katy Texas before our son could get in all his scheduled drive times. They worked with us to complete the remaining hours over a week-end trip to DFW area. I believe Vista Ridge has one disgruntled parent with an axe to grind for several of the negative reviews. My son said the material was a little dry in the classroom, but I remember my drivers ed classes the same way. The driving portion was fine.
