Fantastic experience: I moved to the US in 2017, and I hadn’t driven much since then. I started taking driving lessons in mid-2024. Re-learning the driving principles and unlearning my bad habits was a challenge for me, but I had a great experience with the individual lessons. I took six driving lessons and one recap lesson before the road test. I also took the road test with the school and passed on my first attempt. I might take some additional individual lessons to gain more experience on the freeway. Mr. Smith (the owner) is amazing at instilling confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend Middlesex Driving Academy.

Negative experience: Ms. Fernando is super disrespectful and unprofessional, she would make smart comments through the lessons, and overall a horrible instructor and horrible person. On the other hand, Soto was an awesome instructor, he would explain things very well, super nice, annd very attentive and just a really great person and instructor.

Fantastic experience: Down-to-earth, friendly, and geniunely caring. My daughter was so traumatized by another very well known driving school that she decided she never wanted to drive again! Mr. Smith and Ms. Panniello put my daughter at ease, relieved her of her anxieties and rebuilt her confidence. After only a few short weeks of lessons, my daughter passed her road test on the the very first try. Midlesex Driving Academy treated my daughter and I like family. Mr. Smith is a genuine, kind-hearted, humorous and knowledgable instructor. He knew how to calm my daughter's nerves and get the best from her. I will always be grateful. This is the driving school you want for any age driver.

Negative experience: how can i take classes with you if i can't speak english well,i speak spanish

Negative experience: We’ve had a very frustrating experience here with our daughter. We can only get one 1-hr lesson scheduled every 2-4 weeks, so the process to get the required hours is taking an extremely long time. I’ve heard of other driving schools where the kids get 2-hr lessons, and multiple lessons per week. I feel we’re locked into Middlesex since we paid for the whole package. It’s taking about 10 months to get through 20 hours of lessons.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Middlesex Driving Academy, great stuff and Mr. Rick is the best, very patient and funny, the day of the road test he is there, making sure everyone is ok and relaxed, he explains and goes over with you about the road test, just to refresh your memory with the last minute details, and it helps a lot, I can’t thank him and his stuff enough for all the great customer service and attention they give to each one of us, I passed my road test this last Saturday , and I am very happy and excited to get on the road, once again, Thank you so much .

Fantastic experience: Middlesex Driving Academy was a great place for my son to get classroom instruction for his driver's permit (and to understand the rules of the road). The driving instructors were nice and it was convenient for us to have the instructors come to our house on the weekdays to pick up our son for his lessons. With ~1 lesson/week, it is perfect timing (even allowing for a few weeks off) to get your permit, have your observations/driving lessons, and then be ready for the road test after your had your permit for 6 months.

I took a 6hr driving lessons and passed the road test. I am most thankful to Mr. Smith! He is a wonderful instructor, very detailed, and supportive.

Fantastic experience: I have been driving for years but failed a first attempt when I booked a test directly with RMV at a test center. I decided to try going through a school and have a practice test beforehand. Middlesex Driving Academy was very thorough with the process from start to end. From the time I called for my first inquiry about their process, the person over the phone gave very clear instructions and followed me through the necessary steps promptly, until the very end of my test. The instuctor who took me for my practice was very encouraging and put me at ease. It gave me the confidence I needed and the support I was looking for to make sure that the bad habits that I had picked up were corrected and that I was familiar with what the road tester was looking for when evaluating with my driving. It was worth the money I paid. I passed!!!

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough about this school. We switched to Middlesex from another school when that school abruptly changed their program and road test preparation. Middlesex offers Saturday road tests, and prep on the actual course. The owner Rick may be the nicest guy you'll meet. The drive from North Reading to Winchester was worth it, I wish we signed on with this school from the beginning!

Fantastic experience: Our family loves this driving school! We just had our 4th and last child to complete the program and passed his road test yesterday! They are professional, friendly and full of information! The instructors are amazing! All four of my kids were incredibly prepared for their road test. Also, the convenience of taking the road test at the driving school and not having to go to the registry is immeasurable! They take the stress out of everything! Thanks Mr. Smith!

Fantastic experience: Such a lovely vibe of this school. I did learn driving from a different school but they didn’t know the tips that you need to know during the test and I failed. But then I heard about Middlesex and after hearing my story, Mrs Ryan was great by taking me on a test drive and helped me with the rules and tips I needed to follow during the test. Mr Smith too helped with his suggestions and best practices to follow while on road. I did pass my test and kudos to them.

Fantastic experience: I am here in MA on a visa with some driving experience in India. Wanted to get acquainted with the rules here so took the driving lessons with the school and passed the road test on the second attempt. The school is very well organized and usually busy with many students but they helped me get the sessions in the evening time so that i didn't had to miss my office hours. They are lovely people and the owner has a very good sense of humor :). Overall I am very delighted with the experience.

Fantastic experience: My daughter enjoyed all the instructors she had here and they also provide night driving lessons which I feel is important when they are learning to drive. We signed up for the driving test at the school and it's nice because the kids are familiar with the area after having lessons. They were great here and would recommend them!

Fantastic experience: Had a great overall experience. I just needed a practice run with some more focus in rules and regulations while driving. My instructor was Mrs. Ryan. She was very polite and gave clear suggestions and instructions on where I can improve. Ended up passing the test!

Fantastic experience: I just finished behind-the-wheel instruction and backseat observation at Middlesex Driving Academy, and my experience has been great!! All the instructors are kind and offer very useful corrections. My driving has improved a lot since I started here. I highly recommend Middlesex Driving Academy— it’s easy to book lessons, and you get the times that you request! Also I passed the road test on my first attempt!

Negative experience: Good classroom and driving instruction. However, they are terrible at answering their phone, returning phone calls, and replying to email. This makes scheduling lessons a nightmare. The convention is for everyone to email their availability every Friday. But it is not in their interest to have any classes scheduled because the $1000 payment was up front. I have yet to receive any email replies from them. The only workaround is to drive over there when they are open and ask to schedule a few days. HTH

Fantastic experience: Middlesex is a great place to learn how to drive! I had an outstanding experience with all the instructors, but I must express my gratitude to Ms Fernando. I had her for many of my lessons and she was very funny, helpful with improving my parallel parking, and also with other questions I had. Thanks to her and all my other instructors at middlesex driving, I passed my road test first try! I would 100% recommend signing up for lessons here.

Fantastic experience: I'm in my early 40s, grew up in NYC, lived in Boston and just never ended up getting a license. Once my wife and I bought a house in Medford it was time. There wasn't a not nice person there, supportive and great. I especially have to call out Joanie (Ms Fiore) cause she was 85% of my lessons. Perfect amount of calming sass, yet also assistance when you have questions and never caused stress. I passed my road test on first try. This place is 100% encouraged for people of all ages. There's no convenient way to do it on either side, but I do wish they could lock the same instructor for each lesson. They're all good, but some teach differently than others, and if you get someone that isn't your usual it causes unnecessary nerves if their style is not the same.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Middlesex Driving Academy enough!!! I’m 23, never had my license and finally got myself to book some adult driving lesson. I went in very nervous but immediately felt a sigh of relief after meeting Ms. Ryan! I was lucky enough to take all of my classes with her and I truly couldn’t have done it without her. She was personable, helpful, and beyond approachable. Every class I became more and more confident in myself and the skills I was building. I took my road test today and passed. But beyond that, I have gotten over my fear of driving and I’m just so grateful I decided to take lessons at Middlesex Driving Academy! Everyone I encountered in the office was so positive and welcoming and I’m thinking of buying some more classes just to hang around them again!!

Fantastic experience: Just passed my road test here today after taking the 6 Adult Lessons package! Before coming to this school I was terrified of driving. They helped me through that, and helped me feel (reasonably) comfortable and eager to keep practicing! The owner, Rick, has been very reassuring and friendly from the start. Fantastic experience: Middlesex driving offered a great experience for my daughter. Classroom time was easy as she did it online for a week. Driving was sometimes hard to schedule but they helped to make it on time so she was able to get her license when eligible. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my time learning to drive with middlesex driving. Ms. Fiore was awesome, very patient and made me feel like it was okay to make mistakes while making sure we were safe. She even texted me the night before wishing me good luck and telling me I could do it because she remembered I was nervous about the test.

Fantastic experience: Extremely nice and polite people. Rick seems to really try and get drivers to be as comfortable as they can until the date of the test.

Negative experience: I would give zero stars if I could. That was probably the worst customer service I've ever gotten in Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington State combined. Not only would he cut me off at every sentence, which was difficult for me to have to repeat myself and speak so much more than necessary because I'm dealing with a very hoarse and painful "lost voice", but he was rude and didn't care about anything I was asking. All he wanted to do was upsell, and when I asked for the minimum requirement for the road test that a very nice woman from there told me about a few weeks ago when I called he refused to tell me and kept telling me he wanted more from me. He told me he was the owner and I did tell him that he was being rude and the woman I spoke with before was great and I just wanted a reminder on the things she told me. Try to upsell all you want, but not even listening to what I was saying and not answering any of my questions is disgusting behavior coming from a business that requires human interaction. I work at a restaurant. I deal with rude people all the time. This guy was legitimately terrible. Astoundingly. Like, it was so severe that I can only assume something really terrible just happened to him and he's very mad, but I'm sorry that does not excuse how I was treated. He said multiple times how he is the owner and said "I'm glad the person I hired was nice". Well, I'm glad the owners where I work don't talk to people that way. They also don't feel the need to identify themselves as the owner every 2 seconds. Idk. I'm appalled because I legitimately do not think I've ever had a similarly terrible experience anywhere ever. He ended up telling me to go to Agganis Driving School. I was the one calling him. I had the questions. Not only would he not listen, but he did not answer anything. The whole situation was bizarre. Maybe it wasn't even the owner and was some super angry employee that is lashing out at the company. If so, I think it's working.

Fantastic experience: I can’t recommend this place enough. My husband and I both passed using this school and the staff were all so helpful, friendly and efficient. My instructors were great but particularly Mrs Ryan who quickly managed to get me doing my manoeuvres so confidently I wasn’t worried about them at all in my test. Overall, a fantastic experience.

If you're a teenage boy, please take lessons from Mr. Rick rather than Mrs. Ryan because, Mrs. Ryan can make it difficult for you to concentrate on driving  "jokes aside, The atmosphere at the Academy was fantastic; it reminded me of Steve Carell's The Office series. Negative experience: To start with i enrolled in this driving school for my road test and prior to that i did take lesson with different driving school who suggested me this school for road test. I just took 1 class as i knew how to drive and just wanted guidance for road test. I went in on thursday evening for class and the instructer told me to adjust my seat and i asked him how to do that and he started laughing and commented how are you suppose to pass the exam if you cannot fix your seat. REALLY? Every car is different and this was a very old car with weird buttons. Class was of 30 mins he bearly taught me anything and was asking all sort of personal questions like where i work, what was my profession etc I had my first road exam with them which i failed obviously. So i enroll for second lesson and requested for other driving instructer. The scheduler called me 3 times i remember and 1 slot she told me was available for 9pm on tuesday i told her that is really late i cannot make it, she called me at 2:34pm on thursday and demanded to come right away for 2:30pm class i told her i live 30 mins away cannot make it and i was surprised that she started yelling at top of her voice as i was not available at her time that was super horrifying experience. Still i had to take the test with them as i was registered and they will charge me any way and again i failed. Than i enrolled in other school and just in one attempt i passed the road test. Whoever told you that it is easy to pass driving test at this school was wrong. Worst experience ever don’t enroll here!!!! Also very pricy than any other school.

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with Middlesex Driving Academy, and would highly recommend. Moving from out of state with learner's permit in hand, the folks at MDA helped us figure out how to transfer the permit to the State of MA, determine the additional steps needed to meet the MA driver education criteria, provided prompt scheduling to meet the criteria, and had my son ready for the road test right after his 16 1/2 birthday. This was a big deal since he could have had his license at 16 in our former state (missed by 1 month). Taking the road test at the driving academy was wonderful compared to my experience with my other children. MDA went above and beyond to help us navigate this process. Thank you!!!

Fantastic experience: I have had two children attend Middlesex and have been extremely happy with both experiences. The office is responsive to emails and phone calls, they keep track of the lessons and when the license exam in to make sure they get all lessons in a timely manner, which was so difficult given my sons sports schedule, but they were always so helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend Middlesex Driving Academy.

Negative experience: Fees are not reasonable , I was told that they charge (200 + 35 ) for road tests and 85$ for private lesson and they asked me to wait for group lessons for next year . They were so top of the world during the conversation.

Positive experience: I enjoyed the lessons here! Ms. Ryan is fun and makes the lessons super enjoyable and interactive. We didn’t cover as much as I expected to, but I still learnt quite a lot.

All the instructors are very helpful and patient and they don’t yell or shout or scare you while driving. You can also take additional private lessons as needed to focus on specific areas that need improvement like parallel parking. Ms. Ryan and Ms. Belliveau were super awesome in helping me boost my confidence before and on the day of the test.

Fantastic experience: I am writing this review with immense pleasure. I am a beginner and was looking for driving schools around and fortunately came across this school and spoke to Mr.Smith. He is my driving instructor. He is a very kind, cool guy and so soft spoken. He will teach you everything you need to be safe and keep others safe once you hit the road. He and the school are so very welcoming and friendly. As I am a working lady and only have weekends, Mr.Smith generously made sure that he squeeze in one hour slot in his busy schedule in the weekends. His parallel parking and three point turn techniques are the best. I highly recommend Mr.Smith and his school.

Fantastic experience: Middlesex Driving Academy is a good place to be when you want to get your driver's license. I used to drive before so i didnt have any classes with them. However , I've had a 15 minutes practice with Mr Rick and after a few weeks i get the Road Test. He was very nice and professional. The examiner is a cool guy, you wont be stressed with him. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get their driver's license Quickly. Mr Rick will show you everything you need to know for the road test. Everyone is so nice & willing to help!

Fantastic experience: I did private driving lessons with Rick Smith. He was very patient, understanding and generous. He also scheduled driving lessons with me which fit my schedule the best. I definitely recommend doing driving lessons with him.

The staff is very nice and welcoming, and the driving instructors are incredibly patient, as well as extremely well versed and able to fix mistakes right away! Plus, the staff is very ready to accommodate with scheduling and make sure you are fully ready for your road test!

Fantastic experience: Middlesex Driving Academy and their staff have been the most accommodating, kind, and understanding people that i’ve had the pleasure to work with. Even amongst the Covid-19 Pandemic, MDA has gone out of their way to facilitate and expedite the process of getting my drivers license. Because I was faced with a conflicting circumstance and an upcoming moving process (to a town significantly far from Middlesex Driving Academy), the owner of the driving school, Mr. Rick Smith, and his team, worked very hard to assist me in getting my license as soon as I could. They happily assisted my family and I without hesitation and we are extremely grateful for their generosity. Communication for establishing driving observation and behind-the-wheel hours were always professionally handled and executed. Overall, I would absolutely recommend enrolling at MDA for you or your child's journey to receiving their drivers license!

Fantastic experience: This place is great for people learning to drive and getting their license. Rick is a great patient instructor who is so encouraging. Even during my roadtest the examiner and tge rest of the staff was great. Kind people who could ease somebody with the worst anxiety. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic experience: Middlesex Driving Academy is a good place to be when you want to get your driver's license. I used to drive before so i didnt have any classes with them.However , I've had a 30 minutes practice with Mr Smith and after a few weeks i get the Road Test. He was very nice and professional. The examiner is a cool guy, you wont be stressed with him. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get their driver's license Quickly. Mr Smith will show you everything you need to know for the road test.
