Washington Motorcycle Safety Training.DOL Approved testing & training: Reviews
Negative experience: Horrible infection
Fantastic experience: Took the beginner course at the Auburn Location. Went from never riding a motorcycle to whipping that thing around confidently in 2 days. Now all I can think about is getting a bike. Very satisfied and will be attending the endorsement course. Shout out to my instructor Cyndi who was extremely helpful who made the overall experience fun and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Took the permit course with LeRoy. Great instructor, always wanted to help and guide us in the right direction. Always answered questions professionally and taught at the highest level. Would recommend!
Fantastic experience: The program was very useful to me and the instructor Cyndi is an absolute gem. Cyndi is a passionate, competent, kind and humorous instructor who made the entire experience from classroom-to-range enjoyable. She is very passionate about instilling safe habits, encouraging progress and creating a fun and engaging environment that makes the class a great time. I had the pleasure of taking a back-to-back permit+endorsement class from her and I couldn’t be happier with having her as my instructor. If I decide to take advanced courses in the future then I will make sure that Cyndi Martin is there to teach me.
Fantastic experience: This course was very enjoyable! Our group had an awesome course instructor. Well worth it!
Fantastic experience: First time ever riding a motorcycle. Our instructor, Cyndi, was very professional, informative and supportive. I would not have passed this course without her guidance. Definitely try to get her as your instructor. Your experience will be amazing.
Fantastic experience: Cyndi was pretty awesome and she had a good pulse on the class. She ensured we learnt all the right things with a lot of practice drills and still managed to wrap up the session quicker than the time allocated.
Fantastic experience: Cyndi is an amazing instructor I highly recommend her! I’ve been at other training facilities and no one went into as depth as she did.
Negative experience: Do NOT go here! I have been rescheduled TWICE with not even a minimum of 24 hour notice and have missed out on work! I am very disappointed and would not recommend anyone to use this company!
Negative experience: Attended a written test. They provided a wrong start time, one hour earlier than the actual time. Next time, attended a skill test. I was 10 mins late and they told me to reschedule. Will reschedule at other motorcycle school.
Thank you for your feedback. We would like to learn more about your comments. Our system are electronic, and our policies are clearly stated and we always follow DOL requirements.
Negative experience: I had a terrible experience trying to obtain my motorcycle endorsement at the WMST school in Auburn. The instructor there is both racist and clearly frustrated. When I arrived at the testing site, there was no one around, so I decided to practice weaving through the cones. The instructor stormed out of his container and started yelling at me, saying I wasn’t allowed to practice there, as if I was supposed to somehow know that without being informed beforehand. During the test, he failed me on the very first exercise, which involved braking at a speed between 20-25 mph. He claimed I wasn’t going fast enough. I told him that my motorcycle’s speedometer showed 25 mph, but he dismissed it by saying that some bikes display speeds 3-4 miles under the actual speed, which I don’t believe at all, especially since I was riding a brand-new 2023 BMW. Even if his claim were true, I’d still be within the speed requirements. It honestly feels like they are just trying to rip people off. I’ve already obtained a permit and passed the knowledge test for the endorsement with them, but I’m now planning to take the final endorsement test at another school. To make matters worse, I’ve had a motorcycle license in my home country for 20 years and have been riding motorcycles since I was 12. I would not recommend this place to anyone—avoid at all costs!
Hi Daniel thank you for sharing your thoughts. Would you will be willing to contact the office and ask for the training manger so he can discuss your feedback in more depth. We would like the opportunity to learn more. Respectfully team WMST.
Fantastic experience: MISHA WAS AWESOME AND THE WHOLE COURSE/CIRCICULUM IS WONDERFULLY PRACTICAL AND HELPFUL. - JORDAN/JARED
Fantastic experience: I took the BMC 3 day course with Cyndi Martin and she did an amazing job breaking everything down in a beginner friendly format. She made us feel safe and answered all the questions we had. Most of us never rode a bike before her 3 day class and she managed to teach ALL of us how to ride with good technique and safety procedures. Highly recommend working with Cyndi, especially if you're a beginner. She went above and beyond.
Fantastic experience: this place was amazing, i had Cyndi martin as my coach and she was spectacular, she was super patient with everyone and she is super funny in those 2 days of range i had with her she taught me alot of stuff and she gave us alot of helpful advice, overall 10/10 experience.
Fantastic experience: I recently took an endorsement class with James Winston and Elias Pedroza, and they were both absolutely amazing. They provided invaluable tips and techniques that not only focused on road safety but also boosted our confidence as riders. Their teaching style was clear, engaging, and highly effective. They went above and beyond to ensure we understood how to handle various situations on the road, making the entire experience both educational and enjoyable. I feel much more prepared and confident in my riding skills thanks to their guidance!
Fantastic experience: I found the 2 day beginner course worth it. I am a slow and anxious learner but Eli was extremely patient and encouraging. His instructions and words of encouragement helped me tremendously learn how to ride a motorcycle to get my permit. I highly recommend doing the course through WMST
Fantastic experience: Pedroza is an excellent instructor. He explains well, coaches well, and demonstrates the skills of riding a motorcycle effectively.
Fantastic experience: Had a great time today taking my endorsement tests and learning some new skills! Ken and Mishah were great teachers!
Negative experience: Poor excuse for a training school. Do not advertise a beginner-friendly course for non-riders with zero experience, then kick a student from the course for following instructions. We were told to straighten out the bike and stop if we have an issue during an exercise. But when I did so safely, without any other riders nearby, I was kicked from the course and told I was a danger to myself and others. "Instructors" Misha and Jack did very little instructing and even said the beginner course is not the place to ask questions. If you want to ask a lot of questions, take the KickStarter course. Makes perfect sense! Why would you be able to ask questions at a beginner course? Sorry about that, guys. Guess I'll forfeit my $350 from the beginner course, go sign up for the $150 KickStarter course to ask my questions, then re-enroll for the $350 beginner course once I'm an expert. Good business model for WMST since I'd be out nearly a thousand bucks for no reason. Give a warning before kicking someone out. Don't claim that you'll pull struggling students aside to work with them more, then kick them out instead. Give students an idea of what behavior can get them kicked out ahead of time. Better yet, don't tell them they can do something, then kick them out when they do it. Also, when a student says a bike doesn't fit them, it doesn't fit them. Any respectable motorcycle rider knows you shouldn't ride a bike with a seat height too tall for you; it's dangerous and detrimental to the learning process. Misha has no regard for student concerns, even when I explicitly addressed my bike with her. Another student in the class even mentioned in passing that the bike was too tall for me and looked uncomfortable. How can you hope to inspire confidence in a new rider if you give them an inappropriate bike (in egregious disrepair, by the way) and dismiss them when they express concern? Don't waste your money on this "beginner-friendly" course. Learn somewhere else, anywhere else.
Andrew, thank you for taking the time to give some detailed feedback. I would like the opportunity to learn more as I have for last 15years. Would you be willing to contact the office and ask for Chris Johnson the CEO and founder of WMST. We train and test over 12,000 people a year and we are always looking for the opportunity to learn and improve our program. I look forward to speaking and learning more.
Fantastic experience: I learned trail breaking today in the Street Skills class! What a difference that’s going to make in cornering! Thanks to Brent for his patient, knowledge guided instruction! I will be back!
Fantastic experience: What a great refresher. I had definitely gotten lax with some skills, and this class helped me bring these skills and the practice of the skills back into focus. Street skills 101, is definitely a must do!
Fantastic experience: Great street skills course to refresh your critical life saving skills in braking and cornering.
Fantastic experience: Jim is the man! I have terrible test anxiety usually and I felt super comfortable during my written and permit drive. Great teacher and a great leader!
Fantastic experience: Eli and Leroy were absolutely brilliant. They were both instrumental in my growth the two days I took the Beginner Permit Course. I felt very comfortable asking as many questions and clarifications as I needed. The classroom portion was very informative. I felt very comfortable on two wheels after the riding portion of the course. I am now prepared for real life situations on a motorcycle and will continue to take course’s with Eli and Leroy’s in the future. Would recommend to anyone looking to learn in a relaxed environment and low stress. Learn the risk aspect of riding a motorcycle and how to prevent these simple mistakes. Then the basic fundamentals emphasizing on being smooth and keeping eyes always up, how to emergency stop, and how to do a U-turn. Many useful things for everyday life. 10/10 would recommend again!
Fantastic experience: Special shout out to Shannon and Andrew Shannon in Mukkalteo Location office Was a great help I'm dyslexic and I went in there to take my knowledge test. She made me feel welcome. She took a lot of stress and pressure off me. Her dog was such an amazing emotional support. It was able to calm my nerves down a lot She understood that I was gonna need a lot more time to be able to take my test and she was patient and for that I am thankful I was able to pass And shout out to Andrew spent the last 2 days in the classroom, and on the range with him, we had a small group of 7 people and none of us knew how to ride. But within an hour on the range he was able to get us riding back-and-forth. It was an amazing experience. We couldn't have asked for a better instructor. He was patient knowledgeable and took his time. Not once did he lose his patience and let me tell you we had a few people in our class That dropping bikes all the time stalling out, but he always had a big smile on his face. It's okay, you're here to learn that what he kept saying and he was able to calm down a lot of frustration, and we were able To learn a lot, so thank you.The both of you Looking forward to taking my endorsement class with him
Positive experience: PERMIT. ENDORSEMENT. STREET SKILLS. I TOOK THEM ALL... One month ago, I have never touched a motorcycle. I thought they looked really cool on social media, and I spontaneously decided to give it a try. Now, after taking these classes, I am extremely confident in my riding abilities to tackle challenging corners and emergency breakings (hallmarks of motorcycle skills). Here are my honest thoughts on each class: 1) Permit class 5/5 I loved this class. I had Elias as my instructor and he's awesome. Elias was extremely patient and professional by thoroughly explaining the science behind the foundations of motorcycle riding (e.g. lean=risk, 100 points of traction, countersteering, progressive squeezing, etc). This is where I gained the bulk of my motorcycle knowledge. My class had an awesome environment where we all supported each other. Unfortunately, when I was taking the skills test, I really messed up the U-turn maneuver and I failed. Although I was really bummed, I still thought this class was invaluable. 2)Permit test retake 4.5/5 I had Ken as my instructor (cool dude). Instead of retaking the entire class, we just practiced the skills test for an hour and then took the real test. As we were practicing, Ken gave really feedback on what not to do. For example, I was still messing up on the U-turn maneuver but Ken told me to not use front breaks, but the rear breaks. That was a game changer. Because of that, I passed! 3) Endorsement Class 2/5 I had James as my instructor. I did not like James (kinda of an @ss). I didn't really didn't learn anything. When I tried asking questions, it was just met with attitude and didn't explain in-depth the reason why. Maybe this could be because I'm a younger guy? IDK. Anyways, by this time, I had my own bike that I was comfortable with, so I passed. 4) Streets Skills 101 4/5 I had Brent as my instructor, and I really liked him. He is very humble and did a great job explaining each concept. Class size was a lot smaller, so you could get a lot of feedback. The focus of this class is only on two things: emergency breaking and advanced cornering techniques. I realized that I was really only using 70% of my bike's breaking potential, and this class helped me unlock that 30% part that I was missing. For cornering, this class really demonstrated the importance of trail-breaking and speed=radius. Summary: The experience that you get from each class, is going to depend on the instructor. That being said, I would say most of the instructors are great. So, if you are a beginner looking to get into motorcycling, please take a class.
Fantastic experience: Very helpful. I’ve been riding over 20 years, and it was helpful to re-learn and fine tune a number of areas regarding maneuvering and road safety. Brent was awesome, and the class was very welcoming and relaxed.
Fantastic experience: Street skills 101 coarse was very eye opening and fun. Adequate coaching.
Fantastic experience: Great time doing the Motorcycle 101 class
Fantastic experience: Elli is so kind and patient with new riders and still kept the class fun! Really glad he was there!
Fantastic experience: I had Kickstart Course with instructor Elias. Elias was very knowledgeable and professional, and patient. He answered all my questions and gave useful advice. I think he paid extra attention to me because he noticed that I’m nervous. Instructor Elias was very attentive to all of his students and always was ready to help and explain. After the course I managed to overcome my inner fear of motorcycle. And I’m ready to take next steps. I would like to add updates. 1) I took Beginner class in the beginning of September 2024. Elias and Leroy are awesome instructors. They gave us support and explained everything patiently and clearly. The atmosphere in our group was warm and supportive. No Seattle freeze at all. And guess what?! I’ve got my permit! 2) Yesterday, 10/11/24 I took endorsement class. James and Elias (yes, I’m a biggest fan of Elias - he is a brilliant teacher) were our instructors. For me personally the class was advanced. But with patient support from our instructors I managed to get my endorsement. I still feel like I need more training sessions, but it is my personal thing. More likely I will come back for more classes (of course with Elias). And I want to add some more. When I was taking the Beginner class, there was an Advanced class before mine. The class looked so fabulous! But the thing that amazed me most of all - the students in the class were our instructors! I think it is very good sign that instructors themselves take classes in their school and keep improving their skills. Thanks a lot for everything. I’ll be back! Hugs for all instructors!
Fantastic experience: I didn't do any research prior to joining this school if i'm going to be honest. Luckily, the experience turned out amazing! The main instructor Elias, was very knowledgable, patient, and was willing to answer any questions you had. He presented the curriculum in an easy to understand manner, and kept it entertaining. on the range, he showed the same patients and knowledge, giving feedback and offering tips to improve. The range instructors Nick, and Jasmine were also amazing! They were patient and entertaining as well. They were willing to answer problems you had and would give you feedback, and offer advice to get better. 5/5 i highly reccommend going to this school for training!
David thank you so much for your time your comments and feedback. I will ensure that your thoughts are shared with the team and would also like to thank you for choosing WMST.
Fantastic experience: Was out for street skills training and the course was well taught and covered all areas to improve on street skills. Im now more confident with my conering and trail braking.
Thank you for your time and feedback. We will share your thoughts with the team as they love to hear from the customers. Safe Travels!
Fantastic experience: Street skills offered great instruction! I’ve been riding for 15 years, and still learned a ton that I’ll be taking to the streets
Thank you for your time and your feedback. We love to hear from our customers post class as it has always helped us improve our program. You Rock!
Fantastic experience: Street skills 101. Excellent feedback from instructors. Helped me to improve cornering and braking skills.
Way to improve your knowledge, Lowe your risk and enjoy the ride!
Fantastic experience: Had a lot of fun doing back to back permit and endorsement courses at WMST Auburn. Chuck, Carl, Greg and Misha all thought with a great attitude and sense of humor. Special thanks to Misha who called out ways to tweak my personal riding style 5 times. At one occasion she even showed me a short recording of my cornering on her phone to point out how I can improve my posture. I got so much more from this weekend than the endorsement.
Thank you for your time and feedback. We will share your thoughts with the team as they love to hear from the customers. Yes, MIsha does rock! Safe Travels
Fantastic experience: This is a great facility. Take the full day riding permit class and test. It's worth every penny. They teach you everything you need. You ride for 5 hours before you test so you feel incredibly confident on your bike. James and Ken are amazing. Incredible instructors
Wow! Thank you for taking the time to be so detailed.Everyone at WMST appreciates this level of feedback. Ride safe!
Fantastic experience: This was an amazing experience. Misha and Chuck are awesome instructors and both are extremely knowledgeable and will teach you to be the best rider you can be, so long as you stay on their good side by listening closely and following directions. Got a good feeling Chuck can knock a man out with his rear wheel so don't piss him off. I will definitely be coming back for my endorsement training.
Oh my gosh, that is so on point and funny. Chuck and Misha have a true passion to ensure that their riders get everything they have to give. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Fantastic experience: Took my permit class with James Winston and endorsemnt class with him and Misha. Both are great instructors the riding fundamentals from the classes have kept me alive on the street. The classes were fun and the live feedback helped kick bad habbits while riding.
Thank you for your feedback. We will be sure to let the team know. Safe travels!
Fantastic experience: WMST Motorcycle training courses are well presented and professionally taught. The two instructors, James W. And Misha S., were both very helpful, knowledgeable and professional in helping me get my motorcycle endorsement. Also, the two of them made a long day fun! Thanks again!
Thank you for your time and your hard work. We will make sure the team receives your feedback. Ride safe!
Fantastic experience: Fun class, good instructors
Fantastic experience: Great experience, even if you're on the fence about riding a motorcycle. Very informative class and the instructors are very kind, helpful, and do a great job of making things fun! Would highly recommend the beginner permit course here.
Fantastic experience: I absolutely loved this class. Jim and Misha were excellent instructors. Both were incredibly knowledgable, encouraging, informative, and helped with on the spot one on one training during group sessions. This class boosted my confidence in a matter of hours of riding! I'm anxiously waiting for the DOL to update my permit for me to add it to my license so that I can get on the roads!
Fantastic experience: Great time, pretty straightforward, pay attention, be careful, and you should pass. Jim and misha were awesome instructors. Strongly recommend!
Fantastic experience: The class was so informative and easy. Jim and Misha were so helpful. They took the time to pull you aside and explain things you were struggling with. They cheered you on. The outdoors class was fun and felt safe. Would highly recommend!
Fantastic experience: Jim did a great job as a trainer. I learned a lot of important techniques most especially on how to do the proper and safe way of cornering in an open road. I improved bigtime and I am very much grateful! Misha his co-trainer was very helpful and informative as well! Thank you very much to both of you! You explain every detail to us perfectly! Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Negative experience: Their office in a mall , very hard to find location, instructors are extremely rude ! No respect ❌
Walter, that's very interesting feedback. 100s of businesses are in a Mall and our staff are trained in communication and their professionalism we know is high. I ask you contact the office and share your experience with the CEO on order for us to learn why your feedback is not conducive with our normal service. We appreciate your time. Chris Johnson CEO.
Negative experience: I was expecting a confirm from school. I found their email in junk box. I called school no one answered phones . They have a store in mall which is open 10 am but their course start 8:00 I could find entrance all off them locked . I checked around all mall and i found loading dock entrance when I found their location the rude guy he pushed me and said go out and take the course again. Definitely find a another course guy NOT HERE
Bir, your feedback is a little off here. It is usual for emails to go to junk accounts from an unknown source. We do not have staff at 7.30 am and have never had staff in the last 15 years. There are apparent instructions embodied in the email to direct you to write to the front door for the classroom. As for you being pushed, that is so far from the truth. Our staff are trained not to touch anyone without asking for at least asking first. Please contactvthenoffoce and ask for the CEO so we can learn mmore about your feedback.
Fantastic experience: Fun class. Great instructors
Thank you Arslan.
Fantastic experience: I learned so much from Will and Misha. They both are very helpful giving feedback, then you can take that into account when practicing. I really encourage anyone to take these courses even if you already have some experience and don’t think it’s necessary. I have experience riding off road and I still learned more skills and techniques from the intermediate permit course. My driving is definitely safer for the roads.
Hi Sharlene, thank you for the feedback we will share your thoughts with the team, Will, and Misha.
Fantastic experience: My son and I signed up for their permit course. I had already had a good experience with their Everett location for normal licensing needs so I felt compfortable going here for motorcycle training. Just like Everett, the staff is wonderful and they make it easy and quick to do business with. Our instructor, Jim, was fantastic. Great personality and cared about us doing the excercises correctly and continually coached us throughout the day.
Hey Wesley, thank you for trusting us with your Son and taking motorcycle training with us. We will pass your comments onto the team and Jim. Be safe and ride well.
Negative experience: Please please make sure that you sign to the right class because they won’t work with you to get you in the right class. Intrusctor excepcional but management sucks!!!
Hi Cynthia, sorry to hear your feedback was not positive. The staff follow Standard operating procedures in place that are quite common with Motorcycle training entities. If you would still like to take training call the office and ask for the CEO. He is always willing to listen and learn more. Thank you for your time.
Fantastic experience: I took my permit and endorsement from here. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Especially Instructor James(Jim) take care of every single step you make while learning and teach you best way to get successful in your endorsements. Overall great experience. Who thinking not to waste money and get everything done in proper ways recommend to visit this school.
Thank you Trarnjit, thank you for your comments. We will let Jim know thoughts and look forward to seeing you again.
Fantastic experience: Jim/James was a great instructor I learned a lot and had fun
Thank you Thomas, Jim and James will love to hear you had a positive experience.
Fantastic experience: I loved this class. My instructor Jim was super patient and kind and had full knowledge and vast experience to share. He mixed good fun humor with firm facts of the education. I felt intimidated the first day of training and end of second day I could ride ! So excited to get my first bike. I highly recommend this course ! I even signed up next week for another !
Hey Colette, we are so happy to her you had a great experience with the class and Jim. We look forward to seeing you again. How cool is your first bike!!!
Fantastic experience: They give you every tool you need to pass and the rest is on you. The instructor Jim was awesome it made the 4 hours in the rain almost bearable.
Fantastic experience: Went there for the one day returning rider training with endorsement testing included. Overall I had a good experience and the instructions provided were useful and helped me get the endorsement without any issues.
Fantastic experience: My instructor james winston was an awesome instructor and very helpfull im definitely recommend this class to everyone beginning to ride.
Fantastic experience: James Winston is an amazing coach/instructor he gave great pointers on what is wrong and what can be done better, he was very patient and kind just an overall great experience all thanks to the Instructor. Thank you for being great James
Fantastic experience: The process of getting my permit and then endorsement was smooth and straightforward. A big shoutout to my instructors Chuck and Misha! You both did an amazing job. Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Fantastic experience: I recently took the intermediate permit course in Auburn with Jim as my instructor. I personally wish I could rate this experience higher than 5 stars and it is mostly because of Jim. During the classroom instruction he was engaging, knowledgeable, professional and honestly seemed happy to just be there and share his wisdom. Skipping forward to the riding instruction. It was pouring rain the entire time, but it did not stop Jim from having a good time. He explained everything to us very well, let us ask endless questions and never got annoyed or upset if we didn't get it right away. I will be the first to admit I was the least skilled rider in the course that day, but he never once made me feel any less capable than any of my classmates. I will definitely be returning for my endorsement refresher course and endorsement testing.
Fantastic experience: I took the Beginner- Permit course. The instructor was William Niva with support from Chuck Swesey. My only prior experience on a motorcycle was the same school's three hour Kickstarter course, which was good. I was impressed by the Permit course. The instructors were professional, knowledgeable and very good at teaching/instructing. They couldn't have done a better job at passing along the fundamental concepts for safety, physics of riding, and riding techniques, and making sure we all understood them. They did a really good job breaking down the cardinal elements involved in maximizing the rider's safety, and drilling those in. Great balance between teaching/explaining and practice in a relaxed yet serious and professional environment. On top of it the instructors were engaging, passionate, and fun! I passed the test and will 100% come back for my next courses. Thank you!
Fantastic experience: I took my permit & endorsement class here. Both experiences were great. I expected it to be boring sitting in class for a couple hours but James Winston made it awesome. It was a fun learning experience and he made class really enjoyable with lots of stories. I would highly recommend scheduling with James for any class you take at WMST.
Fantastic experience: this is fun I recommended it Mr James Winston best motorcycle instructor !
Fantastic experience: Took the Intermediate - Learn to Ride Refresher course. The instructor James (Jim) was super friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us adequate practice drills before our test and made sure we were comfortable with our bikes. Overall, it was a good day of learning and fun, meeting new people and sharing our excitement to ride! Will definitely be back here for the Advanced Course :)
Fantastic experience: Had a great time in the intermediate refresher course with James Winston, highly recommend for riders of all levels
Fantastic experience: Jim Winston is super knowledgeable and a great instructor. Had a great time and learned a lot at the class. Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: I took three courses and all of them were professionally run. The instructors were knowledgeable, friendly, and most of all, patient, very encouraging and didn't shy away from constructive coaching. I have a special call-out to James Winston. He is a great instructor and I would encourage anybody to try to get into his class. I also have a call-out to Emilee, a staffer. She went above and beyond helping me with class scheduling, timing, and getting my scores loaded to beat a permit expiration. I had a 5 star experience all around with this organization.
Fantastic experience: Jim Winston was awesome. He’s funny, kind, and patient with everyone. We took our endorsement riding portion in about 36 degrees and rain… he made it fun and enjoyable! Hope you get your new truck back without scratches!
Fantastic experience: Great training. All the instructors I was able to take training and testing from did a fantastic job. Jim was just one of them. He had a great way of giving instructions and making sure everyone understood them. He also made you feel at ease with the training and testing. I would recommend them to anyone wanting training or testing. Thanks for all the great traing and experience.
Fantastic experience: I recommend taking classes with James Winston. I learned a great deal, and I had a great time.
Fantastic experience: David E is an amazing instructor, he doesn't rush you and gives you the time to gain the needed skills.
Negative experience: I when to do my endorsment to this school and everything was good but I when back do my permit and I think something is wrong because they don't want to return my deposit because I don't want to take the course the they they want me too. It's sad to pay at front and hard to accept that I lost $225.00 for nothing Becarefull when you pay foe something read always the reviews
Fantastic experience: I've taken 4 classes with WMST-Auburn. Every one has been great! The instructors provide exceptional coaching not just to help you pass the tests, but for overall safety on the road. The classes are small enough to allow for ample time on the range and some individualized coaching. Everyone is supportive and cheers you on as you go. I took the 3-wheeler class most recently to tag along with a buddy who was planning to get one. Never hurts to have that extra endorsement, and the spending the day on the course and with fellow enthusiasts is simply fun. I highly recommend treating yourself! If you can, sign up for classes run by Kat and Carl. I'll be back for more!
Fantastic experience: Street Skills 101-excellent course in a spacious and controlled environment with just the right amount of practice. I feel a lot more capable of handling surprises as I was able to find the limits of my bike. This course also allows me to be a more relaxed rider. Plenty of practice to get comfortable using my new skills so when I practice on my own I will remember what and how to do it right. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: Incredibly unforgiving and insensitive policies. I hope you don’t have any unforeseeable unavoidable tragedy happen to you. You won’t get your money back and they are not willing to work with you or reschedule. Even if you offer to provide proof. Spend your time and money elsewhere.
Jessica, we wish we could change our policies that are in place, however if we did we would lose our opportunity to continue to provide quality training for over the last 14 years. If you feel you was unaware of our policies when signing up we would like to learn how we could have made that clearer. Thank you for your time. Chris Johnson CEO
Negative experience: I had a pretty bad experience doing my riding courses at WMST Auburn, primarily due to my instructor. Misha, who seems like a seasoned and experienced rider is extremely rude down to the point it becomes discouraging and disrespectful. A couple of things struck out to me as strange, given she is teaching new riders 1. She becomes rude when asked to explain the path of travel in detail during any of the courses. When setting up the cones for the class, she often left cones which were not related to exercises which created confusion. On one occasion during training run, i asked her to clarify the path, and she acted exasperated and said to other riders in my group - “can someone explain it to him”. During my endorsement test, I tried to get another clarification , and I saw her face turn red. Without answering me, she kept staring at me, to the point that other riders in the group felt uncomfortable and started telling me the path of travel! 2. During my permit training, obstacle avoidance she did a riding demo, intentionally going at a very fast pace, riding over and blowing off a cone with her rear tire in the process. While it looked cool, that is not what riders should expect to emulate on their permit test. As a motorcyclist who was getting back to riding after a good 10 years, i found her coaching to be ineffective and discouraging. I soon did manage to get a permit and endorsement , and worked with other instructors along the way (Cindi and Matthew (everett)) who were great, and realized how much of a difference a good instructor can make on your confidence and riding.
Negative experience: if you are late, it means you won’t get your money back and won’t get a new appointment. Thanks only to the employee Emilee who tried to help. but the instructors told her no. It is very difficult to find a classroom in Auburn 1101 Outlet Collection Way. We are refugees and live in a shelter. It’s sad when it’s the teacher who doesn’t care about his students. They gave us a piece of paper and the teacher said. If you are late, this does not provide the opportunity for further admission. she didn't even listen to us. All they offered was a 10% discount on re-payment. we were late only because we had been looking for a class room for a long time. It's really not easy to find at that address
Fantastic experience: I love businesses that work with you. WMST is actually one of those businesses and so far, I am happy with everyone who works here. I failed my permit test, and rightfully so, I am in no way ready. However, staff were happy to reschedule me.. especially Kimberlie, Emilee and Esmeralda. Instructors Mike (Everett) and Jack (Auburn) were great and very helpful. Hopefully I pass on my next try in a few months. Just a quick disclaimer...the class is for beginners, but kind of sort of not? I recommend getting your hands and wrists in shape before you go. You will be using them a lot. And if you get a chance to practice on a friend's or family's motorcycle, do it safely before the class!!! It will help you greatly.
Fantastic experience: Great company! I took the permit, endorsement, and street skills courses which were helpful in building my skills.
Fantastic experience: Did Street Skills 101 learned a stack!
Fantastic experience: Great experience! I had an awesome class of people from all walks of life and experience levels that were ready to help out beginners. The instructors, Misha and Cyndi, were awesome! They were both focused on safety, best riding practices, and overall having fun. Thanks to Misha who truly gave amazing coaching and demos that really clicked with me during the permit retest. I was letting my nerves get the best of me but she picked up on that and was patient and gave great advice that led me to passing with flying colors. Thanks again!
Fantastic experience: I've trained here twice now. After the first class I went cross country on my motorcycle. I primarily had been concerned about what I'd heard about roads like the tail of the dragon. Im a fairly seasoned rider, But the strategies thaT Brent taught me were running through my head the entire way across the United States! When to brake, where to look, reaction timing. The skills he taught made me a more confident rider. I reccomend this class to anyone, new rider or experienced. Brent was very good at working within my abities and coaching me through the process in a way that the class was a great experience
Negative experience: UPDATE: I responded to the company CEO’s public request to call the office and speak with the manager to resolve this issue. Despite doing so and leaving messages via phone, email, and social media messaging channels, the company has not responded and I have not received a call back from a manager or Mr. Johnson himself, and no further action has been taken by WMST. It appears that WMST stands behind their unreasonable rescheduling policy, no matter what the CEO’s public reply here states. I signed up for a one day Motorcycle Endorsement class after taking the initial permit class with WMST. I had to cancel my class participation a day prior due to illness, and soon found out that I cannot reschedule due to the 10-day cancellation policy and I was indeed expected to pay the full cost of a new class to reschedule. The school thus endorses riding when unwell with this policy - hardly the right philosophy for a safety school. When I asked Kimberly, the coordinator, about this, and why I could not simply reschedule the class when I had no control over falling ill (let alone know about it 10 days prior), she likened the school to a rock concert and told me that "Billy Eilish does not refund you a concert ticket if you don't go". She also stated that "we don't know if you were really sick or just decided not to show up". Finally she offered a discount from a future class but was unwilling to put in writing. Instead, she sent me an invoice for a new class cost that she demanded I pay the same day in order to benefit from this "exception" - without the opportunity to even schedule the class yet. I cannot endorse a school with a cancellation policy that encourages people to show up sick or unsafe to ride or lose the money. There is no safety in that. It does not help to have rude office staff either. This is disappointing, as the instructors in my original class did a nice job and are victims of the school policies.
Laura, thank you for taking the time to share your views and comments. After reading your review some of the facts you state do are not in line with our schools reschedule procedure. Would you please contact the office and ask for the manger so we can fully understand the situation. We are looking forward to hearing from you and learning on how to improve our communications. Chris Johnson CEO.
Fantastic experience: An Exceptional Learning Experience with Brent at Washington Motorcycle Safety Training's Street Skills Course. After a disheartening motorcycle accident, my confidence was at an all-time low. It was during this time that my coworker John, a WMST instructor, recommended I take the Street Skills course to regain my confidence and improve my riding skills. Little did I know that this course, led by instructor Brent, would not only transform my riding abilities but also leave me with an overwhelmingly positive experience. Upon signing up for the Street Skills course, I was welcomed by Brent's professionalism and expertise from the very beginning. His passion for motorcycling and commitment to safety was evident in every aspect of the course. Brent exuded a level of knowledge and mastery that immediately put me at ease, assuring me that I was in capable hands. Throughout the course, Brent's teaching style was exemplary. He struck the perfect balance between being approachable and maintaining a structured learning environment. As we delved into various techniques, such as trail braking, negotiating decreasing radius corners, avoiding emergencies, and understanding motorcycle dynamics, Brent's instruction was clear, concise, and incredibly insightful. Each lesson was carefully crafted, ensuring that we grasped the concepts thoroughly before moving on to the next challenge. One of the standout aspects of the course was Brent's ability to provide critical feedback in a constructive and encouraging manner. He attentively observed each participant's performance and tailored his guidance to address individual strengths and areas for improvement. His feedback was instrumental in helping us grow as riders and gain confidence in our abilities. But it wasn't just Brent's knowledge that impressed me; it was his skillful demonstrations that truly set him apart. He made even the most complex maneuvers appear effortless, demonstrating a level of mastery that inspired us to strive for excellence. Brent's demonstrations not only showcased his expertise but also instilled in us a belief that we could achieve similar proficiency with dedication and practice. The Street Skills course itself was a well-structured and comprehensive program. It covered essential aspects of motorcycle riding, giving us a comprehensive understanding of how to handle various real-life scenarios. From dealing with tight corners to navigating emergency situations, the course left no stone unturned. I must also commend the organization and logistics of the course. Moreover, the focus on safety was commendable. We were required to have a motorcycle permit or endorsement, ensuring that all participants had the necessary basic skills to build upon during the course. In conclusion, my experience with the Street Skills course at Washington Motorcycle Safety Training, under the expert guidance of Brent, was nothing short of exceptional. Not only did I learn invaluable techniques that enhanced my riding abilities, but I also rediscovered my confidence on the motorcycle. Brent's professionalism, dedication, and expertise as an instructor were truly second to none. I would wholeheartedly recommend this course to any motorcyclist looking to improve their skills and take their riding to the next level. Thank you, Brent, and the entire WMST team, for providing such an outstanding learning opportunity!
Fantastic experience: Took the Advanced Street Skills Class, and it is a must take course for all riders. With all the motorcycle fatalities we hear of, it is imperative that riders to learn how to avoid an accident.
Fantastic experience: Brent taught a good class. I have a lot of old school habits I have to correct. Trailbrake, trailbrake!
Fantastic experience: My Street Skills class with Brent was great. It helped me get more comfortable on my bike and gained confidence in my riding. Everyone needs to keep learning and improving their skill.
Fantastic experience: Jim and Misha were fantastic instructors! They had, quite frankly, eased us into the process as best as they could. No one was left behind, and they were incredibly attentive towards the class as a whole. They not only provided instructions for the range assignments, but demonstrated actual examples which made the process so much more comprehensive. Overall I do not understand some of the negative reviews at all, give it your all and listen to the fine instructors and you'll be fine for the beginners course. I do however recommend to at least have the theory of manual transmissions (cars or bikes) under wraps by either reading up on it or watching vids. It'll def help! (...Also I would like to thank Jim for the banana he had gifted me when I was feeling sick, nicotine sickness is no joke).
Positive experience: Great instructor. I was disappointed as it was not an on the road skills class as I was led to believe prior to spending my money.
Fantastic experience: Great way to become a safer rider! Street Skills 101 with Brent was worth the time and money!
Fantastic experience: I took the street skills 101 class. I learned essential skills that all riders should know! I was able to push my bike to new limits that I wasn’t aware it was capable of!
Fantastic experience: Took the street skills course with Brent. Really focused on learning the braking limits of your bike, and he drilled in how to use trail braking while making us practice the difference between trail braking and non trail braking turns. The feedback was good and immediate, and he was able to provide individual feedback every few rounds. Highly recommend!
Negative experience: Misha who worked as a motorcycle instructor at wmst. Misha had a tough demeanor and no-nonsense attitude, which often made me and her students feel intimidated and uncomfortable. Misha was a stickler for rules, and she made sure that her students followed them to the letter. She would often yell at us and other students who made even the slightest mistake, making them feel embarrassed and ashamed. But that wasn't the worst of it. Misha was also notorious for gossiping about her students behind their backs. She would talk about their riding skills, their personal lives, and even their appearances with her colleagues, spreading rumors and creating an uncomfortable environment for her students. To make matters worse, Misha was also neglectful of the motorcycles used for training. She never bothered to check their condition or perform regular maintenance, leading to accidents and injuries among her students. RUN AWAY TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSE WHERE!! I recommend puget sound saftey training
Hello Nhuy. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Would you be willing to contact the office and ask for the training manger so we can learn about your comments. Thank you for your time.
Negative experience: What should I say, this was an awful experience. The staff Misha, although I thought she was a good rider and instructor was rude in explaining what happened during the test and rushed me out of the endorsement test after I was given a retry for braking. I was given a very old motorcycle that had throttle issues. The throttle would not pick up at times and I noticed that during training. When I was lining up, and during the first run, the throttle no matter how much I pressed, would not take off the bike. It was just slow. It was a Honda rebel that probably needs desperate maintenance. I looked at the speedometer and i was told not to look at it. When I told Misha if I could do a run in a different bike, she rushed to say that they didn't have one and asked me to pay for a retest which I did because I'm travelling and I need this endorsement but she said, it's not the bike but it was me. How can I speed up if the bike doesn't agree with the throttle? The least they could have done is asked me to stay a bit and given me a chance on a different bike that didn't have issues. As I was walking by, she was telling the other instructor that i was complaining about the bike I would find a better place that cares more about the concerns brought up than someone who wants to rush to get another test done. Honestly, the older bikes with throttle issues needs to go. I hope this helps others looking to get their endorsement or training done to look elsewhere because they don't care. They are here just for the money making business.
Fantastic experience: These guys are the real deal. I had Greg as an instructor. He specifically took time to teach me life saving skills and dynamic thinking on a motorcycle. I had such an awesome weekend training and learning. I was able to get my permit to ride in one weekend. Totally worth it. Recommend to all.
Fantastic experience: Took the returning rider course with Jim Winston. Jim was great. He makes the course fun and low stress. Jim has great stories that bring the content of the course on motorcycle safety and skills into reality. Jim has a wealth of knowledge and skill, so you know you're learning from a top-quality trainer. Thanks again Jim! It's too bad you don't teach Street Skills.
Negative experience: The reason I am giving WMST Auburn a one star is mainly to get the attention of management. It seems they only respond to negative reviews. First off, I think Mischa is a good instructor. I believe she was just following company policy. My problem is the description of this class is misleading. It is called a "Beginners" course. The description clearly states riders with little to no experience. The no experience part made me believe that I was going to get training on how to ride a motorcycle and because it is a "beginners" course, mistakes were expected. I admit, I had a hard time with the throttle and clutch friction zone in the beginning but I believe I was figuring it out towards the end. I didn't stall, I didn't put anybody in danger, yet I was kicked out after the first lesson. There were only 7 people in the class so it wouldn't hurt to spend a little more time pointing out what I should be doing. The class was not cheap and the fact that I was told to take the Kickstarter class plus sign up again for the "beginners" course. That would put me at close to $1k just to get my permit. That's if I make it pass the "beginners" course the 2nd time. I'm pretty discouraged from getting my permit now. If I was to give it a second try, I would try a different company like Puget Sound Safety. The price is significantly better and if I'm going to fail, I might as well pay less.
Good morning sir, I look have spoken with the team in the office this morning and they are aware of yours thoughts. Please feel free to contact the office and ask for the training manger who would like to learn more about your thoughts and comments in order to set you up for success. Regards. Chris CEO.
Negative experience: Bunch of Karens… do not waste your time and money.
Fantastic experience: Great details taught in this course. I felt very confident taking the written and skills tests after taking the course. Thanks
