Negative experience: Update: I wish I could give 0 stars. Unfortunately, it seems that most of the five star reviews were paid for by Al himself to make his business look good which is a sad sight. He seems to be conning individuals left and right. Doesn't properly practice driving skills but instead just takes you straight into driving and will yell at you for every little mistake that you make instead of teaching you the proper skills like a rational person. He seems to be very blunt and that's okay but what's not okay is scamming people and talking down on people while they're driving, it'll probably lower one's confidence and motivation to schedule another lesson with you. Never talk to AL! He is bad and will be negative towards you, find a better driving school. Such a disgrace.

Negative experience: First time, I called, I was told they r going to call me back never happened. I had to call again, I don’t know why I called again! I should have searched anywhere else. Then, I got scheduled with the trainer Michael who came late and dropped me off before the time was out and took the $80 for 2 hours. We scheduled another lesson, he didn’t show up, he didn’t answer my phone calls or my message so I called the school who hanged up on me. They are the worst and not honest, I wouldn’t recommend them at all to anyone. I respect the time and I don’t like to be late.

Fantastic experience: Mr. Michael was my instructor. He was very patient with me. On our first scheduled class I misplaced my permit, but Mr Michael did not show any sign of disappointment. He scheduled my class for some other day without any additional fees. I passed my driving exam with just a single class. Mr Michael gave me all the information regarding parallel parking. And i was near to perfect in parallel parking in second try. I would definitely recommend this driving school to anyone.

Negative experience: Dont go to this school. Other schools are way better than this. On the day of the test, they came in 40 minutes late, did not provide proper practice and still took 150$. The instructor was also vey bad. Kept doing his personal stuff without giving proper lessons.

Fantastic experience: 5 star driving school, 5 words LEGIT, they help you schedule everything clear and simple, and took only 3 driving lessons with my great instructor named Michael. Michael had faith in me and worked at my pace, very patient and understanding! If i had to do this all over again i would go with Paul's Driving school and ask for Michael because first off i passed 1st go and i got all the road knowledge i needed when I've never had any in my 23 years until i choose this driving school. Fantastic experience: I have nothing but good things to say about this school. I was not paid to do this review, this is my HONEST review of this driving school. Firstly, let me give some background information to my driving history. I'm 22 years old, and I finally got around to getting my license this year because I needed one to go to job interviews, and events that were coming up. I got my permit early March of this year, and drove on and off for the next 6 months. I took my test twice in September, but both failed. I REALLY needed this license before the end of the year because my classes for next year required me to drive myself to designated sites off campus. One day, I found Paul's Driving school while looking up places to learn...because I really needed it ASAP. There were no rooms for mistakes. I asked for Steve for my first lesson and I have to tell you. He is -such- a phenomenal driving instructor. He makes you feel very comfortable behind the wheel, and will make you feel like a winner! What I love about Steve is that he genuinely cares about your success. HE WANTS YOU TO WIN! And that I did! I passed my driver's test, thanks to Steve!! If you want to WIN, I HIGHLY recommend Steve. What a great instructor, and a great guy! My only critique is that it was a bit iffy working with the secretary at times. Service could be better. But the lessons, the instructor, and everything else is A++++++!

Negative experience: I read a lot of good reviews online about Paul's driving school which played a part in me finally deciding to try it. My first lesson, I had Steve and I absolutely loved him! He was nice, friendly, a good instructor, and made me feel completely comfortable and safe on the road. I was so happy with my experience with him that I tried to set up another appointment with Steve the following week, just to found out that he took a vacation until September without informing anyone! So I thought that perhaps I could find another instructor from Paul's that would be just as good as Steve but I ended up with Curtis. Now, I read a lot of mixed reviews about Curtis but I thought to give him the benefit of the doubt and give it a go with him...big mistake. Curtis started off nicely enough when I first met him but I soon found out that he is incredibly arrogant, impatient, rude and just all around not a very good teacher. He would give me instructions at the last moment while driving and then yell at me for them, he would give me driving advice at the last second and then yell at me for not reacting as quickly as possible. He would randomly be on talking on his phone while I was DRIVING and give me silent hand instructions that I quickly had to learn while driving. He would talk about his phone and tried to show me things on his phone while I was trying to concentrate on driving. Even when I followed his instructions exactly, he still blamed me for things. I got so frustrated with him that I wanted to end the lesson early but I decided against it even as he grew frustrated with me, which is NOT what a teacher should do. He constantly talked about how hard driving is but it felt like he really couldn't be bothered with teaching me if he was getting frustrated with trying to teach me how to drive a complicated machine. I have incredibly bad anxiety and Curtis just made everything worse for so for my own mental health I will not be trying with Curtis again and I just may find a completely different driving school to go to. The only reason why I didn't give Paul's 1 star is simply because of the great experience I had with Steve.

Fantastic experience: I contacted Paul's Driving school about 2 weeks before my test. I was paired with Steve. I took 2 lessons a week apart and then took my test. I passed first try Steve was amazing I would recommend him to anyone. I am keeping his card for anyone who needs it. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

He talks down to you, and makes you feel as if you should not be driving.This is a school, and aren't schools there for you to learn? I took two lessons here and went to Drive Central- where Aaron is a friendly guy who prepares you for the test. I won't be coming back here until Curtis is gone. He is just too negative & doesn't like his job and it shows.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Paul's Driving school was great. After a few lessons I feel as though im a excellent driver. My instructor showed me everything I needed to know as a beginner to get me to where im at now with my licence. My first lesson I went on the express to work on my coordination and from that moment there I knew that Paul's was the perfect driving school for me. Overall I had a great experience, tackled all my challenges to pass my drivers exam on the first try and I would recommend if you are looking to practice driving to go to Paul's Driving School.

Fantastic experience: Paul's driving school definitely was a great experience. I driven before around my neighborhood but never really more than a mile or 2 away from my house. After just one driving lesson with Paul's Driving School, I gained a lot of confidence in my own ability, I drove on the highway which was a scary thought for me but it was far from being a scary experience. My instructor, Al, showed great patience, he taught me how to get comfortable and confident at highway speeds, by means of staying in my lanes on highways and highway turns. How to maintain proper speed and distance from the cars in front and I was taught not only skills that driving instructors specifically look for but also skills that will help me to be a great and safe driver in the long run.

Negative experience: We decided to take our daughter there for her lessons, and while I will say the instructors did help her pass the test, they did not really teach her how to drive. I know that sounds odd, but they never took her on a major roadway, and they taught her the way to park at the test site only. No good concepts for parking. The bigger concern would be the professionalism of the office staff. We never received a receipt for the school, despite many requests. We also never received the certificate so we could present it to the insurance company. We tried for over a month. They said they had mailed it a couple of times, then they said they would have someone drop it off, but it never happened. I called multiple times and left messages, never bothered returning my call. We had to finally go into the school and then she wrote up the certificate while standing in the office. Very unprofessional.

Negative experience: For a while, I've been taking driving lessons here in Philly, I’ve tried out at least three different driving schools, and Paul's Driving School was one of the first. I saw the great reviews and figured I might as well give it a shot. But I stopped taking these guys a while ago due to the deteriorating conditions of their cars, and the lack of service from their instructors. Not to mention this one guy called Curtis, who screams at you for every little mistake you make and criticises your ability to drive, even though you are there to learn. But here is an event that everyone should read about. After I quit on Paul’s Driving School, I started with a courteous and professional driving instructor and I’ve taken at least 8 lessons with him. When I was ready to take the test, I was looking for a convenient date on the DMV website and I could not find any. The only one I could find was at the PennDOT in Lebanon, Pennsylvania which is a good 2 hours away from Philly. Getting the driver’s license meant a lot to me, and I was calling all my friends, and also my current and previous driving instructors to see if they could take me to there for the test, but they were all saying “they’ll think about it”. I called up Paul’s driving school to give it a shot and see if they could take me down there, and the lady who answers the phone told me to call Al, the owner. I called him, and he actually set me up for a convenient test date at Bensalem. I thanked him multiple times for it. To honor his favour, I decided to go with him for the test. When it came time to take the test, he asked me to meet him at the test site over at Bensalem. I was aware that most instructors pick up their students from their residence and take them over to the site, but I shook it off. On the phone, I had asked him if I could pay by card since I had very little cash on me, and he said it was fine. When I got there, he said there was something wrong with his machine and he needed cash, after I said I didn’t have it, his machine miraculously started working again. Even then, he charged me a total of $210, with $190 from my card, and $20 of my cash money. After I passed the test, he came up to me and was begging me for tips. This was quite odd since no owner of any business asks for tips. So I gave him $20 more of my cash money. Later on when I called up my instructor that I normally take lessons with and was telling him that I passed the exam and everything that happened, I found out that my instructor actually used to work for Al at Paul’s Driving School. He informed me that Al had ripped me off by at least $100, and a lot of it being my cash money which I was short of. I also found out that he PAYS people to write good reviews about his service, Paul’s Driving School, and pays people who write negative reviews about him to take their comments off. Most of the reviews on here are about Chris, and he's a great instructor. Chris is also the reason his business is surviving. But this guy, Al, is the biggest scam artist I’ve ever seen since I moved in to Philadelphia.

Fantastic experience: I passed the driver’s exam on my first try thanks to the BEST driving instructor, Chris! He is professional, personable, and extremely knowledgeable about driving. Chris is very patient and one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He will kindly clarify or repeat anything you don’t understand. I had little driving experience and in just two lessons I was more than ready for the exam. The first lesson Chris had me drive around the entire city from the wide streets of West Phila, the highway (which wasn’t bad at all), the very narrow streets of South Phila, the congested streets of Center City, and the twists and turns of Kelly drive and Cobbs Creek. After my first lesson, I was more than comfortable driving every area of Philly and, yes, this was my first time driving the city. During my second lesson, I learned to parallel park in less than 15 minutes (seriously)! The day of my exam, I knew EVERYTHING to expect from beginning to end. I knew every instruction the examiner would say before he even instructed me to do it. Chris had me practice the driving exam beforehand so that by the time my exam came around; nothing even surprised me at all. I cannot recommend this school enough and it’s definitely worth every penny if you’re really ready for your license and don’t want to waste money on pointless lessons in a parking lot and taking a bunch of unnecessary lessons. If you’re even a little nervous or scared about driving like I was, one lesson with Chris will have you confident and eager to drive. Chris is truly an outstanding instructor!
