Motorcycle Training Center - Magnolia: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Fantastic training, great teacher. Learn the basics of operation and a lot of good safety practices. If you want to get on a bike go here first!
Fantastic experience: It’s been almost 5 years and over 35,000 miles since I got my motorcycle license and Brandy Fullers voice still rings in my head. I am so grateful for the excellent instruction I received from him. At the age of 60 and having never driven a motorcycle on my own, his no-nonsense teaching gave me confidence to ride some of the toughest roads in the USA. Thank you Brandy for caring so much for your students!
Fantastic experience: I took my Motorcycle Safety Foundation course from Brandy "Chips" Fuller a long time ago, but the lessons I learned from him help keep me alive today in Houston traffic. I'm proud to have the challenge coin I got from Chips and would recommend him to any of my family and friends. He knows his stuff and he cares about making his students as safe as possible.
Fantastic experience: I am posting 5 stars because I know how much reviews mean. I had a bad experience. I genuinely believe Chips thinks he is doing what is best for the students. He is so strict for no reason. Yes some things you MUST be strict on especially when it comes to the bike. But he turns people away at the littlest thing. People who pass his class are not just able to ride a motorcycle; they must be able to follow orders blindly
Fantastic experience: If you want a no nonsense course where you are going to learn in a safe environment, this is the course for you. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and was nervous coming into a class with zero experience. Mr. Fuller was a wonderful instructor that made sure I have the basics down in a safe and controlled environment. He does not "baby" anyone and everyone is expected to act like adults. Which makes sense in an environment were someone could get seriously hurt if everyone isn't doing what they're supposed to.
Fantastic experience: Inherited my father's motorcycle upon his passing. My 16 year old son was gifted one at the same time. Having not ridden in over 25+ years and only then on dirt bikes and to get our M endorsement, we enrolled in MTC magnolia through numerous recommendations. The one thing everyone said was be on time! Chips was tough, but if you listen to his instructions, you WILL pass. My 16 year old, with literally 20 min previous riding experience, passed the course. Chips is a fantastic instructor who keeps everyone safe and makes sure you are ready for the road. Thank you Chips!
Fantastic experience: Thank you Chips for teaching me to ride a motorcycle!!! Don’t let the negative reviews of those who failed bring you down. You’re the best!!
Fantastic experience: Chip, is a strict but very good teacher. He takes YOUR safety extremly serious. When it comes to your life, and others. He truely cares, that makes him having to be strict on that training course. You don't get breaks or second chances in the real road, you have one shot, to make the right moves Or it can cost you your life, or someone elses. Not only is he a excellent teacher. He checks in on his students to make sure they are doing well after the course. He teaches thousands of people!! I got into a very bad motorcycle accident oct of 2023 no fault of my own. He was one of the first people to stand up and help. He throw a small fundraiser to get me back on track in life again. He also messaged or called me once a week to check in on my healing progress. And almost a year and a half has gone by and he STILL checks in. Mind you, chips and I only met for the 2 days that I was in training. We never talked much to one another. So him helping like he did shows me what kind of person he truely is. If you decide to get your endorsement, I highly recommend Chips, not only is he an excellent teacher. He Serously cares about your safety... we need more teachers/people like that in the world, he is one of the few that teaches with his heart insted of teaching for just a paycheck.
Fantastic experience: Took my class on September 28th and 29th and had 0 experience on a bike beforehand. I was terrified going in but he made me feel super safe and a little more comfortable after the first day. After the 2nd day, I was super confident being in a bike. I got my first bike a couple days later and have not had any accidents. Chips is the best teacher I’ve ever had. I personally loved his teaching style and it worked for me. All you have to do is listen and pay attention. 10/10 experience I’ve recommended so many people just like my friend recommended me to him.
Fantastic experience: This is the best motorcycle class with the best instructor (chip) you could ever receive. I personally never rode before when take his class and felt completely confident in myself after this class. Anyone who leaves a negative review got their feelings hurt from either two reasons one being late to the class which is 100% your fault for being late and is not hard to follow. Second would be you got your feelings hurt by the instructor providing you with proper instructions to save your life when you are on the road and didn’t like they’ll tone in his voice from your safe space. Great class, and great instructor! Would recommend 100000% times over.
Fantastic experience: Chips is very professional and exceptionally knowledgable in the realm of motorcycles. I was lucky to be taught by someone with his amount of experience. In my opinion, if he’s being tough on his students, it’s because he cares if we live or die on the road and truly wants us to go on to enjoy riding safely. Any students that were removed from my class (and any other classes for that matter) were removed for 1) not following basic instructions or 2) being unsafe. Reviews that are upset with his adherence to the rules (“being turned away after being 5 minutes late” or “speaks to adults like a drill sergeant”) are most likely the people/type of people that were asked to leave for safety reasons or were unable to follow simple instructions like being on time (which is clearly stated that it is a rule enforced by the state of Texas for licensing, not a personal rule set by the instructors). There was no arrogance to Chips throughout the weekend, only concern for safety and learning to have fun on a motorcycle. Highly recommend to experienced and beginners, just know that this class is not a joke, it might save your life someday.
Fantastic experience: I signed up, completed and PASSED the MTC Magnolia class a few months back. I came in as a brand new rider with next to no knowledge on how to ride a motorcycle. I was nervous and definitely made some mistakes but my instructor, Chips, never gave up on me. He’s definitely stern and means business but I appreciated his teaching style. I knew I was safe and if I followed his instructions I’d learn and be successful. I definitely recommend this course and Chips as an instructor.
Fantastic experience: Chips is hard but fair. He will insist you pay attention to detail and instructions but it’s for a reason. If you cannot do that in a controlled environment you’ll not while riding.
Fantastic experience: Took this class years ago. Great instructor[CHIPS]. Come in willing to learn, not as a know it all and you'll do fine.
Negative experience: So I want to be fair in this review I think the instruction style used in this training might work for some people but I think it fails in many ways for others. I’ve taught adults in IT for 30 years as well as I have taught weekend SCUBA courses for over a decade. I realize teaching can be difficult and I give anyone credit for taking time to teach others. I’ve just never really been a big fan of the authoritarian styles of teaching. The “do it my way” style may work in military and police type schools but for weekend skills classes I think it’s over the top. The instructor’s approach of berating a student in front of the group may have its place in life and death instruction but not in a group of newbies learning to ride a motorcycle for enjoyment. I don’t question the safety aspects of the class at all and realize riding can be dangerous. I have taken weekend students on their first dives underwater I know how important safety is when we are undertaking something that has an element of risk. I just think you can point out someone’s error by just pointing out the mistake and asking them to correct it. It’s really all that is needed. The group is not responsible for each other, sure you can enlist their assistance, but it’s up the instructor to correct and coach individuals and do it in a positive manner. If you attend the class, your experience could be different and that is fine. My personal opinion is that the person teaching was quite knowledgable, he has a background in riding that others should envy, however, not a great communicator or coach. He could have definitely used an assistant's help with newer riders that needed additional support. I know if you have taught for a long time it can be hard to remember that everyone is new at something and learners respond differently and the instructor at times needs to adapt.
Negative experience: I read other reviews of Chip the instructor. Have not met someone that disrespectful in a while. Paying customers shouldn't be spoken to the way he speaks to people. There was pleasure in his voice when he turned myself and a follow rider away for being 5 min late. Condescending arrogance to him. I won't be rescheduling here. Parking lot was small and low class.
Fantastic experience: Chips is a very good instructor and cares about teaching new riders great foundations of riding! I would recommend this class for new or advanced riders!
Fantastic experience: Thank you so much "CHIPS" for your professional behaviour and training , i read following comments about you thats is absolutely false you are great INSTRUCTOR and very Professional towards your trainee, thank you so much once again SIR
Fantastic experience: I had come to this training center to get my motorcycle license so I could ride my scooter. I ended up training on a motorcycle instead of the scooter they had available bc Chips said it was easier to maneuver. What started out as me attending class on an automatic scooter, ended up as me learning how to independently manipulate four different controls with each of my appendages while simultaneously learning how to maneuver a 300 lb machine that I have never ridden before… IT. WAS. AWESOME. Chips was very patient with this “insanity” riddled person…I still can’t believe all I learned in such a short - brutally hot- proud of time and that I passed! What an incredible experience. Thanks Chips!
Fantastic experience: Mike was great! I went from arguably being the weakest link in my group to scoring the highest on the final test with zero faults and taking the crown…
Negative experience: The instructor Chips has a character defect. He takes on the persona of a drill sergeant and treats paying adults as subordinates. It’s quite bizarre and somewhat amusing to be barked at by a fellow adult. The instructor was extremely rude in the classroom and on the range. Clearly his business model is to get in the heads of all new riders so they either voluntarily quit or are asked to leave. Once the new riders are weeded out the instructor is then left with experienced riders. He can breeze through the class while pocketing the money of the customers who did not finish (there are no refunds). I realize there is a time schedule that the instructor must adhere to but there’s absolutely no excuse for being rude to clients who paid good money to be there. I ended up walking out and taking my course at a competing school in Tomball. The instructor was heads and shoulders more professional and patient and the course was not nearly as expensive.
Fantastic experience: Had a great experience with my training coach Chips . I learned more than I thought I would , had a great time learning with the class. I recommend getting your class here with Chips and I'll be back for the advanced riding class soon.
Love to hear that! Thank you Everett for the review.
Fantastic experience: I took the BRC twice with Chips, and each time was awesome. I ended up not passing the test the first time because I got in my head about it, but the second time I took the class/test was so much better and I had a lot more fun. Chips is a phenomenal instructor, engaging, funny and overall a great dude. I highly recommend taking the course with him; you’ll learn a ton, become a better rider and have a blast doing it! Thank you for everything Chips, I’m so excited to continue riding! :)
Hannah, Thank you for this review. I hope everyone reads it. If at first you don't succeed, right? So glad you came back and were successful. Not everyone passes on the first try and that's OK!. Most people do, and some people get very exited and unhappy if they don't but: 1) everyone starts from a different place and learns at a different pace and 2) If you have not met the level of skill needed to pass the class, we (are not happy about it but) would rather have you unhappy then have you out of the road and have an accident. Our primary concern is your safety! So glad you came back and were successful and shared this feedback. Have fun and stay safe out there!
Fantastic experience: CHIPs was absolutely amazing! First time riding an actual bike and learning how to shift he was patient and understanding. I’m proud to be one of his alumni!
Thank you Jan! Welcome to the ride.
Fantastic experience: I had an exceptional experience with CHiPs . His extensive knowledge and teaching style made the learning process enjoyable and effective. The personalized feedback and emphasis on safety created a comfortable environment. I highly recommend MTC and CHiPs for anyone looking to master motorcycle skills. Five stars without a doubt!
Thank you Dakota!
Fantastic experience: This class is AMAZING. As a “newbie,” this class provided exactly what I needed in order to increase my skill and knowledge. Chips is a wonderful instructor with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I can truly appreciate his passion for teaching this class. I came out of the class with more confidence and a better understanding on how to ride safely. He taught the class well, made it enjoyable, was timely, explained and demonstrated each exercise well. I would HIGHLY recommend this class to anyone…from a newbie to those who want to continue to refine/refresh their skill. THANK you Chips…job well done! ——Kathleen
Kathleen, Thank you so much for your review. Hopefully it will encourage other "newbie"s to take the class as well. Enjoy the ride and stay safe out there. Thanks.
Fantastic experience: I came in with zero riding experience other than riding as passenger. I did NOT know how to drive a motorcycle by myself but I know, without a single doubt, how to now. Chips was funny, good conversation, honest, and knew how to instruct from start to finish. We started with 8 and ended up with 7 and I couldn’t have taken it with any better group of people. We all followed instructions, arrived way before start time and paid attention. I will recommend this class over any other class and I will return yearly to get more advanced. Thanks Chips. You are the best.
Great! Love to hear from students that start out with 0 experience. Not only can you be successful and have fun doing it, often the students with no experience actually do better, because they just listen and try to learn instead of bringing some good (and bad) habits into class with them. Thank you for the positive feed back! Looking forward to seeing you back for an experienced class.
Fantastic experience: This place was awesome and the instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful with someone who had already been riding for over forty years. Thanks to Mr Brandi Fuller for sharing his knowledge and advice with us.
Kenneth, thank you for taking the time to post a review. I'm you found our class valuable. Stay safe and have fun out there!
Fantastic experience: It was a blessing to learn from chips. I am so glad he was my instructor. Can’t recommend enough to have anyone take his class with him. Absolutely amazing experience
Thank you Ronny.
Fantastic experience: Very knowledgeable instructor and you can learn a-lot but it’s gonna require you to show up on time and follow instructions.
Yes it is. We can do our part to teach you and provide you with time and tools to practice but it is, always, up to do your part and do the actual learning. Thanks Cody
Fantastic experience: I took the basic rider course from Chips and learned so much! I was starting from the absolute beginning, having only been a passenger before the class. I was nervous at first but was able to keep up with the instructions and managed to pass with a high score. Chips means business and doesn’t hesitate to correct you when you need it, but it’s only in your best interest and for your ultimate safety. We all felt so empowered by the end of the course! I have recommended this course to many friends and will continue to do so. Chips is the best!
Rhonda, it sounds like you understand that riding a motorcycle is fun but it is also serious and can have consequences. We like for our students to have fun, but our first priority is your safety. Some time students can take it the wrong way when the coach is just being serious about coaching you, like, right now, if yours doing something that could get yourself or other hurt. That's really what you are paying for and we would rather have to "coach firmly" then have to fill out and accident report or possibly worse after the class, out on the road. As you rightly said, its in your best interest and now you feel more empowered! I hope you continue to grow as a safe motorcyclist and have fun along the way. Thank you for your review.
Fantastic experience: Chips, Thank you Sir, for the class!! I was immediately humbled, the moment you broke down the proper mechanics behind motorcycle operation. I'm thankful, to have been instructed by someone of your caliber. Your dedication to safety and proper knowledge is definitely unparalleled. Was a pleasure earning my coin, i wont forget it. Thanks again - DOG
Thank you Zak!
Fantastic experience: For anyone who wants a better understanding and increase control of their motorcycle, this is the place to go. Motorcycle Training Center does offer many locations to choose from within the state of Texas, and without a doubt, there can not be any better instructors than Brandy "CHiPs" Fuller. A man dedicated to getting other people on a motorcycle SAFELY.
Thank you Sebastian.
Positive experience: I learned some things but did not have fun at all. The instructor was very intimidating.
James, I'm sorry that was your experience. We want everyone to have fun, but, learning to ride can be intimating or even scary at times. I know you said it was the instructor. Our goals in order are 1) your safety, 2) learning to ride a motorcycle, 3) having fun. We try to hit them all but if we must sacrifice a little of #3 to insure #1 & #2 that is what we will do. We will continue to work harder to try to make sure we hit all three as often as possible.
Fantastic experience: The BRC at MTC Magnolia was fantastic. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was a great time. I definitely learned a lot and am looking forward to the next level class. Two thumbs up!!
Fantastic experience: We had a very knowledgeable and experienced instructor named Brandy (aka Chips) and he was so good at explaining everything. He helped us improve immensely. The course is very well structured and executed. Very highly recommended.
Annalise, thank you for your review. Stay safe and enjoy the ride.
Positive experience: MTC in Magnolia is great, the bikes are a little beat up but the teacher has a ton of experience. Learned a lot even when I had already taken the course in another state.
Fantastic experience: Learned quite a bit that I thought I already knew. Mike is an excellent instructor and would highly recommend him. He has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable. When we first arrived we were scowled at by Chip. He should not be teaching as he is very rude and rudely informed me and my son we should have printed the confirmation email for our class which it is NOT required. He also was doing Stop- Ees on this little Grom during a braking demonstration. Thought it was a safety class not a class clown class. Back to Mike. Highly.....highly recommend him.
Fantastic experience: Taking the class was really exciting, I recommend it for most people. Mike is an awesome teacher
Fantastic experience: I love how detailed Chip was with any questions and concerns that we had.
Fantastic experience: Hands down the motorcycle training course I’m Texas. Highly recommend new rider to take officer Chips course, he has over 44 years no experience riding, and very knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: Just graduated today! Awesome instructor, The man is going to teach you the right things and in the right way. You may think your pretty skilled but this man will show you how much more you need to improve and how to do so. Highly recommended!!
Fantastic experience: I was trained by the man, the myth, the legend CHIPS! What an amazing instructor. The class exceeded my expectations and I would recommend it to everyone. The motorcycles are in excellent condition, the training is very straight forward, the instructions are clear as well as the rules "Be on time", keep you gear on at all times while in the range, listen carefully, drink water and you will be ok. sign up for the class, you will not regret it.
Negative experience: Rude. Read the reviews and make the right decision. Go to Harley D in The Woodlands
Fantastic experience: I cannot begin to describe how life changing this course is. I went into this course with what I assumed was “experience”. I was humbled quickly. This course is called basic, but it is so much more. You get there on the first day and Chips is standing there with a big smile on his face welcoming you and putting you at ease. In the matter of one day you go home feeling accomplished. Guys who couldn’t get their feet on the pegs at first, were doing the figure 8 and quick stops and the fear of the bike was gone. Chips runs a tight ship, but not one of a drill Sargent, but more like a strict Dad. You find yourself not wanting to disappoint him. He cares about each student and amazingly gives each one the attention and coaching needed. Amazing because there is so much going on. The pace is fast but I believe that is by design to keep you out of your head. When he tells you to sing to yourself, DO IT!! It works! I am the quiet guy, but somehow he got me to interact with my classmates and participate in discussions. His personality is not one of judgement, but one of leading you to the right frame of mind. He brings a bunch of nervous strangers together and after 2 days you leave with a camaraderie you would have never imagined possible. If you want to learn how to ride, make the trip to Montgomery because Chips is one of a kind.
Fantastic experience: The Instructor “Chips” Brandt Fuller is one of the best I have seen. He takes his time and explains the process. I have ridden for years and I learned allot from Chips! I recommend this class to anyone from a beginner to experienced. I will be coming back soon for some advanced training. Call them today. Don’t procrastinate!
Fantastic experience: Was really interested in getting a bike and have never road one before, magnolia was the only place with immediate classes so I decided to go with them, and I'm so glad I did not only was it way more informative then I thought, there was way more hands on training I figured maybe 3-4 hrs a day and then classroom time the rest but nope they make sure you fully have a comfortable grasp on a bike before sending you off into the world, and let's not forget probably the best motorcycle or driving type instructor I have ever had before, with CHIPz not only did he give us all the class room information he also has tons of person riding experience that can help you or excite you. Cannot go wrong with choosing this location at all!
Fantastic experience: Brandy Fuller was an excellent teacher. I had not ridden in 4 years. I was scared at first but he made me feel very comfortable. My husband was in a bad motorcycle accident back in July. He was hit head on in his lane in a curve. He thought about what he should do and tried to turn away from the truck, and to push the bike away. He said he owed his life to what Chips had taught him.
Fantastic experience: Easily one of the best place to learn the riding basics whether you’re fresh on two wheels or riding for years. Chips is one of the best instructors for the course! I’m glad I took this class with him as the instructor and will refer everyone I know to him :D
Fantastic experience: Mr. Chips is an amazing instructor. Very knowledgeable and professional. Highly reccomended!
Thank you Jacob. Great way to start the new year!
Fantastic experience: This was a great place to learn, instructor was very knowledgeable and made instructions very clear, as well as took the time to make anyone who didn’t understand the chances after chance to ask questions. I learned a lot of stuff in this class and will use it to make me a better driver. As well as I will recommend this class and instructor to everyone I know needs the course.
We always say EVERYONE should take this course, not just motorcycle riders and it WILL make you a better rider and driver. Thanks!
Fantastic experience: I learned so much in the class. Chips is a 1st class instructor and I am glad I chose this training to attend.
Fantastic experience: Excellent course! Learned a lot and also had fun. worth it.
Fantastic experience: I learned enough in this class to increase my chances of safety and getting back home to my loved ones.
That's a big part of why we do what we do. Thank you Odis!
Fantastic experience: I had so much fun learning more than I ever expected!!! Our instructor and coach was just wonderful!! I’d recommend this class to anyone who has the want to ride no matter the experience level!!!
Fantastic experience: I enjoyed every detail in the course !! Big thanks to my constructor Rick ( Doc ), he was extremely patient and made every effort possible to make sure that me and my team mates understood every detail possible, much appreciated Sir, I will definitely recommend this to my friends !!
Fantastic experience: CHIPs is an incredible instructor. I absolutely loved the class and will go back for more. Thanks for helping make my dream of riding come true.
Thank You Lacey!
Negative experience: Here is what to expect: 1. Very old motorcycles up to 30 years old. 2. They will look for ways to dismiss you from course and will ask for another $120 fee to reschedule. 3. Dealing with rude people.
Fantastic experience: The class is required for a motorcycle license, but this company is highly respected and recommended by anyone who has attended the class. It is taught by a living legend named Chips, no seriously, he is indeed legendary. I took the class in 100F weather, fortunately the classroom is well climate controlled and comfortable. Invest in a pleasant 2 Day experience, this is the place you will be thankful you chose!
Fantastic experience: The class was awesome. CHiPs was a great instructor. We had about 10 hours of ride time in the two days of classes. Every task given was a designed to prepare you for the next task. Before you know it, you are not only riding, but pulling off the very dreaded U-turn.
Troy, glad you liked the class, the building block process, and Chips. Thank you for the positive review. Have fun and stay safe out there!
Fantastic experience: This training course WAS INSANE. It way exceeded my expectations A LOT. The way the instructor works with you to make sure you understand what you need to do so you do it right, correctly, and safely. And the demonstration he does so u can see what he is talking about was incredibly helpful for me. If you are trying to get a motorcycle license you need to take this MYC Training course. I went to the location in magnolia Texas off 1488.
Fantastic experience: Took this class in early July 2022 as a prerequisite for getting the class M endorsement. Chips was my instructor and this man knows his stuff. He is very punctual, friendly, articulate, patient and has many years of motorcycle experience that he kindly shares with his students. He certainly exceeded my expectations. If you're prone to heat exhaustion, recommend signing up for a class when it is cooler outside.
Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this class. I had only spent a few hours on a motorcycle/dirt bike before this class. Walked away with more knowledge and skills then I thought I would. Class size was small and made one on one interaction/coaching perfect.
Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing experience. CHiPs was an all around great guy. Cracked jokes at appropriate times, and remained serious during the important lessons. Not to mention he has plenty of life experiences to back up everything he says. I had absolutely 0 experience before this class. I was so nervous beforehand, trying to look stuff up and read reviews before the class to prepare myself. However none of it worked, I was still nervous. CHiPs gave the instructions so well that not only was I able to start riding confidently, I also passed my riding exam with a 99. If CHiPs can help me pass, he can definitely help you pass as well!
Cameron, Thank you for your review. There are a lot of people in your situation that have no experience with a motorcycles and are nervous about the class. I think people will appreciate your review. Not everyone is successful on the first try. Everyone learns at a different pace. About 96% of the people who take the class pass on the first try and many of them come to us with 0 experience. Thanks!
Fantastic experience: Chip is tough so don’t go thinking it’s easy. He made it fun and enjoyable and never gives up on you. He captured my attention with his knowledge and I followed his directions to the ‘T’. Now enjoying the open road on my HD Roadking.
Fantastic experience: I took this course with CHIPS never having ridden a motorcycle before. He is a great instructor/teacher and knows how to train good riders. His class and knowledge has saved me more than once. I probably wouldn't be here without him. Highly recommended!!
Fantastic experience: The instructor is very dedicated to teaching motorcycle safety, you can tell he has a passion far beyond "its just my job". The small class sizes allow for enough interaction that he was able to help a few classmates who were struggling pass the class.
Fantastic experience: I attended the Tuesday-Wednesday basic rider course with CHiPs in April 2022. He was a great instructor! Even with eight students in the class he was able to instruct each of us individually and help us figure out how to improve best. I’m definitely still a beginner, but know so much more about riding correctly/safely than I did before. I would say the greatest takeaway of this course was how CHiPs helped us to recognize what mistakes we were making on our own so we could improve on our own even after the course. I absolutely recommend!
Fantastic experience: Great class to get your endorsement, The instructor Chips is very professional, but makes the class fun too
Fantastic experience: Absolute best place to learn from. Chip really knows what he is talking about and makes sure everyone has a fun and SAFE time. I failed the first day but Chip made me feel confident and encouraged me to try it again. I retook the course a week later and here I am with my license. You 'll have a great time and won't regret it. Tip: "Keep your eyes up!"
Fantastic experience: Had an advanced training course with doc (his actual name is Rick) to get my M endorsement on my license. He made it possible, such a great coach and he has such patience I loved it. I came in 20 mins late because the gps sent me all the way up in Conroe and had to come back to magnolia, and he still forgave me about it and gave me a chance to take the course. He truly sharpened my skills even more and taught me some things I didn’t know! Will recommend it to friends. If you don’t pass you are being overconfident or you are not paying attention. He did a wonderful job explaining things.
Fantastic experience: Chips was very informative and experienced in relaying the necessary information and skills needed to succeed.
Thank you David for your review. Stay safe and have fun!
Fantastic experience: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. That is what this class is, one bite at a time. You will not sit in a classroom hearing about how to do something, you will be out on a bike in the first hour and you will be there all day. Just taking one bite at a time, small bites too. You start by going over the part of the bike, how to start it, make sure its in neutral and how to use the clutch. dont worry if you dont master it in the first lesson, you will get plenty of practice. Each lesson builds on the last, usually you dont even notice it. Chips will be there to coach you every step of the way and even give ya some good recomendations for lunch. By the end of day one you will be exhausted. there is alot, and you you will feel like you needed more practice with some of the lessons, but first thing the next morning your right back at it, and now your hungry for more challenges. Before you know it its test time. Your gonna do fine. the classroom part is a few hours and is really a lot of fun, and gets you thinking about new stuff Its not traffic school so your not talking about stuff like who has right of way and what color is a yeald sign. you will not get board. The written test is the last challange, guess what, you’ll do fine with that too. Chips is a great instructor, he is friendly with a great sence of humor, and you can see that he trully cares about teaching students the right way and helping then be successful. The classroom its self is awesome and has a old time garage feel with the slight smell of oil and exhaust in the air. So Hell yeah I recomend this class. It was a great way to spend the weekend. Oh and if it rains, you still ride, and its awesome.
Richard, thank you for taking the time to write such a great review and helping to let others know about the building block learning process we use. Glad you enjoyed your experience. This is what we strive for every class.
Fantastic experience: This is an EXCELLENT course. Received as a Christmas gift from friends, it has been quite some time since I have ridden a motorcycle, not by choice, but due to a TBI a few years ago. I thought I already knew the basics and would just breeze through the course. That is not what this course is about. we covered the basics; SAFETY is the number one priority. You should be willing to learn and be able to handle "strongly worded constructive criticism" without taking it personally. CHiPs, our instructor is a WEALTH of knowledge and could teach anyone how to ride, if they wanted to learn. He may seem a bit rough and gruff, but he is very personable, extremely knowledgeable and takes his job very seriously but is quick to make people laugh and can read a room to a T. There is not enough time in a year, much less two days, to explain to you why you need to do what he is telling you to do. It is his job to teach, but it is your job to learn; if you trust in him and his methods you will learn skills that will keep you safe and keep motorcycling fun. Fair warning - RAIN OR SHINE - HOT OR COLD - you WILL ride. It was about 85 on Saturday and the temperature crawled up to about 30 with the wind chill factor on Sunday. Dress accordingly, bring a change of layer(s) with you. Bring drinks and snacks OR bring cash, there is an honor bar sort of setup there. Have fun and keep the rubber side down!
Well put. Thank you for your review!
Negative experience: If you plan on taking the class, it’s good to have some experience riding. Since there is only two days, if you’ve never been on a motorcycle or have much experience with a manual. You will be taking in a lot at one time. There needs to be more than one instructor. So that the pace is equal across the board. Also it’s EASY to point out discrimination when it’s only one instructor. If you’re “tan”. Especially a BM. Stay within the city limits to get your training. They can’t make it obvious but you’ll catch subtle hints that you’re being judged.
Fantastic experience: Can I rate higher then 5… I guess not. MTC gets a 100 star review! I had the pleasure of being coached by “CHiPs” and he “nailed it” (take the class you’ll understand that) he is a by the book instructor however if you do not comprehend what he is telling you he will brake it down for you. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Not only is he a expert rider he did it for a living and that knowledge shows. If you read a bad review on this page, trust me when I say it was not at the fault of MTC. If you are on time, pay attention, and learn the skills you will pass every time. I came in the the class never having been on a motorcycle. I was able to walk away from MTC comfortable enough to go out on my own. I have stopped by after graduation and still ask questions. Not only are you a student of MTC for two days you are a student for life. Check them out.
Thank you for your review. Stay safe out there and have fun.
Fantastic experience: Awesome class and CHIPs makes it fun at the same time!! Don't listen to all these fools griping. All you have to do is follow the rules and have fun!!
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: Great instructor with a lot of patience. He interacted with each student to help them progress in their training. The course was set up where you could learn easily. He kept the course fun and interesting. I would recommend this class for every level of rider. Had a great time!! See you soon.
Thank you for your recommendation.
Fantastic experience: CHIPs was awesome!! He's a good teacher and makes it fun at the same time!!
Great to hear. Thank you Clay.
Positive experience: This was a great beginner class. I enjoyed the class and the Rider Coach. CHiPs was a great instructor. Very knowledgeable and patient. I highly recommend this class. Top notch
Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Love the course, great techniques and always put safety first.
Safety first!
Fantastic experience: If you see one bad review then it was personal and had nothing to do with the training school, instructors or the curriculum. I had the pleasure of being taught by "chips." I seen the couple bad reviews and was skeptical myself but all the good reviews told me take a chance. I finished my class 12-5-21, and I'm sure I had the best instructor in the state of Texas. His training is beyond impressive and his knowledge is 5 star!! He didn't yell at anyone he was extremely happy and patient if you ask me. He treated everyone exactly the same women and males and this is coming from a black male full of tattoos. He will guide you in perfecting your skills so that you hit the road ready to be safe and have fun. I have owned several bikes in the past and thought I wasn't going to learn to much but boy was I wrong. I now feel comfortable really getting out there on the road legally. He watches everyone and gives them exactly what they need to get better. The other instructor with the blue road glive harley knew his stuff too he helped out also but chip was my instructor and I am honored to have taken his class.
Thank you 3ye vibez!
Negative experience: The instructor is extremely impatient and rude. He asked me if I was autistic or had any learning disabilities. I was booted from the course at the end of day for a exercise everybody failed. Don't go here unless you want to burn a few hundred dollars for nothing.
Fantastic experience: Amazing class!!! Great instructor!
Negative experience: Chip thinks that we are a pro and he was very rude with no patience. it was completely favoritism towards some students. what a waste of time.
Fantastic experience: Terrific motorcycle training course. Really professionally run. Excellent trainer in CHiPs. The course including well maintained bikes to use. I feel a much better driver now, but still have a lot to learn. Thanks again. Would recommend to anyone looking to get a bike, or even experienced riders.
Fantastic experience: Excellent class and skilled trainers. Mr Chips especially helped us from learning basics to every aspects of a motorcycle and riders to know.
Thank you!
Fantastic experience: This may be a basic training class, but you pick up a lot of information that’s applied to even experienced riders. I would recommend this class to anyone that’s thinking about riding or even currently riding. Chips made learning enjoyable. He really sets you up for success.
I hear this all the time from experienced riders. Everyone learns (and remembers things they used to know) that make them a better, safer rider in this class. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Chips was my instructor, and was very intimidating at the beginning because he sticks to the safety rules. You soon come to realize that he isn’t being mean at all, he is trying to teach you how to ride safely so you don’t hurt yourself when he isn’t around to instruct you. He only has two short days to try to make you a better rider, so he does stick to the curriculum. I was an absolute new rider and very nervous. I left feeling much more confident and ready to ride. I will recommend this class and instructor to everyone!!!
Well Said. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Great, been riding for a while but I needed to get my license, CHIPS was a great instructor and definitely taught me a lot.
A wise man never stops learning! Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Really enjoyed the basic course I took here. Chips, the instructor, is extremely knowledgeable and knows what he’s talking about. He was a little intimidating at first but had a good sense of humor and kept things light with us when we weren’t riding. The bikes all worked fine that we rode; there were a few different brands. Parking lot we rode in was in good shape and the class was very structured and streamlined. My sister and I took the course together and both of us were new to motorcycles, and we both passed. They teach you everything you need to know! If you’re taking the course in any sort of heat, make sure you bring a cooler with drinks. They encourage you to hydrate the entire day, so do yourself a favor and bring waters and Gatorade.
Kristin, Very good review! We get the question all the time, "I've never ridden, is this class really for beginners?". You and your sister know the answer and others can now read your account. Also, as you mentioned, Its very important to bring drinks, snacks, hydrate, prepare for the heat. Most of us work in the AC and are not used to spending 2 days in the Texas summer heat. Thank you for the review.
Fantastic experience: Great class with great instructors, they have a lot of knowledge and skill. Even the most experienced rider can walk away learning something new, plus you get to have fun doing it.
Steven, Thank you for your review. I get this question all the time "I've ridden for 10, 20, 40 years. Am I really going to get anything out of this class?" I always tell them that there will be the basic that you already know but I guarantee you will learn things in this class and it will be worth your while! Thank you for the review.
Fantastic experience: Great and really fun time/experience! Highly recommend taking this if you want to get your motorcycle license! Chips is a wonderful instructor!
Thank you Cecil. MTC and Chips appreciate your feedback!
Fantastic experience: Very good environment. Staff is excellent in getting the students involved in a fun environment. Highly recommend this class if you are looking to get your M endorsement on your license
Thanks for the review William!
Fantastic experience: Great place to take you Motorcycle Safety Course!!! I drive a hour and 20 minutes for 2 days! Chips was great at what he does and will teach you all you need to know!!
Thanks James.
Fantastic experience: Chip Fuller was an excellent instructor! I pray he continues to share his wisdom an knowledge on motorcycle safety and riding. MSF has chosen a great instructor. His training and demonstrations seemed effortless and preformed at a speed anyone can pick up on. The attention to detail he points out to you was very beneficial for me.
Chips is a very experienced instructor. Its not easy to make it look effortless. Thank you for your review.
Fantastic experience: Anyone taking this course and expecting it to be boring, it's not. CHiPs was my instructor and while it was a long day, it was fun. He is patient and is incredibly knowledgeable. If you're like me, having tinnitus and hearing loss, pull the trigger on this course. You won't regret it.
Thank You.
Fantastic experience: I am very glad, not only that I took this course; but that I was lucky enough to get Doc David Jones as my instructor. I learned so much and built the confidence I needed to move forward in my motorcycle/scooter riding journey. The students were great, too. What a bonus! Thank you for offering this program! My only criticism would be, a better building wouldn’t kill you.
Thank you for your review! Yes, the building is old but its hard to find locations that have a building and parking lot available for this type of training so we make the best of what we have. Thanks.
Fantastic experience: Great class! Mr. Fuller(AKA CHiPS) is a very helpful instructor. He has tons of experience and his class is very passable. If you need a motorcycle license take this class ASAP. You won’t regret it.
Thank you.
