Fantastic experience: Mr. Sean The Instructor is very good and on the road rules and always explains you of ways to avoid errors and advises on being concentrated on the road, I his an excellent instructor if you pass your driving test on the first time I recommend Sean the Instructor of Local driving school

The most calm instructor i’ve had, he doesn’t interfere with your driving at all and it’s the comments are all constructive and helpful for your driving. He’s extremely detailed and had 3000+ students so he knows what he’s doing. He has a lot of knowledge of what to do and not to do with 40 years of experience and he definitely helped me out so i highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Had 3 driving lessons with Kirt and at first I was a little nervous on the road, but as I kept getting lessons I gained a lot of information on how to be cautious and safe on the road. We even practiced on the bridge which was a little nerve racking at first but when I got on it it wasn’t too bad. Overall I really enjoyed learning how to be safe and aware while driving!

Fantastic experience: Just finished my drivers training and I’m so glad I got a great instructor! I had Kirt for all 3 of my lessons and learned a lot. I was nervous at first to do a lot of stuff on the road but I was surprised at how comfortable I was driving with Kirt. I was really hesitant about going fast, like on streets like Richmond Parkway, but he calmly gave me instruction and we got through very well. Ever since the first lesson safety was his priority, he taught me some good defensive driving techniques and how to be safe. I’m very satisfied with what I learned with Kirt and I feel ready to take my test!

Fantastic experience: Very great learning experience(I had Kirt Erwing)! I sharpened my skills very efficiently and learned a lot of new things within three days! Throughout the learning experience I have gotten strongly comfortable and confident with my driving skills. Most notable skills I learned through the process; SMOG technique, reversing, three point turns, efficient blind intersections, full awareness, entering/exiting highways and freeways.

Fantastic experience: I had Kirt as my driving instructor before and after getting my license (for freeway practice). I must say that he is a phenomenal instructor who places a high priority on safe, yet practical driving. He has also assisted in developing my scanning, awareness, and adjusting abilities, which is crucial driving in the Bay Area. His calm, encouraging, and open demeanor really helps a new driver stay controlled and manage new situations. I definitely recommend having Kirt as your driving instructor if you want to learn effective and efficient driving. I also want to mention that he really helped with my freeway driving (often covering over 40 miles of road). Thank you Kirt, you have really been a tremendous help to me!

Negative experience: Paid $700 - gone down the drain. They will drive you around 3 times for a couple of hrs each and then be done. No ownership, no responsibility if person passes at dmv or not. The package included one and a half hour of prep before the driving exam at dmv. Trusted this school and it's people and sent my teenage for the test. They did not do the promised one and a half hour- they did not do even half an hour. That's unethical and they took advantage of a child who did not speak up. Find a better more trustworthy and Professional school who have instructors who will take responsibility and pain to ensure the learner passes the driving test or at least provide what's promised as per package and paid for with hard earned money.

Fantastic experience: First lesson with Kirt he really helped me with scanning the road, and making sure I check my mirrors intuitively to be alert, taught me how to parallel park, and helped me drive on the free way. First driving test I did fail with only 3 errors and one major mistake, the center turn lane, Kirt has great communication and a good attitude towards his teaching. I do highly recommend Kirt to anyone in need of a good driving instructor.

It’s been 4 days I am trying to solve an issue and waiting for calls from them, the last time I call one of them picked the call and laughed sorry I forgot to call you, I was waiting for their call from 9 am to 4:30 pm that day. Fantastic experience: Kirt is your go to coach for sure! At first I don’t know which one to choose but I am lucky that I got trained by him for my third class. He is extremely experienced, detail oriented and responsible for his student. I truly feel my confidence and techniques improved a lot after 2 classes with him. Very efficient approach of teaching and most importantly practical. My fourth class- which is my last, we were able to do a mock test, and cover all the techniques and skills required for the test. Which made me feel more than ready for my test next week. Highly recommend Kirt! He can definitely get you across the passing line and you can also learn the real skills for your future driving safety. This is the photo during our last class when we stopped to add gas. I had Dan for my very first lesson and he was very patient with me and took the time to go into detail about everything I needed to know, which was reassuring for someone like me who was kind of nervous driving on the road. Mani was very helpful too; not as detailed, but very straightforward about what you needed to know. I also had Kirt for most of my lessons, and was very kind and patient with me as well, carefully pointing out my mistakes and giving me tips on how to confidently pass my test-- and sure enough I passed on my first try! Definitely would recommend this school!

Fantastic experience: I have finished a 5-lesson program with Local Driving School at Berkeley CA. I love my experience with Local Driving School! I started with zero experience of driving, and just after 5 lessons I'm now comfortably driving in local neighborhoods, with confidence and good techniques for safe driving. Berkeley/El Cerrito/Kensington have very complicated road situations with hills, winding roads, all types of intersections and stop signs, etc. I can confidently handle all these situations. I also learned diagonal parking and parallel parking. I had one lesson with Matt, two lessons with Dan, and two lessons with Kirt. They were all very professional, friendly, patient, and good at teaching. Matt successfully gave me great confidence in the first behind-wheel lesson and talked me through varied situations and how to handle them. With his help, I got rid of fear, and was able to focus on learning driving per se. Dan helped me with lane changing, pulling over and reversing, and emphasized a lot on scanning wisely. I particularly enjoyed his humorous conversations. Kirt explained road situations very carefully, and helped me sharpened on how to handle different type of stop signs, how to predict behaviors of other cars and pedestrians, how to make smooth turns, etc. They managed to provide me a good spectrum of road knowledge, techniques, and experience, just in 5 lessons. I would definitely recommend Local Driving School Berkeley to my friends. Thanks guys for getting me started to enjoy driving. I'll try my best to be a good driver.

My wife, who is an adult (over 40), first-time driver, from another country, had never been behind the wheel of a car in her entire life. She was very nervous about learning. Her first instructor, Dan, put her at ease, showed her some basics and helped her get more excited to keep progressing. Next, we found out her main instructor would become Kirt Ewing, who turned out to be the perfect guide for the bulk of my wife's lessons. He showed great patience, knowledge, courtesy and professionalism throughout the remainder of the lessons we purchased. His vehicle was always clean and freshly ready for each session. My wife made noteworthy progress and felt very comfortable with Kirt's personality and approach. Let me also give heartfelt thanks and credit to Mani, the owner of the company, who was always personable and attentive on the phone. He was extremely flexible in tailoring a customized schedule of lessons, leading up to my wife's DMV exam. Also, he personally drove down to the Pinole office, all the way from Sacramento, in order to give one very important lesson himself, addressing a specific challenge my wife was experiencing. The combination of everyone's input obviously made a substantial impact, as my wife was able to pass her DMV exam on her very first attempt - with a better than average score, I might add! Throughout the entire process, we felt Local Driving School truly had our best interests in mind. I felt they really wanted my wife to learn good skills which will carry over into her ongoing years as a driver in this country - not simply to pass the exam and get a license, alone. We had tried one other company, previous to landing with Local Driving School. However, it was obvious this competitor was unorganized, less professional and did not make my wife feel comfortable. We highly endorse Local Driving School and urge anyone to contact them regarding lessons to learn safe, skilled driving.

Fantastic experience: I just finished my lesson with Kirt it was really nice on talking and showing me the basics and he let me try the freeway and parking and reversing and now I feel more confident backing up, he also taught me checking both ways on the intersection and turns. 20190621_101841.jpg
