Fantastic experience: We had a great experience with 1ACT. Our daughter’s instructor Mr. David was patient and communicated her progress with each lesson. He greeted us (parents) at every pick up and drop off with the plan for each lesson and followed up with her progress. Our daughter was well prepared for the road test and has become more confident behind the wheel. On her road test day, Mr. Ed her examiner went over the rules thoroughly and encouraged us to ask questions if we had any. He was complementary of her performance and readiness for the road which she passed. We felt comfortable throughout the process allowing Mr. David to work helping our daughter prepare for this next chapter. She is very shy and his understanding and patience is greatly appreciated. Negative experience: Terrible Experience with 1 ACT Driving Schools I deeply regret choosing 1 ACT Driving Schools for my brother's driving lessons. From start to finish, this has been an exhausting and unprofessional ordeal that has not only wasted my time and money but also jeopardized my brother's safety. I initially paid $290 for four hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, trusting that the advertised curriculum—parking, parallel parking, backing up, controlled turns, major intersection crossings, lane changes, traffic merging, and freeway techniques—would be delivered as promised. However, my brother’s lessons were far from adequate. Despite having no prior driving experience, the instructor put him on the road and even on the freeway without first teaching him essential skills like proper braking, parking, or basic vehicle knowledge. This lack of preparation endangered my brother and other drivers, leaving me to question the school's commitment to safety. When I first contacted the school to address my concerns, I spoke with a representative named Hannah, who confirmed that the tasks listed on their website were supposed to be taught. However, this was not the case for my brother. Additionally, the instructor’s name on the paperwork did not match the name later provided by the school, raising questions about their recordkeeping and accountability. After filing a dispute with my bank in September, I reached out to 1 ACT Driving Schools multiple times. Their responses were delayed and dismissive, and their refund policy was repeatedly cited to deny my claim—despite their clear failure to deliver the promised services. I finally received a response from Lauren Proctor, the manager, after weeks of follow-ups. She acknowledged that the curriculum was not fully covered and invited me to meet in person. I rearranged my schedule to meet her on November 18, as she assured me she would be in the office from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. I arrived at 11:00 a.m., only to find the building closed. After waiting for several minutes, I left, and Lauren called me 30 minutes later to say she was still 30 minutes away. This lack of respect for my time was frustrating and unprofessional. When Lauren finally called, she admitted that the instructor had not performed the tasks listed on the curriculum and report card. Despite this admission of failure, she and the owner refused to issue a refund. Throughout the phone conversation, both Lauren and the owner repeatedly interrupted and cut me off, preventing me from fully explaining my concerns. Their dismissive tone and unwillingness to take accountability were appalling. This entire experience has been a nightmare. I am now left teaching my brother myself because the lessons he received were inadequate and incomplete. While they claim that progress depends on each student’s pace, the instructor’s decision to skip fundamental skills like parking and braking and immediately put my inexperienced brother on the freeway was not only negligent but dangerous. If you are considering 1 ACT Driving Schools, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. They failed to deliver on their promises, provided poor instruction, and showed no accountability for their shortcomings. They wasted my money, time, and energy, and I wouldn’t trust them to teach anyone how to drive. Update: After posting my original review, I received a text from the owner, which I attached below. It further highlights the lack of accountability and professionalism I experienced throughout this process. If a business fails to deliver the services they promise, customers have every right to leave honest feedback. This review reflects my experience and the school’s failure to ensure my brother received safe, adequate, and comprehensive instruction.
Hello Ms. Fowlkes, Many parts of your statement are not clearly explained and are unfair to our Instructor and staff. I did text you the screenshot and I'm glad you are showing it as part of your review. I tried helping your family during my conversation with you and your boyfriend. I'm still asking you to allow us to train Robert all the way with purchasing few more driving sessions and I will give Robert the on-site Road testing at our Lawrenceville location at no charge to show you our good will. Working together, we can make this happen. You were not in the car and in my opinion unfair to pass such strong judgment and ask for full refund after instructor David's professional and hard work. By the way I have spoken with David in detail regarding these two sessions and he told me that he never took your brother Robert on interstates I thought we had a really good conversation on the phone and short time later we receive your review. Lauren and I both apologize several times for her running late, and you started shouting at her and using F words which then she had to hang up the phone on you because no one should be subjected to verbal abuse. Instructor David is one of our most kind and seasoned instructors and quite often getting amazing reviews from clients. You were not present in the car or any part of the two sessions to see David's training with your brother Robert and asking for full refund is unreasonable and unfair solely based on your assessment of Robert after only two sessions. We have been communicating with you for over 2 weeks. David covered so many items but it is unreasonable to expect teaching so many things to a new student within 4 hours. Also I was not cutting you off during our conversation and I tried to explain all of these points to you and then your boyfriend, because I'm also an instructor and we understand how important our jobs are, teaching possibly the most important life skill ever to our clients. It's vital for us to teach each student within their comfort zone so they feel confident and not scared. It's important for us to elevate our students based on their capabilities and not push them unreasonably. Our goal is to build a strong foundation for our students, where they feel confident with understanding right of ways on any type of roads, minimizing second guessing while driving and covering multiple points such as intersections, emphasizing on left turns, understanding yields, blind spots, merging and so on. It takes a long time for a new student to build confidence and required foundation with our help so you and other family members can build on it but giving us only 4 hours and asking for so much to be done is unfair and impossible. In a gesture of goodwill, I offered a discount, including a significant reduction on our own DDS certified road testing service and a commitment to personally oversee Robert’s progress. I hope you’ll consider this offer and allow us to support Robert in becoming a confident, capable driver. Positive experience: Very good customer service and instructors. Bit of a trouble with scheduling and organization in regards to some last minute cancellations. I had two instructors, David and Rasheed. Both were amazing and very clear/concise in their explanations. They are patient and ensure that the student is not only adequately educated but also enjoys the lesson.

Fantastic experience: My overall experience with this school was 10/10 I did my lessons with David, and I have to say he is the best. You will find no better teacher than him. He helped built my confidence behind the wheel, and was patient while doing so. I now feel extremely confident while driving. I did my road test with Ed and he is just amazing. I was nervous at first and he definitely made me feel comfortable which really helped me to relax and master my road test with all the driving skills that David taught me. I passed my road test on first try :)

Fantastic experience: I took two hours of practice and my onsite road test with 1ACT, and had a good experience. For reference, I already had an international license and was looking to gain experience with the road system here. I spent a fair amount of time with Pouyan practicing parking which was particularly useful. Ed was my instructor for the road test — he did a great job of explaining the rules and expectations, as well as providing feedback on general driving etiquette after I passed my test. I would recommend 1ACT overall. P.S: It helped that the make/model of the car was the same in the lessons and the test. Though there was a little difference in the responsiveness of the controls, having the general familiarity was good.

Fantastic experience: My experience with Act 1 Driving is one that will remain with me forever. I am grateful for the patience and expertise that all the instructors gave me. David for one allowed me to be comfortable and confident but allowed me use the skills he saw in me even though we only had a short time. Fantastic experience: Estoy realmente feliz de haber conocido esta escuela de conducción. La instructora Andrea es muy profesional. Tiene esa tranquilidad que le transmite a uno seguridad. Recibí 2 clases de 2 horas y aprendí lo que hasta el momento se me había hecho tan dificil; como parquear en reversa y el paralelo.parking. Así que me sentí preparada para realizar la prueba práctica con la misma autoescuela y el elevaluador fué tan amable y paciente conmigo ya que mi inglés es muy básico. Vencí el miedo y aprobé el exámen. Vale la pena invertir acá si quieres aprender a conducir y aprobar la prueba práctica.

This school was way better, my instructor, Andrea, was the same instructor each time, she was very sweet and understanding, no yelling, very calm, she made really good conversations with me as we drove and I couldn’t have found a better place. Positive experience: It is a shame how our experience doesn't match all the other "great" reviews. We booked an IN PERSON class for the Lawrenceville location only to be closed come the day/time of the scheduled appointment. We had to rush and log into what we later found was a ZOOM link for a virtual class which is NOT what we wanted. Overall the instructor did his job as he him self implied.

Fantastic experience: I purchased the 20 hours of behind the wheel which was a lot but it made me a great driver and allowed me to be confident and have a strong understand or the road and it’s roles. the process is super painless and super simple. I had 4 different instructiors and all of them were exceptional! If you have a good idea of the road then you can always do less hours most people do 6 hours but I suggest talking to the instructor after to see if you would be if it from extra hours which can be purchased at any time. After my 20 hours I took the road test and passed and I am very pleased with my knowledge and skill levels.

Fantastic experience: I completed 15 sessions at 1 ACT and passed the road test with a score of 100 this morning! I feel so lucky to have Christopher, Benny, and Romario as my instructors because they were professional and patient! Even though I didn’t speak English well, they explained everything clearly and taught me to drive safely. For me, they also are excellent English teachers and friends as well. I would give them 10 stars rather than 5! I also highly recommend the 1 ACT on-site test to anyone who wants to pass the test without pressure. The examiner Edmond was friendly, and I finished the test within 20 minutes! I just want to say thank you again!

My instructors were both Letitia and Indira. Letitia was very funny and easygoing, which eased my nervousness while driving. Both instructors were very helpful with the advice they gave me. I want to thank Indira very much! I scheduled my last session with her the day before my road test to help proctor a mock exam for parking and give me last minute advice. She made parking easier as she taught me good techniques and motivated me to try my best. The next day, I passed my road test! I would definitely recommend getting a lesson here since the instructors are very caring and push you to your best!
Fantastic experience: Don't get a ticket for speeding but if you do , these people will certainly get you on the right track. Professional ,friendly, Informative. The class is great and everyone needs a refresher class now and then anyway so so don't see it as a bad thing . They get you on the right track, and they certainly don't make you feel Like a bad person for needing toTake the class for court or a ticket. We are all human. Fantastic experience: I could go on and on about how amazing Instructor Indira is. I took 10 hours total and went from 0 experience to a 90 on my drivers test. She gave me the confidence to drive that will last a lifetime. Huge thanks for helping me pass this milestone. Fantastic experience: Completed 6hrs of lesson, defensive driving lesson + PASSED road test within 1.5 wks of getting learner’s permit / first call with 1 ACT. Relocated from overseas with former driving experience and worked with 1 ACT to obtain US license with both driving hours & virtual defensive driving lessons. Service & responsiveness across both Sandy Springs & Lawrenceville locations has been fantastic, with clear guidance & helpful instructions. Thank you Ash, Leslie & Denise! Negative experience: My experience with act driving school was a complete waste of time. The trainer drives for you in the passenger seat and the other trainer was screaming in my face because for not turning correctly. He told me that driving school shouldn’t exist and he was angry that people who are beginners in driving should know how to drive. When I notified The manager he didn’t sound reasonable at all . And most of the workers seem to not care at all. They lack problem solving . The trainers are impatient and the manager should be more concerned on who they hire.
Hello Dalesha, I am sincerely sorry for your experience. I could not begin to tell you how important I take these matters. For past few days I have been spending tremendous amount of time investigating, talking to my office staff and instructors . As you know I tried very hard to contact you. I even tried to contact you when you were taking your lessons back in October of last year. One of the issues was that we had two different mobile numbers for you and it resulted in my confusion and that's the honest truth. Since I was unable to I have a few minutes of your time, I will however answer your complaint here: We absolutely do not drive for you (we only help with steering and that is expected) and scream in your face as you have stated. Driving is one of the most serious life skills that we can teach . Every year over 39,000 Americans lose their lives in vehicles. Speeding, distractions, drugs and alcohol. I'm one of the instructors and I know, it is necessary and required to assist students with steering. It is part of the process of learning how to drive. Staying centered is always a challenge for new students. Most students do have the tendency to drive too close to the curb. We have to get you on the main roads to give you the real experience. Parking lots are a good start but main learning and driving happens when we are moving on the road with other vehicles. We have to help you with steering to not only teach you but also to keep you and everyone else safe. On the 2nd points you have mentioned that my instructor said last year in October ".... driving schools should not exist and he was angry that people who are beginners in driving should know how to drive". You have to forgive me but my instructor did not say anything close to your comment. No one would ever say that driving school should not exist and beginners should know how to drive. There is never any kind of disrespect or Screaming. We do call out certain commands with a friendly but firm tone of voice. That is not screaming in your face. All of our instructors understand that new students will be nervous often turns or other steps must be repeated in order for new students to comfortably understand what is ahead of them while driving. We have been working so hard specially during pandemic to keep our clients safe, and teach them one of life's most important skills. We are grateful to have a job like this and I will be more grateful if you give me the opportunity to talk to you. Fantastic experience: I just started the class, but overall these first four hors with Eric/k we're great. He is a very intelligent and knowledgeable man. Fantastic experience: Excellent school and highly applicable course material. My instructor, Erik King, was on point and related the course material in a very real world fashion. If you’re required to take a Risk Reduction class, this is the place!! Erik made the class really enjoyable. Really down to earth instructor, and materials covered are applicable in the real world, immediately. No one wants to have to take this class, but if it’s required - get the most out of it & enjoy yourself while there. Think of this more as life coaching, because it’s closer to the truth! Fantastic experience: Great driving school! I would recommend you getting Mr. Ed Floyd as your instructor because he instructs very well. He is patient and is overall a vey friendly and nice person. Me and my sister passed our test with his help. Definitely worth the money and time!!

Fantastic experience: I had my driving hours and test done with this school. All involved in helping me to be successful in passing were great. The owner Mr. Ash, the office staff, the examiner was so kind and patient, the defensive driving teacher, he was so funny and he made the class enjoyable, most of all my driving Instructor Mr. Rasheed Khan, he has taught me the driving skills I needed to become safe and a defensive driver on the road. My instructor helped me to remain calm while I was learning to drive, he built up my self confidence at times when I became frustrated and he reminded me the reason why I was working to get my license. It has now been 4 weeks, since passing my test and attaining my license. I am now driving with so much confidence on the road and I have been having to out into practice a lot of defensive driving skills, if Mr Khan could see me he would be so proud. Thanks to this awesome team at 1 Act Driving School. I highly, highly recommend this school for your driving and defensive driving needs. Fantastic experience: AMAZING!! This is best driving school out there! As a new driver who went from never being on the road to feeling totally comfortable on the road and passing my driving test with just 12 hours with them. I would recommend to anyone and everyone. If your looking for a specific instructor I recommend Indira and Edmund, amazing teachers! If you like a more structured learning environment, Indira is the person for you. If you like a more tranquil learning environment, Edmund is the person for you. Last piece of advice, stick to one instructor if you can, it’s easier to get a feel for the person and you become more comfortable with them. All and All this the best driving school out there.

Fantastic experience: This company is VERY professional and respectful when it comes to driving lessons. I initially purchased 6 hours of behind the wheel driving and the school handled the scheduling and driving vet professionally. My first session I was with Rasheed. He did a great job of helping me build on the road confidence and was a great instructor overall. He watched me drive and gave be very beneficial feedback which allowed me to become a much better driver! On the road, Rasheed really helped me build confidence! For the final two sessions, I drove with Indira. She did a great job of helping me correct my mistakes on the road which really helped me a lot. Now when I drive, I remember what Indira showed me to do differently and it has been working perfectly for me! She also taught me how to reverse and parallel park very well in a timely manner. In three simple steps, I was able to master my reverse/parallel parking end eventually passed my drivers exam! I heavily recommend this company and Rasheed/Indira especially!

Fantastic experience: After only spending 10 hours behind the wheel, I have never felt so comfortable driving on the road now. Indira did an amazing job as an instructor to constantly make me feel reassured and at ease during my whole experience. She strategically knew what and how to introduce the key aspects of driving and parking which definitely made me feel like I got my money's worth. Fantastic experience: I had idra as my teacher and she was amazing I recommend her to any and everyone who is looking for guidance. Definitely a calm and patient teacher who breaks things down nice and easy for you. Parallel parking was my weakness but she definitely converted that to my strong suite.

Fantastic experience: I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to take driver's ed. My driver's ed teacher was Michael Chu and my driving instructor was Indira. Both of them were really easy and fun to learn from and I am thankful they were my teachers. I have not had a bad experience. Definitely a 5 star.
