Fantastic experience: During my experience at Four Lakes I have seen vast improvement in my skills and confidence while driving. Through help from the wonderful instructors (especially JP) I have grown my driving to be at a point where I feel ready to be on my own!

Fantastic experience: My daughter learned so much from JP at the west side location. He was an amazing instructor and I cannot recommend him highly enough! He took the time to chat with us as parents after each of her lessons to let us know if there were things to work on, and kept everything positive and encouraging.

Fantastic experience: Christian Ayala is the guy you want as your instructor. He is very helpful and makes the lessons feel like actual learning experiences rather than sitting in a car trying not to make a mistake for an hour.

Fantastic experience: Our son's experience started off a little shaky due to a glitch in the online program but 4 Lakes recognized the problem and were quick to find a solution. All of the instructors were great but Justin was a favorite! He was calm, gave great feedback and was an overall excellence instructor! Thanks for an amazing experience!!

Fantastic experience: Overall 4Lakes gets 5 stars but for very specific reasons. First of all I did the online course and it was nothing less than a pain but the customer service I received was always very nice and speedy. Secondly when I got my permit signing up for lessons was easy and quick. Third of all I felt prepared and calm when I got my license- I owe this ALL to JP (aka the best driving instructor on earth) he told me many tips and tricks for the DMV I stayed “cool as a cucumber” just as he told me. JP is the reason why I got my license because he not only reassured me that I was infact a good driver and I could do it easy peasy but that I need to be myself to get it, I couldn’t go in there scared and shy I needed to be myself and that’s what got me through. My only set back with 4Lakes was the issue of rescheduling lessons on their side last minute and needing to be very flexible.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience of taking my driving lessons from 4 lakes. I got two instructors, Crystal and Justin, and both prepared me very well to pass my Road test. Crystal is a fabulous instructor and she provides valuable instructions to boost the confidence on the road while driving. Signing up with 4 Lakes for appearing in Road Test proved very useful because it helped me to go through a mock test with Justin and I passed the test. Admin of 4 Lakes is also very helpful and I would highly recommend joining this Driving School if someone wants to get ready and pass their road test. Positive experience: I liked driving with 4 Lakes! I drove on the west and east side with JP Hash, Jane L, Robert O, and a few other instructors. I feel like coming into driving I didn't know that much and coming out of driving with 4 Lakes I think that I know way more than I did when I first started! I am glad that I did my driving with 4 Lakes!

Fantastic experience: I passed my exam last month on my second try, and I credit my confidence and success to 4 Lakes. Over the course of nine lessons, I had Crystal, Cristian, and Chris, who were absolutely fantastic and supportive instructors. In the first several lessons, I had Crystal, who helped push me to levels I initially shied away from and helped me realize how achievable they were once I just "did it." I truly felt, "My goodness, this isn't as hard as I thought," once we went through it. For example, I thought going on the highway would take me months when, in fact, it just took me a couple days under her guidance to feel 90% with it. The remaining 10% was a manageable chunk I knew I would gain from the added confidence that comes simply by practicing it more in future lessons/at home. She also gave lots of practicable safety tips and reminders in my early learning, and we took it one by one. It was neither rushed nor too slow; she knew, based on observing my readiness, when it was the right time to push me to the next level with new skills and maneuvers. My skills were further honed with additional practice with Cristian and Chris. Cristian gave lots of detailed feedback and answered many of my situation-specific/scenario-based questions, which went the extra mile for me. He also helped analyze my first driving exam attempt, which was my only fail (I made a slight mistake as the DMV recently moved and the roads were somewhat unfamiliar to me, catching me off-guard on one aspect; otherwise, I was going to pass, which I indeed did on the second attempt). Chris, on the other hand, absolutely loves to have a conversation, and he engaged me in nice talks relevant to driving/life while preparing me for the exam through a whole mock test (just like Cristian), which completed the whole driving experience for me. I thought this deserved a detailed review as all three of their perspectives were equally crucial to helping me pass and gain confidence as a young driver. Thank you!!!

Fantastic experience: It’s really easy to sign up for class and driving appointments online with a lot of options across the area. Our personal favorite instructor was JP Hash on the West side!

Positive experience: My instructor-Christian, was awesome. I had one individual lesson with him and then a road test package during which we drove for an hour right before the actual test and then went to dmv. His instructions were precise and reasonable. After practicing with him, passing the test was practically nothing. However, the communication with the driving school was not as smooth. Reaching out to schedule something was a pain as I had to call and text them multiple times before somebody would finally respond. Additionally, scheduling was done poorly from their side. After multiple attempts to reach out, I finally talked with somebody over text to schedule my road test appointment and it sounded like they have the availability on the desired date and time and that we confirmed the appointment. However, for the sake of being on the safer side, a week or so before the road test, I reached out again to confirm that everything is set, and the person I talked to told me that there is nothing scheduled for me and they cannot find a record of our conversation about the appointment... I am glad they figured it out and scheduled everything on time. It didn't cause me extra inconvenience to reschedule my road tests due to their carelessness, however it was still frustrating. Overall, actual instruction and teaching was excellent, scheduling and communication-poor.

Fantastic experience: Just go to this driving school. It is worth your every buck. I have worked with multiple instructors due to my chaotic schedule, and all of them are super great (shout out to Bill, Justin, Christian and Chris). Needless to say, after 6 or 7 of these great driving classes, passing the road test was easy, but more importantly I actually learn to drive safely that all the things I learned during the classes have effectively become automatic to me. I am extremely happy with my experience with them!!!

Negative experience: I’m disappointed, that this school does not teach what is on the drivers test. My wife signed for driving classes with this school to learn how to drive for the drivers test in Wisconsin. She immediately failed the test when we took it, because 4 Lakes did not teach her all the techniques she needed to know in order to pass the test. They asked her to honk the horn, but was never shown how, and, consequently, failed. This is a matter of knowledge and not a lack of skill, something this driving school easily could’ve, should’ve taught her.

Fantastic experience: We were very happy with the services offered. We appreciate the flexibility for scheduling lessons and rescheduling them as well. I especially liked that there were multiple locations around town to schedule the lessons. Thanks for all that you do to teach our kiddos. I will definitely recommend 4 Lakes.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend I had amazing instructors at the driving school like: • Cristian Ayala which provided me different views and skills on what to do on the road during snow and ice conditions. • Crystal Genzmer that is just an amazing instructor which years of experience as a teacher and a driver ed. She helped me gain a lot of driving confidence. My background I came from a country (international student) where we drove on the opposite side of the road with quite a few rule differences started there to know the rules for my DMV . Then when winter hit I had no idea what it was like to drive in the snow even though I was a very skilled driver so they guided me and gave me tips from their years of experience and that has helped me stay safe driving especially with other drivers sliding around.

He helped me a lot, gave me important pointers, very good advice and on my last lesson gave me some very good advice for being a lot less nervous on my driving test. Thank you J.P. Negative experience: I have never had such a horrible experience trying to reach a business. Calls and texts goes unreturned, yet fees are taken for services you are unable to provide. I understand a shortage of workers but it is unacceptable with the lack of communication. Recently have only heard the same negative experience from other parents.

Fantastic experience: I really appreciated the ease of which everything happened at 4 Lakes. The online courses were easily accessible for my teen. I was able to schedule behind the wheel lessons that worked for my schedule and change them without issue. The instructors were professional, helpful, and kind to my teen driver. Any issues were taken care of with a phone call or text. I will choose 4 Lakes for my next teen driver.

Fantastic experience: JP was an amazing instructor who was great at providing honest and helpful feedback

Negative experience: DO NOT RECOMMEND! Just had my road test and failed. I got the road test service from 4 lakes driving school, which is a bundle of a ~1 hour lesson right before the test + for me to have a vehicle for the test. The instructor was not my usual one since they have someone specifically doing the road test services. The road test instructor kept telling me new information as I was practicing (driving), I was nervous already but still wanted to pay attention. He was telling me information that has not been brought up in my previous sessions, and I was very overwhelmed. In addition, I have been doing curb side parking just fine, and right before my road test, I was told that I parked too far away from the curb, and we literally started practicing on getting closer to the curb less than an hour before my actual test. Reasonably I was nervous during the test, and when asked to do a curb side parking, I accidentally got on the curb because I was worried about being too far away from the curb. In reality, being a little further away will not automatically fail me, but getting on the curb sure did. It was also right before the test, that the instructor told me I should be checking my mirrors in an obvious way so that the examiner will know I am really looking at the mirrors. Again, I was trying to do what he told me, and ended up getting a comment of "head should not be jerking back & forth" and that the examiner thought I was not comfortable enough with driving. When I told the instructor that I failed and showed him the rubric, he said that I did well for a road test because even though I failed, they did not put a restriction on how many days I will have to wait before taking it again. This is just ridiculous, I signed up for a driving school because I assumed they would know more about the actual test, had I not gone over the curb, I would have passed. I don't know why they think it is a great idea to cram for the road test an hour before it and they sure are not experts in driving tests by any means.

Negative experience: The best of the worst. They send all kinds of emails and expect you to be there on time and to be proactive on communicating if there is an issue that prevents you from being there. When they had issues that caused them to change appointments they did not communicate well at all.

Fantastic experience: JP was an absolutely incredible driving instructor!! He was patient, easy to talk to, and made learning to drive a lot of fun while teaching me everything I needed to know. I looked forward to every lesson I had with him! He genuinely cares about teaching kids how to drive safely, and that made me as a student feel much more motivated to learn. He helped me feel a lot more confident in my driving skills and was so fun to talk with. I had a wonderful experience with him!

Negative experience: Wasted money on a 4-class package that turned out to be a disappointment. Teacher was nice and patient. But only Managed to schedule just one appointment and have been ignored regarding the rest. Disappointed customer.

Negative experience: *Hello! This review is from the adult drivers’ perspective; I’m not sure how it is for teen drivers. * I’m an adult in their early 20s who lives in Madison and who enrolled in four lakes driving school because I wanted to learn how to drive. Driving in the U.S is required to have access to affordable housing, high quality food, and good jobs, so I took my enrollment very seriously and wanted to complete my lesson ASAP. I didn’t have parents who had cars or friends who was willing to teach me, so I was grateful for the opportunity to pay for instructors that were fully trained (so I thought) and that had cars designed for training new drivers. When I first enrolled in courses, I learned that adult drivers are unable to schedule lessons using the online student dashboard, which was red flag number one. When I called, I was often waitlisted. This might not be a big issue at first glance, but lessons are prepaid (at least for adult drivers). I prepaid for 10 lessons for almost $1000, and it took for me a whole year to complete all the lessons. Mind you, I couldn’t practice outside of the lessons, so the huge gap of time between lessons meant I had to relearn everything each time. I also couldn’t cancel the remaining rides because the contract you sign says you need to wait at least a whole year since enrolling to do so, and I wasn’t going to risk enrolling in another driving school and dealing with the same issue while having my money still in four lakes. Students shouldn’t have to practice outside of lessons, especially when driving is not a privilege for many and most importantly when I am paying you an extremely large sum of money upfront. In addition, the instructor for each lesson often changed, meaning I had to adapt to new personalities and advice. Many of the instructors had problematic or weird personalities (patronizing, nitpicking on things that had nothing to do with driving, racially insensitive, etc.), and all of them except for one instructor always distracted me with conservation while I was driving, even though I was a first-time driver who didn’t feel comfortable behind the wheel. Very unprofessional and counterproductive. I am so frustrated with four lakes because I really wanted to drive so I could improve my social mobility, but this experience helped me realize that capitalism is working as intended. If four lakes wants any suggestions on improving their school (other than the obvious), please allow drivers to pay AFTER the lesson, not before, and make sure instructors are subjected to diversity and cultural sensitivity training or something along those lines (unless you’re telling me that they are naturally like that and can’t be trained, which would be ironic). I hope I I can change my rating after you reply…. From the email: “Some questions for Four Lakes: * Why can students only schedule three driving lessons per month? * What time is your latest driving appointment on weekdays? * What time do you offer driving lessons on weekends?”
