Also please keep in mind, we do offer behind the wheel lessons seven days per week along with a one year contract term to complete the required class and 7 lessons (two hours each). Our staff is always willing to assist students in scheduling behind the wheel appointments. However, a common issue that students have is waiting too long after receiving their learner's permit to begin scheduling with us. A one year contract term from starting the class does provide enough time to complete all requirements seeing as the students must hold their learner's permit for at least 6 months. We do also understand that students are very busy in school with extra curricular activities, which is why we do offer lessons behind the wheel on Saturdays and Sundays. Again, I strongly encourage you to call the office for assistance if needed, seeing as we are unable to identify your student without more information. Please keep in mind that the state requires students to hold the permit for a minimum of 6 months prior to taking the driving test for license. Seeing as your student received the permit earlier this month, your student is right on track to complete in time! I would kindly ask you to consider updating your first review seeing as no fees have been charged to you and we were able to assist you in a timely manner with scheduling. Negative experience: It’s been a LONG and difficult process trying to get my child licensed through Rhoades on Ellison. The staff is rude and they are quick to blame the student or parents. It is very hard to schedule a drive and they limit your child to a 1 hour drive every 30 days. When you log in everything is full and when you call they tell you that you need to be checking several times a day, every day for a slot to become available. So you can rarely even get a scheduled drive every 30 days because there are no drives available. When you do call they are rude. Once they have your money they know there is nothing you can do to except try and play nice with them or your child will never get their license. For the amount of money they charge you are better off going anywhere else but here. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They have an excuse for everything. Most importantly why give your money to a company whose management and staff are rude.
Hello, Per Texas state law, teens under the age of 18 are required to hold their learner's permit for a minimum of 6 months and be 16 years of age prior to testing for the license. This is why we allow students to practice with the instructors once per month- to stay on track with the 6 month law and allow for ample time to practice with parents between appointments. This is explained to parents upon registration/contract review and is also explained to students in the classroom. Our office is always ready and able to assist students with scheduling or any other questions throughout the process. Rhodes has been educating and licensing our community for over 40 years because our company mission is to promote safe driving through the power of education. The absolute last thing that we want to do as a company is take payment without seeing our students through their driver's education journey in obtaining the license. Negative experience: Worst experience ever. Please find another school. This establishment is over crowded, unprofessional, rude staff, unorganized and the service ... I paid for.. the total package..was not provided. It's scamish. They take your money and provide excuses as to why they can't provide the service paid for. Formal complaint filed with the state of Texas.I was contacted my Meagan the GM who after I requested a refund, stated that they are canceling the contract. They refused to provide the driving test. Please ..if you have been a victim of fraud from this company. File a formal complaint with the State of Texas Education Service Center Driver Training Division. There is no accountability, and it's fraud to not provide services that were paid for. There is no professional point of contact. They will waste your time and take your money.
Hello Reneca, Seeing as you have left us a review online (which we always encourage customer feedback!) I would like to clarify a few things for you and those reading. Your student has completed the state required 32 hours of in class instruction and received the learner's permit. Your student also completed the state required 14 hours of in car instruction and has received the final certificate of completion. We are unable to legally administer the driver's test to any student under the age of 18 who has not held the learner's permit for at least 6 months. This is per Texas state law. Our driving school is highly regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and due to the importance of both Texas law and driver's safety, we are not able to schedule your student for the driving test until those requirements are met, as explained to you previously. Your student's contract was cancelled due to the belligerent phone call to our office and threats to the company. Despite your request of a refund, there is no refund due at this point seeing as there is prorated class and drive charges for classes received per our signed contract. I hope your student is able to obtain the drivers license through DPS and I am disappointed that Rhodes was unable to complete your student's journey of obtaining the license. Fantastic experience: My family loves Rhodes driving school. My older brother got his license there with no problems and my little brother will be going as well after me. They are so sweet and accommodating and the frond desk staff are so patient and helpful. 10/10 customer service. I was unable to finish my drives with them in the initial time because i had to leave for college but they still assisted me with picking up where I left off after I returned and they helped me schedule all my drives as soon as possible so I could get my license quickly. I'm so grateful for the kindness and patience of their staff while helping me through my issues. 10/10 would recommend.

Negative experience: Absolutely do not waste your money on this school. They have no available hours for the kids to schedule drives. They have way too many students. It’s literally impossible to schedule a drive. When you call them to ask about it they tell you too bad, deal with it then blame the student for not trying hard enough to schedule a drive. From one parent to another do not waste your hard earned money on this school. I wish I could get refund and go to a reputable school with more staff.

Fantastic experience: My son took driving lessons and the road test through Rhodes on Ellison. We have nothing to complain about. No problems scheduling classes (I went in person to schedule them). The staff was courteous and my son liked taking lessons with Coach Marsh. Overall a very good experience.

Negative experience: Terrible service. As a teen enrolled here I can’t begin to tell you how much I hate it. I have been looking forward to driving for years but the schedules to drive are bizarre and hard to work around. Lots of hours are during school and I will NOT be getting pulled out of school just to do one or maybe 2 hours of driving. The hours that do happen to be after school or on the weekends are always booked up too. I have been having so much trouble trying to book appointments before my contract ends. When telling this to the front desk lady, she gave visible attitude and said it was me and my family’s fault that we were “just now booking drive appointments” after we had been trying for months. We told her we definitely had been trying and she even admitted that I have logged into my account over 85 times trying to book appointments. Upon her realization that it is in-fact not my fault, she told me to make an appointment in person the next time I had a driving appointment, which was today. So after my drive I went up to her desk and asked her if I could book my next appointment only for her to turn me away and say “keep checking online and if you can’t find anything then to call them”. HOWEVER, their website doesn’t allow appointments to be booked within 30 days of the last appointment. Along with that the website specifically says not to call them to schedule drives. I would never recommend this school to other teenagers or anybody in general. It’s been such a headache and extremely frustrating trying to work with this school. Hopefully you can try to find somewhere better to attend than this overpriced school.
Hello, please keep in mind we do have students who are either home schooled or have off periods during the day. Daytime sessions are offered to accommodate for these particular students. We do have driving lessons seven days per week. Ideally we would like to have students drive once per month (one hour of driving and one hour of observation) starting the month they receive their learner's permit. This is because the state requires students to hold their learner's permit for a six month period. Like you mentioned in your review, the office is always happy to assist you in scheduling if you are unable to find open times online. Our Schedule2Drive scheduling system releases drives periodically throughout the week to make it fair for all students who schedule. All that we ask is checking online 2-3 times per week. If you have checked for about a week and have not been successful scheduling please call the office for assistance. If you are unable to schedule online for a long period of time, however you do not reach out to the office for assistance, there would be no way for us to help you. Our goal is to educate, motivate and empower students to both drive safely and be responsible in scheduling their in car driver's education classes. In your particular case, you were able to schedule your first two lessons online for a Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening after school. Like you mentioned you did drive with us yesterday. Again, please call the office for assistance if you are unable to find availability soon. We look forward to completing your driver's education course!
Fantastic experience: My daughter enrolled there to complete her driving lessons and they were able to work with her schedule and ensure we completed them all in time to make her driving test. The general manager, Megan, was super helpful and we appreciated her very much!

Negative experience: the on paper learning is a breeze but the instructors are just tedious. When I went in for behind the wheel sessions I had to literally camp my laptop and refresh every morning for openings just for them all to be booked as soon as they popped up. I had to call numerous times just for a response, and to even register for a behind the wheel session that didn't appear online. Also, the instructor (I don't remember his name) literally hit the window and yelled constantly to direct me, yell at me constantly when I was trying to check my blind spots, slam the breaks on me if I did the slightest thing wrong.

Fantastic experience: I do the 6hrs course class. It was easy and explained well. The instructor was nice and professional of what his doing, now i get my drivers license. Highly recommend to anyone rhodes for driving lesson and to get their drivers license.

Positive experience: They advertised $99 for 2hrs of driving but they called me to tell me that's NOT correct. They stated their prices were wrong. It's actually $150.
Fantastic experience: This is my first driving school and the manager is amazing very friendly and cooperative she is very understanding and the classes them self are very educational and I really learned a lot from the school but the manager is like the cherry on top the schools great for teens wanting to learn without going through DPS

Negative experience: Teaching portion was good, but when driving you can only do it every 30 calendar days, i would've had my license by now but this school never has dates times or answers there phones. If you are trying to get your driving done asap i don't recommend.
Fantastic experience: I registered my child for in-person instruction at the Culebra location in the Spring of 2022. We had to schedule a make-up class due to an unforeseen situation and the staff was accommodating to schedule the make-up session as soon as possible. Every time I visit the Culebra location, I am greeted, helped and am able to have any questions answered including when is the next available driving session, what are my next steps, and what are DPS’s expectations when we schedule our appointments with DPS. I have had nothing less than a pleasant experience with the in-office staff and Driving Instructor(s)!

Negative experience: Same complaint as everyone else here. Not enough driving sessions available, and the ones that are available are during school hours. The office should schedule driving sessions for enrolled students in an equitable manner.

Negative experience: In case anyone is still considering this "school," consider this: We spent $425 for the classroom instruction & 7 driving sessions. After 7 months, we've had 1driving session. Terrible service, no one answers the phone, a waste of money and your time.

Negative experience: Parents of current students unable to schedule drives please read this first. (google texas licensing board, click file a complaint, then enter the information and go from there. It is helpful to have a copy of your contract and times and days you have called and emailed the school for appointments) For parents considering this school: My daughter was never able to schedule drive time in their schedule2drive system. I had to check in frequently and they would never confirm how many actual driving slots they had open or when they would post the schedule. I was told "just keep logging in". That’s a deflection and apparently they tell everyone that. As a result of this back and forth I was only able to schedule 1 time driving in a year of her starting the process. That time did not even come from their system it came from me complaining to the office manager about my child never being able to drive. They get only one professional driving lesson per month even if you can get an appointment escalating the issue. That is not enough and you would just end up doing most of the work yourself if you could even get them an appointment. It’s my belief that they have way more children enrolled than they have the resources they to accommodate. I decided I had enough and transferred her permit to another driving school. I spent a bit over 400 to waste a year of time and listen to excuses and apologies from well meaning staff that is just following the instructions of a greedy and unethical owner. I never write bad reviews but I had to say something about this because every time I have gone to the office I have heard other parents complaining in person and over the phone so I know this is not a unique experience. Please don’t spend your money with this business. The pictures below were taken this past Saturday when I was there shortly after 9 AM and there was no staff there until almost 9:30. Clearly they can’t even stick to their own posted office hours, because if the did there wouldn’t be a reason for the sign.
Fantastic experience: My son got his driver's license last year and this place was helpful. Everything was explained to us upon registration. I do wish the scheduling of the drives were easier but between my son and I stalking the site we were able to get the drive sessions in. We started early so by the time he was 16 he had finished all the drives and he got his license.
Negative experience: We had the same problem that everyone below had . First part went fine but when it came to driving classes it’s impossible to schedule one online.

Why? Because for the next 6 weeks there were only 3 DAYS of lessons and they were already full. Get a refund and go somewhere else, right? I mean, the 7 sessions are $399 by themselves. We should get over $300 back, right? NOPE. They rigged it so we get less than $25 back. After 8 months and $425 my son still can't get his license, but they sure got their money.
Negative experience: In-class training went well, but lord help me if I can get my teen on the drive schedule. It’s been a year and he still has not done one session. I understand shortage in instructors and to check the site regularly, but it’s absolutely ridiculous. I work and cannot be checking all day, every day, but I check almost every other day and NEVER see any openings. As of last week, the schedule no longer gives options to look ahead the next 3 weeks. So $300 wasted. Look elsewhere, don’t recommend.
Negative experience: This place is ridiculous, my son enrolled in October and has only done 1 hour in driving. I would definitely not recommend this place. But they are quick to take your money.
Negative experience: This place would be great if you didn't have to pay so much just to get scammed. The first school/class portion of it was easy and simple with a flexible schedule and make up days but they scam you by not giving you reminders on your contract deadline as well as not giving you enough information on the actual drives. They only give you a year to finish everything but that is not enough time especially when they only give you one drive a month and with COVID and having to reschedule your DMV appointments to get your permit you're left with not enough time to complete everything which will result in your have to pay for everything all over again.

They take your money complete first part ok but the driving part time expired due to covid complications taking us too long to get appointments to get drivers permit and when my son was finally ready to schedule for the driving hours hes told hes not able to and we have to pay more money to teach him ourselves.
Negative experience: I wish I could give a 0 star. They never answer the phone. I have called 50 times in one day and NOTHING! I have never been able to book a driving lesson online. Do not waste your money.
Negative experience: Very frustrating experience with this school, the first part was fine no problems with the actual classes. The big problem was the actual drive times, first when starting the drive times they fail to tell you that you can only get a drive once every 30 days. I had my sister have her first drive time, and try every day after to get another. Not knowing the system wouldn’t allow her to schedule another drive for 30 days, and being very discouraged. It took a phone call, which don’t get me started with trying to get in touch with someone here, to find this information out, then putting a plan in place to finish the drive times only to have the time frame expire, and having to pay a premium to get the remaining drive times. I can not express how frustrated I am with this driving school. Proper expectations were never set, and that’s my real problem I will never recommend Rhodes driving school to any parent, or friend taking care of a younger sibling ever.
Fantastic experience: Wonderful trainers with flexible schedule. I highly recommend Rhodes for not just high school students, but also for people migrating from other countries. They teach you by comparing the rules followed from where you are. I had my drivers license through RDL and its my sons turn now.
Negative experience: The driving hours are not sufficient for the amount of people they signed up for. I have only been able to book 2 sessions. Going to have to pay extra now so I can make sure my daughter completes all her driving hours with me now.
Negative experience: They never have any available time to drive and they don’t care. Every time we try to book a driving lesson there is nothing available. Then you have to try for 4 days straight to see if anything opens up and then they book something for you. Horrible customer service
Negative experience: Never hours available. I check everyday, a few timed a day and I get the same massage: “there are no hours available at this time”. Ridiculous!!!!
Negative experience: We signed up in April and they haven't had a single time that we can sign up for driving. I got a notice that there was an opening, while sitting at my computer. By the time I logged in, the session was gone. They have a ton of students and 3 drive times.. for the month so far. Such a rip off!
Negative experience: If you scroll through the comments you'll notice that the comments coming from the students are all very positive and the ones from parents very negative. Do NOT give them your money. It's almost impossible to schedule driving lessons. You log in, but there are never any lessons available. They refuse to schedule out the whole 7 lessons ahead of time. You have to do one at a time and wait 30 days between lessons. They'll refuse to schedule a lesson through the phone unless you've signed into the scheduling site multiple times. I gave up and transferred them to Hendricks where they can get all their lessons scheduled out within a month.

Negative experience: Be aware that the late class at this location ends at 8:45. I know everything your going to get says 7-9. However the instructor apparently has some place to be at night so he kicks all the kids out at 8:45 and locks the door behind them. This school is in a dark shady parking lot so you can imagine my mood when I pull up at 9 and find my teenage daughter has been waiting in this shady parking lot alone in the dark for 15 min. Said something to the office they said they would talk to him and at least let the kids wait inside until parents arrive if he ends early. Didn’t change a thing. He still kicks the kids out in the parking lot at 8:45. At least now I know and am there early waiting.
Negative experience: Rip off!! DO NOT ATTEND... you will waste your money and childs time...No driving days Available, no one answers calls. you will have better luck with the DPS self taught service, as you will probably end of having to do that at the end with no staff to drive your child to obtain hours.

Fantastic experience: Definitely worth the investment for your teen! I can honestly say that too! One of my kids were self taught and the other came to these classes and I can say she has excelled above and beyond her older sibling!
Positive experience: The driving instructors are very nice. They explain to you what to expect when you go for your drivers license. Everbody there was very helpful and understanding. If I had to do it over again I would go back to Rhodes Driving SCHOOL thanks Becky and thank your staff.
Negative experience: My daughter attended a class at this location. She was billed twice. It has been over two months and I'm still trying to get a refund from the school. I haven't had any one care about this issue to contact me about my refund more less to apologize. That shows how they do business!

When I called Rhodes/Ellison I spoke with Jacob at the front desk. He was so polite and very helpful to me. He answered all of my questions that I needed answered and took his time to assist me without rushing me off of the phone. He definitely has great customer service skills and very professional.
