Fantastic experience: I am currently taking classes to get my adult license for the first time. I have some experience driving (albeit on and off). I completed my first session today, and I did enjoy it. Firstly, you are required to have your permit and ID to take courses. Do your due diligence when studying for it, as the information is important for understanding signs, signals, and general rules of the road. To reinforce this information, the professor will require you to watch a short video that describes this info (if you've been to Driver's Training you'll recognize it). Then the instructor will make sure you understand how to operate a vehicle (adjust mirrors and seat properly, accelerate and reverse in the parking lot). We proceeded to drive in a residential area to practice coming to a complete stop, as well as turning left and right. Then we drove on the road. When I stated I was comfortable, he guided me on freeway driving. The professor is patient, and makes light jokes with students when they make mistakes, but he is firm about enforcing the rules (maintaining the speed limit and NOT going over, etcetera, etcetera). The only issue that I have is that the website needs to be more clear when stating prices for adults. For example, the website says that "We charge $70/hour weekdays only. OR 2 hours $140." However, I was told over the phone that I needed to book in 2 hour sessions. So expect to pay for 2 hours, and more if you need pick-up and drop-off (which is stated on the website). I am just now realizing that $70/hour is weekdays. So maybe all weekend appointments are booked as two hours by default? This is something that should still be made clear on the website. Regarding pick-up and drop-off, pricing is dependent on where you live. Bring extra money incase you need more than what is told over the phone. I was told $165 for my session with pick-up and drop-off, but was then told in the office that my house was too far from it, and I needed to pay $10 extra. Not a big deal, but I would love more transparency with the pricing. I will say that the professor was flexible with accepting payment options. The website says that a $30 deposit is needed to confirm your appointment through Zelle. I tried to send this though Zelle, but the platform classifies FC Driving as a small business that does not accept payment via Debit Card. Well, I was able to pay for the entire session in cash when I got to the office. So kudos there. I am not sure if Essam is the only instructor for FC Driving. As I stated he is polite. This may not be the case with other instructors if there are any. This was only my first session but I do plan on taking more with Essam until I feel comfortable taking my road test. Hopefully this was helpful for all you new adult drivers. Good Luck!

Negative experience: Mr. Essam is a very experienced drivers Ed teacher. But I don’t think I’ll be continuing lessons with him because during my first lesson he made snarky and condescending comments that did not make me feel comfortable while driving. I’m sure he is an excellent teacher, just not the teacher for me.

Negative experience: Bad experience. I am a first-time adult driver and booked a private class with Essam. Right from the start to end of the driving lesson, he was condescending and rude, without regard for my anxiety since it was my first time driving. He made me feel even more nervous by constantly yelling while I drove and complaining that he was tired of giving me instructions. I would highly not recommend this place.

Fantastic experience: I was nervous about my first drive but i was assured by Mr.Essam i was doing things correctly. I went on the highway as-well for my very first drive which was pretty nerve wracking but I did great! I would most definitely recommend this place for those who want to learn. He told me the things i was doing incorrectly and we went over it times and times again until i became more comfortable with it.

Mr. Essay is very responsible and helped my kids be safe on the road while driving. I didn’t expect to drive on the expressway for our first lesson especially with so much construction but he guided me carefully and reassured me. I need a few additional sessions before testing but I know I’ll confidently pass.

Fantastic experience: Edit: passed my road test today, and Mr. Essam not only helped me pass the test but actually prepared me to drive. He makes sure that during every lesson, I went to the highway. I drove from Southfield to Dearborn and Detroit multiple times in the weeks I learned with him- something that is rare for all schools to provide. He also did an extensive practice for parking course, and had me park in store and grocery store parking lots - mimicking real life situations. Made me confident behind the wheel. Would recommend 200% Adult learner: Been driving with Mr. Essam for 2 weeks now, he gives very specific feedback that helps me know what to fix. He is also very thorough when supervising me on on highway, freeway and also spends adequate time helping with parking. He makes sure to keep advancing lessons as and when I get more comfortable with each additional step.
