Negative experience: I took this course and I have not received my certificate. I was told to pay 5 dollars for a copy. The office manager was rude and I gave her same energy she gave me.

Negative experience: Paid $44.95 for online defensive driving course. Attempted to start the course which takes 6 hours to complete. Too tedious for me and decided to withdraw. Called their office to arrange for a refund of $44.95. Was advised they do NOT give refunds for the online course. That is unacceptable. Filed a dispute with the credit card I used for payment and will reach out to public media and Better Business Bureau. Theives! No need to say anything, just refund $44.95 like I requested.

Negative experience: Horrible experience, never go to this company for your drivers certificate. Since May waiting on my certificate and here we are in August. When you call the office you speak to unprofessional, non-sympathetic human beings. Starting with Janet, Margaret and Jonathan being a supervisor. Wish I could rate them a 0 and no star they don’t deserve even one. They don’t care at all about customer service.

Fantastic experience: This is the Second time using there online course. Hands down the best and most straight forward course. I recommend everyone to use there site instead of those other sites that take your money and you end up wasting valuable time and money.

Negative experience: BEWARE I was just hung up on my call. A female employee with poor customer service answered my call. I called the number in the Empire Safety Council book after the allotted time of me taking my defensive driving class passed, and I did not receive my document. I was already met with: “if you took it Jan 27, those went out already.” I then explained that I in fact, took it before that. I was asked to provide my NYS Driver’s license number. To my disappointment, I was told it just got mailed out yesterday, and on top of that, they wrote down my address incorrectly. When I took the class, we were given a document to fill by hand, and implored to write it down clearly and legibly. Then that’s where this person’s aggravation sets in: “well, that’s human error, there’s 1 person doing 500 of these a day. It doesn’t matter another one will go out it’s another 7-14 business days.” I then kept getting interrupted, as I am trying to explain my information was clear, and no matter how much work 1 person is doing for the day, it cannot fall on me that one person is unfortunately doing the job, so much is falling on ONE person and it’s creating errors. But, what’s the shock here with regards to the work ethic this business has. They have someone incredibly rude answering the phone, who ultimately tries to gaslight you, and then hangs up on you.

Negative experience: When you create and pay for the defensive driving course, please know you have to compete the course in 30 days. If you don’t, your account will be deleted and your money will not be refunded. I wish I would have known that. Hope this helps someone!

Positive experience: Content was fine, easy to understand and hear. What I did not like was after listening to a chapter and waiting a couple more minutes to time out it would prompt "insecure internet "or something like that and I would have to repeat the chapter again. Sometimes it would repeat several times. This could happen in my home or at work. Other times it worked well. Then when I was down I was prompted to download the completion page but it would not download. Otherwise, it's a great way to reduce the cost of insurance and you always pick up something. Nice to do at your own pace.

Negative experience: I was in the middle of a course and halfway through it and all of a sudden they are having technical difficulties well I want a refund and it’s been days of no solution

Fantastic experience: I took the Defensive Driving course through Empire Safety Council earlier this month. I like that they offer it online - makes it much more convenient and comfortable. The instructor was very engaging, encouraged discussion, and offered real world examples for material gone over in the class rather than just reading from the book. Plus, the insurance discount is a bonus! Will be taking the course again in 3 years.

Positive experience: The class moved along. It was nice having two instructors that were able to switch places. They give the information in a different way and you didn't become board. We had a few talkers in our class and they navigated them very well and we able to keep the class moving. I took the class at Columbia-Greene Community College which was very convenient.

My teacher, Ian, who is also now my insurance agent, is extremely knowledgeable and keeps us laughing through the long hours of the course with his energetic and entertaining teaching style. I have taken this course once before - from another provider and while that course was done well it was not nearly as interesting and a bit of fun as it was this time. My instructors were engaging, well informed about traffic safety laws, the guest speaker they brought in was very informative and the videos were recent. Each time, I was very favorably impressed with the instructor, and I always walked away having learned something new that made me a safer and better driver. I take the course every three years to reduce the premium cost on my auto insurance. The classes are highly interactive between the instructor and the students, which helps to keep the course interesting. It also fosters a nice relationship between the instructor and the other students. The A/V presentations are also very effective, and are an excellent reminder that driving is serious business. Each instructor I have had has been pleasant, friendly, highly knowledgeable, and always took the time to answer any questions that arose. My wife, who has also taken the course several times, and I have referred several of our friends to the Empire Safety Council, and they too have had very similar and favorable experiences. In summary, I would heartily recommend this course to anyone desiring to be a safer and more defensive driver, while at the same looking to reduce the cost of their auto insurance premium, or to reduce the points on their license.
